When I came back from spending some time in Spain and wanted to try some salsa moves out, I hit the Alley. It is small enough so if you aren't super confident about your skills, no one is going to care.
This place is right above the Migueleno's Cafe -- look for the green awning. On the inside there are murals of jazz musicians on the walls.
As any dance club should be, it is only open Wednesdays through Saturday nights for salsa-ing and mamboing the night away. Alley offers salsa and merengue lessons are offered Thursdays through Saturdays for five bucks. -

Latin Jazz Alley is a pretty bare-bones Salvadoran-run salsa dancing establishment, with a bar in one corner serving the usual line up of bottled beer (think Corona) and most of the rest of the space devoted to the dance floor. No food served, but you can order downstairs at the Migueleno Cafe and bring the food up, but that closes at 9pm. It hasn't been too crowded when I've been there (which, admittedly, has been during the week). Women will receive a lot of attention from the mostly male clientele.
