I used to work here, and even though I don't anymore, I am still a customer. The products are great for the skin. I use their skincare: Ultra Mild cleanser, Bamboo Lemongrass Scrub, Citrus Toner, and Ultra Light lotion. I had used Dermalogica for years, but find Lather products to be much more effective on my skin, not to mention my wallet! Everything really is all-natural. It's not hype. The Bamboo (body) scrub is also divine...you gotta try it. Your skin will thank you for it. They also offer mani/pedi services. Lori is awesome! Try the Mint pedi...it is amazing!
This store smells HEAVENLY. As soon as you walk into this store, you're welcomed with an intoxicating lavender scent. I want every room in my house to smell like this store!!
I swear I haven't had so much fun in a long time. The employees were really knowledgeable about products and didnt' have a problem with customers trying on everything. They actually encouraged it. I wasn't even planning on splurging and I still walked out with a couple of items. I fell in love with the peppermint skin polish with jojoba beads. After testing it on one of my hands, I was sold. The hand that used the product felt feathery and silk like. You can totally feel the difference on the hand that didn't use the product.
I also fell in love with their licorice root eye cream. I had ugly dark circles under my eyes, and when i used the cream, my dark circles disappeared!! hahaha..i actually doubt it works that fast, what i think really happened was that the eye cream removed some of my eye makeup. BUT STILL!!! the fact that my eyes felt minty and clean and the fact that it could potentially remove dark circles...*sigh* now do you know why malls love me??
The prices weren't that bad at all - a lot of their items are perfectly reasonable. I spent about $18 for a jar of scrub. The way i think about it is if you use in moderation, it will last a long time.
okay... lemme explain to you guys why their hand cream & shea butter is the very best in the whole wide world!
i am a cosmetologist who does esthetician work..... which entails me to wash my hands at the very least 20 times a day. for every day, im washing my hands before and after every clients. it's madness i tell ya. and now if u look at my hands and palms, i have no life line cuz i cant tell which line is my life line. my skin sometimes crack and bleed. yes bleed.
ok on to my feet. i wear ONLY flip flops. i wear flips flops even if it rains. year round im wearing flip flops... so my heels are dried and cracked up real bad.
okay on to the products..... it's the ONLY thing that works! i apply the AHA LAVENDER HAND CREAM with the LAVENDER LIME SHEA BUTTER afterwards and reapply the cream once more.
apply morning and nite... at nite when apply it to the feet, make sure u wear socks after.
i did this for a week straight and the results were amazing! my hands fit my age finally! my heels no longer scares my boyfriend away from sleeping with me due to scratching his legs. except for now, since i ran out of the stuff.
everytime i go to lather i stock up. i tried their other stuff... it's okay, nothing spectacular ... but im telling you... the hand creme and shea butter works! and it works on cracked heels too!
and the results last. this is important.. because other stuff i use, it works for that moment until u reapply. but with LATHER, it works to help heal.

Lather seemed to have cute stuff that smells good. I didn't even really mind the price. But for the love of god, can the women who work in this store please chill with the upselling? The minute I walked in I was pounced on and stalked from soap to soap by not one but two screechy women who wanted to read me the ingredient list of every product I even looked at. They completely overlooked our very obvious attempts to ignore them. The final straw was when I was followed to the sink and asked if I needed any "help" with the testers. I kind of think anyone who needs assistance figuring out how to use a bar of soap might have bigger problems than anything the girls at Lather are currently equipped to address.
If you're in the mood to splurge, Lather will gladly take your money and give you some cute bath products in exchange! Their soaps smell fabulous....my only complaint is that I MEANT to pick up a lavender one, and ended up buying clove soap, which I didn't discover until I was back in my hotel room in San Francisco! I guess I was too distracted by everything else in the shop. Oh well, I hope the clove soap isn't too overpowering. I did manage to (correctly) purchase some lavender body cream, which has been really nice on my winter skin.
Service was nice, although if you're the type of person who prefers to be left alone while you shop, you may find them a little too attentive. Then again, I was in the mood to spend money, so maybe they could sense that. :)
Awesome products, but yes, very pricey. I do love how they have baby products too, but I have yet to try those...

Clove soap, if you are without man, their clove soap can help you remember what a man smells like that way you can find one. The Natural Pumice stones work wonders on calluses. I wish they had more selection of body oils not just in the gift baskets.
For their cranberry sugar rub alone, five stars. The best scrub I have ever used. It's a must-have. In my ever changing beauty regime the cranberry sugar scrub is one item you will always find in my shower.
Yes, I agree with other Yelpers, the place is pricey, but for this, I'll suck it up.

Granted, Santana Row is filled with aburdly expensive stores. And Lather looks so lovely. But frankly, I am appalled at the prices of their soap. Once I saw what it cost to buy a single bar, I left Lather, never to return.

my friend and i had an appointment for a mini facial here but it ended up not happening because the girl who does them quit unexpectedly. after i called to complain, the manager offered us two $50 gift certificates, which was really nice! so, we came back today to get our stuff and they helped us and did some demos on our hands. the employee was really nice and attentive and offered some good suggestions and input. their products are rather simple but expensive! i love that they use all natural ingredients! i opted for the cucumber ginseng facial mist and the bamboo body scrub! i don't know if i would come back to buy anything again because they are really overpriced but i do like the products i got..

Spacious modern store filled with lotions, soaps, shea butter, body scrubs... basically anything you can imagine to get your skin as soft as a baby's butt.
In the rear of the store they even have a large sink where you can sample all their soapy products before you buy.... nice touch.
But I have to rate them only 3 stars because of their price... at Lather you can get a small jar of shea butter hand cream for $17.. but not 10 steps outside at the Santana Row Farmer's market we purchased all natural shea butter for only $5.50 (for the same size jar) and the quality was just as good.
I am flabbergasted by the allure and novelty of this store. The labels on the products look like something I could print out of my HP, and the scents are not very appealing to my senses. Bonus star for the quality of product and the simple interior.
