I ain't no easy win. And after going through this horrific kitchen remodel and dealing with the AWFUL folks at Uni-Stone; I must admit that I was feeling a bit jaded and bitter. When Uni-stone called and said that they did not have the backsplash that I had already paid for, I got my money back and rushed to Yelp!
Twas Yelp and my WONDERFUL Yelpers that gave me game on Latch Tile.
I walked into Latch Tile, a single woman with absolutely NO TILE SAVVY and the attention span of a teetsy fly. Coral, was patient with me. She answered all of my dumb questions with kindness and concern all the while keeping me focused every time my eye would wander because I saw something shiny (their selection is breathtaking!). She went above and beyond to get me a beautiful tile that I would be happy with. Then, she schooled me on Grout...who knew that there is this whole world of grout out there? Anyway, Ms. Coral did her thing and now I have this amazing tile ordered for my backsplash and I ended up paying LESS for it.
Thanks to Coral Romero and Al Alexander (Al is totally cool too) at Latch Tile, I now have some peace of mind and am eager to see what my new kitchen is going to look like.
Next time, I am going to Latch Tile FIRST and giving them ALL of the business that I can! As far as the location is concerned, I don't care if I have to run my flabby body naked through a turf war to get there, not even the projects can keep me from Latch Tile. THEY GOT ME SPRUNG!!!!!
PS: This is an "old school' business. There is no bright sign. So, you have to pay attention to the address and THEY DO NOT TAKE CREDIT CARDS...cash or checks only.

This place ROCKS! I don't remember how I found them, but after looking at the high-priced stuff at Expo and other boutique tile showrooms, I was ecstatic to find the great selection and super low prices that Latch provided.
It's a no-frills operation geared towards the professional contractor, so don't expect to be condescendingly pampered. However, the staff is very helpful! And they didn't get sick of me after several visits. I got some good advice about spacing and grout colors, and they loaded my orders into my car. They even gave me the location of the tile I special-ordered so I could pick it up directly.
Not only did I pick out tile, spacers and grout for our half-bath floor, stair landing, kitchen floor, and kitchen counters, it was very convenient to make a quick run up to Latch when I turned out to be short a few pieces for the counter.
Should I need tile or supplies in the future, Latch will definitely be my first stop!

I needed tile repaired at my house which they don't do, they only sell it, but they did have a list of great recommendations for licensed and bonded installers (last name spelling is probably wrong on my part)
George Mariota 415-285-2576 -Never Returned Phone Calls
Tony Lina 650-347-4977 - Good Guy. Will show up
Carl Berkstrom 415-759-6630- Never Returned Phone Calls
I had a great experience at Latch Tile. The sales guy was very helpful in helping me select my tile. When I had further design questions, he had another lady help out; she was also great. I shopped around at other tile shops in SF and found Latch Tile to be great for price and service.
The one drawback is the location; it's rather far out in Bay View / HP. On the other hand, I'm sure this is what keeps their prices low.

We used Latch for a large multi-part tile job and they were great. They patiently offered me choices equivalent to the higher priced tile showrooms, (in both ceramic and marble tiles) and they bent over backwards to get my items quickly, even when our errors caused re-ordering of additional materials. Coral and Al are the best and I would recommend Latch wholeheartedly.

This business has been in Frisco for over 50 years. Family owned and operated and they cater to contractors and home fixer-uppers alike. They always have close outs and can help you figure out exactly how much you need without too much overage. They have a vast selection varying from old feature strips to glass mosaics and everything in between. You don't need to go to those high overhead places, just go here. You will not be disappointed.
