My favorite sub shop in Broward and there are multiple locations. I also love Big Foot and Mr. M's, but Laspada's is simply the best. Ton of selections and they slice the meat right there in front of you. The best part is throwing the top (turkey top, ham top, whatever you order) down right to your sandwich, even if the person who is making it is like 10 feet down the counter, it's a perfect throw every time.

Just make sure you have cash because they don't take credit cards.

Oh how I wish they were closer. Anytime I am in that area, this is a must stop for us.

Cash only!

You stand in line like cattle, always very busy. But no worries, they are fast.

Fresh hoagie bread and as you order they slice the meat right in front of you. Onto the condiments, you name it, they have it...The best sweet and hot peppers, fresh ingredients, and meat slections.

Not only are their subs awesome but to watch them is a blast!

After they fill your sub with whatever condiments they yell at they guy on the slicer and he throws over another very big piece of meat to finish off your sub. Meat on the bottom, cheese, condiments, then more meat!! You can not eat one of them without being so full your about to burst. Good prices, and friendly staff.

A must try to enjoy an excellent sub, that is well worth the price.
Super Bowl, oh yeah great place to order catering from...:) Call ahead!

The hoagies here are definitely worth a stop, whether you are going for something more healthy like their tuna salad, their turkey or something heavy, like the Mama Laspada or the Monster!!!  (whoo.. with names like that, how can you say NO?)

I have personally done all four of the above sandwiches and can't decide which I like most.  If you want something filling and delicious, go with the Mama or the Monster, which is packed with roast beef, salami, cheese and ham.  The Mama is your more traditional Italian.  The tuna salad is phenomenal, made with great quality tuna.  And of course the turkey is cut directly from the big block, fresh, just like all the other meats.

Great fresh ingredients.

Notes:  now takes credit cards.   you can phone in your order, which may not be a bad idea during the lunch rushes, in which the lines go out the door and around the corner (well, not quite, but they are not that fast with process and it will definitely take a while).. I timed them at about 2 minutes per person once they take your order.  No kiddin'.

WARNING to all you criminals out there:  this place is really popular with Davie cops, Plantation cops, Homeland Security, CBP (?), FBI, etc.  They sometimes drive their paddywagons and vans directly over and unload to get lunch.  Bad for you if you're on "Most Wanted," especially since you're going to be in line uncomfortably trying to act cool while answering questions like "do you want that to go?"  But good for the rest of us, cause those guys know their sandwiches and are a great barometer of sandwich success.

I used to come here weekly when i lived across the street (literally the condo's that are across university blvd). I would walk on over for lunch.
Located in the same plaza as party city, it is easy to miss.  Its a small shop with friendly workers.  I always order the same thing when i come here, the large italian.  Yum.  Their meats are always cut fresh right in front of you.  Sometimes the line can get pretty long, but its worth it.  There are no other sandwich shop in the area.  And for around 10 bux, the sub can easily be eaten in 2 meals.  If you are in the area, you should not miss this place.

The subs here are great!

This place ONLY Takes cash though.

The 8 inch sub will feed two girls for a meal... or the 12 inch will feed 3-4 girls, or two girls for 2 meals.

the "italian special" is super packed with meat and veggies and sauces that it's messy, not great for a date place... but if ur playing poker with the boys, or just having a hang out day with friends, this place is great!

And you can call in your order, and the sandwich will be ready when you get there. just hit up the ATM first. :)

This place makes the best hoagies hands down.  I come to S. Florida every year or so, and there are a few things that I make sure I do.  I eat some cuban food, I go watch some Jai-Ali and I eat at Laspada's.  I don't know if it makes a huge difference in flavor that the meat is sliced as you order it, but even if it is just psychological, it works.  This place seems to really pay attention to the quality of their ingredients, which in a cold sub is pretty much everything.

I always get a monster.  A regular 12" monster could feed a small family, so prepare yourself.

I wish there was a sub place like this back where I live, but I guess it would remove one of my favorite reasons to come back to Florida.

I have heard about this place by many locals for a while, and I always assumed it could never live up to the hype.  I was absolutely wrong.  I got the monster which truly was a monster sub.  How they wrap the veggies and toppings inside the meat is unique to me, and definitely delicious.

They do now accept credit cards, so saves a trip to the ATM.

The only drawback is the crowds during lunch time, and not much seating.  Other than that for a perfect sub for lunch, you would be hard pressed to find a better location in south Florida.

LaSpada's is the Hoagie shop in SoFla.

The are just perfect, stacked high with veggies and meats. It's pretty sloppy. I suggest you order ahead and take the subs with you. But witnessing the scene at the shop is kind of worth it, at least once. Just so you can see thrown meat caught with bread and then turned into a sandwich.

Down the road from the Dolphins training camp. Dol-Fans may enjoy a few trips down memory lane while waiting.

Lasspada's is a excellent place for a sandwich. The sandwiches are fresh, big, and well-priced. I love how they carry Dirty Chips (yum!).

But (yeah, there's always a but) I agree with Jennifer C. about the Zagat rating...I don't quite get it even though I liked Lasspadas. It was tough rating Lasspadas based on one trip. I don't think it's fair, but honestly, I felt based on taste alone, it was 3 of 5. Maybe my expectations were too high.

*Good to Possibly Great* sandwiches, but not *Definitely Great to Incredible*. (Does this make any sense whatsoever?) I have had far tastier sandwiches. I'm drooling just thinking about Bay Cities Deli in Santa Monica, but I'll regain some self-control to finish this review.

FOOD
I ordered the Italian on wheat with just about everything. $8 for a 12" sub. I really liked the sweet and spicy peppers. The personal attention they give to each sandwich is incredible. The meats are sliced right before being added to the sandwich! And you get a choice of mustards...I love honey mustard! So cool... Anyway, got diced lettuce, tomatoes, and pickles on top of that. With oil and salt/pepper. After laying all that stuff on, the sandwich guy adds on another layer of meat!! And then "tucks" the meat in to seal the sandwich. This actually kind of works because when i ate it at the beach, stuff did *not* fall out.

Maybe I ordered the wrong stuff, but even though i liked the sandwich, I thought it wasn't really "Italian." I couldn't really taste the salami. I have a thing with breads. I feel that the bread is like a good pair of shoes for an outfit....The shoes *make* the outfit. In Lasspada's case, the bread was soft and ordinary.

And oh, I'm a sucker for Boar's Head. Lasspadas get a star for this fact alone. This is attention to quality.

SIZE
There needs to be a whole category for this. The sandwiches here are huge in width. The small is an 8" and the large is 12". Surprising, I split the large in half, the 6" sub was just enough.  I didn't feel super full, just right.

Your mouth can't fit about the whole thing. You need to take it slow because ingredients are ready to bust out of that meat containment.

Since the sandwich is wrapped in this plain paper (not wax), the juices soak into the paper and parts of it start ripping. I really think they should switch to wax or butcher paper. By the time, I got to the beach, the juices started soaking through the bag.

SERVICE
Very personable and attention-to-detail. Loved it! A very matter-of-fact attitude behind the counter.

Bring cash.

All in all, I was super happy to be eating here. Really made my trip to Ft. Lauderdale great. Good food is always a priority.

Yelpers who also subscribe to Zagat may be shocked to see that a simple sub counter has a food score of 27, the same as some of the best and most expensive fine dining establishments in the country. But, one visit to this famous South Florida haven should convince even the stuffiest skeptics.

Despite the no frills atmosphere, Laspada creates delicious, decadent subs packed with fresh ingredients and heapings of Boar's Head meats. While the sub creation process is in full view to every consumer, it's hard to put a finger on what makes Laspada so transcendent. Is it the freshness of the veggies? A secret spice in the Italian seasoning? Sub rolls baked with ambrosia? The charming staff talking smack to one another as your sub works its way down the assembly line then later insisting on giving you free refills of their awesome lemonade. Or, the extra touch of wrapping the veggies with a couple final slices of meat so that it hits your palate first? I have no idea. But, I do know that Laspada deliver unbridled bliss.

Huge subs built with attitude.  Fresh meats cut as you order and flung down the line to your waiting hoagie roll.  I always leave stuffed and have enjoyed the meal, just don't think the taste makes the cut for 4 stars.  Certainly worth your time, far better sub spot than than anything else I've encountered nearby.

These are the most delicious submarine sandwiches you will find ANYWHERE!!  I cannot believe someone would give this place 1 star.

The Monster and the Italian are by far my favorite.  The meat is always fresh, sliced in front of your eyes, and the sweet peppers are to die for.   The only downside is that they are cash only and sometimes run out of bread later in the evening.  However, this only means that their ingredients are always fresh.

I'm almost drooling on my keyboard just thinking about it.....
I wish they had a Laspada's in San Francisco.  I miss this place so much!  :(

I can't believe someone gave Laspada's one star! I went to nova high school and would jump out to Laspada's with friends whenever we got the chance. On special occasions, friends and I would even drive 40 minutes form Coral Springs just to partake on weekends.

If you like hoagies, this will be your mecca. Get ready for a sandwich the size of your head. You may, quite literally, have trouble even getting your mouth around it, especially if you like all the fixins, as I do. Throw in a bit of brooklyn ambience, complete with your meat being thrown (yes, literally) from the slicer to your sandwich maker, anxiously standing guard with a nice, fluffy roll, and Laspada's delivers what the sandwich experience should be.

Try the Italian with some hot peppers and pickles on gameday. Can't beat it.

LaSpada's is definitely one of the better sub shops in South Florida. From the wise guys throwing meat around like an escort hired for a bachelor party to the moment you leave the door, you truly will have a one of a kind experience. They slice your meat in front of you, and the roast beef is usually always good and rare. From the slicer, your meat gets hurled through the air into the hands of the guy or girl who will build your monstrosity in front of your eyes. They spread on the mayo, mustard, and whatever other condiment you desire, then proceed to pile on the freshest veggies you've ever had on a sub. After they finish with the veggies and your sub weighs 10 pounds, another slab of meat comes flying through the air to be put on top of your veggies. Eating one of these monsters is a challenge but I always manage to muscle one down. My only problem is that I just wish their bread was a little tastier. I haven't been in a while because a new Sub Shop has the dedication of my stomach. Don't worry, read my other reviews and you will soon find out the name of the Best Sub Shop in South Florida!!!!

This place is so unique! If you live in Broward County, chances are you know about Laspada's! I've tasted the subs before on several occasions at parties and events that have been catered from there, but I only just recently went inside to order a sandwich. The experience is one of a kind!! On most days, the line at lunchtime goes just about out the door, with people piling in to order their subs. If you get overwhelmed or stressed out easily, you may want to have someone order for you, because there is definitely shouting involved, and the atmostphere seems to border on chaotic. The amazing thing that I find is that despite the noise and the hectic pace of this place, the service is impeccable and your sandwich always comes out exactly how you ordered it. Being a vegetarian, I always get a veggie sub, but all of the ingredients are fresh and full of flavor! If you're looking for a $5 footlong, I suggest you stick to Subway, but if you're really craving a quality sub, I definitely recommend this place!

Zagat-you got this one WRONG. The sandwiches here are like Subway with a higher grade meat. Boring and tasteless.
