I haven't been in one of these in about 8 years, but i remember how fun it was. So after a romp on the west side it was time to unwind after some geeky statistics studying by shooting up some younglings in LaserQuest. I shoulda known it was gonna be like this on a weekend: a Birthday party here, a group of football kids there, but amazingly it wasn't that bad. The staff originally told us it'd be an hour wait between, so we'd thought we'd play some games while we waited, but to our dismay alll they had was a broken air hockey game and a couple of stand-up racing games. the arcade portion definitely needed an upgrade. The staff saw us mulling around and asked ups if we wanted to get into the next one we were like "COOL!"
The Game-play is standard: either team play or everyone for themselves. The maze inside is relatively big and it is used well, it's easy to weed out ppl trying to snipe and as easy to find a little nook to do your own sniping. even for a Saturday nite it wasn't that overrun with kids, but you didn't notice. All you wanted to do was shoot ppl!!!
After the game i looked at the rankings... coming in 5th place wasn't too bad after a 8 yr hiatus. next visit tho' i'll be ready to shoot for #1
If you want you want a little Laser Fun I would recommend this place. My little brother(13) had been begging me so I finally caved and found this place.
The prices seemed good and they had special deals depending on the day. We did 3 matches and the park was large enough where I was still trying to figure out how the youngsters found some of those hiding spots. While we were there we saw a large birthday group of of "midgets" otherwise known as 6 yr olds, another group of teenage girls, and of course a couple of mom's and dad's getting in the mix. They do have AC, but by the time a round's done you will be sweating.
The thing I liked the most about this place is that it did not try to do to much. It has a limited aracade just to pass the couple minutes between rounds, and a large side room for parties, and that's it.
Quote of the Day..."Kill the giant!" Heard from the pack of wild midgets I was desperately trying to get away from:)
Many a lock-in, birthday party and aimless Friday nights were spent at Laser Quest, running for our little pubescent lives. Actually, what a clever way to get your kids to exercise! Give 'em lasers, fluorescent graffitied walls of a fictional metropolis where they are the very threads that weave the tapestry of gang territories, let 'em choose cute nicknames like Bad Macaroni, and you've got 'em spending energy like hamsters on an endless wheel of cat-and-mouse. Those were the best.
As for Bad Macaroni: we still talk. He was the coolest team captain.
PEW PEW PEW!
"Mommy! That old guy shot me again!"
"And I'll zap your six-year-old butt back to Xargon Quadrant Alpha if you come into my sniper spot again!"
Laser Quest is a good spot for Laser Tag. The staff is friendly and move the games along quick. The combat area is appropriately black lit and consists of two stories with plenty of twists turns and aformentioned spots that are perfect for sniper mode. I played four games and never had a gun malfunction, and the crowd that was there was mixed in ages but everyone was good natured.
The only thing that keeps me from giving them 4 and 1/2 stars is that we didn't play any team games, every game we played that day was a free for all.
