Las Vegas Ski & Snowboard Resort
6 reviews for Las Vegas Ski & Snowboard Resort
A welcome alternative to sitting at slots and tables on the strip. If you're in town and have some free time during the day, head to the hills! It's like 40 min away. NO HELMETS AVAILABLE TO RENT.
Lackluster staff, but who cares. Just don't fall off the lift or something, because the lift operators won't help you from what I've seen.
First aid crew seem to run around all over the place. They wanna write reports before they hook you up with bandages and stuff, even if a buddy of mine was bleeding profusely from the head.
2 real lifts, 1 bunny lift. Kinda icy when I went, the groomed parts on the side with the ramps was kinda tore up like the town hooker so try to catch the other lift.
It's a hike from the end of the parking lot. $50 lift ticket, $45 for half day. Again much better than sitting in a casino with a bunch of nasty cigarette smoke.
I don't know about this place, It's a little pimple. You know i've been here when conditions have been fun...but I can't call the operation good because mother nature was kind. I have a couple problems with this place;
1. $50+ lift tickets with half day for like 5 dollars less. (ouch...your hurting my anus) Perhaps if your lifts were modern..or you had some justifiable amenities 50 would be ok...but NO.
2. The first time I took my 5 year old son to learn to ride (snowboard), I tried to hike on a small, out of the way, mellow part. I was stopped by the kooky staff who told me that we couldn't hike, that we needed a lift ticket. Now, I grew up on the hill (in the nw) and never once was hassled for hiking without a lift ticket. Most would admire a young kid learning to ride, but in the name of $ we got the boot, after I berated the kook.
I guess they think they run a five star "resort", and where else are you going to ride this close to Vegas? I'll admit I have to break down and buy a lift ticket occasionally, but it kills me. There's NO challenging terrain,
Seems like you take a 15 minute ride up and a 2 minute ride down. So yeah, whatever. It is what it is.
With a 45-minute drive from Vegas, you can go ski on perfectly good...icy snow. Hrmph.
There are only 3 ski lifts at this so-called ski & snowboard resort. The black diamond course seemed too intimidating for my pathetic self and the conditions on the intermediate course were horrible and icy, so I was told. I didn't feel like breaking my bones or getting ass bruises, so I went and dominated the third course..."Rabbit Peak." How cute. It takes about 20 seconds to go down this course, which is way too short, in my opinion. But it was the bunny slope, so I couldn't have expected much.
The price of the lift ticket and equipment rentals did not justify the skiing here. It was $80 NOT well spent.
(insert sad face here)
i give this place 2.5 stars. def not the best, but it's not bad either. the first time here was about three years ago, and only 2 of the 3 lift were open. meaning only one side to ride down b.c the first lift is the bunny slope. this past friday had much better conditions and all three were open. i don't make it out very often, maybe two or three times a year, so each time it's like starting brand new. and i always start carving on my last run. i'd say it's only worth it when there's a big storm and a fresh layer of powder on the mountain. and when i found out my fam bam was spending christmas in vegas this year i was excited b.c of the pictures of snow covering the strip about a week before.
food isn't anything to praise. 7 buck chuck for a stinking cheeseburger, lame! on the upside, 6 bucks for a pint of oktoberfest is never a bad deal!
Two stars for the resort and I added another star for the help and hospitality of the ski patrol.
Who would have ever thought there would be a ski resort in the middle of the desert? This place is just 45 minutes away from my house, so I figured I might as well try it out. At the time, there were only 2/3 of the lifts open. The "longer" lift is just a hill that goes downwards. Nothing special. If there were more snow, it would have been fun to carve through the trees. The shortest lift really is short! I thought it was a joke, it's truly a bunny slope! On the other hand, there are a few rails and boxes for people to practice on. My boyfriend tried the rail and totally ate it. It left him with a scab on his shins and bruises on his arms. When he showed me in the lodge, my first reaction was to go first aid. As I approached a member of ski patrol, they fixed him right there in the lodge. No need to go anywhere, they'll come to you. They were really friendly and even gave him extra band aids to take home.
This resort is NO WHERE near comparison to the resorts in Tahoe but it appeased my fix for a little snowboard action.
Not really the greatest place to ski. There was about an inch of snow when I went, but plenty of ice if you like something hard to fall on. Nothing ha really changed since the last time I went which was a couple years ago except for the price of holiday rates which were raised to $50 for an all day lift ticket and $35 for rentals, the same price you can get almost anywhere else with better slopes. The rental lines took about an hour to wait for. The food's also expensive, but that's to be expected anywhere. It's not that I didn't have a good time, but it's more about the condition of the place. On the bright side, the equipment they rented out did get a bit better so that's a plus. It's also the only choice if you want to go somewhere that's just an hour away.
