There's not a lot in the way of "quality" museums in Las Vegas.  You'd think there would be for locals who don't exclusively live and breathe The Strip, but it's not the case.

I stumbled across the Natural History Museum purely by accident in the form of a tourist brochure.  With a Smithsonian backing, I was hoping for the best.

The museum is very reasonably priced.  $8 per adult, and there are "Buy 1, get 1 free" coupons on the website.  More than fair.  The museum is well spaced with friendly staff, and there is a lot to see, from Africa to natural life in the desert, snakes, bugs and more.

My personal favorites were the shark feeding area, where little sharks and manta rays swim around the tank bobbing their heads out in hopes of a meal (feeding time from the trainers were entertaining), and the animatronic dinosaurs, which was a really nice set up.

I will admit that I appreciate a good sense of humor, and a little "seasonal bonus" made my day.  One of the dinos was wrapped up like a mummy with a little plastic pumpkin beside it for some prehistoric Trick or Treating.  I laughed, as someone on staff is apparently having a good time.  Ah, the magic of Halloween.

The museum is really nice.  It has so much potential to do so many things, and I would like to see the city (or somebody) devote some funds to help the museum reach the goals that they are so obviously trying to accomplish.  I just kills me that this city is in some dire need of culture and "fun" education, and places like this deserve that attention.

It's a great way to kill an hour or two.  I look forward to the Egyptian exhibit opening up next year.

I'll be going back, myself, and lending my support.  Recommended.

I just brought my 3 year old son here last week and what a treat it turned out to be. He loved it! The displays were so releastic, educational, and fun. I mean my son just turned 3 and is not quite reading and still came out of there with a lot of new knowledge. He is also really into dinasours, so the dinasour room thrilled him. He also really enjoyed all the live animals they had, shark, sting ray, fish, turtle, lots of bugs, snakes, bearded dragon, etc. He had a blast and I know as he gets older he is going to love it more and more. As an adult I also really enjoyed it and learned many new things.

What a gem to have such a large museum in Sin City. At $8 per adult and $4 per kid it is very fairly priced when compared to other Natural History museums around the country. Very easy to google a buy one get one free coupon though, so try that before visiting!

Located next to a park, across from Childrens museum and adjacent to the Old Morman Fort this is totally an area to hang out at ALL day.

The variety of exhibits at this museum is great, a little bit of everything. Yes some of the exhibits are old, some are kind of cheesy, but it just shows you that Vegas isn't putting their money where it needs to be.

Take your kids and view this museum through their eyes and you will have a blast!

Our natural history museum is pretty laughable when compared to other cities', but it's definitely worth visiting and supporting.

I had purchased one of those coupon books from a school kid and it had a 2-for-1 admission coupon inside so I grabbed a pal and we went.  I remember going in elementary school, but it was different than I remembered.  There was a room of various taxadermies of local animals, some replicas of extinct animals, a tank of sharks, a few dino skeletons and some animated ones, exhibits showing the progression of man in Nevada - a lot of exhibits were dedicated to the evolution of the desert.  It was intensely fascinating.

Some of the exhibits were obviously older, but the information was great.  I encourage anyone with an interest in science or with young children to make the trip here.  It's a good time, and it's a good museum to support.  Hopefully with enough support it can one day expand into something greater.
