Okay now, let me see, why was it again that I haven't been to this place sooner?  Hmmm...oh, right!  It's because, after hearing all the hype around the neighborhood and reading the other Yelp reviews, I had a feeling that these sandwiches would be highly addictive and my waistline does not need another reason to expand.  Yep, that was it!

I freely confess that I am somewhat of a picky eater.  Taken individually, all of the "condiment" ingredients on the torta leave me underwhelmed.  But sandwich them all together with some freshly grilled meat inside that pillowy-soft bread and it's like a party in your mouth.  My grilled chicken torta also came with jalapenos on the side so I could add exactly the right amount of kick.  Oh, mama!

I can't wait to try some of the other menu offerings.  I am really in trouble now, but in a muy delicioso way.

    Las Tortas, tortas virgin...no more!

I've never been to Las Tortas, let alone eaten a torta.  First time experience can only be described as deliciousness in my stomach.  The menu breaks down fairly easy for first timers and the staff is very friendly and more than willing to help you out.  All tortas come with layers of "condiments," ie beans, mayo, tomato, avocado (the best topping ever), etc.  You can choose your own meat combination or a torta from their "named" menu.  Everything is made to order, so there is a little bit of wait time, but all good things are worth waiting for. The restaurant is clean, smartly decorated, welcoming, and with more than enough seating for those who dine in.

The portions are large enough to share with another if you're looking for a light lunch or snack!

Stopped by after driving in the area not knowing where to go.
We've heard about tortas but never tried them. Glad we took the chance.
Very impressed by the freshness and quality of food. Good portions- you won't leave hungry. The meat is tender and plentiful. The bread was crispy and yummy.
Very nice employees. Looking forward to our next visit.

Tortas here are really good. Tasted the nortena (milanesa steak, cheese) and jalisco (chicken) torta and both were delicious, and the only reason they got 4 stars rather than 5 was because I couldn't tell the difference between the two flavors of the tortas. I think those ingredients are different enough for you to be able to taste the difference, but other than that I WOULD RECOMMEND! I will be back to try the other tortas!!

Food was very good, but service was excellent.  We went on a Sunday night, and, even though the staff was going to have a late year end staff party, we were not rushed and received warm, friendly, timely service.  We really enjoyed our server.  Thanks!

Stopped by after an event at the Mexican embassy across the street from the Mexican embassy. I had a torta de milanesa. I was pleasantly surprised at how good my torta was. One order was very generous, and thankfully was cut in half to take home. The price for the tortas are very reasonable.

The marijuana dispensary just a few doors down added the funny smell typical of those places, so appropriate! Go get your prescription filled and walk a few steps and get your munchies.

The staff were supersweet and friendly too. How refreshing! I will definitely return for many servings.

This place has amazing tortas!  It comes with several toppings including avocado for free which is awesome.  My only concern is that there are no fish options and it's a little pricey for a tortas but it will definitely fill you up!

Great place to stop in for some quick and tasty food.

Wow! A tiny little restaurant all for tortas! It's like a dream come true. Anyway, I ordered the Mexican Grilled Cheese which comes with eggs and three different cheeses. My boyfriend and I were the only patrons at the moment, so we were able to hear and smell our tortas being prepared (eggs being cracked and the aroma of hot butter), which gave us some re-assurance that las tortas uses fresh ingredients.

The Mexican Grilled Cheese was delicious, with melted cheese oozing out everywhere. If the yolks of the eggs had been runny I think I would have died of joy. While the tortas were wonderful, the price for these sandwiches were a little steep. $7.49 for a Mexican Grilled Cheese. If tortilla chips and salsa were provided with the torta I probably wouldn't mind the cost, but when two Jarritos and two tortas cost nearly $20? Anyway - the tortas were great and I'll be making a trip back here.

My understanding of Las Tortas is very akin to my understanding of the single-life a.k.a. the dating world a.k.a. the pre-marital side of reality.

I, like most others, always hope to learn from my past, and as such, operate in accordance to what would hopefully prevent a really bad, disappointing date.  So (DUH!)- if you always choose the same person, over and over, you eventually learn to ignore tortas on the menu because they'll consistently arrive so sloppy and uneventful that it's almost uncanny!  But, eventually, a friend, of a friend, of a Yelp friend finally convinces you to give someone, who you'd normally avoid, a chance, and as a bonus, you don't have to invest much because there's a convenient LivingSocial coupon online.

So, you assume the courage, meet the date (i.e. Las Tortas), and conclude that the single-dimensional characters that you always used to meet are still maybe a dime-a-dozen but that eventually you will pull a diamond.  Las Tortas is definitely a shiny multi-dimensioned best friend because you are allowed to get the goody two-shoes (i.e. asada), the trouble-maker (e.g. chorizo, milanesa), or BOTH sandwiched together into layers of flavor.  Yup, you get to choose the amount of meat, the type of meat, the toppings, and still get it all put together so clean and crisp that it's practically panini pressed... oh wait, it is!  Now that's quality!

Alas!  You've met The One that fits you so perfectly that you swear no one else has it as good as the way you order it.  Birds chirp and sing lullabies and blah blah blah.  Let's just say that it's liberating to finally wake up on the right side of the bed, with the right person in your life; so liberating that as you remove all inhibitions and stare lovingly into their eyes, you want to casually cock your hand back, slap them hard in the face, and say,  "WHERE THE HELL HAVE YOU BEEN ALL MY LIFE?"  Yep, that's pretty much Las Tortas.. and dating.

    Great food! Friendly staff!

I was very skeptical about trying this place, but my husband kept bragging about how good their sandwiches are.

Finally! I built up the courage to make the trip down to Las Tortas, and boy am I glad I did! their bread is soft and very flavorful, and having it toasted is just the icing on top of the cake! I had the steak torta, and it was so tender, and big that I couldn't finish it all. I was a little disappointed that they dont put beans on their sandwiches unless you specifically ask for them, but it was still very tasty without the beans!

They were fast taking my order, and quick to get it out. The man taking our order was friendly, and explained how we should order because their menu has so much to choose from... So all in all I highly recommend this place!

When I visited Las Tortas I was having a sh*&ty day.  I think I'd done something stupid to piss my girlfriend off, I wasn't feeling very well and I might've been a bit hung over.

The solution?  A torta.  These Mexican sandwiches are amazing.  Large, tasty, cheesy, meaty... oh man.  You could easily split one with a friend if you want to share, which you likely won't.

Grab a bottle of Jarritos to go along with your sandwich and enjoy this gem.

After reading the Yelp weekly lauding this place for awesome Mexican, I couldn't wait to get over here.  Don't be scared by its 'strip mall' location, adjacent to one of our many local marijuana dispensaries.

After checking out the small, but awesome selections of Tortas, my wife ordered the Pachuquena and I got the Ahogado Tradicional.  Apparently not many non-Mexican's ordered my selection as the response was "Are you Sure?"  Then when he asked Hot or Mild, my wife responded "Test Him" - never a good sign when the two guys making your sandwich have that sneaky grin.

Anyway, the food was outstanding - the meat was SO tender!  Despite the fact that my mouth was quivering due to the heat by the end, I wanted the sandwich to never end.  My wife's was equally as awesome.   I also had a couple Marg's - yep, you may think by their great taste, that there is no Tequila.  Like my sandwich, the alcohol also snuck up on me.

We ended up chatting with a couple of the 'servers' - they were super nice and gave some great suggestions for next time. I am definitely going with the Cubana!

One of those "Hole-in-the-Walls" that everyone dreams of finding!

    Wow! This place is awesome!
I have lived around the corner from this place for almost 4 years and never tried it until today!
I got the chorizo and chicken sandwich (tortas) and it wad amazing! It had avocado, tomato, sauces, onion, everything.  It had wonderful flavors! Each sandwich is around $7-8 and they are filling. I could have split one, but I didn't because it was so good I didn't want to share.
The outside of the building lacks excitement but the inside wad nice, clean, and way more inviting than the outside. Remember don't judge a book by it's cover ;) and try this place.
The staff was helpful when I asked for suggestions. I mentioned to them that they should sell their sandwiches at the cherry creek farmers market. I think they would do awesome!
We will be back for sure.

Las Tortas "is the best sandwich you can get in Denver, do you know why? It just can't get any better than this" is what my boyfriend said as we came to visit here for the second time. I couldn't agree more, the meat, the avocado, the bread is basically the perfect lunch, and you can't beat the price either. If you are in Denver, you have to try this place!

Add me to the believers...I don't do reviews [this is my first!] But I have become so jaded about mexican food around here and what gets passed off as authentic....

Try this place. Then I will actually have hope again that this area will actually support a shop that doesn't do the same yellow cheese-sludgey green chile dreck that wins by default around here.....

Yes, it is limited to tortas, but this joint cooks all it meats fresh when ordered, make their own sauces and they put combos together that I have never seen in the torta shops in Mexico...outstanding! Now if someone will just open a legit taqueria.....

Now this is some good schtuff.  I've had Las Tortas on my rador for quite some time, but hate fighting the traffic on Colorado Blvd to get there.  Well, it was worth the 30 minutes of lunchtime traffic.

The bread, supreme.  The pork, divine.  The salsa perfect.  I got the tradicional which comes with just bread, meat, salsa, and some onions.  This friends, is a sandwhich, and it's cheap!

Las Tortas, I thought I'd written a review for you a long time ago...

This is my favorite torta place in town! I usually come to Las Tortas with a mission, to eat a Torta de Milanesa, I'd ordered one of their signatures tortas before, but its way too many ingredients making it hard to concentrate and enjoy all the flavors at once. The milanesa falls into their "build your own torta" where you get to choose the meat items, then it's pretty much the same, which includes: refried beans, mayo, tomatoes, onions, avocados, melted cheese and chipotle sauce.

From all the torta joints I've tried in Denver and Aurora, Las Tortas is by far the best; their bread is always fresh and always moist, in contrary to the other famous torta joints. Their prices are competitive to others. The regular size is enough for one big hungry person or for 2 regular people, the smaller size is usually enough, but for only 50 cents more you can build a regular torta with one meat.

Gave them a try the other night on the suggestion of a friend/Chef. Ordered a torta with carnitas, because i always go with carnitas when trying a new Mexican joint. Very tasty and good sized sandwich. Will definitely be going back to work my way down the meat list. You hear that Pollo? i'm coming for you next. Will be changing my rating to 4 if they are as good as my 1st visit.

...About time I made it to this plane of Nirvana.  Between the hungry hordes of people that rated it 4 1/2 stars out of 5, and my good friend Robin H raving about this place, I was hungry enough to check it out being in the neighborhood today. (Course, I'm in that neighborhood ALL the time...and that could be a hazardous thing to my weight or cholesterol, I'm not sure which one is more endangered...:)

Walking in, I was greeted in a friendly manner and immediately began perusing the menus overhead.  They do tortas (Mexican-style? sandwiches), and they do them well -- grilled in panini-style on delicious bread.  Would I rather have that than BK down the block?  Hell yes.  Going through the menus, I was drooling like a waterfall before I got through them all.  The sandwiches are all the same basic construction, bread. mayo, tomatoes, onions, avocados, chipotle, cheese, meat, beans and bread.  You request the meat. Or meat combos -- and what combos they have!!!  Steak and chicken.  Chorizo and carnitas.  Frogs legs and cheetah shank.  Ok, I'm making up that last one, but it wouldn't surprise me to see it here. :D  If you come up with a combo they don't already have up on the boards, they will make it for you -- which is exactly what I did with my steak and chorizo request.  The sandwiches, by the way, are about 1 1/2-2 times the size of a standard burger sandwich, and like I said, panini-style pressed.

I don't really have words for how savory and delectable the ingredients were (especially the avocado...so ripe and amazing!), but you know how "bananas" and "pizza" and so on are supposed to be "perfect foods" and such?  Tortas from Las Tortas are now on my list as well.  Meat, veggies, grains, dairy, fruit (yes, squeaking tomatoes in there, that's FRUIT!)...so balanced, SO delicious!!!

Bonus: My Android informed me I got a 10% off coupon for "checking in" there on the Yelp app.  Really?  Cheaper paradise? DONE.

Pics GLADLY uploaded.  (This place could KILL if they were open till 11p-midnight on Fri/Sat.  Viva Burrito would go out of business.)

I am completely and utterly addicted to this place right now.  I've eaten here 3 times in the last week, once for breakfast and twice for lunch.  So I thought I should write a review and give them some credit.

There are so many things that are good here that I can't pick a favorite.  I haven't officially counted, but it's not uncommon for their sandwiches to have what seems like a dozen ingredients if you get them with everything (2 or more meats, plus egg, cheese, etc).

The bread is amazing and the perfect compliment to all the stuff on these sandwiches.  It's incredibly fresh yet sturdy enough to hold random ingredients and diced pork.

The space is nice and bright and cozy.  It's more of a quick in-and-out place but you can easily hang out in here for quite a while and not even realize it.

They only have Tortas on the menu, but I appreciate the idea of doing one thing and doing it really well.  And if you order one of these sandwiches, you are pretty much guaranteed not to leave hungry.

The tortas here are super tasty.  They're guilty pleasures, given the size of the tortas and the rather fatty ingredients in them (cheese, mayo, grease).  I love how they put them in a panini press.

The venue is pretty decent for tak out.  The only gripe I have is that the torta bread is a little stale sometimes.  Overall, a great choice for a quick lunch or dinner.

YUM! I did not know that there were "Mexican sandwiches", but these are amazing! I had the chicken and chorizo sandwich. They come with avocado, tomato, cheese, beans, and mayo (though I went w/o mayo). I ate mine open-face so i could save room for the sandwich and not fill up on bread, even though the bread is amazing.
Looks a little sketch from the outside, but really nice inside and SO good!!! Definitely worth a visit, and then 10 more :)

Dear god! These things are serious bidness. Thank you Hans for bringing me here when I was dying of hunger.  He said we could share a sandwich, and I laughed in his face. But I was dead wrong. I ate half and was way too full.

I got a steak torta with no tomatoes.  They come with refried beans, fresh sliced avocado, onions and chipotle sauce. Hans spoke spanish to the guy at the counter and got us some hot sauce to accompany these bad boys.  If you do a build your own one meat, its $6.49 plus tax. Specialty sandwiches go up to around $8 or so. They also have amazing horchata that refreshed me on a rather warm day!

I'll be back for certain, just next time I'll bring Matt to share my other half or get a small!

A very good sandwich prepared in front of you with fresh ingredients.  I'll most definitely be back.

Myself and a friend checked out Las Tortas for the first time today and we both thoroughly enjoyed our food! The place may look iffy on the outside but dont be put off; the inside is nice and the food even better! The owner was also very kind and accomidating. I will most assuredly go back to try something new.

Just tried this place for the first time tonight. A new favorite. Friendly and helpful staff. Good music playing. Pleasant decor. Delicious, fresh, flavorful sandwiches. Can't wait to bring some friends here for lunch!

Awesome spot, consistently good food. 1 torta will fill even the biggest appetite.
Little bit pricier than a torta from a taco truck or a genuine Mexican joint  but you also have some piece of mind with how nice the layout is and how clean the shop is. Best of all, you don't have to drive to the "hood" for authentic goodness as this is right outside of cherry creek.
