What a great park to spend a sunny afternoon in. I was hired to http://www.Grillaxin.com this past weekend at picnic area 4 for a 1st birthday party and what a beautiful location. We were right next to the water and "spray ground" so the kids were with in view the whole time.
Lots of open grass area for organized games and sports. There was also plenty of shade as there were lots of mature trees in the park. I loved how the playground itself was on its own "island" where you would have to walk across a bridge to get there.
Parking is a little scarce on the weekends but overall a great park for kids, families and pets! -

doggie park:
*all dirt - as long as my dog is running off her energy in a safe environment, i could care less about how dirty she can get (but honestly, she stays pretty clean even with all the romping around)
*no seperator for large to small dogs - i prefer it that way. i like seeing doobie being social with all sizes and not restrict herself to just the small ones.
*dog drinking fountain - lots of water for dogs, and can easily be changed out by owners.... (i have noticed tho that some owners will pour a fresh bucket of water for their dog, their dog sips, their dog goes to play, and when the dog returns to come drink a few minutes later, the owner will pour out THE FULL BUCKET of water (that they just filled!!) and fill a brand new one.... i always cringe, as i think its really wasteful)
*balls balls balls! - there is usually an abundance of tennis balls here for the dogs to play with (i think i overheard that people donate them throughout the year)
*proper disposal - there are at least 4 garbage cans, 4 hanging boxes that hold plastic bags, and tons of pooper scoopers to properly dispose of your dogs poop [everyone i've seen at this park is really good at picking up after their dogs]
*the regulars - most of the dogs are regulars so its great for socialization and "play dates" hehe. i have NEVER encountered a vicious dog.
the park, park:
* big with trees providing great shades for the tables and bbq's... two park sectionals. one i feel is catered more to toddlers and the other for the older kids..both with the "boat/sea theme" there is a water feature that you can pay to have turned on (can pay for increments of 2 hrs) , for such a huge park, its pretty limited on bathroom (theres only 1 stall in the womens). annnd the bathroom is across the park, away from the play features and doggie park, i dont like that part. has a huge field for a soccer tournament. has a baseball field and tons of tennis courts.
but anways... its still a great park. -

Great place, really spacious. Huge play areas. Lots of surrounding water in manmade fountain/pools (for looks only, not to play in). Dog area (safe for kids b/c it's enclosed). Sometimes I can see & hear the wild green parrots in the trees.
The "rock" climbing (not like rock climbing, it's more like a mini hill w/a cement slide, always fun for laundry duty) area is fun but can be a little scary if you're a parent looking on; if the kids fall, they'll fall onto rock or cement and they're pretty high. Play areas for big and lil kids, have also been to a birthday party there. My kid loves it, there's a play area in sand that's supposed to be a wrecked boat on an island or something like that. LOTS of open grass areas, just watch out for the poop. -

Las Palmas is a beautiful park with big shady trees, well-maintained playground equipment, 16 tennis courts, decent bathrooms, grills, tables and a big dog park.
Dogs of all sizes can run free in the dog park--the only draw back is the hard packed dirt (instead of grass.) There are plastic movable chairs, so pet owners can have a seat, while their pooches frolic and mingle with each other. When I'm bored, I add dialog to the actions of each mutt: "Look, I'll let you sniff my butt, but only if we can play afterward." BYOTB (Bring Your Own Tennis Ball.)
In the summer, there is a "water feature" where kids can cool off and get their splash on. In winter, the "mini lake" is drained. But you can enjoy a picnic any time of the year. Bonus: you're allowed to use your "outside voice" here. -

Love this park! I`ve been coming here since days/weeks after I was born because it`s just about a 10 minute walk from my house. It has everything - swings, jungle gyms, fountains and a dog park. I don`t have a dog so I`ve never been in the dog park but I see people take their dogs in there all the time. As for the other stuff, there`s always plenty of space for whatever you want to do. Barbecue grills are available as well. In the summer time, you can turn the water on for the concrete playground with a slide and everything. Tennis courts, a duck pond [that doesn`t always have water but oh well] and so much green grass, you could farm your own vegetables!

Decent park. I like the water/island feature with the playground on it - kinda adds some visual interest. The dog park is nice and big but I hate that it is all first instead f grass - who thought that was a good idea!? Yes, let's all have our dogs go play in the dirt lol. I'm sure it has something to do with people not stepping in giant turds camouflaged by tall foliage.... But the durst still kinda sucks (my dogmis white....yeah....)
But overall the park and area is nice! -

This park is a hidden gem. It's fairly large, and it offers something for everyone. There's a baseball field, soccer field, tennis courts, a wonderful playground for children, a dog park, and even a fun little lake you can walk around.
Make sure that if you're coming here for a picnic on the weekend to go early. Spaces and tables fill up quick. If you're okay with throwing down a picnic blanket and just enjoying the sun on the grass, then this park is a place you're going to love.
If you're not dog-friendly, don't mind coming here. It's always filled with dogs, small and large.Listed in: Pet Hangouts!

Love this park. Great for kids. Nice little Kebab resturant around the bend. The dog park area is too dirty and dry for me. Lots of big dogs when I have gone. The play area is my favorite though, youcan beat a water feature and a play area that is like an island. Def worth a visit, not too hot!

Great place to have picnics and BBQ parties. The parking lot fills up quickly too so come early to grab a table or parking spot. I just bring a blanket and chill on the grass with a large picnic basket. The dog park is big but there is no separation for big or small dogs. Most of the dogs are well behaved and get along with other dogs.

This is a very nice park for picnics and such since the grassy area is very big. the palm trees and the water around it makes it look like a water park aside from the playground. parking lot fills up quickly so early picnic arrival is highly recommended! A tennis courts and baseball field are available for the public. Lots of shady resting areas too. Highly recommended park.

This is one of the best parks in the Silicon Valley. It is hidden away, but it's worth taking the time to find it. Sort of like the clitoris.
Las Palmas features an ample amount of space for everyone to enjoy all it has to offer, which includes two different playgrounds, a nice baseball diamond, a well maintained soccer field, plenty of grass to fly kites, picnic tables, a dog park area, walkways, and plenty of beautiful trees to provide shade (if you happen to forget to pack your SPF 80).
For the most part, I come to this park to play soccer. But at times, I have come here with the La Novia to take a stroll, read a book on a blanket, or just relax. But I would definitely also recommend this place for walking a dog, having a barbecue, or celebrating a child's birthday as it has ample space for kids to run, play, and maybe even set up a one of those bouncy houses so they can sweat out their ADD.
In the end, this is a great park for all ages. As I said before, this place is hidden away, but it's worth taking the time to find. You'll be happy you did.

This park is awesome! It's kind of hidden but a great find once you find it. It has a dog park, tennis courts, bathrooms, playground, water park for the kids, tables and BBQ grills.
Yesterday was HOT so after church my husband, kids & I decided to go lounge at the park with my in-laws. My husband chose Las Palmas because we knew it was going to be hot and they have a water park for the kids to cool off in. Unfortunately the water wasn't turned yesterday :( but we still plan to bring the kids back to play again. -

very cool park , great for kids specially on a hot day!
The park people need to enforce the reservation though... a friend reserved the tables, but people refuse to leave... -

Every year my husband throws a huge party to celebrate...himself. He was born on St. Patrick's Day, so it's a natural time for a party anyway, and he usually invites 50 or so people and makes his famous tri-tip. The last few years we've been having the BBQ at Las Palmas. It's great because the picnic area is next to a play ground and a dog park, so our friends can bring their kids and their doggies, and everyone is happy.
Las Palmas doesn't take reservations "out of season" (before Spring), so it's first-come, first-serve for picnic areas. This morning I arrived at the park about 8 a.m. to reserve a place for our 11 a.m. start time, and got a great sunny spot right in between the soccer field and the playground. This was fine, b/c I watched a soccer game, and then a husky named "Rocky" escaped from the dog park and ran right in the middle of the game. He was a pretty good footballer, too - think he scored at least one goal, but then got yellow-carded for licking the ref - before his owner finally chased him down and nabbed him. -

Great park. Shady in the right places. Large pond with fountains and big lawns give it a lush feel.
However, the water feature costs $60 (and that's not a typo) for the parky powers-that-be to turn on the water for two hours. Nevertheless, my two toddlers and a dozen other kids had a great time in the accumulated brown sandy water next to the (turned off) water feature. This impromptu pond had uneven sand for a bottom, six inches deep in places. My littlest one never ended up dunking herself, but it smells like a lawsuit waiting to happen. I guess this is what happens when cities run out of cash. -

This 16.5 acre park has something to offer everyone. A large children's play area on an island surrounded by a cool waterway, a picturesque pond where the kids can often feed ducks, picnic areas, barbecue grills and plush lawn space for baseball games, touch football or kite flying. There is even a good-sized fenced in dog park.
Check it out , there's plenty of space for all two and four-legged friends to blow off steam. -

The park itself is nice. Pretty. The pond is kinda dirty. We fed the ducks which was nice. There is a boat play area and another play area but not real appropriate for toddlers. I have a 19 month old and wasn't very comfortable with him playing there. However, in a few years would def go. That's why I gave it two stars.

Review for the kids play area
Design is amazing! The park is absolutely gorgeous. Toddler area has partial shade which is a plus. The other area has a ship design. In terms of play, they can be kept busy for about an hour. I consider this a medium size park. Perfect for little kids and family picnics. I am definitely a fan. -

This review is for the dog park:
Big area, all dirt, has chairs and benches for the owners. I haven't really been to any other dog parks, but I like this place a lot. Every time I go, there is a good mix of big and small dogs and so far they have all been well behaved. Owners are also friendly and it never gets super crowded. Water for dogs + doggy poop bags are provided. Great place to go!
Random perk: Tennis balls. Lots of them. -

Nice park overall, but the doggie park could use some remodeling.

This is a great park for kids, adults, and dogs alike! There's something for everyone here - a play ground, a dog park, walking paths, a softball diamond, picnic tables, bbq pits (need reservations), people playing soccer, volleyball, ultimate frisbee, etc. There's a pond and water features that are on during the spring, summer, and fall. There's also plenty of parking to accommodate.

Just got home from a toddler play date at Las Palmas Park. What a fantastic spot! The playgrounds had plenty of interesting things to climb on for my two year old. I can tell he will have lots of fun in years to come. The water features and Polynesian themed structures made it really unique. Plenty of people there today, but it didn't seem crowded. We'll be back.

Large park in the middle of Sunnyvale, Las Palmas Park abuts the Sunnyvale Tennis Center, has a huge pond in the middle, a nifty playground on an island, and spacious grounds. This is an astonishingly huge park, so lots of people can come play in the park without interfering with each other. Great for picnics, barbecues, or just walking around.

I actually had a sunset picnic at Las Palams Park a few weeks ago with our work friends. And I must say, sitting by the man-made pond, and watching the geese fly by was very amorous. This is a 16 acre park in the middle of Sunnyvale, and is very nice for any occasion. I've taken my son here since then, and really enjoyed it.

i love this park . AS mentioned above it is kid friendly plus it has reservable picnic tables. It does have some non reservable picnic tables as well. It has some sort of community classes also, so check it out @ their web page.

This park is so serene and is great for walking since it's very large and has lots of shade. During the summer months the lake is filled with water and the fountains are on. When the lake doesn't have water, the kids turn it into a biking/skating area.
There's a toddler playground and a larger playground for older kids. However, they are far apart from one another so it's a little inconvenient for groups that have kids of various ages. In the summer, there's a shallow wading pond that the kids can play on. This wading pool is ideal for older kids. I find myself always having to hold my 2.5 year old son's hand in the wading pool because the ground is slippery (other parks have nonslip surfaces in their splash area).
Also, the playgrounds are an older style and are not as toddler friendly. Even on the toddler playground, I have to constantly help my son climb steps that are too large or get down the slide that is too far from the ground. Regardless, he seems to really enjoy this park. It's just not as relaxing for parents when I compare this park to other parks that are more toddler safe. -

Very nice park. The park is situated in a very nice neighbourhood and consistutes of a lush green ground, playsets for kids, tables, and a large (but dry) pool. Perhaps the pool will be filled in the summer :)
I have found the park to be very well kept, quiet and great fun for kids. Till now, I have found it to be rarely overcrowded. Very easy to take kids there and let them have fun.
Would definitely recomend this park. -

I like going to Las Palmas just to walk around. As other reviewers pointed out, there's lots of space for everyone. Walking Las Palmas a couple of times is decent exercise, and if you want to sit down with a book for a few minutes, there are benches near the tennis courts and within the grassy area where folks play soccer, or sometimes volleyball. There are different places to park if you drive there. You can park behind the tennis courts, to the side of the grill area, or behind the area where the bathrooms are located. It's in a residential area, so the overall setting is relaxing. And sometimes I see (or at least hear) a flock of parrots!
