I picked this hotel bcs it was cheap and also had a 20% discount on travelocity. Originally got a studio suite for $88 but got upgraded to a one bedroom suite on the top floor (w00t).
Full kitchen w/ dishes and silverware
TV+dvd player in living room and bedroom
Big bathroom (2 sinks)
Free shuttle from SFO
Convenient to walk to Caltrain station
And of course, free wi-fi!
Great for the price, for sure.
When I go out of town on vacation, I typically like to be in the middle of the destination city. I want the sights and the restaurants to be convenient and I want to be able to get around without the hassle of a rental car, if possible.
This time, though, the purpose of my hotel stay was different, so I came up with a new checklist of requirements:
kitchen
pets allowed
free parking
free Wi-Fi
convenient freeway access
reasonable rates
See, I'm not visiting San Francisco, I live there. We needed a place to stay (with our pet cat) for a few weeks while our home underwent a remodel. We wanted to maintain our routines as much as possible while living in a hotel: drive to work and minimize eating out.
This is the most inexpensive hotel I found with the amenities I wanted, plus more. They also have on-site laundry (free use of machines, not coin-operated) and they have complimentary continental breakfast in the morning and freshly baked cookies in the evening. We found the staff to be friendly and helpful, and dare I say, we were actually enjoying living in the hotel for almost an entire month.
We are back home now, and I would highly recommend this hotel for long-term stays. Many hotels can be enjoyable for a few days, but this is one that we enjoyed for such an extended time, which I think really speaks volumes about the hotel and its staff.
I would also recommend this hotel if you drove into the San Francisco area and/or are the sort of traveler who does not mind staying a short and easily driveable distance from your destination city, because you sure won't find hotels that give you free or even reasonably priced parking in San Francisco, nor are you likely to find many of the other amenities either. This hotel is popular for business travel, but is also a good place if you are vacationing on a budget. I saw many families with children there on the weekends, filling up on the complimentary breakfast.

We've stayed in the heart of SF before and honestly, this time around we did not care to pay for the expensive overnight parking; So we opted for this hotel. It's only 10 minutes away from SF so it's very convenient if you don't mind driving into the city.
This place definitely exceeded my expectations especially for the awesome price we paid per night!
Here's a small list of the highlights that gave them 5 stars!
* Kitchen w/ full-sized frig, mini-stove, plates and utensils.
* Lather bath products.
* Exercise room and jacuzzi.
* FREE WIFI!!!!!
* Nice-sized flat screen TV.
* FREE WIFI !!!!
* Comfortable plush pillows and comforter: NO cheesy hotel bed spread here!
* Free breakfast: Hard-boiled eggs, pastries, bagels with cream cheese, assortment of mini-canned juices, cereals, oatmeal, coffee 24 hours, fresh-baked cookies, fruits.

Oh man, this place will hold so much memories for me!
We decided to surprise our friend with a hotel room for her very own 18th Birthday so we went around the area to look for a hotel. We tried the hotels next door but they were either only for 21+ or they were fully booked!
So, very stressed, we see this place that looks almost too expensive for us and will be a 21+ to get a room. We were right! The only vacant room they had was $189.99 dollars + tax and you had to be 21.
BUT!!!! We looked so desperate to find a room that the front desk asked her manager at the back and she came out to surprise us with good news... "WE'LL CHECK YOU IN!" to quickly I said, "OH MY GOD THANK YOU!" And, to top the whole lovely chocolate sundae with more whip cream and a cherry, the lady asked are you a AAA member to which we gladly said yes.
We got the executive room (which was spacious, with a king bed and a pull out double, its own kitchen, and starbucks supplied coffee) for $169.99...BUT their front desk was SO friendly she gave us another $10 off, making it $159.99 for us! Can't get any better than that!
So here I am giving it 4 stars? Well I hate spiders, and somehow, I got a room with 2 inch spiders crawling out of the sink. Yep, there was a nest of 'em in the sink. Thank god they had in-sink erators. But still, gross. Their breakfast wasn't the best either, but it was free so why not. Definitely worth staying here.
I had a big project upgrading my client's book keeping system, that required me to be available 24/7 in order to be ready for the "go live" deadline of Monday morning. Even though I only live 30-45 mins away from my client, I preferred to book a hotel room within 5 mins away in case of any snags.
Booked the reservation through http://Hotels.com and lucked out on this property. I got the reservation for half the price it normally costs during regular high traffic business days (Sun-Thu). I was given the studio suite. Its pretty spacious for one to two persons and the place is immaculate. Having a small kitchen was great as it allowed me to buy healthy food from Safeway, and save it in the fridge. I didnt have to rely on fast food and take out for my meals. The amenities are more than suffice. The welcome basket is awesome. I definitely love the fact that the coffee maker is clean and NOT placed in the bathroom. Also, they provided starbucks coffee and not brand x. Did I mention this place has an LCD TV? I just wished I knew ahead of time so that I couldve taken my PS3 with me since I was so anxious to get work started that I couldnt sleep. The bed was one of their best assets. The sheets werent the nasty floral design thats usually provided in most hotels that are used to hide stains. The bed is comfortable. Not too hard, not too soft. There is also a comfy chair with an ottoman if you just want to kick your feet up after a long day's work. I love the fact that they catered to the traveling business person. There is a moderately sized desk where two persons can work on with their laptops, along with two reclining leather office chairs. Most places will only give you a lame circular table and a wooden chair.
The continental breakfast is suffice. If you like big breakfasts, this isnt for you. If you like to eat light in morning, it will suite you just right. The staff are friendly and quite helpful. I was treated no different when I walked in with a dress shirt on than when I was coming in and out in shorts and a t-shirt. I needed to extend my stay but the rates will double up so I had to find a comparable hotel nearby. Thats my only complaint, if any. I just wished they would allow guests that are already booked to extend their stay for the same rate they paid when they checked in. But hey, I understand, its business. Overall, I would definitely come back to this place. 5 out of 5.

I love this hotel. The rooms are so cozy! They each have a kitchenette, complete with dishes and silverware. There were a bunch of cute touches that I loved, like the "welcome basket" we got in our room. It was filled with a couple of granola bars, bottled water, and popcorn. I also really liked the "Pillow Menu", where you can choose from different style pillows such as a body pillow or contour pillow. There is a nice-sized laundry area--very clean with many machines. In the lobby area, there is complimentary Starbucks drip coffee, cookies, and apples. You can also rent a movie (DVD player in your room) for free from the front desk. They have a pretty good selection.
They do not have room service, but you can order from the hotel across the parking lot--I believe it is some sort of Hilton. They will deliver it to your room at Larkspur. I guess that is the only downfall to this hotel--there isn't that much around it, otherwise I totally recommend this place!
This is my favorite hotel in the SSF area, where I stay with some frequency due to my company HQ being on Oyster Point.
Very comfortable rooms - each has a kitchenette, desk and chair, well-appointed beds (with a pillow menu from which to choose!), nice bathroom amenities.
I've found the front desk staff to be very pleasant and helpful. Love the expanded breakfast in the morning, as well as the extra touches like lemonade and cookies in the evening!
Compared to other hotels in close proximity, the Larkspur Landing provides excellent value, quiet and comfortable accomodations, and very friendly staff. Recommended!
I thought this was a remarkable find near the airport, and I'll return anytime I want to sleep and fly out early in the morning. Further, my business partner and I often meet here and use a room with a board table to catch up on work and meetings in a quiet, retreat like atmosphere, away from our homes.
My first stay was mid 2006. I was having some rather major surgery at the nearby Kaiser Permanente Medical Center, and my drive home would have been something like 2 hours. For that reason, I booked a suite near the hospital, and planned to recoup there, instead of making the drive home.
I'm so glad I did. The staff was courteous, efficient, and helpful.
Here's a sampling of what we found:
The lodge is a form of Craftsman / Arts and Crafts and fairly attractive for being in a business park. The rooms were comfortable and clean. The bathroom was huge, with spa quality amenities by Lather Modern Apothecary.
A very comfortable, deep and soft downy bed with a pillow menu and high quality thread count sheets
Free high speed access
A full kitchenette (but microwave and stove-top only -- no oven we discovered), fridge, dishes, pots and pans, dishwasher, coffee and tea service
Complimentary grocery shopping. Make your grocery list and get it down to the front desk by 10:00 a.m. Your shopping is done for you, complimentary, and stocked in your kitchen every day, before 5:00 p.m. In my case, it was there 1.5 hours later. The cost of the goods is added to your room tab -- the service itself was free.
Complimentary breakfast. Cereals, oatmeal, hot beverages, yogurts, fruits, the usual muffins and pastries from Costco, string cheese, and hard boiled eggs.
Complimentary hot cookies in the evenings, with milk.
Complimentary wine and sushi one evening (I think it was a Friday).
Hot fire in the main sitting room.
Complimentary use of the business center, with faxes, printers, and Internet access, if you don't have your own laptop in your room.
Complimentary laundry facilities, with in-room notice when the dryer is done. You take your laundry down to the room, and load it up. You dial in your room number, and when the washer is done (or dryer), your room phone rings so you can go switch it over, or fold. My family, who kept visiting me all week, brought all their laundry with them, and did laundry each night. Talk about a neat amenity (which I obviously abused!).
A beautiful walking path about 1 mile long, deep in hedge rows with Eucalyptus trees, made for a beautiful walk each morning and each night.
A hot tub is available, but is in an odd place -- right off the parking lot, where the wind whipped up the fumes something awful.
A gym -- tiny, but efficient.
They used to let you use the pool at the neighboring hotel on some kind of courtesy basis. I think it's a Hilton Garden Inn. This pool-sharing arrangement was terminated, so no swimming.
The Hilton Garden Inn still lets you come over and use the cafe and dine. This is a plus, because this business park has no restaurant's, unless you count the food aisle at AM/PM or the Wendy's drive through.
I found the staff especially courteous. They knew I was recovering from surgery, and although the hospital is 3.5 miles away, they shuttled me back and forth for follow-up, and picking up my family, etc (the shuttle cut off is supposed to be 3 miles). They knew I was up walking every day to recover, and when i was gone longer than usual one day, they came out to check and make sure I was "doing okay." I was. So sweet. Also, one night my sister stayed with me, and wanted a toasted bagel. We toasted a bagel in the room, but I had no butter. I remembered they had butter at the morning breakfast, so rang the desk and asked if they would mind if we came down and got a few pats of butter. They said no problem, they'd bring it right up. There is no room service, but 5 minutes later, a staff person was there with a little tray with 6 pats of butter. Very nice.
Like I said, this was an incredible find, and my rate for a week-long stay in a two-room suite, with all these amenities, was $149 per night.
We liked it so much, my business partner and I schedule our meetings with one another here, in our own rooms, so we can hunker down when we have to accomplish a lot of work.

good size room. it had its own kitchen and a big bed and it was a good price. the front desk is friendly and the hot tub doesnt look that great at first glance but it was great when i went on a sunny day, theres even a bbq there. so i would recommend it and would definitely stay there again
Great hotel! The staff is very friendly and helpful. There's free shuttle service to and from the airport; free Internet in rooms and computers to use in the lobby; complimentary breakfast; free cookies in the evenings; and the rooms have their own kitchen!
Getting to the hotel was a tad tricky -- it's hiding in a business park -- but it's really close to the airport.
I worked in the hotel industry for a long time, and was blown away by the poor service at this hotel.
I typically like staying at Larkspur Landings- I like the room layouts- love having a full kitchen in my room. larkspur landings have lots of great amenities like CD player, DVD player and really comfy beds.
However, I cannot tolerate service as poor as what I witnessed on my weekend stay. The front desk manager was really rude to the guests- some of who had been waiting for 3 hours to check into their rooms. He had a complete lack of understanding that these poor people were frustrated and upset that their plans had been ruined by the fact that their hotel room was not ready. He even flat out told them that the hotel staff had lied to the people earlier in the day when they had been promised a room by 3 p.m. (normal check-in time).
For some unexplained reason he did have a room ready for me- (which made everyone waiting in the lobby pretty unhappy). He loudly announced our room number (big non-no for security reasons) and our room rate. Our keys didn't work for the room (he didn't program them correctly).
We asked him to call a cab for us to be there in 15 minutes.....we waited 45 and had to ask him 3 times to check where the driver was.
Overall, I think this hotel needs some customer service training....if I was staying for more than a night I would have checked out and moved to the Residence Inn down the street. Which is a shame because really the hotel itself is nice and comfortable. Just goes to show you that good service will go a long way and poor service will make you pay!

I choose this hotel because our company get special discount here. But it turns out to be very clean and great room with full kitchen. They even got free DVD movie rental at front desk! For the price and services it's definitely better than the traditional holiday inn, or hampton inn places. Definitely stay here again if I have to visit S.F in the future.

I have been staying at this hotel on and off over the past six months while on business trips to the South SF area and agree wholeheartedly with K.F. that it is a gem.
With regards to customer service, Hazel (the day front desk manager) is really excellent! She remembers you by name, is always super cheerful and helpful, and just does a phenomenol job making you feel welcome. I usually do not care much about customer service - just give me a clean bathroom and room - but she really makes a difference.
I have indeed witnessed poor customer service on the part of some of the other desk staff - really unfortunate they should drag down the rating of this otherwise very comfortable, convenient place. It really is a "home suite hotel" designed with business travelers in mind.
K.F does a great summary below (and thanks for the tip on the walking trail - will have to try that!) on the amenities, so I won't repeat except to say that all the little free, convenient things (wireless, laundry, healthy breakfast) really add up and save you time!
Every Christmas our family goes to Northern California to visit my family. We always take a side trip to San Francisco to visit my old stomping grounds. For the past couple years we've stayed at The Argonaut (see my review) but this year, my stepdaughter came with us for the first time, so there were five of us--too many for a standard hotel room. Most of the suite hotels are located near the airport, which was okay with us--we just needed to decide which one. I had heard a lot of good things about Larkspur Landing and I'm writing this review from the Larkspur Landing. It feels very upscale, although it is very reasonably priced. We have a one-bedroom suite with a full kitchen. The living room has a queen sleeper. It's very spacious with a large bathroom. I searched several sites--some said that we were limited to 4 people, but Travelocity said that the price they quoted was for 2 people and children 17 and under stayed for free. And we were able to make the reservation for 5 people. So we got a great deal at $107/night. Also, since they put us in an accessible room--which we didn't want--they gave us a $10/night discount on top of that, so we're only paying $97/night! (Note: They actually switched us to a regular suite on the 2nd night, but kept us at the lower rate--they really took care of us!) You can't find anything in downtown Seattle for that price. Plus parking is free and you get free continental breakfast and the laundry room is free. There are freshly baked cookies at the front desk every evening (the best peanut butter cookes ever) and there is an exercise room and hot tub. It's only 15 minutes from downtown SF. GREAT PLACE TO STAY!!!!! Oh, and a free DVD library at the front desk! I highly recommend it for families. Check it out at http://www.larkspurhot...
