Growing up as an expat, you become exposed to - and fall in love with - food items that remain hidden mysteries to most of the American public.
You discover that Australians make the very best ginger beer (Bundaberg).
You find out that Germans make these awesome hippo shaped chocolate biscuits (Kinder Hippos) filled with hazelnut coco cream. SO MUCH FUN to bite their heads off.
Also, the Italians have been hiding their best mozzarella from us - it's basically a mozzarella pouch filled with rich cream (Burrata).
Now imagine that there is a store that has all these things under one roof! And what if that store has brand new wonders to introduce you to, like all kinds of delicious sheep and goat cheeses and also these addictive small batch fig and olive crisps (Raincoast) to eat them with.
I think what I'm trying to tell you is that this place is really dangerous. But, you know, in a good way. -

I LOVE LOVE LOVE sandwiches here. Even the workers were kinda rude, I still like this place. But 4 stars 'cause it's not cheap and not enough tables. One whole sandwich is almost $10 and it's not big enough.
I like to get my sandwich with ciabatta bread, I love ciabatta here. Tuna is one of the most popular sandwich here, sometimes sells out quickly. -

Great wine shop, but I go here for the sandwiches. Very small menu (I think 7 sandwiches?) but you can't go wrong with any of them. The prosciutto/mozzarella sandwich is a standout for me. Fresh ingredients and good bread.
This place is mobbed at lunchtime. I recommend calling in an order and grab it to go (just go to the cashier directly). They have a few outdoor tables but they are occupied almost the whole lunch rush.
Also a great place to find some little food "accessories" good mustards, olives, olive oil, chocolates, etc. -

What we ordered:
SOPPRESSATA SALAMI, Spanish manchego cheese, mixed greens, sundried tomato spread, extra virgin olive oil & balsamic vinegar
IMPORTED ITALIAN PROSCIUTTO, fresh mozzarella, arugula, extra virgin olive oil & balsamic vinegar
The prosciutto is my favorite sandwich. I usually can't stand the bitterness of arugula but it works well in this sandwich. The sweetness of the balsamic and saltiness of the prosciutto really cuts the strong flavor of arugula. The cheese was very fresh...all around GREAT sandwich. They put just the right amount of extra virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar so the sandwich doesn't get soggy.
I had a bite of the soppressata salami sandwich...THE SUNDRIED TOMATO SPREAD killed it. I don't remember the taste of the cheese but a nicely made sandwich.
Their baguettes are PERFECT. I have never gotten any of their sandwiches on olive bread or ciabatta so I'm not sure what's better. The baguettes were nice and toasty on the outside and chewy on the inside. Super buttery and fresh too.
Sometimes they run out of bread and/or other ingredients. If it's later in the day, call first. There is a little bit of outdoor seating which is awesome for catching up and people watching.
How could I forget...you also get fresh cornichons and olives!!!! SO BOMB -

I love coming to Larchmont for their delicious sandwiches made fresh at the deli counter. My favorite is the #5: proscuitto, mozzarella, arugula, extra virgin olive oil, and balsamic vinegar on ciabatta. All the ingredients are incredibly fresh!

Roasted turkey is delicious! I've been going here for awhile now and its still just sooo yummy. I recently tried the Soppressata Salami which was also very good. The place is super cute but the outside seating is limited, best if you take it to go!

Absolutely AMAZING!
I just went here for my first time today. The service was very fast and friendly, and the sandwich was the BEST sandwich I've ever tasted in my life, no joke. I got the Turkey option with everything on it, and I couldn't have asked for a better lunch. I also got some potato salad which was also very tasty.
I'll be back soon for sure! -

I stopped in today around 1:30pm to get lunch after reading many positive Yelp reviews. They didn't have the tuna sandwich, and the customer service was somewhat lacking, but I was not surprised by either of those things. I ordered the whole roast turkey sandwich, and picked up a bag of chips and a soda. I wanted to buy a bottle of wine that my husband has been searching for, but they did not have it in stock. I went to sit outside and eat. Unfortunately, there were no empty tables, so I had to wait until I got home to try out my sandwich.
It was very good. The ciabatta was soft and the turkey was fresh and tasty. And the pickles were delicious. You can't ask for much more in a turkey sandwich. Half was plenty for lunch, I am saving the rest for tomorrow. I would return, maybe earlier next time, so I can try the tuna. -

Great sandwiches.
I'm a fan of fresh, but hard and crusty, baguettes. We had this bread with the salami, the turkey and the vegetarian sandwiches, and it was great.
The salami and turkey were both excellent. We got the vegetarian with mozzarella, and it was a bit soggy, but still good.
The olive tapenade and the sundried tomato spreads added depth to the flavor of the sandwiches without overpowering them.
Nice selection of bottled soft drinks, side salads and chips makes for a delicious lunch when you're shopping on Larchmont.
Enjoyed by my tribe. -

Jen B. and I decided to venture out to Larchmont, with the hopes and purpose of finding a place to buckle down and study for our final. What started off as a fun, hopeful adventure turned into a stressful, screaming-at-other-people disaster...that IS until we reached Larchmont Village Wine Spirits & Cheese. Jen had been here a previous time and raved about their sandwiches, so I was down to try it!
It's a small shop that sells cheese and what seemed like hundreds upon hundreds of wine. In the back is where the sandwich-deli is. It is small and you stand there to wait for your sandwich, which takes just a matter of minutes.
They have a handful of sandwich options and they make it fresh right in front of you. I decided to go with the half-sized Imported Italian Prosciutto ($5.00). Inside the sandwich was fresh mozzarella, arugula, extra virgin olive oil, balsamic vinegar, and of course thinly sliced prosciutto. The mozzarella was VERY soft and literally melted in my mouth. I loved the flavors of the EVOO (thanks, Rachael Ray!), and balsamic vinegar along with the saltiness of the prosciutto. The arugula gave the sandwich a more bitter taste that actually complemented the salty-sweet combination. What I didn't really enjoy was the hardness of the bread. The bread is fresh, but I like my bread more on the softer side.
Jen B. ordered the half-sized Roasted Turkey Breast ($4.50). It came with gruyere cheese, turkey breast, mixed greens, tomato, a sundried tomato spread, extra virgin olive oil, balsamic vinegar. I had a bite of hers and it tasted delicious! The turkey breast was fresh and the cheese went well with the ingredients.
They also give you these French pickles on the side which were really tasty!
We sat outside on the patio and enjoyed our sandwiches while people watching the diverse patrons of Larchmont. Very relaxing.
We didn't get one bit of studying in that day. True story. -

I really just hate poor customer service.
When you walk back to the deli, there really isn't any sign telling you where exactly to stand to order. Nor is there anyone willing to lift their head up and ask you if you're in need of any assistance. Their store was essentially empty.
Eventually one of the three girls behind the counter asks me for my order.
I ordered the vegetarian sandwich. She asked me what kind of bread I want, and I replied with "well, what do you have". She says, "Well what do you want?". I replied, "options".
This same conversation happened again when I ordered cheese on my sandwich.
Don't make me list through things that you may or may not have.
After tunneling down the wine corridor with my wrapped sandwich, I approached the register. I show the less-than-personable cashier my sandwich, as well as my card. She grabs my card and immediately swipes it without saying anything.
So I say, "Uhhh.. and how much was that?" She replied, "$11".
My receipt said $11.74. I'm not angry over 74 cents, but I'm just a little put off by their lack of communication and personality.
The sandwich was good, though the ciabatta was dry. You really can't beat the price, considering my total also included a green tea.
Certainly sufficient for sandwiches, but I'd rather go some place else. -

Lunch time! First time ever last week, I came here to pick up a sandwich for lunch. I hopped on Yelp on my phone, typed in sandwiches and this place came up. Figure why not.
Arrived within 7 minutes, street parking (don't forget to pay!). This Larchmont block area, is like a little community. Its nice here. People walking around, people eating outside the small mom & pop shops.
Store is rather small, half of it was all wine and spirits. The other half was food, snacks, a corner making sandwiches. Where all the sandwich artist were at making them yummy stuff.
Upon arrival, there was able a 10 minute wait, I ordered #7, Homemade Tuna Salad Sandwich on 1/2 ciabatta bread. I would have picked baguette bread, but they ran out. The lady before me got the last one. :(
Price:
Half $4.50, Whole $8
* prices may vary depending on the sandwiches
I will definitely return here and try out their other sandwiches, probably pick up some wine to share with the bf as well. -

Finally. After over 30 visits in the past few years, I was able to taste their Tuna for only the second time today. I almost didn't ask after 27 straight visits of "no we're out."
Their menu even reads "Tuna...sometimes."
I think they should just order more, no?
Whatevs, best sammys in LA in my opinion. I don't care what all the Westside haters/BayCity Deli people say!
Yes they are the sub nazis. You will wait in a long line, you will not receive a smile with your sandwich and you'll love it just like Newman did... Because their food is just that good!!!Listed in: Best Eats under $10

So I hear about this place and call in an order for me and my two coworkers. I order the turkey on a baguette, one orders black forest ham on a baguette, and the other orders tuna salad on ciabatta.
I finally get my order and unfortunately my assistant doesn't know the difference between ham and turkey and takes my turkey sandwich. Luckily, he only finished half so I get my other half of the turkey back and I return his. I have no choice but to take a bite into his ham sandwich and I'm already in heaven! That black olive tapenade is amazing!
Onto the other half which is my turkey sandwich...IS THERE ANYTHING MORE HEAVENLY THAN LARCHMONT VILLAGE WINE SPIRITS & CHEESE'S TURKEY SANDWICH?!?!?!?
As I am telling Jenn C. how amazing my turkey sandwich is, she tells me that it is "TRAGIC" that I could only have half of their turkey sandwich...oh well. I'm happily writing this review as I am enjoying this great Larchmont treat! -

Grabbed one of the last sandwiches right before they were cleaned out, suckas.
But felt bad afterwards because I saw a little kid screaming at the "No more sandwiches" sign on the door minutes after getting my food. Then he gave up and even rested his freaking forehead on the glass in defeat, I swear to god.
But yeah, I can understand the boy's depression BECAUSE THESE SANDWICHES ARE HEAVENLY. Got the #3 Salami and the balsamic vinaigrette on the lettuce made it allllll worth it.
Plus they give you tiny pickles with your order! TINY! PICKLES!!!! -

Love their caprese, love their italian prosciutto and loooove their tuna sandwiches...when they have it. The menu warns you they might already be out of tuna by the time you make your way down the long line to the counter. Irritating and kitschy at the same time and they know that.
LOVE THEIR WINE SELECTION!!! More pics (!!!) & review @ Taste It LA: http://tasteitla.blogs... -

Ever since I've been back from Paris, I missed good, rustic sandwiches and this store is the closest resemblance to the sammie that I had in Europe. The sandwiches I love are the prosciutto with the french baguette and the roasted turkey with ciabatta bread. The sun dried tomato spread that comes with the ciabbatta is to die for. They also don't skimp out on the deli serving for those that are concerned on the meat portions.
Besides the sandwich, they also sell aged cheese, salamis, and of course wine. I love coming to this store, getting a sandwich and with their complimentary olives and cornichons, I'm back to Paris! -

Service is lacking (the girls behind the counter making the sandwiches are always testy and b*tchy) but the sandwiches are more than enough to keep me coming back again and again. I always get the focaccia bread #3 but I should try the baguette sometime. It's different from Bay Cities -tastes lighter, fresher, perhaps healthier. It's also fairly simple compared to other "gourmet" sandwiches I've tried. The #3 is just olive oil, tapenade, manchego, spring greens, and cold cuts, but I like how you can taste all the ingredients (which are all amazing). Always lacking seating but you can deal (we wander down the street to find random benches).

This is a review of the wine and spirits part of the store.
They have a good selection and a well thought out inventory.
Don't expect a BevMo.
Prices tend to be very high, otherwise I would add a 5th star.
But here and there you will find a good deal (otherwise this would be a 3 star review).
Best to come knowing your wines, what you want and how much they go for. Then you'll be in a good place to pick up a steal or two. -

Hands down my favorite sandwiches of all time.
Cannot say how much I love this place.
#4 on a baguette (or ciabatta). That sun-dried tomato spread drives me CRAZY! I usually like heavy, meatier foods for a meal, but if I had a choice for a meal, I'd choose this over anything.
Make sure you get there well before 5pm (when they stop making sandwiches) because you don't want to end up empty-handed. It's a simple sandwich, simple-priced, and just plain delicious. -

I haven't tried a better sandwich than the ones made to order here.
I am a huge fan of the #5, which comes with prosciutto, fresh mozzarella, arugula, evoo, and balsamic vinegar. The prosciutto is SO good with a slightly salty, but meaty taste. It's a very simple, but sophisticated sandwich -- just what I like. Their homemade baguette is always so soft on the inside and crunchy on the outside.
The store carries a lot more than sandwiches, though. I've seen wines, candies, chips, juices, and I'm pretty sure I missed a whole lot more. It's definitely a one-stop-shop for a picnic.
There is a sign by the door that reads sandwiches are served until 4PM, or until they run out of bread, so order-in your order or be there early! -

Hands down, my most favorite lunch spot ever.
The sandwiches are amazing! Great quality and good tasting. The perfect food to enjoy out on Larchmont Blvd, or to bring back to the office to eat at the desk. It won't leave you feeling lethargic like some quick, greasy fast food meal would.
My favorite is the salami on a baguette. I order the full, eat 1/2 for lunch, and then 1/2 later and it's still good. It's a little over $7 for a full, and if you think getting a 5 dollar footlong from Subway is a better choice-- GROSS! Don't even compare; Larchmont Village is a whole different class of sandwiches.
Oh, and the staff is awesome! -

I've been wanting to try this place forever because there are always people sitting at the sidewalk tables eating sandwiches. It's NEVER empty. So today, me and my hubby finally went. I got the caprese on French baguette and he got half on ciabatta and half turkey on ciabatta. The caprese was good, but might be even better if they grilled their panini instead of offering it cold only. My hubby said the turkey was very dry even with balsamic and oil on it. Overall good, and nice outdoor sidewalk seating to people watch.

It's not as if this place needs another song of praise directed at them, but truly, I feel the need to positively reinforce a sandwich this simply good.
Let's get the negatives out of the way first. If you plan on coming around lunchtime, there will be a line. Two solutions: call ahead and place your order for pick-up, which is more than worthwhile if you are familiar with the menu and know exactly what you want. The other is to not be in such a tizzy, get in line, contemplate the sandwich list, and peruse the wines, sodas, meats, cheeses, side dishes, macarons, and all manner of goodies while you wait.
Secondly-when you do get up to the counter, expect to be met with some dour faces making your sandwich. Look, it's crowded behind that counter, and those folks are slinging sandwiches as quickly as they can. Sure, a little smile wouldn't kill them, but I'm not really paying them to exchange pleasantries or act like they are excited to see me. It all comes down to...
That. Sandwich. I haven't tried them all yet, though I fully intend to. The ingredients contained therein exemplify basic perfection. I recommend the baguette bread, which is supple though not incredibly heavy. It holds up to the ingredients quite well but also soaks up the uber-necessary balsamic drizzle (heaven). And the stuff between the bread seems to be of wonderful quality and freshness. I'm a fan of the veggie, add mozarella-thick slabs of delectable white cheese make this sandwich sing-and the salami, which is some of the best and most pronounced I've had from any deli.
A half size ought to do you for lunch, unless you are starving. Sometimes I go for the full size just to stretch it out into dinner. Enjoy with a sparkling soda, glass of wine, perhaps some potato salad. Grab a seat outside, take it to go, it doesn't matter-the simple pleasure of a well-made sandwich cannot be beat. Thank heavens my office is so near this place. -

The worst thing I can say about this place is that sometimes, they can't make more sandwiches because they've run out of their wonderful fresh ingredients. I usually go for a basic, mozzarella and tomato, and always order the large. Half for lunch, half for dinner.
I get most of my wine and coconut water here, for a couple of different reasons. They have excellent cheap wine (better than any I found at Trader Joe's...which everyone raves about) and plenty of fancy stuff that other people seem to be excited about. They also do a good discount for all cases, even coconut water, which helps. Plus, they'll carry your cases to the car, which really helps. -

Whaaa tha.. damn people are 5 star raving like crazy on here o_O
Maybe I'm missing something here but I really don't think this place stacks up to other amazing sandwich shops around LA.
I shared a #4 (turkey) was on ciabatta bread which was too pillow-y and had no crunch to it. I felt like it could have used some more time in the oven. Everything else in it was pretty good, but nothing extraordinary.
The #5 (prosciutto & mozzarella) was on a baguette, a bit tough of a chew. The prosciutto had a nice delicate texture but it could have used some salt to liven it up.
Maybe I'll give it another shot, but these sandwiches seemed just sorta basic. The wine however is decently priced. Maybe everyone's raving about the charm of a small shop. But when it's packed to the brim, and they're just herding out sandwiches with no love, I find it just A-OK. -

The best sandwich in L.A. I get the #3: Soppressata Salami. Spanish manchego cheese, mixed greens, sundried tomato spread, extra virgin olive oil & balsamic vinegar.
They offer half and whole sizes. I typically only eat the half.
Parking is a bit of a hassle on Larchmont, but we all know it's worth it. There's a parking structure across the street that's only 75 cents. Not bad. Also, seating is extremely limited, which is why I usually stop by and take it to go. One last thing, they serve sandwiches until they run out of ingredients. You may want to call ahead if you're going later in the evening. -

I heard a lot of good things about the sandwiches at Larchmont Wine & Cheese before I went. Unfortunately, it didn't live up to the hype. I had the turkey and it was not gobble gobble. I finished half and got bored.
There must be some sort of "group think" happening when everyone is saying these sandwiches are amazing. They're just okay.
To be fair, I've only tried their turkey sandwich. I'm sure their other sandwiches are worth killing Wilbur for.
Larchmont Wine & Cheese gets busy. There weren't any available seats after I got my sandwich. I was with great company, and we sat at a bench down the street. -

Extremely good sandwiches, extremely reasonable price...
Had the salami on a baguette... Amazing! ingredients looked spectacular and tasted even better.
Very reasonably priced, 4.50 for a half sandwich, around 8-9 for a full. The 'half' size is more like a full, and lets just say the full is extremely satisfying. -

This place is my FAVORITE place for sandwich in SoCal.
They use fresh, high quality ingredients
yet keep their sandwich simple.
I always get
#1 Mozzarella - thick and fresh
#3 Salami & manchego cheese -yum!
#4 Turkey (with avocado)
#5 Prosciutto
#6 Vegetarian
as you can tell I like everything on the menu (:
pretty much anything on the menu won't disappoint! -

Get the #3. It's incredible. By far the best sandwich I've had in LA. So good. Everything is super fresh and they make it from scratch. I could eat this sandwich every day if I had the option.
Only downside to this place is that you have to spend a certain amount to use your credit card. Easy way to remember is if you get a whole sandwich you'll be able to charge it. If you get a half, you won't. So have some cash on hand just in case. -

This is THE shee-shee liquor store to go to if you like the letters BYOB but despise D, U, and I's.
Here they have half bottles of red, white, or bubblyish. They even have the half bottles of champagne chilled and ready for posh-time.
Perfect for a romantic dinner with your GF/BF who likes only a taste. -

Yum, exactly how sandwiches should be! Fresh ingredients, freshly baked breads everyday, top notch quality deli meat (prosciutto prosciutto proscitto!! and the turkey breast is far better than that sloppy butterball stuff). Add some balsamic vinegar, evoo, perhaps some aioli spread with fresh greens atop and I can't imagine a better sandwich. Good portions, too!

This is how you're supposed to make a sandwich. Freshly baked baguettes paired with freshly sliced proscuitto, salami turkey or home-made tuna--its an absolute delight. I've always been a proscuitto person so I prefer their #5, but I've tried everything else, including the tuna, and it's all good.
I'm just curious why the workers there don't look happier; they all look steamed and droopy faced as if they work in a coal mine instead of a hip, upscale deli. Maybe they've never tried the sandwiches they make. If I worked there, that's all I would eat, uncontrollably and slovenly, until the day I fall down, dead from happiness.
The store itself is stocked with all sorts of wine, cheeses, meat, crinkly old men and the occasional celebrity.
