Iphones...
We all have them.
We've all cracked the screens at one point or another.
That's where LMD comes into play. $100 and 20 minutes later (at lunchtime, no less) and my phone was good as new! Well, at least screen wise. No more pesky bits of shattered glass in my hand :) Now, I can wait until the next iPhone generation is released before Apple gets me standing on their lines again like a chump. -

To be quite honest, I'm not sure if all the reviews for Laptop MD are legit because everyone here is raving about how great they were but I had a whole other experience with them.
Laptop MD is located on the 12 floor of a building on a sketchy looking street in midtown. Their offices are a little weird. The customer welcome area is located way in the back of their offices, making you walk by people working on computers like it's some sort of museum. I spoke with Nick who was nice enough but not super friendly. He had me leave my laptop with them and called the next day with a quote.
$275. He said my hard drive was close to frying, and that the fan also needed to be replaced. For the parts plus the labor, the cost was $275. It seemed crazy steep to me. For one, I didn't know what kind of hard drive they were going to install, and what kind of storage capacity it would have. I was hesitant! He told me that the price included backing up the existing HD, replacing it with a new one, loading all my old data on the the new HD, and replacing the fan. Then he told me that he could knock the price down to $225 if they didn't back up my data. $50 to back up my data? RIDICULOUS! I could do that at home for free. It would take me all of 10 minutes. These guys obviously over charge.
The only good thing about Laptop MD is that they do free diagnostics. -

I went here with a Yelp coupon that cost $25 for $50 worth of services. My iPhone 4 screen was shattered and needed replacing. I read a lot of good reviews about this place being quick, reliable, courteous and relatively inexpensive. Two out of four I'm afraid.
The coupon was accepted immediately, no questions asked. I was told my phone would be fixed in 35 minutes tops, so I sat down to wait in the comfortable, spacious, bright lobby where there is also complimentary water and wifi along with desktop use.
15 minutes after I sat down, another woman came in with the same issue. Her phone was taken for repair and she also sat down.
She waited for 20 minutes, and her phone was brought back to her. She paid and left, while I was still waiting.
One of the techs apologized, and told me the first screen they had replaced on my phone was malfunctioning. He took the time to explain how and why that was, and told me it would be another little wait. I said okay, that's fine - because it was. Sometimes these things happen.
Well, AN HOUR AND A HALF after I first arrived, I was getting impatient. I had another appointment at 5PM elsewhere and I had gotten to LaptopMD at 3PM. A different tech came out and told me they had replaced the screen several times and each screen had been faulty. They wanted to make sure they sent me away with a quality repair. Their honesty I appreciated...their apparent shoddy stock of iPhone parts I did not, and neither did I appreciate the delay.
Finally, at 5PM, two HOURS after I had arrived, my phone was given back to me and $5 was taken off my overall charge. I think, for wasting an hour and a half of my time, $10 or $15 sounds more reasonable. Apparently not.
Anyway, my phone is almost as good as new and they put a screen protector on the front free of charge (which is part of the service regardless, I believe). There is a 30 day warrantee on the screen should anything be wrong with it (and there may be, after all the different parts they tried with originally).
$70 is a pretty good price for iPhone 4 screen replacement, but for a place touted for its service and quality repair, I wish my experience had been less frustrating and time-consuming.
Without the coupon and the $5 reduction in price for making me wait so long, the cost would have been $100. -

Had a great experience just today with these guys. I cracked my iPhone 4 screen in a major way yesterday (we're talking lots of exposed iPhone innards, etc.) I purchased the Yelp voucher, walked in and they were able to take it in for repair immediately. 30 minutes later, it was finished and good as new. Can't ask for more than that! Beats a forced early upgrade to a 4S when the new version of the phone is likely coming out before the end of the year anyway.

If you absolutely need data recovery, laptopmd has a subcontractor named Steve that saved me from complete disaster. And that is not an exaggeration. The best thing is to go to them first so as not to further complicate the situation.

You know what? Forget my previous review. Matt Ham (the CFO) of Laptop Md decided to email me personally regarding the experience I had with Laptop MD and wanted me to give them a second chance. I re-addressed the problem and he told me that it could be a virus and to bring it in so that the technicians can run a virus scan for me. Since I am a very busy person, I can't really find the time to do so. However, I noticed that there was a Virus Scan/Removal Program that was probably installed by the team onto my computer (AVG Anti-Virus) that I was not aware of. After running the scan, there were a number of spywares, malwares, and viruses found. After cleaning them out, my laptop was back to functioning like new. Mad props to Matt Ham to ensure I was taken care of. Now I can say that you guys really strive to take care of your customers which these days is kind of hard to find! Way to go~!

OMG!!! These are the guys to go to for all your iPhone repair needs!
I recently had a cracked screen on an iPhone (3G S) and at first, I went to the Apple Store. Huge mistake. I was basically told I could buy a new one (they even said this as if it was a solution they were offering me. No thanks!)
Then I heard about Laptop MD through a few friends (and a few ads I've seen around the city.) I am SO GLAD I DID! Not only was it MUCH cheaper than anything Apple was able to offer me, but they actually did it while I waited!!!!!!!! I dropped it off (with Nick who made me feel like I was the only customer in the world, and his top priority!), went around the corner to grab a coffee, and when I came back (maybe 30-40 minutes later) it was totally fixed and looked like new!
Seriously -- I have countless friends with cracked iPhone screens. You guys need to check out Laptop MD! They're the best for anything iPhone related! -

Like most people, I am totally connected to my phone. So when my iPhone 4 crashed. I didn't know what to do. I tried to charge the battery, restore to factory settings, even tried to jailbreak over the original jailbreak (hence why there's always warnings with jailbreaking).
For two days, it seemed like I tried everything. I knew that Apple probably wouldn't fix my device since it was jailbroken so I searched Google for iPhone repair locations in the city. I found LaptopMD. It was conveniently located down the street from my job but I was slightly skeptical since most people's reviews were related to water damage or cracked screens, yet I decided to give them a try anyway.
I took my dead iPhone 4 to Nick at LaptopMD, hoping that he could be the savior for my precious device. Lo and behold, 24 hours later, my iPhone is fixed and back to working like new. Nick and the LaptopMD crew really were a blessing and super affordable especially compared to dishing out over $600 for a new phone. Hopefully I won't have to go to them again, but they will definitely get my referral for electronic fixing needs. -

After months of having a cracked screen on my iPhone 3GS, I finally decided it was time to get it fixed. I've cracked the screen before and knew of a great place in Miami. But now, I'm NY and the businesses are just overwhelming. These guys were the first to pop up in Google. Figured to give them a shot.
Found the sign of their location on 35th ST, went right up to their office and was surprised at it's atmosphere. You can see employees working hard on other customers broken electronics, comfortable couches to wait on, and really professional courteous people. Nick came right up to me and asked what I needed. Gave me a quote and asked if I'd like to wait or just drop it off. decided to drop it off. Filled out their quick form on their computer (eco friendly and way faster than pen and paper), then left to do other things around the area. Came back 45 minutes later and it was beautiful! They also cleaned it up for me which was nice of them. Got a complimentary screen protector and a cloth too! Nick was extremely nice and helpful throughout everything.

It's always a bummer when your iPhone screen cracks. Hopefully you will never have to experience the pain. I'm a pretty calm, reserved person, but when my iPhone is falling down the stairs and I hear the cracks of the phone, moments of shock, rage, and then probably a couple of colorful languages exude out of my mouth. #@#!$@$@ indeed.
Forget taking the phone to the apple store; they won't help and even have the nerve to tell me to buy a new phone.
I've been looking around for places to fix the phones and didn't find much luck. Other places wanted to quote me $175 and to add insult to that, will take a few hours or even pick up the next day. I use my iphone for everything: alarm, schedules, email, contacts. To say the phone will take a day is ridiculous, it's madness I say. Such torture!
But, not at Laptop MD. Prices are reasonable I've found (and I did a lot of research). For $139 you get your phone fixed AND only takes about 30-40 minutes. Time is money and I think for the time it takes, it's good. The location is ideal too. I dropped off my phone and then walked around Korea Town for some dinner. Some spicy food and fro yo later, my phone was fixed!
Service was quick and friendly. In and out. It's agony enough that the iphone cracked. Laptop MD makes the agony less painful. Hopefully my iPhone won't break but in the unfortunate event it does, Laptop MD will be my savior.
I highly recommend this place. -

My computer wasn't functioning..and they fixed it!. 5 stars and end of story right? no. There's more.
The guys who work there are super helpful and nice and knowledgeable. I went in for one problem and turns out , I had a whole other underlying situation and they were able to figure it out and fix.
Their prices are beyond fair and turnaroud time is quick..usually around a day for laptop repairs.
Like I said before, I went in for one issue and then turns out it was another bigger issue that was causing the first issue, so I had to come back a few times to get my laptop back to 100%, so I'm sure because of that whole ordeal, I was pouty and looked like a less-than-pleased customer, but forgive me--its been a rough few days without my laptop! In the end, I was actually very happy with the results and the staff.
Now that as of today, my laptop is fixed, I should probably stop yelping and make those backed up
reports my boss has been waiting for.... -

I just left this place after having to get my cracked iPhone 3GS screen replaced. After mentioning Yelp (a special they have that's also being offered if you check-in on Foursquare) I received 10% off the $59 repair. Though, after tax, I spent nearly $60 anyway. Regardless, it's the best price that I've seen by far, and beats the hell out of Apple's reportedly $99-$200 (depending on who you talk to).
The wait time was short, about 15 minutes, and the transaction was smooth. I was in, out, and back on the train to Long Island in no time. Which reminds me of how conveniently located it is: Right down the street from Penn Station.
I can't speak much to their computer repairs, but if their iPhone repairs are any indication, then they probably won't disappoint.
I highly recommend them. -

My iPhone 3GS took a dunk in the the toilet and after a couple of days of drying it out and trying to figure out what worked and what didn't I took it here for a new LCD. They checked out the phone and gave me an estimate before doing anything to it and the price was reasonable - $70 for a new LCD.
Service was fine and they fixed it while I waited. I would recommend to anyone who needs a quick iPhone fix from an honest place. -

I was able to go in and get the screen on my iPhone replaced after it being shattered. They helped me right away and I was on my way in about 15mins. Also, much cheaper than the Apple store at $60 bucks!

My IBM ThinkPad T60 (2.5 years young) randomly blue screened and read "Unmountable Boot Volume". Wouldn't boot in Safe Mode, wouldn't boot in Normal Mode, and couldn't even test the drivers to see what was wrong. It made funny sounds too. The computer was fried and it wouldn't even get to the Windows Log-in screen.
My sister and I spent the majority of the commercials breaks during the "Snapped" marathon on WeTV trying to fix the problem, but to no avail. She works with software.. this was not her cup.
I took this sad laptop to LaptopMD, Ross quoted the price to recover my data, put a new hard drive in to replace the one that busted, and to reinstall my sweet sweet Windows XP (I really do like XP). I thought about it... then figured it was better than buying a new lappy for 1000+.
2 days later I got my computer for less than the price quoted (Thanks 10% discounts!!), it runs fast, all my files are recovered (even my Outlook emails), the hard drive is so monstrous I can fit way more data, and I feel alive again.
Anyway, I'd say if you have any computer issues similar to this, give LaptopMD a shot. All may not be lost. -

Be very careful about these guys
Their "free estimate" policy is a lie - When you ask them to put their estimate down in writing, they about-face and try to hit you with a $50 charge.
Also, They WAY overcharge.
Better to go with the many other very qualified computer repair shops just around the corner -

Straight talk. I love these guys. I've taken 2 iPhones in, one w/a cracked screen, the second w/water damage - both fixed w/in 48 hours, and at a cost that was way (WAY WAY) cheaper than getting another phone. The staff is incredibly friendly, welcoming, and just all around awesome.

Demolished my iPhone screen this morning, falling ever so gracefully up the stairs trying to make the C train... LOVELY! I began the freak-out process until I realized that there must be a business in this city that replaces shattered screens. Lucky for me, there is... Laptop MD! I brought my baby up there, and within 15 minutes, had a brand new screen on my 3GS. $75 is a steal compared to what it would have cost me to replace the phone. Thanks Laptop MD!

Great, quick, cheap - only the kind of thing you can get from a bunch of nerds in NYC. Went on my lunch break from work to get it fixed, 30 minutes from start to finish, $70 for a new iPhone screen (had cracked mine). Will go back if I crack my screen again.

I had a common Dell problem; the power jack wasn't taking the A/C power cord anymore. I dropped my broken laptop off on a Sunday afternoon and it was ready by the next day. Hours are great. The repair cost matched the initial quote, and the service was professional. Definitely recommend them!

Since I posted this review back in April, I have received several emails in which someone from LaptopMD tries to explain what happened according to them and also offers me money, which I imagine I would get if I erase this review. Well, I don't want your money, I'm not erasing my review because this was my experience and if you don't want people writing bad reviews about your business, take better care of your customers next time. You add insult to injury, this was NEVER about money, so keep it in your pocked or better yet, buy a better sofa for your customers. Whether the piece my old laptop is missing was taken intentionally or not, the point is that I took it there with nothing missing and it didn't come out the same way. Maybe you should be more careful when handling laptops.

My computer had several viruses and had blue screened. I was despondent. In this modern age, we all need our computers, am I right? Anyway, I did a google search and found LaptoMD and decided to take my computer to them, and I am very glad that I did. Nick was really great and helpful in getting my computer fixed in a timely and inexpensive manner. I would definitely recommend them and take my computer back there next time I have a problem.

I like this place they're very knowledgeable and there prices are fair. I have been here twice, when it was known as Man & Machine Inc., I believe they were good then and they are good now. I think they were bought over by LaptopMD+ or they just changed their name??? so now they are known as LaptopMD+. So far no problems with this company. I like the quick and rapid service. The last time I went there I dropped off my computer at 2pm and they called me at 6:30pm the same day to let me know that my Laptop was fixed and ready to pick-up!!!! WOW!!! that was fast they had it fixed in 41/2 hours. That's the fastest I have ever experienced. Two thumbs up here. Highly recommend!!! Can't just trust anyone. They also have a warranty for 30 days, so if you have any questions/problems they will work to resolve it quickly.

I don't usually find time to review any place but this review I have to publish. This MDlaptop place is a total FRAUD! Couple months ago, took my laptop - HP series to this place for a replacement of the backlight. 2 companies diagnosed that my backlight was shutting down as the light of the screen has been flickering for the last several months. I took my PC to this place because they offered a better deal after negotiation and they told me that the other PC repair company (that is almost accross the street from them, on the New Yorker hotel) would break another piece and ask for more money and eventually rip me off! So I trusted this guy with a russian accent... what a mistake! He himself called me 2 days later as I was planning to go there and pick up my PC with a replaced backlight... he tells me that the motherboard has given up and now it is all broken and a total cost of repair would be 400 bucks! I was sooo frustrated... I told the guy NOT to break it further and just stop what he is going. Next that I went to pick up my laptop, that guy was not there - or did not wanna show up. Some other repair guy told me that it was "a coincidence" that the motherboard got broken overnight in their hands while I had this PC for 2 years without a single problem that the backlight running out! It was such a comedic discussion with the repair guy, I told them directly that they are either FRAUD or such bad AMATEURS! NEVER and ever do business with these shady people!

Incredible service. The professionals at Laptop MD repaired my badly damaged iPhone screen in less than 15 minutes! Previously, I had attempted the repair and failed miserably. As an added bonus, the expert, since I had the parts, allowed me to use my digitizer in the repair to cut costs. I can't help but recommend these guys.
