All my experience with real estate agents had been pretty lousy and virtually all left a bad taste in my mouth so naturally when I came across Lang Realty through Craigslist, I certainly imagined they would be no different and while I always remained optimistic, I suppose I was a tad gun-shy. I first met Joe & then about 2 weeks later when I came across another flat on CL, unbeknownst to me, I wound up meeting with him again.
I was something of a pain, I knew what I wanted in a flat so I was being "particular" if you will, no, let's be honest ........ I was being a royal pain in the arse. But after Joe took me back to the office to meet the rest of the Lang family, despite my trepidations, I was honestly impressed. They asked me a number of questions to get a clear idea of just what I was looking for, they brainstormed back and forth for a while, although I was honestly ready to throw in the towel, and then Sam suggested an apartment he thought I would like. On the spot, at night, and despite the apartment not being hooked up with electricity yet, he took me to see it. He was funny and friendly the whole ride there! The apartment Sam showed me that night is now home, I love it, and I love Lang Realty! They don't come better than these guys, they are super accommodating, friendly and keen-witted.
I highly recommend Lang Realty!! A++++++
I hate to be the one to break the 5-star streak but 4 stars ins't too shabby...
First off, the good:
My broker was Dave and he was super cool and attentive as were his colleagues that I met. He followed up with me daily until I was fully moved in which I had never had a broker do before. He was easy going and we joked around which made it an easy process. You know how hard it is to find a great broker in this city. For that reason, they get an extra star giving them a whopping 4.
Now, the bad:
I know Lang is a Realty company and not the actual managers of the buildings they show but...
I completed all of the paper work and even paid the initial fee the exact same day but it was almost 2 weeks before I was able sign the lease and get the keys. To be a little more specific...
I got the keys on the afternoon of Monday the 31st (I was at Lang's office filling out everything on the 19th) which made for a disastrous move-in. I ended up not being able to move in until the evening of the 31st and finishing on the 1st (which was a Tuesday) so I had to miss work. Maybe they could have pushed the management a little harder so I could have started moving in a day before on Sunday instead. That would have changed everything. My move was beyond awful.
Maybe I wasn't aggressive enough, maybe they weren't. Either way I'll give them 4-stars because they were the best brokers I have dealt with in Brooklyn.
I had a great experience with Lang Realty, and no, I have no stake in the company and I'm not pals with anybody who works there! My broker was Dave, very cool guy and helpful and knowledgeable. I was specific about what I was looking for, and he was happy to show me places I might be interested in, talked about them beforehand. He never rushed me, was never aggressive or pushy like some brokers can be. On the contrary, he took his time with me, always followed up, answered my questions, and was genuinely interested in having me find a place I liked. I've worked with a bunch of brokers and firms before, and Lang totally takes the cake. They rule.
I found Lang Realty during my last minute apartment search on Craigslist. I had 2 weeks to find an apartment, sign a lease and move and they made it happen. I chose them specifically because they posted without Brokers fees and had a really informational website that had more listings than they posted on craigslist. I called Joe Brikman out of the blue on a Thursday to show me an apartment they had listed and when it wasn't exactly what I was looking for we sat down and brainstormed together for about 10 minutes before he thought of something he thought i would like and drove me to the next location. that apartment was exactly what I was looking for. it was a great price for its size and proximity to the park and subway. I took it on the spot and was also excited that while i was viewing the place the building was having people re-sand the floors and fix up the bathroom so i knew come move in it would be even better. After I decided to take the place and put down a deposit the people at Lang said the building manager wanted to meet me before allowing me to take the apartment and sign the lease. I knew I had limited time to do all of this and still hire a moving company. I was definitely a pain, calling relentlessly to set up an appointment for this and when the building manager and my schedule did not meet up Lang arranged for me to sign the lease in their office and pay them directly to ensure I had enough time to prepare for my move and I appreciated this more than they know. both times i was in their office it was warm and inviting and they all introduced themselves to me and were just a great bunch of people. if i decide to move again next year I wont even bother with craigslist, I will just call Lang. Anyone looking for a place in Brooklyn should just stop the search and call them.
I had a great experience with Lang Realty. I responded to a Craigslist posting by them, and was shown the apt within a few days - looked just as it was pictured. The broker showed up on time (yay!) and when I decided to apply for the apt, they did the credit check immediately in the office; I found out the next day about approval.
Everyone I dealt with was pleasant and I was amazed how painless and easy the process was. Bonus - only a one month's broker fee. Although the broker didn't really do that much, the whole apt-getting process was so easy, that I didn't mind paying it as much. Esp. when compared to the ordeal of Craigslist apt-hunting, the fee was TOTALLY WORTH IT.
Anyway, love the new place - thanks Lang!
Note: They strictly observe all the Jewish holidays, so ideally, plan your apt search around those dates.
Lang Realty was very helpful in my apartment search and very professional. I felt no pressure, and when it was time to apply, they made the process quick and painless! I truly appreciated the help from Joe and David at Lang Realty.
Joe at Lang Realty was so nice! We responded to a craigslist ad, met up with Joe and he showed us a few apartments. We loved them but they were the first ones we had seen so we didn't feel comfortable applying for them right then. After another day of looking at dirty, small overpriced places, we called Lang Realty back and asked if the apartment we wanted was still there. Luckily for us, it was, and within the next three days we were signing a lease on our spacious and affordable new place. They were really patient with us while we got our finances in order. I feel very lucky that we go to deal with Joe, he's really laid back. Highly recommended.
