This is  a great affordable date spot!  They have a pretty killer happy hour and check out the deal on Mondays! Cheap pizza and wine- SCORE!  The ambiance is super relaxed and cozy.  There is a nice outdoor patio to chill at on summer days!

Our server was really nice along with everyone else that was there.  We shared a couple small plates and a few signature cocktails!  We were feeling pretty good when we left!

Looking forward to summers on the patio!

Show me a place that has a killer happy hour and I'm there. I went on a Thursday night recently and it was packed when we walked in. When I say packed, I mean PACKED and thankfully not entirely with hipsters like I thought i would be.  It seemed as if everyone else in Denver had the same idea for happy hour drinks. Not that I can blame them, the hopes of discounted wine will lead me just about anywhere......

When we walked in the hostess told us it was going to be 35 minutes. So we went to the bar and grabbed a glass of wine and hung out. The hostess walked over to us and told us that it was going to be longer like 45 minutes and since we were being inconvenienced, she gave me this card for a free appetizer. Score!

So we kept our name on the list and stalked the tables in the bar area to see if any were leaving soon. The table closest to us had two girls who looked they were about to leave but then I think they noticed we were waiting for them and took a little longer. They finally left and we swooped on in. Our server came over and while I could have totally downed another glass of wine, I noticed they had half glasses and went with that.  They have appetizers, panini's, pizza and more but are known for their pizza so I felt compelled o order that. The pizza is totally legit. They feature wood fired with fresh ingredients that will pleas any person-vegetarian or carnivore! I got the Alcachofa and she got the Diavolo pizza. They are individual sized but more than enough for one person and just enough to take home for a cold breakfast the next morning!

I was visiting my best friend who just recently moved to Denver.  We were eating later than we planned and she told me how a lot of restaurants close by 9 o'clock in Denver...even on the weekends!  We were searching online for a place to go and found La La's to be open and very close by.

We headed on over and started off with a glass of wine each.  I had a delicious Riesling and then we each ordered a pizza and decided to share.  While we waited I noticed that some of the walls were covered in wine corks {see photo}.  It was a very nice atmosphere, except for the fact that it was so packed our table was squeezed in by the side door.  Waiters/waitresses had to keep opening the door to go outside and serve the tables out there.  It was a bit cold and I'm not sure why people were eating out there anyway...but I guess to each his own.

I would recommend this place for the nice atmosphere and tasty food.

We got there early for New Year's Eve.  We had no reservations, just sat in the bar area for cocktails and pizza.  It was Amazing watching the staff gear up for the fully booked evening ahead.  The manager runs a tight ship.  It was magical observing what looked like a well trained group, preparing for a Broadway Show.  I'll never forget it.

New York has nothing on the Denver restaurant scene.  Bravo Lala's!

Lala's has been redeemed!! I went last night with my sister after some post-Christmas shopping and we had the best time. We had a 7:30 reservation and were promptly seated and well-taken care of the entire night.

We each started with a glass of wine - her a cab sav and me the Kesseler Pinot Noir - it was fabulous. Peppery but soft - a very good pinot. After perusing the menu, we decided to start with a small Caesar salad - very garlic-y but extremely yummy - probably the best Caesar dressing I have ever had.

We each ordered off the special menu - my sister got the white pizza with garlic and chicken and I got the peppercorn crusted sirloin with steak fries. My steak was cooked perfectly and the fries with the hollandaise-esque sauce were killer. Sampled my sister's pizza and it didn't disappoint either. Passed on the dessert this time, but will have to give it a shot the next time I'm in. And I'll for sure be back.

It was a leisurely dinner with fabulous service - I'm so glad I gave Lala's another try. P.S. thanks to the staff who happily cleaned up my sister's wine as she spilled almost a full glass with her emphatic hand gestures! I can't take that girl anywhere...

A friend and I decided to meet up for a Sunday dinner, and she suggested we go to LaLa's. Having never been there, I looked up all of the reviews on Yelp and decided to give it a shot.

The seated us next to a 6-top table with 3 screaming children, which was rather annoying. Apparently, two other people turned down the table we were sat at for this reason, but I was too hungry to care. Luckily, the family didn't stay longer than 10 min and we could then enjoy our drinks and food.

I didn't look at the menu because I was told I HAD to do the Sunday supper, and I'm very glad I did.

We each paid $9.95 and basically had unlimited food. First plate was a very delicious Caesar Salad, follow by bruschetta. The main meal was a very thin crust pizza with various toppings (which was very tasty, and not too filling), and last but not least, a hot dish of spaghetti. When we were finished with all of our first plates, the waitress starting back at the beginning with another plate of salad. I hated not to eat more since it was unlimited, but had to draw the line somewhere.

I believe their happy hour on Sunday was until 7pm, in which drinks were half off. I was expecting to pay at least $7-$8 for my Vodka drink, and to my surprise, it was only $3.

Overall, the food was great, the atmosphere was a little loud but cozy, the happy hour specials are great, and I will be returning!

There are few places in Denver I discourage people to go to - this is one of them.

Popped in here for brunch a couple months ago, and can't believe how awful the entire experience was.  Server was aloof, rude, and non attentive.  Food took  35+ minutes, even though we were one of 4 tables there.  Several sides of our meal were forgotten.  Food was ok overall.  Plates were cleared, and we were sitting there for another 15 minutes for the check.  Finally, one of us had to get up, ask for it, put the credit card it, and return it to the bar.  Icing on the cake? The server didn't even bring the card back - we had it up and sign the check at the bar on the way out.

I have worked in the food industry as a server for years - apparently the staff at Lala's is unaware that their income is mostly tip-generated.

    AVOID!

This is just down the street for me which is probably the main reason it easily gets 4 stars.

Still, there are a few places within easy walking distance of me too that I wouldn't give four stars to. So Why do I keep coming back? Well the food is pretty good. The pizzas are very tasty and I find myself constantly craving their stromboli. The pizza is thin crust which really isn't my thing, but they do their best to make me forget that. Also their weekday lunch deals are downright awesome. If you want to try it out and see if its for you then this would be the time to give them a try.

Happy hour deals are pretty decent here. $3 wells and Peronis, which might not be the cheapest drinks in town, but the place isn't really a place you'd expect to be pounding dollar beers at either. Speaking of that, yeah the place is classy. I mean there are no pinkies in the air here, but it does convey a sense of classic femininity without letting it get out of control.

All the servers have always been very friendly and service is pretty quick. I did get quoted a outrageous wait time on a Friday night. My fault it was a Friday, so you know what? I just ordered it for delivery and was eating my food even before I would have been seated.

My best recommendation for this place would be that you take a good looking friend here for a casual lunch and see if you can use it to work your way up to a fancy dinner with your special someone.

I LOVE LA LA'S! The limoncello martinis are killer, as another reviewer pointed out, and if you go on Wednesday night they have awesome Ladies' Night Specials. They have (taken from their website): 2.95 Cosmos, Limoncello-tinis, Spring-tinis and $3.95 Glasses of Pinot Noir and Pinot Grigio... It's kind of a no-brainer.

Their regular happy hour is awesome too, and they have DELICIOUS mimosas & bloody marys on Saturday & Sunday for brunch. They also do cheap wine flights and have an incredible selection of wine which seems to be different every time I'm there (and given that I live across the street, I am there quite a bit...)

The food is also DELICIOUS and the pizza reminds me of my time spent in Italy - delicious thin crust and a yummy blend of ingredients on each one. My favorite option there is the Pollo Salad - delicious!

Love the ambiance at this place, great lighting, decent noise level and the crowd was great, busy but relatively friendly.

The staff was a bit snooty, which I don't understand.

The happy hour specials are great, $5 glasses of wine (for the most part) and I love that they also sell 1/2 glasses of wine---as I often don't want a full 2nd glass when I have to drive home.

The pizza I had was great, it was an arugula, sausage and balsamic vinagrette pizza and I can't wait to go back and try other things.

Our waitress was a bit snooty too (like the host staff)  I don't understand the attitude?!  Why? we are there for a glass or two of wine and food, that's it!

Great thin crust pizza, good wine, good ambiance.

We ate outside on the patio in October, Lala's has great outdoor heaters and good ambiance. People had their dogs outside on the patio, and waiters were friendly. With four people, we split a salad, 2 pizzas, and a bottle of wine  - reasonable dinner for four, enjoyable experience.

This is my go to place when friends want to get together. They have two happy hours a night (including weekends) which both feature half off wine. The kitchen is open late and their Sunday supper is awesome. All you can eat pizza, bruschetta, caesar and spagetti for $10...and you don't have to feel like you're at an all you can eat place. It's a perfect amount of nice, friendly, classy, and still approachable.

Great for girls night, date night, or take-the-parents-out-to-a-dinner-I-can-afford-with out-taking-them-some-place-crappy.

Lala's is hit or miss ...

Hits:  The entree salads were outstanding.  Loved the sweet potato hash and toasted hazelnuts.  The ganache for dessert was excellent, too ... perfect portion for two to share.

Foul tip: The palenta crab cakes smelled more like crab than they tasted like crab ... that can't  be good, can it?  The sauce was too thin so the flavors didn't really transfer well.  But the texture was really interesting and I loved the crispiness.

Miss: The olive oil cake was unpalatable. Not only was it pretty flavorless, the texture was dry and spongy. And for the love of god COOL IT WITH THE MINT!  The "drizzle" was so overpowering it was all we could taste.  It destroyed the lemon sorbet, too. And what's with the frozen strawberries?  You know better than that!  I was just at safeway this morning and trust me, fresh strawberries are out there even though it is fall.  Too bad this was the last thing we ordered, because this is the memory that we're taking home with us.

Good atmosphere in a good location...right across from Governor's Park (no, not the bar...though that is right around the corner). We've been here for drinks multiple times, and they usually have a happy hour special on Peroni, which makes me smile. We werent that impressed with their cheese plate, just because its a bit pricey, but the marscapone-arugula pesto dip with warm flat bread was amazing. I caught myself licking the bowl!

Make sure you make it here early during a Friday happy hour, or else you might have to wait. Very nice place.

I really enjoyed my wine at Lala's last night. Being near my apartment, I've wanted to try it out for awhile. The atmosphere is great and it is a great place to get dressed up for. I also liked that they were playing great music including David Bowie and Arcade Fire. I went for after dinner drinks, so I didn't get a chance to try the food, but I do plan a return visit very soon.

Also, they have a regular happy hour AND a late night happy hour.

The lamb pancetta, asparagus, arugula, manchego cheese & yellow tomato pizza was stellar. Full gluten free menu. Gluten-free pizza crust is decent. Incredible meatballs. The caprese was uninspired. $5 during Happy Hour for a nice Super Tuscan...enjoyable. LOVE that you can order 1/2 glasses of wine. Free pizza dough for the kids to mold and then bake if they wish - very cool. Service a bit slow and lacks polish. Bar slow, too. Overall, I'll go back but they do need to step up service in order to remain competitive. There are too many choices in this part of town if not.

I love this place--it's a good neighborhood staple that we visit often. AMAZING happy hour wine selection and really yummy pizza. The four stars are for the happy hour and variety of pizza. What I'm not including in the rating is the brunch or service, which would each merit two stars. Service can be VERY slow and I think probably 75% of the time I sit at my table for 10 minutes without anyone even pouring water or taking a drink order. On the plus, the servers are always friendly and helpful if you want to try a new wine. Something about this place makes me not care too much that the service is bad...probably all the wine I drink when I'm there!

Good thin crust pizza.  We had three different ones and all were good. The Sangria was made with white wine and fruit.  It was refreshing but kinda skimpy.

They have a round table that seats 8 and maybe 10.  Not many restaurants have large round tables. Service is very good and I love the decor.  There is a smoking patio in the back and a front patio for eating. Just across the street from the Governors Mansion.

Lala Lovely! I met some girlfriends out for dinner and made the cusp of happy hour. They had wonderful deals on wine. The waitress was sure to do a final check to see if we wanted another round of wine before the close of happy hour.

We enjoyed our evening out on the patio with perfect weather. I had a house salad, a chilled mango mint soup, and a pear and arugula pizza. The caesar salad was the surprise winner of the night. We capped off our meal with the chocolate giovanni. It is a MUST! I crave it any time I think of it. Mmmm.

This joins the list of places that I have waited too long to review - Shame on me!

I Love Lala's. It's perfect spot for HH or spending time people watching. Don't plan on wanting to have a conversation though - too damn loud!!

Lala's was discovered out of sheer necessity - Last Summer, Chris was on a personal project that took him to the Metaphysical Society once a week, and I need to a place to relax for 3-4 hrs.

I drove past Lala's and the patio was so inviting! It looked like a winner. I was eager to spend time here reading, imbibing, nibbling - sigh! Bliss.

Over the course of the next few weeks, I would call and make a reservation, show up, get a table, and enjoy the nibbles and drinks.

Their first HH is from 3pm - 7pm, and then they also have a late night HH from 10pm till midnight. Perfection!!

I have enjoyed the casual, yet attentive service, the buzz of the place, and the menus. Not always a winner, but let's say 80% of the time, I have enjoyed what I have had here.

Flat Breads with Artichoke and oil-cured olive tapenade, Mascarpone-arugula pesto, Dill infused chick pea hummus. My personal favourite is the Mascarpone & Arugula - spicy, sweet, creamy!

The Lamb and the Risotto Meatballs are good. And filling.

My favourite pizzas have been the Classic Margherita and Diavolo.

The desserts have been delicious, especially when served with their espresso or a French Cafetière - good enough for two.
Favourites have been Flight of Chambord - little pots of crème brûlée, panna-cotta and pot de crème. Oh My Hips!!

I am hoping to re-visit this little favourite soon.

    Gluten free goodness in Lala's-land!

We dined here at around 10pm on a Saturday night and were seated quickly. Our party of three shared 3 of their unique flat bread pizzas & enjoyed every savory bite.  So much so, in fact, that we ordered their dessert pizza with apples and brie to sweeten the dinner deal.

Yummy in my tummy - we finished our bottle of wine and were on our way.

Visited Lala's on the 4th of July at 10pm for a late dinner after hiking.

It's a great location across from Governors Park with 6 tables on the patio and lots of nice upper end seating inside.

We both liked it and felt that it was worth a return trip on Sunday afternoon for their spaghetti special.

    Pro's
    High quality food
    Reasonable prices
    Prompt service
    Restaurant atmosphere is great
Food selection was varied enough to offer great selections if you are not a pizza lover.
Wine selection was varied and priced very reasonably.
The late happy hour had good drink offerings.

    Con's
    Small portions
Patio seating was a bit cramped. They could take one table out and save us all from overhearing our neighboring tables conversation.
The happy hour menu could benefit from some food offerings.

I've been eating at Lala's for over a year now and it's always been really good, especially with their Sunday supper deal, which for $9 gets you all-you-can-eat bruschetta, Caesar salad, pizza and spagetti.  I would be surprised if you could plow through all four courses and want more, but it's there if you want it.
I especially like their pizzas, which are ultra-thin.  Think of two pieces of paper that taste like delicious pizza.  That thin.
Also of note are the awesome appetizers, namely the Roman artichokes, battered and fried with a delicious drizzle, and the arugula mascarpone flatbread, which is a must-try.
Service is generally great and friendly, and the restaurant is kid-friendly, but if they're slammed you can get lost in the shuffle.
They also have two happy hours every night and apparently just started serving brunch.  I snuck a peek at the brunch menu and it looks amazing.  I'll be back soon to try it.

    High recommended!

$5 happy hour glasses of wine (with a lot of choices) are why I always end up coming back here. That, and being able to feel fancy with my girlfriends without spending $40+ (although non happy hour you could easily run over that with wine.) The place is pretty, has a trendy ambience, and the food is very tasty, even though it is pretty salty. But it is pretty loud, and I have always had to wait for a table. Plus, the hostesses and waitresses? Really? Like other reviewers have said, they are slow and snooty. Our waitress last night filled up our water glass only once, which sucked because the food is pretty salty. And when we did see her she glared at us like, WHEN are you leaving??? I was seriously tempted to say YES we ARE still here, get over it!!!! Even though my meal and wine were a good deal I felt kind of ripped off for the service I got. This has been a typical experience every time I go. I'm going to start looking elsewhere.

Went a few weeks ago for dinner, my husband and I were told they would seat us in just a few minutes. Fast forward to 20 minutes later, when we asked how much longer it would be, were given an estimated wait time of 45 more minutes. We left, I was too irritated to wait more that evening. We gave them another chance this past weekend, were told a 45 minute wait time which we were fine with since we were given an actual wait time this visit. We managed to grab a couple of glasses of wine at the bar, and later were able to find seats there as well. I'm really glad we did, because roughly an hour and a half later the hostess asks us if we would like a table, after we already had placed a food order at the bar. They ran out of two out of the three specials they had that night, and I found a long scraggly hair in the Flight of Chambord dessert.

So I have heard about this place from a few people who live closer to downtown and decided to try It. We went in for labor day brunch and to my surprise it was busy but that didn't seem to phase the wait staff.
I am a huge wine person and do know my wines so I like to test restaurants when I try them first.  Alissa was our server  and I played dumb with her  as far as ordering wine. Her suggestions were spot on and the wine she suggested was awesome, by the way there were four of us there and she got each one perfect.
We ordered the mascarpone pesto to start which was delicious and a couple Caesar salads (which needed more dressing or the dressing needed more flavor). Just opted for a few pizzas to share amongst us. We ordered the app and salads first and our waitress said she would give us a bit more time to decide on pizza. When a restaurant is that busy I usually like to get my whole order in so that we are not left in the shuffle.....but our waitress was super attentive and amidst the craze she was entertaining too.
All in all the food was pretty good ( that's why i gave it a 4 not a 5 star rating). I would go back and eat but was really impressed by the 5 star service  and wine! I actually have to go back and figure out if I can find the wine I was drinking.

Came here on a Friday night. Parking was a bitch. My friend got there early to put our name down for a table and we ended up waiting about an hour from 6:15-7:15. That was expected since we didn't make reservations.

The weird thing was after 45 minutes of waiting, the hostess was trying to seat our party of four at a table for 6 with another party of two. It wasn't a big table, just a 6 top. Was she trying to force us to make new friends? It just seems awkward to make an impromptu "community table". We opted to wait for another table to open up-- and we watched as a four top sat open and ready to go for another 15 minutes before they decided to seat us that particular table. So the wait was annoying, since it could have been cut down by at least 15 minutes.

The wine was good. The pizzas were okay. The gluten free menu for my friend was phenomenal (they make everything on the regular menu gluten free). There isn't much variety if that's what you're looking for. Salads, sandwiches, and pizza. If you don't like those things, don't come here. The atmosphere was nice and our server was friendly and attentive.

I got the banana bread pudding for dessert which was good until I hit the "caramel" sauce. They apparently have no idea that caramel is not supposed to have crunchy crystals of sugar in it. The texture of the undercooked, unmelted caramel turned me off so much that I couldn't eat more than the few bites without sauce on it.

1 bottle of the cheapest wine
2 glasses of the cheapest wine
    3 pizzas
    1 sandwich
    2 desserts

= approximately $20 per person before tip.

The prices aren't outrageous, but neither is the food.

My husband and I went here last night for our date night.  We called ahead and put our name on a list just in case there was a long wait when we got there.  Arrived at 8 and were seated by 8:15 on the patio.  My husband had the fried artichokes and we shared the meat and cheese plate.  Great wine menu and the waitress was knowledgeable about the wines.  She brought me out a couple tasters so I could find something I liked.  The meat and cheese plate was excellent!  I just ate that for dinner.  My husband ended up ordering the steak, which he also enjoyed.
Overall a good place.  Staff was friendly.  Nice for a summer evening out.  The only bad, service was extremely slow.  EXTREMELY.  Sometimes we waited for our drinks for at least 15 minutes or more.  My husband waited for his entree for at least half an hour.  Great food and wine, but lacking on the wait for service.

LOVE their happy hour: 3-7 & 10-12.  Most wine are $5/glass and if they are over $5 then it's half.

The beet and butternut squash salads are delicious. I would also suggest the housemade burrata.. can't go wrong with that plus the grape tomato basalmic jam is soooo tasty! The alcachofa pizza is my favorite one that I've eaten so far, but I've tried several of the others.

Try the bread pudding for dessert... rich and yummy!

Wine: try the Viña Zaco Tempranillo, the Nandu Malbec or the Infinite Monkey Theorem Malbec (a local CO vineyard!).  All were great!

    GO ON A SUNDAY!!!

I arrived at Lala's not knowing what to expect from the mixed Yelp reviews. I was with a party of 8, but we ended up ordering while half the group was still parking. The Sunday Special was irresistible.

Unlimited ceasar salad, bruchetta, pizza, and meatball pasta for under $10 per person. When it comes to Italian, I am always torn between salad, pizza, and pasta, so this was basically my dream come true.

We refilled our giant salad bowl three times, had two platters of bruchetta, four pizzas and one humungous pasta dish. The meatballs were some of the best I've ever had.

My friend also ordered one of the fizzy wines. I can't remember the name but I know it was pink. I'm not the biggest wine fanatic, but this stuff was good!

If you're going to go to Lala's, go on a Sunday. And make sure to call ahead! The wait for people without reservations was insane.

I was brought here last Sunday for a friend's going away party. We had the Sunday night supper special which consisted of 4 courses. Bruscetta, Caesar Salad, Pizza and Pasta.

First off, the service was really good, however, a little disassociated. Meaning, they were accomodating and friendly, but a little bit robotic and lacked a little bit of personality. They were very accomodating to our party though. Plus, there are a lot of really beautiful women that work there....just sayin'.

The food was absolutley average. I enjoyed the bruscetta, and the salad was pretty good, but the pizza was really bland. The pasta was...pasta. Can't really screw that up. We ordered a meatball with our pasta. It wasn't worth the $2. But hey, the overall meal was only like $10. It's a screamin' deal and I will be back. (I'm just gonna smuggle in a bottle of Cholula for the pizza!)

I really enjoy going to Lala's. It's a fun atmosphere with nice wines and yummy food: creative pizzas with real thin crust, tasty apps and decadent desserts. As others have said, it's very noisy in there when crowded.

A total city spot. Met a girlfriend here to catch up over wine - such a good choice...
Love the trendy atmosphere, love the happy hour - the food could be better, but after a couple of glasses of wine, that doesn't matter too much.

I'm excited to enjoy wine on the patio when it warms up!

Are You Kidding me?  This place just sucks.  The food is mediocre at BEST.  I'm not speaking from one experience, it's in my neighborhood so I've tried it a couple times now over the last couple of years and never once has the food been anything to speak of.
On my last attempt at trying this place and hoping it could actually be a worthwhile local restaurant, the service was absolutely TERRIBLE!  The waitress was rude and slow.  It took her almost 20 min. to bring us drinks and the restaurant was almost completely empty.  The bar tender was not busy, they just did not care and took forever!  By the time she did bring drinks their evening happy hour started.  The waitress did not even mention this?  Other restaurants with decent service always have servers that give their guests a little heads up on specials.  She obviously did not tell us in order to get more money out of us instead of making sure we had a good experience.
Then when she brought out the salad, it had no dressing and when I complained she gave me attitude about not being a big deal she'll just grab some dressing.  No apology for bringing out a bland tasteless salad?  Is that how you want to present your food?  Then when she does bring dressing it's basically just a bowl of vinegar.
To continue with the bad service, the food delivery person gave all kinds of attitude when she tried to hand food to the wrong people.  Oh, I'm sorry for letting you know you were placing the food wrong on the table.  I guess I was expected to just let her set it down and move the food around after she left.  How rude of me to expect her to be ok with making sure the food people ordered ended up with them.
Then well after everyone's food came out, when guest in group was still waiting for her salad.  A non-cooked item delivered 5-10 min after the rest of the group?
    ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

This place pretends to be something it's not, worth while of anyone's time.  I can NOT stand bad service from people with attitudes.  I've tried this place for the last time.

This is one of those places that I REALLY REALLY wanted to love.  It's located in a great area in Capitol Hill, right next to Gov Park.  It has a great 'vibe' and nice patio for those perfect evenings.  So on to why I dinged the 4-star joint.

-First - we asked for an outdoor seat and were told that it would take 20 or so minutes - No problem. We sat at the bar and after the agreed upon 20 minutes were taken to an indoor table (apparently we were not 'clear' that we wanted an outdoor table) - again No big deal as they fixed it relatively quickly (though we lost our bar seats and had a very pregnant woman with us ;)
-On Sunday nights, they have a great deal - four course, all you can eat, Italian feast with Bruschetta, Casesar salad, Pizza, and spaghetti with meatballs for only $10!  Well it sounded great.  The bruschetta was average at best, the Caesar was decent, and the Pizza was the star.  So what was wrong you asked?  It took literally 15-20 looonnnngggg minutes between each course!  We would literally ask for the next course before the prior even arrived and it still took forever. You would think they would be cranking these things out on Sunday night with this deal. I guess this is how they prevent you from really eating 'all-you-can-eat!'

So overall, the service was awfully slow (I will say that the server was really nice though), the food was decent (stick with the pizza), and the wine list is not too bad either.

I may give it a second shot, but probably after I check out the other restaurants in this great area of town.

My friend and I got there around 6:30 PM and there was a wait, but the hostess recommended we sit at the bar since it is also full service. A very good call, as it was in the middle of dinner rush.

We ordered scallop soup and their pizza of the day. I've never had to salt soup in my life. The soup was bland. The bartender was nice enough to pull my friend's soup off the ticket. In spite of the blandness, I continued to eat because I was hungry. Both of us figured the pizza would make up for it, as this place is a pizza joint.

Wrong! Wrong! Wrong! The special pizza had caramelized onions and a sprinkling of cheese over extra virgin olive oil and garlic. First, I could detect not even the slightest hint of garlic. The caramelized onions seemed a clean blend of undercooked and burned, so basically we had thin crust (which actually was tasty) cheesebread dripping in plain olive oil. Great for an appetizer at an italian restaurant maybe, but as a main course at a place that claims to specialize in pizzas, it was sorely lacking.

The service was fantastic. The bartender was prompt in her attention to our drinks and food. The food, however, really put a damper on the evening.

My wine club hit Lala's for our March outing, and it was fantastic!  Let me start by praising Brian, the manager who made our reservation.  He was welcoming and accommodating in every way.  When we arrived at 6:30 on a Wednesday, the place was hopping!  It was Happy Hour, Ladies Night, and also happened to be Restaurant Week.  Despite all this, the staff was ready for us.  Brian had reserved a cluster of tables for us in one section of the restaurant, which we ended up pushing together, and it was perfect.  Our server, Nicole, was wonderful!  She handled our party of 17 with ease, and even prepared separate checks, which was much appreciated.

    Things I love about Lala's:
    - a great wine selection
    - the happy hour specials
    - the atmosphere
    - affordable food & wine prices
    - their flatbread pizzas, especially the one with cured meats & arugala!

If you haven't been here, you must check it out.  We will be back!
