This place is awesome
Chicken sammys are always good
and prompt delivery
LaLa's... I found this place a couple of years back and it has never let me down except once and it was my own fault [see warning at end of post]. The steak with champinones and the steak with ajo are amazing.
The parsley (I think that's what it is?) oil with bread that you get first is delicious. My boyfriend and I always practically drink it out of its cute little dish!
Sides- The salad is always good and the mashed potatoes are TO DIE FOR! The menu says you can only get 1 side but I always ask for halfers of mashed potatoes and salad and it's usually no problem. [except for that one weird time where the waiter said he wasn't supposed to but he would anyway, what a douche and no I've been here enough to know you are not giving me special treatment)
WARNING: DO NOT get the chorizo-rice plate. I was not very hungry when we went for family dinner last time so I thought this would be good. It was soo ugly! And it tasted disgusting. Brown mush with flecks of feta. yuuuuck

First off, despite my hatred for the Argentinian soccer team I agreed to eat here with my girlfriend. Just kidding... kind of. We showed up for a birthday dinner for a friend of hers.
To be honest, by the end of the night I was actually glad I came along. I had a good time and some good food. I ordered the Entrana al Ajo which was a a big freaking skirt steak covered in garlic and a side of garlic mashed potatoes. I love garlic so I was peeing myself on sight of such gloriously stinky food. Perhaps others around me were not. To hell with them.
After I spoke about my dislike for all the pulp-like fruit floaties in the sangria (same way I prefer to drink my OJ, not eat it), I drank two pitchers of it. Personal preference is one thing, but passing up alcohol because of it is just... stupid.
The service was decent but only because my girlfriend and her friends knew one of our servers. Homie hooked it up, but several times we asked the other servers for more bread or to-go boxes, never saw them again. Pretty annoying.
The overall ambiance is pretty nice. Restroom was kind of shady. Hold it if you can. Trendy hipsterish LA crowd, a little too much for me, but I suppose it's expected. I did find myself whipping out my iphone a time or two for no reason at all, as well as a nagging urge to purchase a v-neck shirt. Hmm, strange.
Maradona and the "Hand of God" '86 World Cup incident aside, I recommend this place.
I think I should buy stock in LaLa's because I have been here like 4 times in the week I've been in town. Guess that's the sign of a good place.
On a food note, finally tried the Suprema Napolitano dish and it was yummy. Actually just snacked on the leftovers and they were still super tasty. Last night, while having meetings, we tried the Provoleta and the red Sangria. Both were tasty and it is really hard to go wrong with an iron skillet full of sizzling cheese!
As for the people working here, everyone is really nice and helpful and after leaving my car here last night, because I was being a responsible drunk (hehe), they didn't give me a hard time and handed me my keys with a smile this am.
Yeah, Lala's is good stuff.

Went to Lala's for a birthday(ish) dinner.
Ordered:
Chicken Empanada
Steak Entrana
Sangria
B on the Sangria. I'm not super big on Sangria anyway, but this was a bit too strong for me. I wanted it to be a tad sweeter. That's just me, though. You Sangria lovers would have probably gotten your wine's worth.
A+ on the Empanada. Flaky crust and the filling of chicken and onions was hot and flavorful. Of course it was the most deep-friend thing ever (the napkin was transparent after I picked up the empanada!), but delicious!
A+ on the Steak entrana. For an entree that simply consists of slab o' meat and rice, they coudln't have done it better. The rice was well-seasoned and cooked just right, "al dente" for rice. The steak was grilled perfectly, as I ordered it - medium rare. The tenderness and juiciness was all there, and it was an excellent cut, overall. All for the low, low price of $14.
I have absolutely no complaints and will mosdef be back.
Meat and potatoes.
Meat and potatoes.
Meat and potatoes.
Crepes...yeah!
I really can't write a good review. It's going to make me hungry again! You just have to go here! Right now! I'm serious!
Really good sangria? Yes.
Awesome steak with mushroom gravy and garlic mashed potatoes? Heck yes!
Is the fish good too? Hella bomb!
First timers will get caught up in the bread and herb dipping oil. Yummy in my tummy.
It was my vacation, so we also had the banana crepe with caramel sauce. Gluttony at it's finest.
I forgot to mention that the servers are awesome. Drinks were always replenished, utensils and plates changed, and you don't even notice. Added bonus: our server directed us to the local bar scene where we stumbled upon The Village Idiot (awesome name!) and The Foundry.
On one of my visits back to L.A., a wayward friend of a friend took us to this incredible spot. I love you, Lala's!
I had the skirt steak with the chimichurri sauce generously smeared on top of it and the mashed potatoes. It was the one of the best meals I've enjoyed. I haven't been able to find another place that does it like Lala's. The chimichurri was fresh and full of flavor. The garlic, citrus and herbs went so well with the juicy steak. Do they still serve it? I didn't see it on the menu online.
Then, the dessert was just as good. I had the crepes with banana and Dulce de leche. Drop dead delicious.
We sat out on the patio which made it a great experience.
Lala's is one of LA's few "bang for your buck" restaurants. It's a meat and poultry lover's paradise. Where else in LA are you going to find a filet mignon dinner with all the trimmings for less than $30? I have never been disappointed with the food at LaLa's and always leave with a full tummy and a big smile.
You hungry? Un Plato Mixto, por favor!
Warning! Service is not their forte, so don't expect much on that end.
This is a great late lunch/dinner spot if you're looking for a relaxed atmosphere, great Argentinian steak with fresh salsa and amazing mashed potatoes. The portions are medium to large, so I would skip on the appetizers, plus they give you really tasty bread with olive oil as a starter. Their sangria is OK, nothing memorable. Overall, one of the cheapest places to get a good skirt steak (the sauteed mushroom and caramelized onion used to be my favorite when I still ate red meat).
Plus, how could you NOT want to eat next to Andy Millonakis?
P.S. parking sucks, watch out for the "no parking past 8 pm."

OMG good food.
Driving by at 8:30 on a Tuesday and seeing the patio I thought, oh no, we are going to have to wait forever! But we didn't, the patio is deceiving. No one was sitting inside and a quarter the patio was empty. My 3 friends and I decided to sit out there and it was SUPER loud. I could hear everything the couple next to me was saying, well it was mostly the girl boring the sh*t out of her date, but whatever.
The waiter took a while to take our order, but I didn't mind since the bread and chimichurri kept coming. I loved it so much I ate a little with just my fork! Love the bread too. We were going to order empanadas, but forgot. I'm glad we did because the portions here are giant! I couldn't believe you get such a large plate of food for the price. I got the Melrose salad and a side of mashed potatoes. I just had to try them after reading the reviews and they are super scrumptious. The salad was okay. It was supposed to have spicy honey mustard on it, but I didn't taste mustard AT all. One of my other friends got the Milenesa, it didn't taste like what I expected from the description, but it was still super tender and good. The crust on the outside was less crispy and more slimy. My other friend got the Chicken Al Champignon. I LOVED this. Skinless chicken breast with mushrooms and some kind of sauce on top. YUM. And lastly my other friend got the Suprema Napolitana. This was just spectacular! I want to eat it every second. The flavors were so amazing together. I'd probably order a side of the sauce too, there wasn't enough really.
The sangria is also pretty good. There aren't chunks of fruit in it though if you like that.
I cannot wait to go back. I've already told all my friends about it this wonderful taste.

Ever wanted to go to Argentina? How about Melrose in Hollywood? Everyone I have taken to this place got elated once they saw how hot the staff is... or maybe how good the experience was. Either way, the food is great though the staff could check in a little more. Make sure you have some argentinean beers.

I was shopping nearby at JapanLA and asked Jaime where a good place to go for dinner would be and she said "You must got o Lala's!" And boy was I impressed!!
It's definitely the place to go with a bunch of friends and enjoy a pitcher of Sangria and dining fairly close to other parties - that's how they do it in Argentenia. The staff I think was family operated and very attentative since it was our first time and made great suggestions. I ordered the garlic skirt steak and boy what a steal for what you get. As we waited for our food there was some warm bread with a garlic herbed olive oil for dipping (chimichurri?)- be careful its easy to get carried away and eat too much bread before your entree gets there.
The steak was perfectly cooked and garlicky just the way I like it...mmm I can taste it now...

The outdoor seating here is fantastic. I was walking around Melrose with a group of friends from out of town searching for a place to drink/ grub and we were lucky enough to come across Lala's. They were able to seat all 8 of us right away and kept the beers coming. Good selection of imported South American beers, including Crystal which brought me back to the good ol' days of traveling through Peru. Truth be told, we only had an appetizer or two, but the empanadas were great (from what I remember) and the aroma in the air was delicious. I will most definitely be coming back here soon (and maybe get an actual meal this time too!).

i really liked this place! i wouldn't say it was anything special but it was a cool place to just chill out and eat...food was filling and the price was really good!! the staff was very friendly! our waitress recommended that i do not get the rice since it's cooked in chicken broth and i am a vegan and all :)
if you wanna try authentic argetinian food go to carlitos gardel, which is on melrose too. it's a little more expensive but its way~~~~~~ better!!
A pitcher of Sangria after a shopping day on Melrose is the perfect end to the day!! As I fork over the rest of my shopping money, Lala's provides me with this great wine punch that turns my face red and makes me gleeful!
The ambiance here is great! I love to eat on the patio and watch the people walk by, since its a a bit more on the end of Melrose, not too many people walk by, but its quite fun to enjoy the LA sun while sipping on some of that yummy alcoholic red punch with some fruit!
I'm usually make it a point to eat and drink here when I'm on Melrose.. The salads here are great! and they're quite huge portions. The vegetarian options here are great!! My friends say their chorizo sandwich is one of the best they've ever had, but I'm not too big on meat, so I can't really say anything about that. The arroz del campo is one of my favorites that is so hard to resist.
The sangria is one of the best i've ever had here!! A pitcher is decently priced and you and your friends can definately share some good eats and good times here! (How cheesy was that line?) But hey.. its quite true, or could be at least....so what are you waiting for? Go on and create those memories with Lala!

Oh, I know. A fight between Luis Guzman and some random dude. OH WAIT, LALA'S GOT THAT TOO!
Luis Guzman?
This guy http://www.imdb.com/na...
Yeaaaaa. Drunken fist fights are always fun.
Actually I was trying to remember his name just now and I asked Xamot, "Hey what's the name of that ugly dude from Boogie Nights?" And he goes, "Look it up." So I open Google and type in "ugly guy from boogie nights" and there it was.
Anyways. Go here, its fun.

It's the perfect time to hit this joint, sit on the patio, and soak in the atmosphere.
Plus, I completely agree with Douglas C.: "Damn Fine Eats!" Yummm-ooooo! And, very affordable.
I recommend the red sangria (they have white as well, but I don't like it as much).
The Entrana Steak is probably my favorite. Tender, covered in marinade, a yummy side salad. Or, I also like the fish kabob. It's perfectly cooked, a mild white fish, and I like to add that yummy parsley garlic spread.
For dessert I suggest the banana caramel crepe or the flan.
This is a great place for a date (and I have had a few nice ones here), a small group, or a larger group. I just recommend reservations if you are going on a Friday night or Saturday night.
In fact, I wouldn't say this about most places, but if you are new to LA, want to check it out, but don't want to go alone, and would like to go with some friendly company, just send me a message. I jump at the chance to go here.
My LA friends took us here after shopping on Melrose and I asked what was good. They said if it sounds good it's good. So, we all ordered different dishes and everyone was 110% satisfied with their food. The bread and dipping oil was so dam good. I think it had some garlic, fresh herbs, and dried chili flakes. I couldn't stop eating it because I was trying to figure out what herbs they used. This dipping/sauce/olive oil (whutever you want to call it) went well on the meat dishes. I had the flank steak which was really tasty and tender. My hubby had what sounded like a chicken fried steak but 100 times better than a chicken fried steak. We had 2 decanters of sangria. It was yummy and hit the spot on a nice hot day.
DAMN FINE EATS! First of all, it's ard to me NOT to love any meat product, but whether it's slicing into Lala's Entrana steak (so delicately marinated), or devouring their Suprema Napolitana chicken cutlets (smothered in melted cheese) - then even with my lactose intolerance I'm as close to extasy as mere food allows.
I also suggest sampling their empanadas - tasty pockets of beef, chicken or spinach... I'm looking forward to going back ;)
Went here last Saturday night. Great atmosphere, lively people, great vibe! The food was really good and totally cheap. The tables are really close together so I found myself listening to other people's conversation a lot, but I like that close knit vibe. The wait was pretty long becuase so many people walked up at the same time, but they did a great job in seating us fast.
This is a great date place, or group dinner.

Anh T: Order the Entrana al Champignon (skirt steak with mushroom sauce). It's the best thing on the menu.

AT: Ummm..no. Order the Entrana al Champignon.
F2: Okay, I'll have whatever you said.
F1: Whatever. I'm still going with the Suprema Napolitana.
Our food arrives 15 minutes later.
F1: Uhhh...there's a pound of cheese on top of my chicken. Disgusting.

alright, I graduated motherfuckers. Argentina man...what an accent.
I got Salmon Dijon, but let me review everything i tried, which included a mojito, a mimosa, an argentinian beer, a bolivian beer, sangria, a cesar salad, and some pickin's of other plates...
my plate:
-salmon was deliciously executed. Seared on the outside, tender inside, and freshy fresh.
-sauce was a dijon-white wine sauce, which was the highlight of the dish.
-came with a yellow rice concoction that i think had saffron but im not really sure. Ultimately, nothing too special about the rice, although it was cooked masterfully.
-also came with a salsa fresca thing which had tomatos and onions but had nothing really special about it.
Mojito-
-pretty damn good mojito. not too sweat and syrupy, which i have experienced int he past. the herbs came to the forefront. minty and refreshing. light and dry.
mimosa-
-meh. didnt really like it. but...not really my thing anyway.
sangria-
-how could you not like sangria? this was quality though.
-beers were delicious. I especially liked the Pacena, from Bolivia.
- chicken a la cebolla was sorta overcooked.
-Lala mashed potatoes were good...they were a potatoe/carrot mix. neato.
-CESAR SALAD WAS DAMN AMAZING. wow, so much flavor in a damned salad.
-also had some empanadas which ended up being $2.5 each. sorta overpriced i think.
-oh and the appetizer was real swell....bread with a olive oil/parsely/chili dipping thing.
all in all....a great experience. Eating on the patio was great, and the waiter was very attentive and nice. I gotta brush up on my tipping game though..I gave a $20 tip for a 5 person meal which i think he interpreted as low, even though for me it was a hook-up. ahh, but what the fuck do i know when it comes to fine dining. I like death metal.
-id definitely recomend. its a casual, solid good time. i do admit its nothing out of this world or too special. its like a super neato casual grill mixed with an attempt at gucci type shit. thankfully its not breaking $20 a meal mark, but it is definitely influenced by its melrose-located ambiance.

I've been here many times - and if I had written my review after my first couple experiences - it would've been 4 stars.
Food is pretty good.
But the meat is always charbroiled/grilled too much
so most of the meat you will be eating will be burnt.
Every single time I went - I had to scrape off the char.
I love that french fries comes with many of the dishes.
But, what sucks is that the french fries usually are bottom soggy b/c of the meat juices that flow over to that side of the plate.
BRING A JACKET - this place is always cold period.
I like that they put candles on every table - this is how I tried to stay warm. At one point, I took candles from empty tables next to mine and had 4-5 candles because it was chilly.
Anyways, there is indoor & outdoor patio - just bring a jacket.
The service is okay.
Parking - you will have to find street and there is valet parking for $5.

I'd been wanting to check out La La's for quite some time now... Every time I drive by it always looks so packed, warm and inviting. The outdoor patio is perfect - location wise and and in respects to the ambiance. Anyways, it was more than what I was expecting - to be honest, I didn't really know what to expect. The food was excellent, especially for the dollar (It was a lot less expensive than I'd imagined). I mean you can get a great, huge meal - marinated chicken/steak, tasty rice/french fries/salad, salsa for around $12.You also get the bread and dipping sauce that everyone has mentioned which is good. Pair it all up with an imported south american beer and you're set. Food tasted fresh, service was on point (didn't hurt that she was cute too) and it was nice just being out on the patio taking it all in with everyone else.
if you're looking for a good meal at a decent price in a great location look no further.
street parking can be a tricky one though

My white boys (Yes that's what I call them haha) wanted some Lala's so we ended up here Saturday night. Apparently it's really poppin here because it was SO packed!!!! Even when we were walking by after Bungalow at like 2ish? the patio was still busy.
Everyone was staaaaaarving so we sat inside to eat instead of waiting for the patio. To eat on the patio the wait was an hour or more, but inside it was like 2 minutes. Yes it was hot inside, but then you got used to it. I didn't notice it at all after about 5 minutes. We ordered some brew, got some bread and dip (what's the dip? cilantro and?), ordered our food, and laughed our asses off. Who notices the heat when they're having a great time and buzzed? Not us.
I ordered the Lomo Lala's. Everyone liked my meal the most. Creamy, creamy light mashed potatoes with lomo (steak) which was topped with a wine sauce, mushrooms, and with salsa on the side and a side salad. Perfect. It was so good. WOWEE.
My friend got the chicken with garlic and mushrooms and he was burping some MAJOR ASS GARLIC so if you're on a date or something watch out!
Lomo Lala's. Can't go wrong. Yummy. Eat it at the restaurant and then have it for lunch and/or dinner the next day. :) mmmmm....

I've been here couple of times but I always order Entraa al Ajo (Grilled Angus Beef skirt steak, topped with sauted garlic and parsley) or Costilla (Grilled ribeye steak) with rice. The first time I went there, the meat was so dry and too well cooked, so I always tell them not to overcook my meat. I don't know if they actually listen to me but it's been ok all the other times that I've been to Lala's. I like sitting out in the patio when its warm outside. :)

Well, I didn't try the bread or the dipping sauce that Buttercheeks raves about. It wasn't intentional, but we were talking with my future father-in-law (FFIL) and my meal had arrived by the time I was thinking of partaking. The FFIL's swordfish looked amazing. My chicken dish was ok, but I was already thinking of the next visit when I would have the swordfish. The wine was ok, but very reasonably priced.

first off, parking is a nightmare. this is why i hate coming to these parts of LA. i either have to walk a mile from my parking spot, or i come back with a parking ticket on my car. luckily, no ticket this time.
this was my first experience with argentine food. my head was screaming at me to order steak (as Anh T. recommends in her review) but it was late and i didn't want to eat too heavy. so i ordered the grilled salmon...came with tomatoes and rice. i wasn't disappointed one bit. the salmon was awesome! and the tomatoes were delicious! the rice was nice and soft that i was almost tempted to eat all of it. i didn't tho.
i had three glasses of sangria, and i didn't get carded. :(
the staff was very attentive. they made sure to check on us every chance they got. i had good company and good conversation...so good that we got kicked out of the place cuz they were closing. i def wanna go back to try the skirt steak.

I didn't like anything associated with wine until I had their sangria. Gosh! It's been a month or so and I'm still thinking about it. Too bad parking is such a ...nut... otherwise I'd go there after work all the time ... haha.
Their food was okay, I ordered the wrong thing. I got the rice dish, it was much too liquidy for my tastes. My coworker's half chicken looked good and so did the grilled fish dishes. I must remember that the side that they offer can be split into 2. There's just too much if you stick with just one, not that that's a bad thing =d
We also got the appetizer platter and I really liked the cheese and onion empanadas =d The service was pretty good for a big table so...kudos to our server =)
One star less is for the forgetful waiter. He was lovely, nice, jokey and stuff, but he needed his reminders over and over and over again. That and for the cleanliness state of the place. The clean isn't so necessary, esp since it's a chill place, but it gave me the feeling of being in a club during the daylight hours. However, it is a cute place. Outside (though is situated interior of the place) patio is warm and filled with orange-red lights reminding you of lava and tropical fires.
Hands down the rice is the greatest. Salty, buttery, and herbed just right. It complements the main items on your dish, for those aren't seasoned as heavily. I got the swordfish skewered pieces. So good! Oh, and the bread dip. It's parsley, garlic, chili flakes, and olive oil. You'll be scooping it all out before the end of your meal.
That is all.
I use to live a couple of blocks from this place, so it was very convenient to just walk there.
Their sangria is DELICIOUS!!! I always always get a bottle of sangria. It's easy to drink but somehow, some way that thing gets me tipsy. I LOVE THEIR SANGRIA!!! I lost track of the many times walking back to my apartment drunku. Yes, not drunk...but drunku.
Ok, on to the food....
I've had one of their chickens but it wasn't good enough to remember.
I always order their steaks and I like them all. I love their mash potato sides and fries. They do give you a lot of food...so you never walk away with a half empty stomach.
I like the fact that they have both indoor and outdoor seating. You can even smoke a cigarette outside....which happens after one too many sangrias. BUT If it's hot outside..do not, I repeat, do not sit outside. It feels like a sauna and you can feel your face melt away.
I have been eating at LaLa's Grill for a few years now.
I recommend the patio seating, since its wonderful in any type of weather. I've come with friends and by myself. The food is reasonably priced, I always get the Chicken Al Provenzal. The wait staff is friendly, although on a few occasions have been slow. The causal enviornment and amazing food has kept me coming back. Even though it always seems busy, I've always been able to walk in and get a table right away.

a nice little quiet spot in Melrose. Good food, service is great and it can be a great place to take a date.
Skip the chicken, go for the MEAT! Specifically the Entrana, cooked medium with a salad. You won't go wrong with that order. You will find me there on Saturday's with friends enjoying that very dish. We've never had a bad meal @ Lala's. The food is hot and fresh. The service is excellent too. They also keep you glass full. I hate to keep asking for refills. The "salsa looking" side dish on your plate is actually called, Salsa Criolla. It's so good they offer a full extra order if what you have is not enough. You can also use the dipping sauce (Chimichurri) to dip your steak in. WARNING! WARNING! The desserts are CRAZY good, they all have Dulce de Leche (thick caramel sauce) in them. Sharing will be awfully difficult as you fight others away for the next bite. Just say no, push away from the table. Skip dessert until the next time it's table for one. No sharing!

Just went here for dinner with the bf and it was yum. I got one of the skirt steaks, medium rare (and they actually cooked it medium rare!). The fries were tasty and crispy and our server was super nice. Minus one star for how packed the tables are - 2 different tables of people got my ass and my purse in their faces as I tried to get out from my seat when we were done. Apologies to the purse-getters. The ass-getters thanked me.

The bread and the dip, the milanesa, the mashed potatoes. Those are the only things I've tried that have kept me going back there for the last 8 years.
I LOVE Lala's. Yummy, tasty, mouth-wateringly delicious food, great atmosphere, awesome crowd, good drinks, and amazing prices. I punch in the face anyone who dares to compare this to Gaucho grill - I can't believe it took this long for the GG Sunset location to close down, with Lala's so nearby. The only downside - lack of parking, but the valets take care of that. Must haves - best mashed potatoes in LA. All steaks are good, but if you are not that hungry - the sandwiches are yummy.
