I've now attended 2 weddings out at Lakeway Resort and it is one of the best venues for a reception that I've ever been to.  My only credentials for making such a statement is based on the bajillion weddings I've been to, but really I'm beyond impressed after wedding #2.

The view is beautiful, even with the lake low it's still nice and peaceful.  The decor has always been tasteful, nice layout for the band/stage in the middle.  The food is by far some of the best I've had at a wedding and the staff is nice and helpful.  It's awesome that your guests can stay right on site and that it's close enough to the resort bar that you can catch the game if it's during football season.  I'm all around impressed!

I could probably give 3.5 to this resort: 4 - for the warmth and hospitality of the employees, 5 - for the brunch, 2 - for the restaurant, 2 - massage. Again, I am very critical in the service I get as I am a hotelier. :)
My boyfriend planned this trip to celebrate my birthday (30th) and New Year. So, we arrived to the hotel just after 6pm on December 29th and of course, missed the Happy Hour. We actually went out for dinner that night to Flores (I will post separate  review), so it wasn't a big deal. At the door we were greeted by bell door ladies who escorted us to our king room with the balcony on the first floor. Interesting thing is the reception desk was on the 4th. The room had a lovely view and was clean. Despite of the lake water being low these days we enjoyed our specious balcony overlooking the lake and fire works on the 31st.
The hotel was peaceful and the only uncomfort I experienced was the loud heater in the room. When it kicks in - made loud noise and woke us up, so we kept it on fan as the noise was more tolerable.
When we came back after dinner, we went down to the hot tub - what an amazing view and the water was just at the right temperature in the 50F night.

On Friday we took off to Fredericksburg for a day trip. I will post separate reviews on the places we visited.

Saturday morning brought chill and beautiful day - it was the last day of the year and we decided just to lounge around, get massages and stay at the hotel. So, we had a wonderful brunch at the Travis dinning room. For the hotel it wasn't expensive at all - $32 for 2 people. Selection of choices was very good and accommodated all tastes. The service on Saturday was OK. However, Sunday morning brunch (January 1st)  was pleasant and served by the server Madelyn, who was absolutely exceptional!
After brunch on 31st we went down to the spa to see if we can arranged massages. Couple's massage room wasn't available (not sure if they have one) and all the massage therapist were guys. Well, we went ahead and booked it. Massage for 2 was $288 including tips! At that price I would expect exceptional massage, but it was OK. It wasn't the worst, but I had much better for much cheaper. Of course I understand that this is a hotel and the convenience of the massage location is essential, but I worked in top European hotels and know how I should feel after paying that amount of money. Ladies at the spa were lovely though. Oh well, we learn from mistakes.
Prior arriving to the hotel, my boyfriend booked a New Year Eve dinner at the Travis dinning room and the only available time was at 9:45pm. So, he asked if there are any cancellations to let us know as we would like earlier dinner. We arrived there at 8:45pm and they had few tables available. We were seated and greeted by Daniel (he was great server). The food was the worst food I haven't had in a while for $120 bill. I read reviews on the food here and shared with my boyfriend, but we decided to be optimistic.

After dinner we went to the Josey's for New Year Celebration. There was a tiny stage and very small area with just few tables. This event wasn't organized properly by the event's team as there was no space to seat when we checked it before 9pm. So, we decided to go back to our room and celebrate. If only we knew we could have went to many other places to celebrate such a great day!

Our check out was easy and quick and I actually enjoyed our stay.

I would definitely recommend the hotel to stay at and enjoy the brunch! However, go out and eat somewhere else - there are so many great places on Ranch Rd 620. This place would be absolutley wonderful in April-May, September-October with warm pools, breakfast on the porch!
By the way, you don't need to valet park your car for $12, there is plenty space for all.

In fact, we are going back to the area (just happened I have already booked my trip for my boyfriend's birthday before he did) in just few weeks and I will post more reviews.

We chose Lakeway as our destination for a friend's bachelorette party this past weekend. The service could not have been any better! Right off the bat, Melissa was extremely helpful and her main goal was to be sure we were 100% satisifed. We explained our situation about the bachelorette party and she made the great suggestion to have rooms that adjoined. It turned out to be one of the best decisions of the weekend. From the minute we got there the valet, the desk and service staff were very helpful and welcoming.

Since we had the adjoining rooms on the upper floor, I was a little sad that there wasn't a balcony to relax on but it was a nice treat to learn you could still open the sliding glass door completely and enjoy the outside!

I had scheduled two appointments at the spa and I believe it was Karyn that did my four type facial which was amazing! My only complaint with the spa was the girl at the front desk showed me to the locker room then just left me there without explaining where to go or what to do with the clipboard she tossed in my locker. I had to go fetch someone once I was dressed to find out where i needed to go to wait for my appointments.

I would suggest being cautious as the hotel adds 20% to any room service charge or treatments you get. The first time I ordered room service I wasn't aware of this and the delivery charge so I tipped extra but quickly learned.

The pool was fabulous. Clean, inviting and very relaxing and the waterslide is even fun for adults!

We had a wonderful time at the Lakeway resort and spa and have already started discussing when we will return with our significant others! I can't say enough wonderful things about our stay. It exceed all of our expectations by far!

Meh, I've experienced better about sums up my two night stay here. See, I've stayed at the Ritz in Arizona for less money, a better room, and much better service. Am I spoiled? Please, I hit that place up every chance I got because I worked my butt off 17 hours a day in combat boots.

I digress. My best friend and I arrived at Lakeway Resort and Spa after 4, since that's check in time. Valet is $12/day and not worth it considering the parking lot is ummm right there. We went to our lake view room, put our stuff away, and headed to complimentary happy hour. Whoo hoo! The bartender wasn't the most chipper lady in the world and didn't even acknowledge me for a solid 5 minutes. Still, for free wine I wasn't going to take her cold shoulder to heart.

I woke up early the next morning to get my work out on at the fitness center. There were plenty of machines but some had spider webs on them. On them. Yuck. The fitness center's wall of windows also faces east, where the sun comes up. It would be helpful if they invested in some shade coverings. I got charged $287/night, I think they can swing it.

After working out, my friend and I spent a girl's day down at the pool. Arriving at 9:30 in the morning to claim a spot, we settled in for a day of relaxation. Soon, a rowdy group of twenty-somethings who appeared to be trashed showed up. Other people starting arriving at the pool too but only to place a towel on chair so they could use it later in the afternoon. Isn't that cheating?

There is an adults only pool, which is the best idea ever. It's clean and looks out onto Lake Travis. The swim up bar opened at noon (Sunday liquor laws in the Bible Belt stand true) and I ordered a skinny margarita while my friend ordered a pina colada. The margarita was okay, but it was definitely not worth $9. The pina colada was awful and my friend sent it back was told she would not be refunded. Huh?

We also ordered lunch while at the pool. I got gazpacho since it was so blazing hot out. Ummm bad choice. It was so salty I couldn't eat it. I ended up eating a Kashi bar I brought instead.

After spending all day at the pool, we headed back up to our room around 4 only to find it had not been cleaned. Housekeeping came by around 6 that evening asking us if they could come in and clean. What? 6?! I declined because ummmm why wasn't it done earlier in the day and there was no point now. I then mentioned this to the front desk only to be told "I'm sorry that happened."

Pros to this place: happy hour, views, gorgeous pool.

Cons: poor service, not worth the price they charge, cleanliness or lack thereof.

Beautiful hotel - gorgeous pool (although the hot tub was broken) - the service was fantastic - the restaurant for breakfast was pretty decent - and I loved the fact you could go right down to the marina to jet ski or rent a boat or whatever your lil heart desired.

Plus 10 pts for being near the Galleria!!  :)

We had an amazing Easter Brunch here in the beautiful Vistas Ballroom. The Ballroom was set up buffet style and with the glass walls over looking the lake we had amazing views while indulging in our food orgy!

And what a food orgy it was! 49.00 for a buffet is usually wasted on my small appetite at lunch time. But, I totally took advantage and tasted as many things as my stomach could hold!

I started at the Cold Station with Crab Salad Shooters with avocado and and pico!!!! stars the Shrimp Cocktail was average and the White Bean Duck Frisee Salad bumped up the stars for the "Cold Station"

Next I hit the Omelet Station for an Egg-mazing omelet prepared to order with spinach mushrooms and EXTRA cheese! Perty much Perfect with a side of breakfast tatters!

At this point I was stuffed but had to have a bite of my bro in-laws' Roasted Pork Loin dressed in a Bacon-Sherry Vinaigrette. YUM!

And speaking of Bacon I smuggled out some Apple Smoked Bacon in my purse for my dog back home!

And speaking (repeating myself) of dogs the hotel is very dog friendly if your dog happens to be small! If my "big dog" and salary allowed I would love to live here in the Mansfield Suite overlooking the lake with Happy Hour everyday at either the Backstage Bar or Josie's and then retiring to the Library for reading or game boards!

Dear god this place was gorgeous. The swimming pool was heavenly, and I could have stayed there all day.

There's a great workout room (small, but nice), a day spa, a restaurant, and it's just a mile or so away from wonderful running trails.

I don't even know how to describe this other than: go there, bring your suit, you'll be happy. Everyone is there to make your life easier :)

We spent two nights here on our honeymoon. I wish I could give it a 4.5 review. We really loved the area, and our view of the lake was great. Three days in a row there were deer to greet us outside our window.
The check-in employee was a little cheeky and not very good at making us feel welcomed, but besides this the other employees seemed nice.
Great view for breakfast, and we loved their happy hour. Beautiful pool, nice gym.

My husband and I booked the Romantic Retreat in the San Saba spa on a Friday morning, and had a wonderful experience. We were greeted warmly and each shown to our respective locker rooms, where we changed into nice, luxurious robes and slippers, and then made our way to a lounge area to decompress for a few minutes, before our masseuses came in to escort us to our "suite" for our massages. I loved the cucumber and citrus water available in the ladies' lounge.

The next 50 minutes were pure heaven! My masseuse was Tom, and I couldn't help but feel sorry for my husband, whom I thought could not possibly be having the experience I was! Tom is a true artist in his profession! Absolutely the best massage I've ever had, and I've had a few ... But, my husband assured me that Carolyn treated him just as well, so no worries, there.

Before they disappeared, Tom and Carolyn brought us each a glass of wine and got the double-rain-showers and multi-jets going for us in the shower. We were left to our own devices for about the next hour. We never felt so relaxed!

The views from the balcony are amazing, and we vowed we'd make this a regular haunt, when time for a longer trip isn't available. It's definitely a jewel in our own back yard!

This place was quite nice! The staff was very friendly and helpful with any questions about surrounding attractions or any needs one may have. The pool(s) were beautiful and well maintained and the swim up bar was a great convenience to beat the heat and have a few beverages. The room I stayed in was clean, nicely furnished, and had an excellent view! The restaurant on premises was the low point of the stay for me due to pricing and food quality, but they do allow food orders at the pool so it is quite convenient if you want to spend your time by the water. It is a pretty quick drive to Barton Springs and UT if you want a night out as well! Overall and excellent resort and I would venture to say there is no better place for a "staycation" in Texas!

This was a great 2-3 day getaway retreat!!! It was perfect!!! I had seen this resort by google-ingresorts in Austin and this one caught my eye. The rooms were fairly reasonable and the service was impeccable. Although I did not have a great view it really didn't matter because we were always at the pool and the swim-up bar. The happy hour that was provided for guest staying in the hotel was great. They served beer and wine and really set the mood for the rest of the trip for us. The food at the Restaurant was great as well. The braised short rib nachos were amazing and my boyfriend craved them the entire trip.
The swim up bar also serves food as well. The bartender was so sweet and she made amazing drinks for us. I personally liked the raspberry sweet tea vodka. This is a great way to spend as a couple getaway the 3-tier infinity pool is adults only, which was nice. We do not have children and although we love them we were happy to have some separation from them.
The spa was great and personable. I had a manicure because I desperately needed one. Tran was amazing and the other women, whom I regret cannot remember her name was great as well. I was definitely relaxed and cannot wait to spend another weekend there hopefully in the fall.

I have heard from several friends that the spa part of this lush resort is truly fabulous. I have no doubt that's true even though my review is for the hotel part.

The fire came in the early afternoon. I was 350 miles away and offshore. Linda was home with the dogs doing bills when the fire got so close to our house that she was forced to grab her purse, the dogs, and her keys and run for it. We live in Oak Hill and the Pinnacle Fire had reared its ugly head.

She had the clothes on her back, her purse with her phone in it, and two dogs. That was it. She stopped running when she hit Bee Caves. Several truly wonderful friends immediately offered to take her in, but she was shook, and on the wrong side of the fire. We're semi newcomers to Austin and still not completely sure of roads and routes. From my ship, I looked for hotels nearby that would take dogs and the Lakeway Resort & Spa came up. I called them and quickly explained what had happened. Their response was simple and direct. And exactly what I needed to hear. 'We absolutely have a room for her, and the dogs are welcome too. I'll tell you the quickest way to get her here. We'll be waiting" That was Dillon, at the front desk. When she showed up a bit later with the dogs, bedraggled and smelling strongly of smoke, they were indeed waiting. They treated her like royalty. First they upgraded her room. Then they made sure the dogs had food and water and made sure she knew that she could take them through the lobby if she wanted to go out with them for a walk. They brought all the little sundries she didn't have. She likes coffee so they made sure she had more than enough coffee packets in her room. Running from a fire that seems to be everywhere is exhausting, she just wanted to relax. Boy did she come to the right place.

The room was stunning and large. With a balcony and a view of Lake Travis. She took pictures so I can see. The view was magnificent. The shower was huge, steamy hot and just the right amount of pressure. The big fluffy robe was exactly what she wanted to snuggle into. She didn't want to go out for dinner but that was easily solved. The room service was prompt and scrumptious. The cup of freshly brewed after dinner coffee was that touch of normalcy that lets the tension ease just a little. The bed was so comfortable she never even tried the chair and sofa. A huge flat screen TV let her get the updates on the fire that she craved, but distracted her from them when she needed to shut it out. The room was so quiet she could hear the dogs breathing as they slept. It was a very comforting sound.

She woke up this morning to good news. Our house was still there. The fire department was probably going to let her go home late in the afternoon. She called the front desk and told them she'd like to stay for a few extra hours and would be glad to pay for it, and they said they'd handle it at checkout, whenever she left. At 3:30 she got the all clear to go home and checked out. They didn't' charge her for the extra time. Or the upgrade. Or any of the sundries, or any of the dozen things they did to make her feel safe and welcome from the scariest thing you can deal with.

They get an honest 5 stars for the incredibly high standard of service, but there's more to it than that. Thank you Lakeway Resort and Spa. Thank you for being so fabulous and lush and comfortable and beautiful, but even more, thank you for going so far out of your way to make the woman I love feel safe when I wasn't there to.

We had a 3 night stay at the resort, and we had a great stay.  The kids enjoyed the pool, water slide, and water volleyball.  We felt the choices of places to eat at the resort were slim; they really need more to offer for guests to stay longer.  But, we did eat at some good places in Lakeway thanks to our fellow Yelpers.

This is a combination review that includes privately owned condos, Josie's the Restaurant, the pool and marina. I hadnt been here in years and things have certainly upgraded in that time. Our condo, while expensive was expertly appointed with furniture and ammenities and the view was spectacular and just a short walk to pool. The pool is fantastic. There is something for everyone. If you have young kids, start at the first layer. If you are married with older kids, come to the next level. The third level includes a bar and seems to be reserved for singles or couples that didnt bring kids and also includes a jacuzzi. Great way to spend an afternoon.

The speed to table for our food at Josies wasnt great but the food certainly made up for it. Their Sunday night fried chicken special included white and dark meat with mashies and mac and cheese that could please the most finicky eater. The green vegetable made for a great equalizer to this carb fest. The roasted chicken and dumplings was perfectly executed and included baby carrots and spinach that was tender and tasty.

I took a trip to the hotel to check it out and while the rooms were ordinary, the view and emmenities were great. I understand the spa is top notch too.

Our day on the lake with a quick trip to marina was great when you consider ease and location. All in all, this was a perfect place to spend Labor Day weekend.

Great place for a quiet getaway, with or without the kids.  We took our 11 year old and 3 year old and they had a blast at the pool.  Great water slide that will keep most kids busy the entire day.  Very friendly waitstaff and good food and drinks, although pricey.  Very close to some small town type places to eat as well if you leave the resort.

We loved this resort.  We were able to get a great price on a lake view with 2 QUEEN beds.  Upon arriving, they upgraded us to a balcony room.  The view was great.  Service from start to finish from every employee was fabulous.  The pool area was great - 3 tier adult pool, kids pool with water slide and water volleyball pool with deep end.  Great location on the lake and in a residential area so you don't feel so much like a tourist.  All the conveniences you could want in the area.

I dropped in here last week during the ACL recovery promotion they were running, and the gods, as it turned out, were smiling. I'm sure that summer constitutes high season in these parts, and as such, the crowd was a little less visible this time around, which suited me just fine...but if your chief M.O. is a little get off the grid time without the manifest of flying or a massive drive...then you may just sort this out just fine.

First of all, let's state what struck me most: the room was huge, easily the largest hotel room (exempting suites) that I've stayed in, with a great view of the lake. I can only imagine that summertime, when the sun flies higher (longer) would make that view idyllic. But it was a welcome respite regardless. We hit the restaurant for dinner, and found the fare tasty and our server super congenial, and overall worthy of a second bite. But ultimately, one of the things that makes this hotel so inherently comfortable constitutes one of its challenges: it can seem at times a little dated.

I mentioned the size of the rooms, and the great cheer of the folks on hand, and all of that's completely true. But there are vast expanses of this place that drift unattended. That may have to do with the fact that we visited offseason...but I'd love to see how things shook out under more seasonally hopping environs. I do know this: I loved my steak, loved the giant sitting area at the foot of the bed. Loved the space and the ambient light besides. I'll be back.

NEW RULE!!!!! In Austin, where the summer heat has had us at over 100 degrees 29 straight days, I am instituting a new Rule for Living in this Cursed Heat:

    SWIMMIN' EVERY WEEKEND!

This weekend, our Fearless Yelp Leader, his Lovely Bride, and myself ventured out to what has got to be one of the best pools North of the Rio Grande.  The pool has three levels on one side, two more pools on the other side, and a big water slide for kids.  Oh wait, you are thinking "On one side ... on the other side ... Side of WHAT, Jefe?"

On either side of the SWIM UP BAR.  Sold.  Done and Done.  I got in my quotient to satisfy the newly made rule, I swam up and ordered a beer, and I had what had to be one of the best frozen Margaritas ever.  Sadly the pool is only open to the public once a month, during the Live at the Lake Music Series, but you can bet I will be there next month, even if th band does sorta bore me to tears.

This place is going through a major renovation but really needs to concentrate on the service end of business before they try to market themselves as an actual resort. It was simply one of the worst experiences I've ever had, and I'm pretty easy to please.

A large group of young couples decided we would all take advantage of the advertised New Year's Eve celebration, with a five-course, pre-fixed menu, a live band, and acommodations for the night.

The first hint of our debacle started at check-in, where the front desk help was obviously not happy to be working that evening and was very rude. The rooms themselves were great. Very clean, with a great view of Lake Travis.

Dinner was advertised to be served from 8-10pm. Our group of fourteen (one of many large groups) arrived promptly at 8:00. We did not see a waiter for at least twenty minutes or more. When one finally arrived, he encouraged us to "walk around the grounds while we waited on our food, and try to get drinks from the bar." Strange.

By 9:30, the entire restaurant was getting impatient and hungry. Several tables less patient than ourselves had already left. We decided to go get wine from the bar at since we had not seen our waiter again (not once!), and one of our friends asked the hostess, who was enjoying a full plate of food at the hostess stand, if there was anything we could do. She replied that we could "go sit back down and wait."

Sometime around ten, our appetizers arrived, ice cold. The next course arrived at about 10:45... a sorbet and champagne pairing, minus he champagne, which never came. Finally, the main course arrived somewhere around 11:30pm, a flavorless piece of beef, again served ice cold. Dessert arrived at 11:45 for some of our party... not everyone. Each couple still paid the full $140 per couple, shocked at what we had just been through.

With no time to spare, we made our way to the New Year's celebration at the adjoining bar. We were amazed to find entertainment provided by one guy on a small stage with a guitar, playing along to songs off of his ITunes. Really? Austin is the live music capitol of the world! You can throw a rock and hit a band in this town! Obviously a plan to cut costs in any way possible. Bar service was rude, slow, and extremely overpriced.

We retired to the courtyard outside the bar at 12:15, where it was starting to get very cold. We asked for someone to come help us light one of the many heat lamps around, and finally a manager came out and rudely told us that they would not light them until tomorrow night and that we should "go to bed." This while there were still plenty of patrons in the bar and the "band" was still playing.

We each retired to our separate rooms around 12:30, amazed that we had spent so much money to be treated to so rudely with such horrible food and service.

I never post reviews, negative or otherwise, but I feel obligated to tell you all how bad this place is. It has a lot of potential but they basically need to start from scratch with the staff if this place is to survive. I don't mind paying a lot for a great weekend or even for a bad meal as long as the service is positive. But the level of rudeness at this place it entirely unacceptable. No matter what the explanation is, there's never, ever an excuse for rude service from the staff. All night long, from almost everyone one staff!

This place is certainly not equipped to handle large groups at this time. But judging from the reactions of couples who were trying to have a romantic weekend, I'm not sure it's equipped to handle any guests at all. I don't think they make a hotel version of "Kitchen Nightmares", but this place needs help in a major way.

Great place, friendly staff and a fantastic view of lake Travis. Located in an upscale part of Austin. You must choose the lakeview because you want to wake up to a view like mine!! : )

ps- dont order room service foods... its suck bad and over prices.

Ok, so my husband and I went here with the Army...and thankfully didn't have to pay for much. I know, I know...don't look a gift horse in the mouth....but this place made that SO fucking HARD!!! Maybe I'm just too picky...but when a place claims to be a resort...I expect certain things out of it. My husband and I may not have money....but my ex's family does, so I have stayed at some really ritzy places.
I saw how much this place charges for a room...and I about pissed myself from laughing! Yes...this place gives the appearance of being all nice...and the picture of the pool looks pretty cool...BUT:

Can they not afford some better toilet paper? Seriously...the stuff they provided us with was comparable to Motel 6...

Have they ever heard of a pool boy? Or maybe a pool cleaning service? I'm sure it would be easier to clean if they didn't keep plants by the pool that set a lot of debris free...but seriously...is it really that hard to pay someone to skim the pool every day?

Most of the staff was downright rude. In a place that charges what they charge...I expect the staff to smile and mean it...and not grumble or give the guests dirty looks.

Is it too much to ask for sheets with a thread count that is higher than 200? This expectation that I have may come from the fact that my parents own a bed and bath shop....but for the prices they charge they shouldn't be buying their sheets from WalMart!!!

I have about the same opinion on the towels. Except that they were so rough that they gave me a rash. Again...a place like this should at the very least use some freaking fabric softener!!!

That about sums it up for the resort part....now...on to my review about the "Travis" restaurant...

Last night I went to the Lakeway Resort for their weekly Sunday night free concert in the pool, sponsored by KGSR. Each time I go, I'm amazed that it's not more crowded. This is an amazing event each week! They have a huge three-tier pool right in front of a stage overlooking Lake Travis. They get pretty big name acts most weeks.

Last night was Carolyn Wonderland, 11 days after her Blues on the Green show. The pool is maybe 20 or 30 feet away from the stage. For some reason, she stopped playing after an hour, while she was scheduled to play for two hours. No explanation was given. We'll give her the benefit of the doubt and assume she wasn't feeling well in the extreme heat.

So, you can park for free and take a shuttle or pay $10-$20 and park near the entrance. Admission really is free. The catch is that they search your bags and you're not allowed to bring in any food or drinks. They used to serve (really bad) food, but they seem to have stopped. They have a full bar, which is somewhat pricey, as you might imagine.

Otherwise, you grab a drink and a spot in the multi-level pool. Half is for adults, who range from frat guys to middle aged local residents. The other half is for kids, and has a water slide. What could be better on a Sunday afternoon than hanging out drinking in a nice pool, listening to live music?

There were a few negatives. You need to arrive early. There's only a few seats available and parking is limited. It can get crowded for the more popular shows. My friends arrived after Carolyn stopped playing, and they were encouraged to buy VIP seats, with no mention that the show was over! They would have been kicked out 30 minutes after they arrived without hearing any music.

To sum up, it's a long drive from downtown, and it's a bit of a hassle to park and all, but it's definitely worth doing at least once. Bring a group of people, and you'll have a great time!

I got an $80 haircut at the spa salon and was really disappointed. Nothing about the service was "spa like". The hairdresser was really opinionated and negative and talked too much. The haircut itself was too fast, with no attention to detail or high end products used. At that price point I'm expecting a little scalp massage or something extra. The room you get your hair cut in feels like a closet that was turned into a "salon". There are only two chairs in the tiny room with no natural light.

Afterwards I had lunch. A very dry turkey club sandwich with no condiments or seasoning.

Overall: mediocre to poor and way overpriced.

The multi-tiered pool, which offers panoramic views of Lake Travis, is absolutely stunning.

    Which makes me think...

Did the run out of money before getting to the rooms?  The room (particularly the bathroom) lacked the same panache and wow-factor as the outdoors.

And while you can get a great deal on the room itself, they kill you when it comes to services.  $15 service charge for room service? $80 pedicure? A bit over-priced for a hotel in the middle of Texas.

Absolutely love this place! It is close enough to ATX, but you still feel like you are far away from the world! The sunsets here are breathtaking and it is a relaxing mini vacation! I love just sitting on the back porch watching the sunset or in the morning enjoying the beginning of a new day! It is so peaceful.  Probably because we went Sunday through Wednesday.  There is a marina close by or you could just hang out at the pool or spa all day!

I ordered a rack of ribs and mash potatoes. They were both served cold and it took forever to get service. I ordered white wine and that came warm. Great view but their service is focused on business meetings.

Again this is a Live at the Lake pool review and I'm afraid I'm gonna have to knock a star back.  Lots of changes this year and I'm assuming management has its reasons, but in this case, change is not good.  Now there's a $5 cover which is minimal and I'm not strictly opposed to that, but they are also only doing this once a month now so I guess they gotta charge cover to make up for those "down" sundays?

What really wadded my panties was now you have to purchase tokens for drinks.  That means you have to do some serious math and be able to predict how much you're gonna spend while there, cause you can't cash these babies in if you have em left over.  Each token is worth $2.50 and there's a sign that says what each beverage costs and I was silently trying to carry the one and decide if two or three drinks were gonna do me and what is the pre-made vodka drink they offer, and......it was a bit overwhelming.  Also thank God hubby had board shorts on with pockets.  Me in my tiny bikini?  Where exactly do you want me to keep my now large booty of coins?  I already got a large booty taking up space, no room for two!  It was inconvenient to say the least and I have to wonder if the bartenders are losing out too.  They say their tip is built in to the system and it is (a glass of wine is now $7.50 in tokens as opposed to $7 last year) but I would much rather overtip if I want (and usually do after a few!)

But it's still a fantastic event to chill at the pool, hear a great band while the sun goes down over the "lake" (chain of islands), look at some great bodies, and you can make tons of new friends who are more than willing to apply your sunscreen (aww, so sweet!).  Hopefully they will work out the kinks and keep this place super cool in the pool!  We will definitely be back for the Bob Schneider show in August!

**sidenote:  also great seeing Yelp represent there with their coozies!  Everyone in the pool had em!  Brilliant Kevin!***

Hospitable, relaxing, breath taking, world class service, accommodating comes to mind when I think of me and my finacce's stay at the Lakeway resort this past weekend (June 9th-12th 2011)

This past Christmas we were looking at different resorts, and we stumbled across Lakeway Resort and Spa. After looking at the pictures, he fell in love with the resort. As an expression of my love and appreciation for him, I first booked a two night stay for the Escape to the Lake package for his birthday. After much consideration and a needed break for the both of us, I called back and changed my reservations to a three night stay. Yes, despite the mixed reviews, I still decided to book a reservation to stay at Lakeway for my fiancée's birthday. I am so happy that I changed my mind and went with the three day stay and still booked the resort although there were some negative reviews.

We had a blast. The resort and its views are simply beautiful. The great thing is you don't really ever have to leave the resort. We went swimming at the adult pool with the swim up bar (LOVED IT and SIMPLY BEAUTIFUL!!!), jet skiing, and did the sunset cruise...which is a MUST.  Our last night there, my fiancée and I were really trying to understand where some of the people got their negative comments and reviews from. We slept like babies. The rooms were quiet and the bed was beyond comfortable. Like some of the reviews stated, parking was fine and we could not hear babies crying or people talking through the walls. We absolutely loved our room and the view of Lake Travis. It was enough space for the two of us since we were only showering and sleeping in the room because we were experiencing the beauty of the resort and being treated like royalty by the friendly and very accommodating staff. The staff is to die for. I have never met such a wonderful staff of people. I mean there wasn't a single staff member who was not friendly. From Daniel (the bartender at the swim up bar in the adult pool) to Marcus and Edgar (two lovely waiters at Josey's) to Laura (lovely lady in the front desk) to Allison (who is a manager). I would just go back to see all these lovely faces again and to be around such friendly employees.  Allison provided my soon to be husband and I with world class customer service. She and other employees at Lakeway are the epitome of what customer service should be, and it is customer service like that which will keep us coming back and referring others to Lakeway Resort and Spa.

Please don't listen to the negative reviews because if I would have, I would have never been able to have a wonderful vacation.

I can truly say that my fiancée and I enjoyed our stay at the Lakeway Resort & Spa as we were provided world class service all while basking in what seemed like a tropical getaway. It was a pleasure staying at Lakeway Resort and Spa, and we are planning to return to Lakeway soon!

I have to admit, the pictures looked better than the resort in person. I would give it a 3 out of 5 for cleanliness and I am a clean freak when it comes to hotels. I noticed cracks in the walls and dirt in corners and the rooms weren't outstanding by any means. Still, it was neat and tidy and I was VERY impressed by one of the bartenders who worked in the bar/lunch area. Don't know his name...he was new, and REALLY bent over backwards with service. XLNT! One thing, though, was the DISGUSTING smell in the elevators. Holy cow, it smelled like a giant fart cloud. It was so bad that we held our noses everytime we stepped in there. Funny thing was that the hotel staff would innocently respond, "what smell??" when we asked them about it. Not too shabby but definitely no Wynn from Vegas.

Well--where to start?  Every once in awhile, you just need to get away.  And if you live in Austin, this is the place.  half hour from home, gorgeous setting, great spa, nice enough rooms (splurge on the lake view---don't be cheap and go to the lake so that you can stare at a parking lot!)
super comfy beds, great cocktails, swim up bar, pretty darn good food, very gracious employees.  What else would you need?
My husband and I sneak away a couple of times a year during the week when it's slow, just to "feel" like we are on vacation  when we are worn out and we come here.  (it's GREAT in winter too--the hot tub or bubble up tub as I like to call it is FAB--right on the lake!)  We LOVE this place even though it's only 20 minutes from our home.
Rick in the bar makes the best Sangria around.  We dined at the restaurant--Josey's (?) and the food was really pretty great.   It's comfort food with big portions but after a day of drinking at the SWIM UP BAR--what else would you want?
The lake is looking great these days.   The pool area is gorgeous.  The spa is also pretty freaking nice---way better than the woodhouse day spa---you can sit in the waiting room here that juts out over the lake and really feel like you are in another country.

Tran gives the best mani/pedis.  you will be very happy!

If you just need a night (or a week) away, come out here---you will be glad you did!   No airplanes or traffic--just the lake and paradise!

The only reason that they did not get 5 stars it that  the elevators smell a tiny bit sewer gassy.   Not sure why---the place is super clean and very well run!
We'll be back!!!!  Again and again!

Went to the resort for a corporate meeting.  Room was decent, view was outstanding.  Great venue for corporate events.  Food was good, bar was great, service was good.  Long drive into Austin for the night life, but acceptable if you're really there for the resort.  Can't wait to go back for a family vacation.

i got a salt scrub and a facial here. the salt scrub wasn't relaxing and i didn't notice much of a difference afterwards. the facial was very relaxing! i almost fell asleep, but then my person would start talking again. i wish she would be less chatty. the facial felt really good and cleansing, but afterwards i noticed i had some red splotchy spots from the extracting. i think she might have gotten a little too aggressive, but i do also have sensitive skin.
