1) $100/night (don't forget to say AAA discount).

2) The hotel is behind the casino, so you don't have to walk through the ringing bells.

3) All rooms have a deck, so it's best to request the 2nd floor.

4) They have a $3.99 breakfast special before 11a.m.

5) Did I mention $100/night?

This is easily my favorite casino in Tahoe.  I love low limit blackjack places where drinks come quickly and you are SURROUNDED by local degenerate gamblers.

Following a hand where Clueless Lady on Far Left (who apparently doesn't mind losing her arse) clearly should have hit leaving the perfect deathcard to the dealer- the next hand goes a lil' somethin' like this:

Clueless Lady On Left: "Hit, I wanted to hit."

Dealer: "Ma'am, you can't hit after doubling down."

Degenerate ON Right's face gets RED and  his eyes grow as big as saucers.

DO to Degen on Right: "Remember when the Oakland A's had Carney Lansford?"

Degenerate On Right is now destracted and slighly confused.

DO continues to Degenerate on Right: "He didn't hit a ton of homeruns.  He wasn't amazing, but he played a goooood, soooolid 3rd base."

Yes, I went there. Of course, I went there!  Then I turned my head looking Clueless Lady on Left in the eye with a sheepish grin. The dealer struggles to keep a straight face.  Degenerate On Right coughs into his hand and shakes his head, "effin' A".  Although Clueless Lady On Left did not get it, she knew she wasn't in on the joke and rolled to the next table with a confused look on her face.

Yes, I am an a-hole, but I really saved her from the wrath of the Degenerate On Right...and then me and the Degenerate went on a nice hot streak.  There's your happy ending.  It worked out for everyone.

I also had a blast doing karaoke here at Tavern Bar.  Locals go here to blow off some steam, imbibe, and shriek rock, country, and the occasional R&B tune.  Although it was locals that mostly knew each other, it didn't feel too clicquey as they were into my butchered  version of Toadies' Possum Kingdom.

In past trips with family my grandpa always demands we go for the cheap prime rib deal and $3.99 breakfast.  Neither are the best, but it's a good excuse to come and gamble here.

Basically Lakeside Inn is a cool, blue collar good time.  People worried about looking cool need not apply.  So help me Jesus.

We just got back from staying at the lakeside inn, first let me say they accept dogs! which was the main reason we stayed. Our  expectation fit what we got. An ok room with a king bed, a cheap price, and the food was pretty darn good! The prime Rib for 11 bucks was great and the wine list(not the best) was priced very reasonably. There is also a great walking trail a block away that leads to a beach where our dog took a nice swim. If you don't expect too much you will be ok with this place

Casino for Locals

Hidden.  This is located a bit farther down on the strip and away from all the bright lights and gaggle of tourists clogging the street.  I would have never known about this place until the group of snowboarders who always troupe it in here for the cheap Blackjack tables and the prime rib dinners blabbed it out.

Now, if I am in Tahoe and feeling the urge to drop some quarters into the slot machines (I'm not good at 21, although I do like Texas Hold'Em) Lakeside is the way to go.  They recently upgraded their filtering system so the stench of cancerous smoke has lessened.  The prices of their drinks has gone up, but still a lot cheaper than the other two larger casinos up the strip.

The Prime Rib dinner is an awesome deal.  For 16 oz for around $15, you get a large slice that is tender and buttery with a little trim of fat to keep you all happy.  It comes a decent roll of bread, a loaded potato and the heavenly piece of meat that is rare, just the way I like it.

I never win when I come here, but then again, assuming so would be the greatest sin of all, although I have had friends win a couple grand here playing Keno and several hundreds of dollars playing craps.  The staff here are nice and basically leave you alone to lose your money.

Went up to the Lake over the New Year holiday to do a little gambling, and spent the majority of the time throwing my money away at the Lakeside.  This is a chill casino with low table minimums and great odds on the craps table.  The best part of the Lakeside is their sports book.  Plenty of TV's, cheap crappy food, and not too crowded, even during the NFL Wild Card Weekend.   Try the $4 hot dog and onion ring combo.  The Atlanta Falcons' lousy play made me want to puke it up, but that is another story.  Matt Ryan thanks for ruining my parlay card. Oh yeah, almost all drinks are three dollars.

I've stayed in the "Inn" before, and it's not too bad.  If you think roadside motel meets tacky lodge and don't pay over $99.99, you'll be ok.  But if you need to be on the main strip where all the action is, you will be disappointed

We went here as a last minute decision for New Years and most of the other hotels in Tahoe were booked. The price was pretty good compared to everything else and we weren't expecting much.

We ended up getting one of their suites which was only maybe total $70 more for the two nights. It was pretty big and had a little bar area and couch and balcony. The bed kinda sucked though. Really hard bed and the pillows were soooo thin so my neck hurt in the mornings. I also didn't love how the hotel rooms were all laid out cause you had to go out in the cold to do anything...go to the casino, hot tub, get ice, anything...which sucks when its cold out.

The location is good in that its close to everything but its a short DRIVE to everything. You cant really walk it to anywhere from here. Its probably a 10-15 min walk to montbleu which is at the end of the strip.

In the casino i didn't find the staff to be too friendly but the minimum bets were pretty low. I actually ended up winning several hundred in one of the slot machines so at least the slots pay out?

I wouldn't stay here again but if you want a casino with low minimum bets, cheap food, not too far out of the way this may be your spot. Not the best place to choose for your hotel though.

How does one describe a casual restaurant in a Casino as having one of the most tender cuts of Prime Rib I have had? I just don't know that I can :)
The price is fabulous, but get this....they offer Prime Rib as part of a breakfast. When I come to town as much as I love Tahoe, I have to make my way here for the Prime Rib.
So...my breakfast yesterday consisted of..Prime Rib, 2 eggs done as you wish, hashbrowns, cheese enchilada, and some refried beans. Yes...it's alot, but this is the prime meal of the day. No lunch required after this whopper (no not McDonalds).  Come hungry. I've eaten here for breakfast and dinner and they have something for everyone, and late night too for that after partying meal.
I need that enchilada recipe so if anyone can coax it out of the cook...please let me know.

The Lakeside Inn is one of the less expensive hotels in the area, and they accept pets. With my limited budget, and my dog in tow I thought that this would be my best bet while staying the night in South Lake Tahoe. There's a twenty dollar refundable pet fee which is much better than the 50- 100 dollar pet fees required by the other hotels.

Within minutes of checking in I wished I had gone to one of the more expensive hotels across the way. Not only was the room noisy and stuffy, it was permeated with cigarette smoke. The smell smoke literally washed over me when I opened the door. I couldn't believe it, I've never experienced anything like it. Everything smelled of cigarettes, the towels the sheets, the soap in the bathroom. In the morning I too emerged smelling like a Lucky Strike. My clothes reeked, my hair reeked (even after two showers), and everything I had taken into the room smelled of tobacco. I was disgusted to say the least (having asked for a nonsmoking room).

I also made the mistake of eating at the casino. The food was really expensive. I paid 16 dollars for an enchilada at the restaurant. It was late, and I really didn't want to leave the hotels...again, my mistake. This place may be great for gamblers, but it seemed pretty awful to me. The only plus was that the staff seemed pretty friendly.

So we leave Harrahs. Thank goodness, and ended up here. The cowboy ordered a prime rib sandwich...Lord that was ALOT of prime rib. I ordered a cheeseburger and onion rings. The food is happenin. Loaded prime rib, fruit, fresh bread, not too much fat. My cheese burger was cooked medium loaded with cheese and fresh veggies. The onion rings were beer battered and I was hungry. I mean it was good and filling. We ended up getting a room at 59.00 a night from a very sweet front desk agent who was informative, helpful, and down right courteous. The room itself looked like a log cabin room with good heat/air conditioning, nice lighting and a beautiful painting of Emerald Bay...Lord I love this place. You get more than what you pay for. I was pretty durn impressed.

Gobs of unhealthy, but tasty food at rock bottom prices (guess it's a fringe benefit of trying to get u to gamble there)
$10.50 prime rib special (with too many sides) will fill you up after shredding the mountain all day and it's open 24 hours !!!
More old timer/worn out/or just plain wild westerners there
Most vehicles in the parking lot have a gun rack on the back window...

Whenever I feel like getting my ass kicked by some local I venture over to the Lakeside Inn.

The $2.99 prime rib more than makes up for the black eye and fat lip.

DO NOT ask the cougar at the end of the blackjack table to blow her smoke in the other direction.

You have been warned.

Classy.

I stayed here and was pleasantly surprised. When we first got there we checked in early and then charged us $80 less than we were quoted for our two night stay. We got a room in the "glenbrook" wing which had a nice flat screen TV. I peeped into some of the other rooms when they were being cleaned (yes im nosey) and noticed they were not as nice as ours, so if you're going to stay here I recommend the Glenbrook.
As for the casino, the craps tables were the cheapest we found, and still payed out nicely, probably the reason this is the locals favorite.

This hotel was recommended to us by family and it helped out a lot since they gave us a discount! This place is cozy.

ROOM:
Pros: Cozy feel to it. Comfy bed. We had a sliding glass door that led right out to the pool area.

Cons: Kind of small (we had a king size bed), but cozy. The walls are paper thin though. You could hear people running up and down the stairs. The idiots across the hall from us were loud as can be late at night and you could hear everything they were saying/doing. You could also hear water running through the pipes in the walls.

CASINO:
Pros: Variety of different games. Friendly staff. It also helped that I won big money on the Wheel of Fortune slot!

Cons: Kind of small. Not allowed to smoke cigars in the casino. Didn't see a cocktail waitress once while we were gambling.

DINING:
Pros: Cheap prices, big portions, good food. Nice wait staff.

Cons: The waitress at the Mexican restaurant was swamped the night we went, so service was pretty slow.

MISC:
Parking is fine if you park before 5pm. We got in around midnight and had to scour the lot for a spot. We got lucky and parked as someone was leaving. Park early!!

A locals type place. You have to go to the Mexican restaurant on the first floor. The servings are huge and it is so cheap you will still have money for the slots.
Friendly tables...not a flashy joint. You will NOT feel like you are in Vegas, but you can wear jeans and not feel like a slobbola.

My favorite locals casino in South shore and I try to stop by every time I'm up there. The prime rib $10 dinner is a real deal and you actually get a semi-decent cut. The sportsbook is small, but a real fun place to watch a game with some $3 drinks. Even better, try to go during a big fight night for some excitement with the local crown. The place is packed and a ton of fun.

The best place to stay in Tahoe. Close enough to the other casinos, but far enough as well. The Lakeside is the locals hangout. There is no better place to watch football then this spot. $2 beers and cheap food. The little casino upstairs is perfect, but it does lack Roulette.

If you want to have a low key experience with affordable offerings, then this is your place. My room was $60 a night on a weekend!

This place was awful.  We showed up at around 1:45 p.m.  Yes, I know that is slightly early to check in.  I understand that you may not have our room ready.  When should we come back?  2:30 p.m., you say?  Great.

So, we walk in at 2:30 p.m.  I have just spent the entire morning driving in from San Francisco.  The woman behind the counter just says, "sorry, your room isn't ready yet."  Ok, now I may have been grumpy already, but I am getting irate.

I am sorry, but is there ANOTHER room that might be ready?  I am TIRED.  I need a NAP.  Oh, I see, there is another room?  Oh, that is so nice of you.  Thank you for doing work in your computer service for one minute and finding another room for us.

The room was odd.  The curtains were not black-out, so I woke up at around 7 a.m.  The pool didn't open until 10 a.m.  The casino reeks of smoke.  The woman at breakfast forgot the orange juice, and they don't have any skim milk.

I spent NYE with M. and his 4 friends from college in one hotel room at Lakeside Inn and Casino.
The 6 of us.
Thank god the one person I hadn't met before turned out to be my new BFF.
Anyway, on background, I'm a huge snob. About everything. Spending NYE in SOUTH Tahoe in some doorman-free hotel on the side of a freeway in one room with 5 others is a first for me.
All the group e-mails leading up to this, the whole ride up to Tahoe...there was lots of "Will Beth be okay?"
Come ON. I'm not THAT bad.
I went online and checked out their site, noting that "Ron Baker" was voted Best Bartender in Tahoe. I responded to a group e-mail insisting we meet Mr. Baker. I received a response stating, "You're being such a good sport."
Jesus.
I was expecting Redneck Honeymoon and planned to find lots of fodder to relay to my equally snobby mother upon my return. None the less, come hell or high water, I was going to show everyone I can blend. I can mingle. I can wear howling wolf silhouette t-shirts with the best of 'em.
Folks, I just returned from Raffles Singapore but my new favorite hotel is the Lakeside Inn and Casino.
$2 drinks 24 hours a day. A member of our party punched a hole in the wall at 3am and security was relatively cool. The wine in the restaurant, although served LAST, was practically at cost.
Awe-some.
Sure there was a line at check-in. Perhaps the rooms smell like a dorm room mini-fridge. OK, people sat around drinking Bud Lite at 8am. But shit, people. This is South Lake Tahoe.
Lakeside is as good as this shit gets.
Making this place a gem.
Members of our party insisted upon hitting "the strip."
I ventured into the nightclub Vex and spent NYE at Harrah's. Both times, M. and I looked at each other and were like, "Wanna go back to the hotel?" It's fabulous at Lakeside. Mellow, cheap, un-crowded? Yes, yes, yes.
Plus, we were informed it's a drive from Harrah's, Harvey's, etc.
It's not.
It's 4 blocks MAX. And I, big snobby bitch, did it happily in the snow.
Why go to South Lake Tahoe AT ALL? But if you do, stay here.
One might think I'm kidding. I'm not...

PS. Breakfast costs like, a penny. However, should you chose to stray from the cheap-ass special, I'm STILL craving that breakfast panini.
One might think I'm kidding. I'm not...

Hella cheap prime rib - $10.50 for a decent cut, with a big baked potato and veggies. Note though that this deal is only available at dinner time, like after 4pm or something.  Of course, like any casino, even the dining area smells kinda like smoke but it's bearable. The first time we went over the summer we had a really nice waitress. We couldn't finish the prime rib so we brought it back to our motel and had it for lunch the next day (still good).  The second time we went our waitress was a little loopy (ex: messing up on drink orders) but she was nice. A couple of friends had the special of the evening - NY Strip Steak with crab meat on top. They were not fond of it, so it probably doesn't hurt to just stick with the good basic deals.  It's just up the street from the main drag of Stateline casinos like Harvey's and Harrahs, so it's a little further out but definitely worth the trip. I think we honestly had a better dinner here than going to Forest Buffet, and it was way cheaper!

We ended up eating breakfast and dinner here and both were pretty good.
The $3.99 breakfast included eggs, hash browns, toast and bacon.  All were pretty good although the bacon was undercooked.

My husband had the $10.99 prime rib dinner and thought it was pretty good.  The soup was excellant and the hot sour dough bread he loved.

I had the french dip sandwich and it was excellant.  Came with melted cheese and onions, which were awesome and the fries weren't bad either.

Nothing exceptional but definitely worth the price.  Clean and all the service staff were friendly.

This is what a casino would be like if you opened it up in your house. The staff was very nice and took the time to teach me how to play craps without being annoyed. Drinks are $2 (!!!). I recommend the Moose Drool beer (kind of like New Castle, but a touch lighter).

We first went to Lakeside Inn a few years ago, it's kind of a dive, the people are friendly and it's the "Local's Favorite" place - low table minimums and cheap drinks.  Pretty much all the drinks here are $2 now.  It's definitely a smoker's paradise.  If you don't want to deal with the smoke I heard Bill's has gone smoke free.  Wonder how that's working for them.  But anyway, last time we ate at the restaurant here, it was empty, there was no wait, and we had a comp'ed breakfast.  It was basically a coffee shop.  We went here for dinner this weekend cause my friend wanted Prime Rib.  The restaurant has REALLY improved the quality of the food.  I had a sirloin steak with melted goat cheese, fire roasted vegetables, and a twice baked potato.  It was a huge amount of food for $16!  My other friend had the salmon.  All of our food was great but the Prime Rib was a tad overcooked and dry.

Ghetto Superstar.  I wonder what you are.  Coming from afar.  Reaching for the stars.  Came here on the recommendation of our motel manager for a decent breakfast place.  He listed your standard American brand chains (i.e. IHOP, Denny) so we specified a place to get some local favor.  He suggested the Lakeside Inn.  The whole place is on the wee bit seedy and depressing side.  Breakfast was just okay (eggs, bacon, toast, eggs benedict, etc.), but I suppose for the price you can't really complain.

I went here with my gf a few years ago on our first trip to Tahoe.  As hotels go, we got a good price for nice place to stay.  As locations go, you could do a lot better.  The website advertises a private beach, but much like all the other hotels in South Tahoe, by private beach they mean a vouchers for a paid access beach.  Like I said, as locations go, the private beach is over 2 miles from Lakeside.  It's crowded, as the beach vendors have deals with many other hotels.  And sadly, the beach doesn't allow pets.  (Yeah, I know, Lakeside doesn't allow pets.)  If you're going to drive, just drive to Zephyr Cove.

The hotel will smell of smoke, but you're on the Nevada side of the state line.  Don't be a snob if you experience culture shock. Otherwise, its a good place rest with easy access to good inexpensive food.  There's always a little bit of wait for a table in their restaurant.

$3 breakfasts in the restaurant (small, but I order 2 for less than the price of Denny's).  The size and price of the prime rib scales to your appetite, but you honestly get what you pay for.  Drinks are dirt cheap.  The Mexican place downstairs offers (offered?) huge $7 burritos. The restaurant used to have chipotle cheeseburger quesadillas that were incredible, but it since disappeared from the menu.

This is a great hotel for the price.  We stayed here over thanksgiving holiday and really enjoyed the clean, large hotel room and the flat screen TV.  We stayed in the Glenbrook section.

We were able to stay for three days for about $200 and got a $30 credit to use (10$ a day) in the casino for dinner.

Also, the $2.99 breakfast is awesome!  I loved the whole grain pancakes in the Taverna.

I found this place on Yelp and decided to try it for a wedding we went to on 7-7-07.  Definitely a locals favorite with cheap drinks and $5 blackjack tables!  There were a lot of hipsters at the tables, in the karaoke bar etc.  The rooms were decent, safe and clean.  I would definitely stay here again.  The restaurant was ok.  Really good breakfast but yeah the prime rib was over cooked and dry.  I should have got the steak.

Warning:  the Men's restroom on the bottom floor is always flooded, I always wonder exactly what I am stepping through.   Never have been able to find another restroom in this casino.  Bummer.   I trust their cleanliness is better maintained in their preparation of the prime rib special in the restaurant.  At $8.95 a delicious meal.
