Lakeside Car Wash
CROOKS!!!! I'm sitting here right now. I came back in good faith that they changed this. 2 times paid for #1. Wax comes along with. Both times they didn't turn on. Caught them AGAIN today. Owner acts dumb. Girl at desk, vacant. Guess what, had them run it back again and they missed the wax again!!!! Do NOT throw away your money! So sad that a Burbank legend is being run into ground!!!!
I got my car washed and detailed here, and for $90, it was only "okay." I have beige cloth seats in my car that had some dirt stains, which I knew would be difficult, but I was very underwhelmed by the amount of effort they put into cleaning the stains. As a matter of fact, when I got home, I made a bucket of oxy clean solution and got the rest of the stains out myself in about 10 minutes. So...it couldn't have been that hard. Again, for $90 (plus tip!), I shouldn't have had to finish the job myself.
I moved to the valley from mid city, where my old faithful auto detailer does a great job for $50. Next time, I'll just suck it up and make the drive to the other side of the hill.
You can definitely get more bang for your buck elsewhere. Sorry, guys.
First Time and Last Time. Do NOT Go Here. Not even offered a refund for breaking my adjustment knob for my rearview mirrors. Horrible. I could go on and on in regards to how horribly this was handled, but for the sake of professionalism, I offer the owners and management (Cindy) that I will take this down once you rectify things.
All that I was offered was Krazy Glue. This is a rather small part that is now completely broken. Krazy Clue would only make matters worse by fastening all moving parts.
Did I mention that you should not go here???
Day two of posting pictures of the part Lakeside Car Wash broke.... I'll continue to do so until they rectify matters. Gotta love social media.
The exterior of my car is very dirty, so I'm grabbing a car wash. Since all the local car wash reviews are pretty pathetic I decided to come back to this place - I used to get my car washed here all the time.
I have to say that, having tried most of the car washes in town, this one still has the nicest waiting area - lots of shade, stone, plants, greenery, etc. There's a cute and comfortable indoor area that is like nothing else in town.
There's usually a resident shoe shine guy and a meager attempt at a little shop where they've long since moved the cashier.
Service is friendly and efficient. They did a great job cleaning inside and out - the dash and glass were near immaculate. The quality was what you would hope and expect from any car wash really and they delivered.
My main issue is the price! They have no basic wash that's under $10. In fact the CHEAPEST wash they have is $14 and THAT doesn't even include air freshener! You want that new-car-smell? $16.50 Combo #3 which adds "poly coat & air freshener".
ALSO: I have terrible water spots peppering my car, and the guy said they could detail it off for $90, but today they could charge me only $70 - so obviously they are willing to negotiate on the big ticket items - I'd prefer they would just list the actual price and skip the games.
So I like the place, they do a great job, but the price, for my budget, is a bit ridiculous.
Horrible customer service. Cashier refused to give me tip money back when I used my debit card to pay for the car wash, and said I would have to use their ATM, which costs $2.25 per transaction. Even though there were only six cars, I still waited almost an hour for my car to be done on a simple wash. Run away from this place.
An unfriendly looking staff where no one welcomes or says thank you. It's a "hand wash" but the guys hold brushes instead of rags. Really no better than the rolling machines that use bristles.
I thought it would be a whole lot better considering the location near the movie studios. I've never come back here again.
first yelp review ever for the worst carwash ever....
left my car for a combo wash #1.
when i came back to pick it up i noted that there were still smudges all over. this prompted me to take a closer look around the car. my right blinking light was
hanging out of the fixture, the rubber seal from my antenna was broken and
they just threw it into my trunk.
asking the cashier about it all i got was shrugging shoulders and a "What do you want
me to do?". I asked her to take some responsibility regarding the issue. She
shrugged her shoulders and answered: "Well, it's an old car".
That's stellar customer service. Thank you!
Bad management. Had a problem and the manager just waited for us to stop talking and offered nothing... No idea of why the problem happened, no "I'll find out what's going on", no "what can I do for you ."
After coming here for years I will take my car elsewhere. Totally disappointed - it's not hard to apologize and try to help a concerned customer.
Horrible place to get a car wash. I got the regular wash and I
by the time I got home (5 min drive) I saw all the stains on both the passenger and drivers side that made the wash look half done. If you want to get a good car wash Save your money and go elsewhere. This place sucks!
Fast Service. I got the hand wax for a discount as their 'special' for the day. The employees did a pretty decent job. I saw a few missed spots of dead bug still in the front hood but I guess it's easy to miss that when it's going through the hand wash portion of it.
They have a check in offer that I wish I had seen before i arrived, but I guess I can use it for next time. Inside was vacuumed very well, and didn't see careless spots on the cars or window.
The sunroof window could have been wiped better, but again, easy to miss unless you're standing on top of the car. (Maybe i'm just forgiving. )
but the guy who was doing the hand wax was definitely was working up a sweat cleaning my car, and I tipped him accordingly.
Minus one star for the things I mentioned above, and when I arrived to the cashier, I wasn't acknowledge for a good 30 seconds. She was doing something with her paperwork, but didn't acknowledge me or even mention that she'll be just a minute.
In short, i'll return for sure, and will use that check in deal next time.
This place is great takes about 30 minutes and the guys are very detailed with the wash and detail...they see and get everything. This is my first time here and I will absolutely come back. The price is moderate but for what you pay they exceed your expectations great place
Two stars because their machines can clean. I only go because it is close to my house but every time I regret it. First it is more expensive than most places but they also never wipe down the seats. Imagine getting a clean car and then get in in it and seeing a dirty seat. Why would a business do that? It is just a bad move don't u want happy people leaving ur wash? They also never ever clean ashtrays. Simply unprofessional.
I've come here twice and each time I've had a different experience. The first time I came, I was very satisfied with my car wash. It took them a while but I was happy to wait as long as the job was thorough. The second time was horrible. I still have spots on my car. Also, the staff is not entirely welcoming. Definitely a bit of a cold feel here. I wish I would've gotten the name of the person who cleaned my car. He hardly touched my car. I feel like I could've done a better job myself at home. Even though this is the closest car wash to me, I don't think I'll be returning any time soon.
Worst carwash ever. Paid $20 to leave with water spots all over the car. The back windshield looks as if it was wiped with the wettest, dirtiest rag they could find. The front windshield has three distinct streaks where he wiped and a layer of dirt remains as well as several other spots I pointed out. The guy just shrugged his shoulders pretends not to understand me and walks away. I won't ever be back.
I really like this car wash. They're always nice & do a good job. The location is great and the greeters, hand dryers & reception girls are always friendly. One time I had a window smashed the night before and they vacuumed all the glass up just for a tip. They're never pushy about getting more done and always let me know when there's a wax special.
Went to Lakeside Car Wash for the first time in a long time this morning, and this will be my last visit. I don't know when management changed, but it changed for the worse. On arriival I asked for the #1 car wash (the works for basic washes) and the manager gives me the full-court press to upgrade to a $250 detail job (I had neither the time nor the money in my pocket).
As this was happening one of his employees is trying to remove my antenna with a set of metal pliers. I didn't stop him in time: I now have teeth marks and the antenna remains firmly in place (I demonstrated its flexibility and that it was fine to go through the wash).
I asked the manager that they guys pays special attention to bird droppings and brake dust on the wheels.
If I'm fair, the cashier was quite friendly and professional. If only she was the person washing cars....
To my surprise, my SUV was done very quickly. As I was in a hurry, I handed the employee a $5 tip (getting nothing but a grunt from him in return), jumped in the SUV, and went home. And that's when I noticed what didn't happen. The dust on my dash was still there, save a few wet swirl marks where he pretended to wipe it down. NO EFFORT was made on the interior. Same for the wheels.
Yes, it is my fault for not inspecting before I left -- but in the past, one never had to do that as the employees took pride in the job they did. My cynical side tells me that the manager encouraged his employees to do the bare minimum, hoping that what did happen would: that I would simply dirve off without checking their work.
It's a shame, really. In these bad economic times to have a once-proud business owned and staffed by employees who care so little. Come to think of it, that explains why there was such a small crowd on a Saturday morning; in the past, Saturdays were always very busy.
Avoid this car wash. Tell your friends to avoid -- you'd be doing them a favor.
If possible, I would give this half a star. I should have known when it was completely deserted after work, a time when every other carwash in L.A. is bumping. This place needs updated everything, training in customer service and people who actually care. The wait area smelled of urine and cigarettes. The whole place smells like an ashtray. My car was barebly clean, some plastic pieces were broken in the backseat and yes, you guessed it, smelled like smoke. Last visit and wanted to warn others. Unless you see it's under new management. Stay away!
I wanted to go to my favorite Car wash place off of Glenoaks Blvd. in Burbank after leaving my moms house, but they were sooo crowded. I live in Hollywood so I decided to try this place since it was empty and my car needed a wash. I pulled in and no one was trying to help me, even though the place was empty, and everyone was just standing around like idiots. Finally someone helped me. They gave me a ticket, and I went to pay, and the lady at the register has a stupid look on her face and was rude! They definitely don't know anything about customer service, and I won't be coming back here.
Horrible customer service. The cashier had a highly toxic attitude that clearly left everyone in line in a worse attitude then when they arrived. She was disrespectful and rude. I watched her change the mood of 3 customers and myself just by her nasty attitude.
I can get a car wash at one of a dozen places, what makes me come back is good customer service. I refuse to give my money to someone who treats me like shit.
I guarantee if they replaced that women with the horrible attitude they would have more return business.
I forgot to look on here before repeating the same mistake. The wash was okay but the interiors needed some TLC. As a pet owner, you need to have your carpets vacuumed. They didn't even do the trunk. AND they moved my seat back (these little guys don't need to drive it that far).
Should've known, on a Saturday afternoon, if the car wash is empty--it's a bad sign.
There are better options out there. Read more
So, I've avoided writing reviews of car wash joints, largely because I've yet to find anything remotely resembling a winner... and I don't really enjoy writing bad reviews...
So, yesterday, May 10, I was filling up at my Chevron station, and grousing to myself how filthy my windows were on the car. I looked up and saw Lakeside and said to myself, "Self, you haven't been there in a long time..." and replied, "Yes, Self, but l recall you were disappointed last time..." "Ah, Self, you're correct. Well, I will just get the cheap-o wash, so they clean my windows..." "Good luck..."
It was about 4:15 or so... and they weren't busy, so, I decided to give it a go... The "manager" successfully up-sold me to the wash-and-wax... "It's a special today... $70"... "but for you, $50." "Okay... I don't need them to do anything to the trunk and I don't need the interior detailed... but make sure the glass in cleaned..." "Yes, OK..." "I mean it - just dust off dash, but really clean the glass..." "It looks new, have you had the clay wax done?... It takes about an hour..." "No, I don't have that kinda time... and I really don't have the 30 minutes for this... but just make sure the glass is cleaned...." "OK"
So, I go sit in the perilous plastic chairs that are so common in these joints... and start reading my book. before long, I see my car swing out of the wash bays and they begin the traditional "wipe down"... before long, they whistle for me to go... "Hmphf... Self, that didn't seem to take very long..." "Oh well, let's get outta here..."
I tip the guys and head out... and as soon as the sun starts hitting the glass, it's filthy - smeared, worse then before... I couldn't believe it... I debated Self some more, then turned around and went back, steamed.
I told "manager" I was hopping mad... that they certainly didn't seem to "wax" the car, and they couldn't even clean the glass?! They assured me that they did wax - that was the spray bottle stuff - but acknowledged that they didn't clean the glass well. I told them I wanted a refund and they jumped to fix the issue.
Seriously? While the two guys created a frenzy of activity, the guy outside was really randomly wiping glass with dry rag... They guy inside was spraying glass cleaner, smearing it around with his hand, and then wiping with the dirty cloth. No wonder...
I finally left, still irritated, no refund. When I parked at the market in full sunlight, I was able to see that not only was the glass smeared, but "wax" was also smeared all over the sides of the car... it was a disaster.
Needless to say, I will NEVER return. I guess they got $50 bucks out of me, but never, ever, another penny.
(By the way, it was apparent from changes in decor, that there is new management/owner from my last visit a number of years ago...)
If you've managed to read this far, it will not surprise you how I will finish this review:
Do not go here if you need a car wash. You will have better results if you drive over to Griffith Park and throw dirt and horse dung at your car... Really. I'm certain.
Note to management:
Don't hard-sell a customer in a rush on a 'complete interior detail finished in 1 hour' when they ask for a regular wash and shampooed mats only to send them off with a half-assed exterior wash and the interior of their vehicle untouched! If I wanted a simple rinse, I could have taken a hose to it myself. Additionally, don't leave the customer's car parked on the other side of the business while they wait for over an hour to get your 'great deal,' pay $80.00 and have no clue that you've abandoned work on their vehicle after a 10 minute drive-thru caliber job. Oh, and thanks for not telling me my car was ready after you finished in 10 minutes--- I greatly appreciate scouring the grounds of your business only to realize that you didn't do a damn thing. Most of all, thanks so much for your generosity in not refunding $14.00 for the inconvenience. Sure was nice of you to offer me $5.00 off should I decide to gamble on you again.
Get a clue...and some class.
Don't set foot here.
Just...don't go. Just trust Yelp, and skip it. I foolishly read all of the awful reviews and STILL decided to give this place a shot because it is across the street from my work and I thought...how bad can it be? It's always so busy!
BEWARE- it really is THAT bad.
I'm not a big 'car' person but I like a shiny car as much as the next person. There were water spots all over my car, a layer of dust all over the car, and bird poop they didn't even bother washing off the passenger side door. On top of a very disappointing car wash- they lost my house keys!!! I handed them my keys all together and when I returned they only had my car keys. The cashier was rude when I returned to inquire about if she had them, even though I was polite about them losing them. Now I've got a dirty car and an extra trip to the hardware store to get my keys replaced. Thanks for nothing.
Back to Suren's for me...Never. Again. Lakeside.
OMG what a disappointment, I knew the previous owners, Jessie and Dick and when Dick died his wife sold the place. In its day it was one of the best, today it has the feel and filth of some ghetto car wash. The place is filthy, not maintained at all as it was when The Duffy's owned it. Knowing Dick and his attitude he would be pissed to see what this bunch has done to this once gem location.
The car wash tunnel you cant see your car going through, I am sure that this on purpose. The cashier? LMAO totally hates her job, there is a foreign language spoken and there may lie the problem.....It is also a funny hustle on how they arrange there price signs to I am sure screw us the customers. What a shame from the glory days to what we have now. I will never go back again, never ever, we are using a mobile service. Just plain nasty

Anyone saying anything good about this place has to be a friend or relative. Almost three hundred dollars for a detail? RIP OFF! It is almost laughable to see some of these comments, this place it terrible! Yelp might want to see from where these comments come from, such as the lap top at the ' car wash ' LMAO!
(4/12/14) If I could give 0 stars I would. By far the most disappointing experience at a car wash ever. I wash my car weekly down in lake forest on my way home but didn't get the chance so I decided to go off a friends recommendation. I paid for the combo #1 (wax, tire dressing, air freshener, polish).. What did I get?? A filthy, unwaxed, unwashed, unpolished, unscented, un-tire dressed car. I had to ask twice to have them rewash the car (they never did). They just told their labor guy who didn't understand a word I was saying to just do the whole thing by hand. THE ENTIRE CAR was still dirty as if never seen water or soap all week. I spent an hour with this poor kid with a rag in the lot just to get the dirt off. Do yourself a favor....DO NOT COME HERE!!!
If you're torn about getting a car wash, feeling like, "Hm, I need a wash, but I'd like to keep about half of the filth," then this place is for you. After being "vacuumed", my car was still visibly full of dirt. The manager's response: "If I'd known how dirty your car was, I would have charged you more." It's sad that such a cool, well-preserved mid-century building houses such an indifferent business.
Didn't mean to update this one - don't know how to delete it on mobile - sorry.
Now, it's a below average wash where the "write-up" guys are all about "up-selling" their services, ie., "If you (wax, detail, whatever) today, I'll give you a special price." I say, "No thanks." Read more
Horrible, I will never come here again. Extremely slow, I would rather drive all the way to magnolia car wash Instead of right down the street to this place. Magnolia does a much better job and in half the time. They couldn't even find the keys for the car when they where sitting right on the drivers seat. Save your money go some place else.
I work around the corner from this place, and have liked it enough to keep going back for a couple of years, but will not be back again. The short story is, got my car washed yesterday, just a basic wash inside and out ($15) and when I got back to my apartment last night I reached instinctively for the space in the dashboard that perfectly fits the key card which lets me into the garage, and it's nowhere to be seen. And to clarify, it doesn't look like a piece of scrap paper, it is a heavy duty plastic magnetic key card that was tucked neatly into the dash, where it has always remained after at least 15 washes at this very establishment. So I had to pay $8 for a night in my own parking garage. That's ok, I thought, these guys will surely right their wrong.
Came back here first thing this morning, and the guys tell me they will 'look around for it' (yeah right) and then went back at lunch to speak with the manager, who says they can't accept responsibility for anything unless you notice it before you leave. So, basically, clean out your car yourself before turning it over to these guys, which kind of defies at least half of the point of taking it to the car wash in the first place.
I thought at least they would offer me a refund for the car wash, or maybe a voucher for the next one, but no. A $15 car wash just cost me over $50 including tip, just because I was silly enough to think they could notice the difference between trash and a parking garage key card. And also for thinking that they would correct their mistake.
Learned my lesson. It's a shame.
