Lakeland is the perfect place for a medium size group (10 ppl) and everyone are budget conscious. we stayed here for a weekend with 9 adults and 7 children. there were more than enough bed for everybody. The decors are old cabin style, the place is a bit old but clean.
the big plus is the proximity to everything, safeway, shops.
the private beach was the best. i went out there for a short walk at the middle of the night. the next day, the kids went and build a huge snowman.
The acomodations are BEAUTIFUL and immaculate. We got a condo that said it sleeps 6 but we could probably fit 10 people comfortably. There was a flat screen TV in the living room, bedroom and a kitchen complete with all utensils, dishes, pots and pans! No dish soap or cooking oil though. We got the Heavenly 2 day ski and stay package. The lift tickets came out to about $120 for two days... It's $160 for the same thing at Heavenly. Minus 1 star because they didn't get our lift tickets until 11am.
Gotta love the free shuttle service to the mountain, casinos, err essentially anywhere within 5 miles. No excuse to be sober people!! We asked the driver to take us to KFC, wait for our order and then hop back on. The shuttle runs from 8am-11pm. I've gotta say, this place has the best bang for your buck.

My husband and I chose Lakeland Village as the place for us and our guests to stay during the wedding weekend, and it was definitely the right choice! They gave us a nice group discount and a few of us even got upgraded to nicer rooms once we arrived.
We were very happy with the wide variety of room and townhome choices. We had a few friends who came out with kids, parents, etc so the townhomes were perfect for them. The location was fantastic and it was great being right on Lake Tahoe. The free shuttle also can't be beat! I actually took it over to the wedding dressed in my wedding dress!
My only complaint was that just a few days after we set up our group with them, a corporate event booked up all of the smallest/cheapest rooms. I was pretty unhappy as they did not give us any warning and it left all of the singles and couples who wanted those rooms in the lurch and they had to spend more money or stay elsewhere.
However, everything else was really great and I did not hear any complaints from any of our guests who stayed there. My husband and I decided to stay an extra night and the guy at the desk was extremely helpful. Our room was already booked for that night, but he spent a significant amount of time switching things around so that we could remain in the same room that night at our discounted rate. I would definitely recommend Lakeland Village as a place to stay and also as a place for a large group.
I knew I had to give this place five stars the minute my friend decided to bake a cake on a whim and freakn' found an electric beater in the cupboard! WTH!? I was sold.
You're not as amused, eh? Okay. Well, I thought it was cool.
The cabin was very spacious. My friends and I were a big group of twelve and we were all able to have our own beds; more than half of us were couples, but still, there were six twin beds and two queens. There were also three bathrooms (bring your own matches) and a small kitchen. The cabin was three stories and many of the rooms had TV's (one even had a plasma).
The cabin had all the amenities of a hotel, but the privacy of a personal home. There is a large pool and jacuzzi on site; I hear it's a great place to unwind after a day of snowboarding. And, I don't know if they serve it all the time, but we also had free breakfast both days we were there; it's nothing more than bagels, muffins, and some cereal, but it's F-R-E-E!
What else, what else. Basic cable was free. There was a fireplace, balcony, and an outdoor closet for the snowboards. Safeway is only a short walking distance away and there is a fantastic shuttle service that takes you to and from the cabin to the casinos or ski resort (Heavenly).
Best of all though, the grand total for our three day, two nights stay was only $50 per person! Life is good.

My second stay at Lakeland Resort and I am still in love with the place!!
Even though we are in a recession, Lakeland's accommodations made my friends and I feel like kings! Complimentary shuttle rides (Thanks Cindy!) to Heavenly and Casinos, free breakfast, jacuzzi and heated pool, and all the amenities of a house in the town houses that fit 12 of my buddies.
I'm definitely impressed and would love to come back again. Also, the customer service was impeccable they let us check out late until 3pm with no extra charge.
Thank you Lakeland! :D

Second time here and as always, great stay.
Came here for my birthday weekend and booked 8+ beds for 10+ people. I felt like a VIP here. Free breakfast in the morning and FREE SHUTTLE in the Tahoe area.
NO MORE DRUNK DRIVING AFTER LOSING AT THE CASINOS!
Stayed here two nights, very comfortable. Location was great, next to a supermarket and 10 min from Nevada.
Kinda pricey, but if you have enough friends, go for it.
We did a late night swim in 30 degree weather. Their pool was heated so we just jumped in. The hot tub was perfect after boarding.
Kitchen, 3 bathrooms and plenty of seating equals a great birthday weekend.
Planning to come back in the summer when it is 90 degree weather.

For my first trip to South lake Tahoe, I was very pleased with my hotel/resort. The rooms in the main lodge are big and spacious with a kitchenette, gas fireplace, and balcony. I specifically chose Lakeland for the fireplace and every second I was in the hotel, I had it on so I could watch it and the snow outside simultaneously.
Aside from that fantastic feature, I was probably most pleased with the complimentary shuttle service. It was always available when I needed it and I didn't have to wait very long for to be either dropped off or picked up wherever I was.
Overall, I would definitely return and I highly recommend for those who want to stay a stone's throw from awesome Lake Tahoe.
I have stayed here a total of 2 times, one time I rented a condo, the other was a room stay. Both experiences were more than I expected. The prices were ridiculously good considering the time of year and location. It is a hopo skip and jump away from heavenly, right across the street from safeway in SLT.
Just remember you may pay a bunch the first time, but after that, they email you every other month with some pretty good half off deals, they also take triple A and some other discounts, don't be afraid to ask. I'm a college student and I was able to afford staying here.
I just got back after a wonderful NY trip away from SF with my fiance, and we both would spend another vacation at Lakeland Village anytime.
We stayed in a Deluxe King Studio, which had a little kitchen (including dishwasher), a table (perfect for eating, and may domino matches), various kitchen utensils, and a cute gas fireplace that heated up the room. The bathroom was fine, nothing spectacular, but then again, I wasn't paying Sofitel prices.
LV is smack in the middle of South Lake Tahoe, on the main road, and the resort has a shuttle that takes residents just about anywhere. My fiance was able to park the car in the garage, and not have to drive again until we left. We took the shuttle to Heavenly each day we went snowboarding, and never waited more than 15 minutes for a shuttle to pick us up. Space in the hot tub is a bit tight after a day of snowboarding, but fortunately, LV has two hot tubs so we just went to the other one near the lake.
The only complaint I would have is that the walls/ceilings are a bit thin, and we had a rather loud upstairs neighbor. But that really isn't LV's fault so Five whole hearted stars. :o)
this place is awesome! me and my cousins just got back from Tahoe and this is the place to stay if you have big groups! we had 11 people and not one person had to sleep on the ground, they had enough beds in the condo for us.
it is about 20 min drive to Sierra or 5 min drive to Heavenly. Harrahs buffet ! heck yea only a couple min from here.
lakeland came with everything ... there was 2 bathrooms we dubbed one bathroom the poopie room i mean 11 people you need to have one poopie room ( dont forget the air freshener) 2 bed rooms, living room, kitchen, dinning room, and a loft with a couple of bunk beds.
- sorry i cant give you a price on the condo, my cousin got the spot for free from her old boss.

Stayed here with Carol Y, Jen L, Pete L, David L and the list goes on. I was very surprised at how spacious and inexpensive it was to stay here. We came here with 5 couples and 3 singles and each one of us got our own bed! (Couples shared but still had enough beds for each single to have their own) We stayed in one of the townhouses, which had 2 levels and a loft. Three bathrooms definitely helps when there are so many people. They provide towels, linens, toiletries and basic things like dish soap and paper towels, however I'm sure that is independent of the owner since they are each individually owned. They don't have condiments like some cabins do, so if you plan on cooking, bring some! If you forget, there's a Safeway like across the street so do your shopping there and save room in the car! The kitchen was pretty standard, wasn't super big, but was enough for maybe 2-3 people to be in there at once. The hot water ran out after a while, but that happens a lot in Tahoe so I'm not complaining.
I liked the fact that there was a ski closet outside for your wet things, although we did not use it, it was nice to have. The shuttle service is freaking AWESOME. We barely touched our cars the entire weekend. We took the shuttle to the casinos and to Heavenly. They even offered to stop somewhere and wait for us, but we felt bad. Be sure to tip your drivers, they're so awesome!
The only thing I didn't like was the fact that I somehow got a itchy rash on my neck from sleeping in the bed. My skin is allergic to certain detergents so that may have been the case, especially pure bleach.
I can't wait to come back again! Next time, I hope we have a view, that would be awesome! Not complaining if we don't though, it's still nice!

This was a great (and lucky) find. Booked a 1BR condo on hotwire for about $160 a night over a peak-season ski weekend. It was really nice to spread out after staying in a bunch of tiny hotel rooms with four guys. Frankly, I wish we had stayed there the whole trip.
The room came with a full kitchen, seperate bedroom with a king size bed, a pull-out couch, and gas fireplace.
KFC & the liquor store were right across the street so we had a Fried Chicken and 40's night before heading down to the jacuzzi.

The Good:
:: location. right next door to a drugstore, heidi's restaurant, bars, and more!
:: great shuttle service
:: very very close to slopes
:: very roomy studio condo. they were smart and utilized stowaway furniture
:: gas fireplace was easy to use and warmed room up quickly
:: place was at a pretty constant temperature without having to turn on the heater
:: king-sized bed. nice!
:: kitchenette had everything i needed, including pots, pans, utensils, cups, and more
:: service was really nice and helpful
:: free continental breakfast
:: free coffee in lobby
:: they offer slightly discounted lift tickets at the front desk
The Bad:
:: refrigerator was really tiny but it was for a kitchenette and not a full-sized kitchen. the freezer portion was super tiny and could only fit a small frozen pizza
:: insufficient garage parking. we had to park outside, and it snowed a good 3 feet, rendering our car useless until we shoveled snow out of the way. on your vacation, you do not want to have to shovel anything
:: toilet flushed horribly. we are talking super super super slowly, then it took forever to stop running so you could flush it again
The Ugly:
:: none.
Would I go back? I would have to say yes.
This place is IN.
we stayed in condos there in sept. the condos were cool. they come with pretty nice amenities. flat screen tvs, dishwasher, fully stocked kitchen area and supplies. anyways, another bonus is they have a complimentary shuttle. if you don't want to take the shuttle, you can pretty much walk anywhere because it is on the main strip pretty close to everything. there is a safeway right down the street.
lakeland village has a beach area, tennis courts, pier, and workout room too. it can be a little pricey for condos but they do have specials sometimes. you can get a bunch of people and stay easily in one of the 2 bedroom condos with a loft area with beds. then the price is not so bad per person. also. the concierge and front desk people were helpful and friendly. i would stay there again.
Heads and shoulders above where we staying in SLT last time! Big room, pretty clean. But the real winner is the facilities and the private beach. Nice little pier and pools and hot tub. Great view of the sunset. Pretty close to things, but somewhat of a long walk to the casinos. They have have free shuttle though and you can take the local transit bus too. Room was a little bit long in the tooth (ie, the TV didnt't work) but, heck, who is here to watch TV anyway?

If you and a small group of your friends are looking for a condo-like experience for an overnighter (most condos/house rentals require a 2 night stay) in South Lake Tahoe, I'd recommend staying at Lakeland Village in their studio loft or 1 br loft. You'll have plenty of space to spread out and relax after a long day on the slopes. Each room comes with a full kitchen, fireplace, and TV/DVD/VCR. The location is close to all the amenities (including Heavenly) in South Lake. Plus they offer a free shuttle service on demand to the casinos, grocery store, or wherever else you wish to go in the area.
Bonus: You save ~$25 a night if you have a AAA card.

I stayed in the Lakeland Village condos with a bunch of my friends, and the condos were okay. Because it was President's Day weekend, it was a bit pricey but the condos are actually quite spacious with plenty of seating for people during meal times. I was a bit disappointed by how stocked the kitchens were - we unfortunately thought they would have foil and saran wrap...and they didn't, and the kitchens are stocked with some pretty dull knives. The furnishings in the condos are a little old, but everything was fine.
In terms of facilities, the complimentary shuttle is great, though it can take a while during really busy times. The firewood is a bit of a rip-off ($6 for a tiny bundle!), but how can you go skiing without a fire??? The hot tub is on the small side but it does the trick. There's a complimentary continental brekfast, but I never made it. :-)
Oh, did we spend a cold night here. I could hear the heating working overtime, but boy was it cold. We had to pile on so many blankets that we could not move!
The place itself is decent. We had a townhome that we rented for the weekend. There were three bedrooms plus a loft space, 2 baths, a decent kitchen, dining room, and family room, complete with TV. There is easy shuttle service to Heavenly. Continental breakfast was nothing special, but it was filling.
Can't really comment on value, as I did not pay. :)
We usually stay here when we go to SLT. We've stayed in cabins and hotels before, but this place is sooo much better. It's great for a big group of friends or for family trips. I've been here in the summer and in the winter, and I would have to say that winters here are the best. The shuttle service is convenient and the drivers are really nice. The rooms are clean and there's just so much space - whether you're in a one or two bedroom loft.

I wish I had something nice to say about this placed based on me being a guest. But I don't. I have stayed here once but it was like 15 years ago. I come here for the beach. Thats right I'm a beach squatter. Easy parking and way less people than other beaches make this the quick and easy choice. There are better beaches for sure but this is just so goddamn easy it's hard to pass up.

Very Rarely do I assign a 5 star rating, but this place deserves it mainly because of the price and what you get. We had a two bedroom condo that sleeps six. We could have easily slept 8 to 10. The place was super clean and very spacious. The shuttle service was promt and took us anywhere we wanted to go. The kitchen was a little smalll, but did the trick which save us more money by eating there. The beach is a 2-3 minute walk and very private with minimal people. We will most certainley com back to this nice little GEM.
this year is our 3rd year staying here. we only go in the summer with a child, who is now 6. Lakeland has the family thing down. Enclosed community with private beach access, all homes and lodge are close to the beach and safeway. Now, if it's the cabin feel you're going after this isn't the spot. BUT there is the beach and swimable waters with every kind of water sport, ride, kayak, and air-filled floatie of all sizes that you can think of. The location is 1 mile from Heavenly village and close to ice cream, bicycling, library, gondola ride, hiking and much more. The price is for location, convenience and access to pure fun. We love it! Our kid has learned to swim and dive there, play ping pong and more. If you are looking for a spot for a family reunion or need a contained, safe environment for kids...this is it.
I stay here almost every Heavenly trip, because it's cheap for a large condo, super close to Heavenly, and almost always has vacancies. It's great. We get the 1 bedroom 1 loft most of the time, which gives us a ton of space. You just know that the college dorm ski trips totally get places like this where they can pay $250/night and stuff 15-20 people in there. It's great too since they have a fireplace, a full kitchen, TV/DVD/VCR, basically all you need to have a rocking good ski trip. I think there's also a complimentary breakfast, but I leave too early for Heavenly to stick around for it. There's also a hot tub somewhere, but between snowboarding and dinner and sleep, I have no time for anything else. I'm sure other people would love it though. Anyway, overall this place is pretty sweet. Highly recommended.
Stayed here this past weekend with my boyfriend and his fam. We had a great time and there was lots of room in the cabin for all of us to sleep and relax comfortably. I was very impressed with the abundance of beds and rooms. I wasn't so impressed with a few things. First off, the recliner chairs did not recline. We even called in maintenance people to get them to work, and they couldn't figure it out. Second, when we got there, the carpet was all wet and two of the stove burners were broken. It just seemed that they didn't leave much time in between guests to clean up and make sure everything was in working order. Third, I didn't get a good night sleep once because the walls and ceilings were SOO thin. I picked a bedroom on the bottom floor thinking that we would be away from all the noise. But no, we could hear everyone talking and the floor above us would creak everytime someone walked by. It woke me up like a million times. LOL. Anyway, with all my bitching, the resort was really pretty and in a great location. Their private beach is beautiful and we enjoyed the pool and hottub. I also liked how there were plenty of restaurants and stores nearby. I just think some of the appliances and furnishings need to be updated. But overall, it was a great trip!
This place is great. I came here off season and booked the 1BR Loft for 2 for 167 a night (total). We had so much room its unbelievable. I had garage parking, a fully equipped kitchen (perfect for heating up that Ikead's apple cobbler and having it with vanilla icecream) and 2 bedrooms with separate baths. It is clean, has a fireplace, a terrace with a grill - I will definitely keep this place in mind when I come back with a whole group of people. Also, its walking distance from Heidi's pancake house :)
