Such a beautiful place to go and visit or go camping. I've been on a camping trip here with my family and had a blast. The lake is huge and they have an area that is great for jumping in and taking a swim on the days where the heat is bearing down on you.
If you have a boat there is some really good salmon fishing going on out there this year. If not there is a another little lake about 10 minutes away, Fish Lake, where you can fish from the dock for trout and perch.
Another great thing about this state park is that, as I mentioned in the last statement, you are close to a lot of other attractions and trails to hike. So you can camp here and hike a lot of great trails and fish some fun spots.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jul 2, 2023
Awesome Campground!
One of the biggest concerns is the cleanliness of the toilets and these are well maintained!
Water facilities and the classes for the kids keep them entertained during the camping.
Parking is 2 per site but there is plenty of off-site parking for more cars. You need to pay $10 per extra car.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jan 16, 2023
We went to Lake Wenatchee State Park for camping on the Memorial Day weekend. The weather was cloudy, rainy, windy, and cold. Camping with family and friends was fun and the park was pretty overall.
Campgrounds: the camp sites are pretty well spread out but they are wide open. My preference is for each site to have some kind of separation by trees and bushes for a bit of privacy.
Facilities: there are several bathroom buildings scattered around the park. It was weird only one of those facilities had warm water running. All other bathrooms had icy cold water.
Lake Wenatchee: a classic PNW lake with dramatic sceneries especially when the weather is windy and cloudy. I do not know if it is always windy here but during our camping trip, it was super windy. We had brought our stand up paddle boards but it was too windy (and COLD) to use them. We did see that there was a canoe/SUP rental popup but there were only a couple of brave folks in the water. Nonetheless, a beautiful lake indeed. Many photographic opportunities just present themselves so bring your DSLRs (or mirrorless cameras, I guess)!
Fun factor: Leavenworth is only 10 minutes away and it was really convenient to check out fun stores and cool restaurants during the trip. There is also Leavenworth Zip-lining nearby, which was fantastic. There are hiking trails around the park and they were easy, fun, and scenic.
We are looking forward to returning when it is warmer and less windy.Helpful 0Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 1 - Craig B.Olympia, WA6271661Jun 29, 2022
My wife and I explored Lake Wenatchee State Park on a beautiful weekend afternoon, one that was threatening rain, and in fact did drizzle in our drive to the lake, but was partly sunny and cleared up throughout our time at the park. This made for a great afternoon and successfully scared off any crowds. So far our time in the Leavenworth area has not been very crowdy in any of the prime nature areas. We are either here a during a lull in tourist season or there are so many great spots to check out in this state that no one area is too crowded. That last point is yet to be determined as we continue our adventure.
I took the opportunity to toss in a small spoon to hopefully catch a salmon or bass but didn't have much luck. Luck is the word of emphasis here because I didn't know the depth of the lake near the state park, which was most likely shallow, I didn't know what fish might bite, nor did I even know what types of fish were in the lake. The only information I had to go on was that fishing the Wenatchee River, which flows through the state park, was not allowed.
After not catching anything and enjoying the lake and forest beauty, I decided to put the paddleboard in the water. We put the board in the water near the boat launch and I was off. Before I could stand up, I had to get my bearing straight and wait for the numbness in my feet to dissipate. The lake water is one of the coldest I have boarded. While I was out on the lake I thought to myself that if I fell in, I would've jumped back on the board in record time to escape the water. Fortunately, I didn't fall in, and we drove back home after strapping the board to the truck.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Rachael K.Las Vegas, NV934546May 28, 2022
We came up in may and it was honestly gorgeous! We ate a little breakfast at squirrel tree which was awesome and then drove up to lake Wenatchee took some pictures because it was still early in the season there was nobody there Just a few bike riders. It was clean and scenic, bathrooms were clean too.

Did a quick drive through of the park and walked around for half an hour with a friend. We had to get out of dodge because of the mosquito attack that seemed to come out of nowhere.
Really lovely area but wouldn't want to camp here.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Janaki V.Kirkland, WA0119167Jun 15, 2021
Truly lovely and awe inspiring nature paradise a detour one should make on the way to Leavenworth. Clean washrooms available. RV trailer park for those so inclined. Picnic tables near the beach. River trail is a 10 mins to the Lake. Avoid walking through the trailer park to carpark it's a maze!

This is our second year staying in the park and it's our favorite campground to visit. Each campsite is well laid out and the facilities (bathroom and pay showers) are within easy walking distance for the entire park. There's also a ton of things to do ranging from water sports, bike riding to horse shoes. Two pointers. Reserve early do grab the best spots and if you're visiting in June, bring a ton of mosquito repellent or you'll be eaten alive.

What a great park! Flat spots to park and camp; beautiful lake nearby with nice trails. Quiet at night. Picnic tables and fire rings at all spots.

Short trek to the lake from parking, although spaces can be limited if busy with visitors

No changes to my review but I did want to clarify a few things since apparently, the "internet police" (just some random clown) felt compelled to send me a private message reprimanding me of my "irresponsible behavior" when it came to my dog being off-leash. Suffice it to say, he's never met my dog and I don't really care about his opinion but I did want to clarify a few things:
1. My dog is well trained and is under voice control.
2. My dog is well behaved, has zero aggression and is an extremely passive and loving animal (she's literally frightened by her own shadow).
3. My dog does not chase animals or other humans.
4. My dog will not venture more than a few yards from myself, my wife or my daughters.
5. My dog doesn't really bark.
6. We pick up EVERYTHING and are very conscious about the damages dogs can do to trails, brush, etc.
So if your vision of an off-leash dog at a campsite is it running around rampant with no owners, no leash, barking, biting and otherwise trashing a campsite disrupting all of it's occupants; Dottie is NOT YOUR DOG. Maybe this guys ill trained mutts behave this way but mine sure doesn't. We'll continue to camp and hike with our dog, off her leash, respecting and understanding our environment and enjoying it thoroughly.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0May 4, 2015Previous reviewLarge campsite (north entrance), no clear view of the water (although once we walked down it was glorious) and strict dog leash rules. I'm not sure if it was the weekend of annoying tattle-tale campers or if it's usually just extremely strict but to drive almost 3 hours to "get-away" only to have your 70lb dog on a 10 foot leash the entire time is absurd. 30 minutes into unpacking we have a campsite manager come to us with "complaints" of our dog being off leash. It sounded like there were complaints but we can't be sure. That + mosquitoes galore = not going back.
