I never thought of sex here, especially not on ladies day (perhaps men's days are different?) I used to visit with my mom and sister. Senior citizens are common.

I agree you have to visit once to get the full effect. It's like going back in time. Nothing has changed since the 50's. It's basic without any bells or whistles. The whirlpool in the corner of the big tile room is short of boiling. I can only manage a few minutes before I nearly pass out. The sauna has a dry heat that will make you feel like a turkey in an oven. I highly recommend laying down. HOT! The steam room is more manageable (and usually more crowded).

The white tile benches in the big room are great for taking a snooze if you can tune everything else out. Not for the modest though, as they only give you a washcloth to drape yourself with inside the bath section (a sheet for the locker room area)

If you need a total-body exfoliation by a fleshy, voluptuous scrubber this is the place. You will see all body types here so come with an open mind. The place smells like Eucalyptus; You won't be able to get it out of your nose for a week. Bring money for lunch in the cafe to get the full toga experience. Call before as they only offer "Ladies Day" one or two days a week.

Best time to go: In the middle of winter when you cannot seem to get warm.

The house screams sex, and I mean that in the creepiest way possible... You have to come in here at least once. It is a bathing experience that only the 1970's could understand. I say this because you can tell that this bath house was the sexy place to be in the 1970's...

A little sleazy cool, Lake Steam Baths looks oddly peculiar on the outside, which is situated smack on Colfax Avenue, one of Denver's creepiest streets.  One might think that this building holds just an old sign with nothing inside, but truth be told, this bath house is still steamin' and has been steamin' and run by the same family since 1927, which still seems kind of creepy to me, but something is keeping them alive and popping.

Don't get any ideas; I know what you are all thinking... None of that can go on here; well at least none of that with the opposite sex, there are separate men's days and ladies days...  

Once you pay the low $14 entrance fee, a soap scrub is only an additional $8.00 and a massage is only $30.00 for an entire hour.  

The owner looks at his bath house as a way to exercise your heart and body through detoxification, cleansing, and relaxation and you can go back and fourth to the whirlpool, sauna, steam room, and showers as many times as your heart can take.  You can even enjoy a meal here, because the bath house offers deli style meals in their restaurant.

It would be ideal to describe this local flavor business as a spa, but it is nothing like a relaxing spa with soft fluffy music and rich people with their long French Manicure toe nails... People come here to bath...Period. So all expectations of lavish spa lobby's and services should be left behind when you come to this bath house.  Instead, share a steam room with a few senior citizens, get scrubbed down by a mammoth women who literally scrubs you down with soap while you lay on a table... Not for those who are modest, but definitely for those who love to run around naked and be rubbed down.... Hmm, that may draw in more people then I expect.
