A true gem of a place. It's so easy to get out of town and into oak woodlands. Plenty of trails and paths to explore and excellent amenities throughout the lake - especially the CSUS aquatic center.
My only wish is that the area around the bridges, near downtown, would get cleaned up. Both the trash and the vagrants. I would be nervous down there at night.
Love the lake. It's so quiet and peaceful like a river tamed. In that sense it reminds me of the Charles River in Boston. The collection of rowing and sailing boats on the lake likewise resembles the Charles River.
It's amazing that I grew up in Sacramento and never knew about his place. I suppose when you grow up in south Sacramento you only know south Sacramento and not part of the region between 50 and 80.

Took a couple kayaks out here... Nice area, I love paddling under the bridge, very cool. Ample parking, a fairly popular place, but everyone out and about is friendly, etc. etc.
A lovely lake and a nice place to spend a couple of hours kayaking. CSUS Aquatic Center rents kayaks, canoes, water bikes for about $9/hour. Be prepared to wait in line for these, though.
How could you give it any less? It's a beautiful Oak woodland with a big fat freezing lake in the middle!

Lake Natoma is a small lake in Folsom that has much to offer. It's part of Folsom Lake and its the home of the CSUS aquatic center and Negro Bar. This is a wonderful lake for bike riding, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, swimming and is awesome for wildlife watching!
We are so fortunate to live in an area that has city life so close to outdoor activities. This place is a great escape from the hustle and bustle of our every day working lives.
I personally, love to bring my kayak out here either morning or evening and just paddle away my troubles. There are so many little nooks and crannies that can be explored. I have seen so many neat birds and ducks (w/babies) as well as raccoons!
The park fees/launching fees are reasonable and the park itself is a blessing to have. The area is usually open from 6:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. in the Summer.

I came here last week for the Outrigger Canoe Sprint Races last week. The even was fun to watch but I was surprised it was not advertised in Sacramento at all. One of our friends who was competing for the Hawaii team told us about the event.
It was very hot the day we were there but there is lots of shade and the water feels wonderful.
I have also ridden on the bike trail past here and had a great experience.
This is a great day trip. It is also within walking distance of the fish hatchery.

This has been by far my favorite stop on the Northern California Outrigger Canoe Association Sprint Regatta series. The parking lots are located very close to easy access points to the lake so we didn't have to drag our canoe over bushes and rocks a long distance. The shoreline is nice enough that I didn't mind walking around barefoot unlike most other lakes that tend to be too rocky or slimy. There are plenty of shady areas to hide from the sun, which can be brutal in this area. They also have a nice swim area and you can rent various human powered watercraft to enjoy on the lake. All of that and Adalberto's is only about 10 minutes away!

Beautiful
One of my families favorite summer places. We were there just yesterday and the water is at full levels. We had a good time swimming, fishing and BBQing.
My favorite lake of all! When the weather gets so hot I feel like I'm in an oven, I like escaping here to cool off. This is a really great place to have a picnic. Bring your bike and take advantage of the trails, bring your kayak (if you don't have one, the CSUS Aquatic Center is nearby), and bring your family. Beware of the green stuff you see all over the picnic area, it's duck poop. If you're cheap like me and don't want to pay for parking, then park at the CSUS Aquatic Center. The lake says it doesn't allow dogs but no one enforces it. One time a Lake Natoma worker was there and she didn't really mind as long as you pick up the dog poop. Besides it's always cute to watch my dog splash in the water with other dogs she meets along the way. The best time to get here is around 10am before it gets too crowded or sometime after 5pm when most people have gone home.
