What can I say.. I am an AVID camper. And I love this place.
I have family in northern Cali and spent alot of time around there. Lake Mendocino is a great camping and day area for family and friends.
There are alot of sites to choose from and you can find some on the water or up in the hills. There are sides of this lake that if you like to party and be noisey at night, or just like to be alone you can find it here. I tend to camp in the "Little Bear" area, when camping I fish, drink, and just have fun so this area is for the party people out there.
The rangers are very nice and understand that people will have "fun" out there and as long as your kinda quiet after 10pm your ok. There are bathrooms and showers there, and a few places you'll find washers and dryers too. It's close to the town of Ukiah, so shopping or going out to get a drink is not to far away.
The fishing is very good, and I can remember spendding 36hrs there just fishing with a friend who lives in town. I love this place and have very fond memories of all the good times there.
It's close, not to bad on the wallet, and very nice people to deal with.
Feel like camping? Dont want to drive to long to get some where? 2hrs up 101, and a lil bit of solice is not to far off.
