This place is SO much better than White Water.

There are a good amount of water slides and a wave pool. The "beach" isn't that special. I wouldn't want to lay in dirty sand and swim in muddy lake water when there is a huge wave pool with clean chlorine!

At the very end where there is the Fun Dunker playground you think thats just it but if you bite the bullet and walk up in the crazy mess you will see there is a kickass waterslide that is like a giant toilet bowl.

Oh the memories of Lake Lanier Islands....I grew up about 5 miles from here and spent many summers of my childhood all the way through high school here. I recently went back and it's still as good.

Lake Lanier Islands has lots and lots of slides. The lines aren't very long, especially when compared to Atlanta's White Water. I think the place is also better kept than White Water. The grounds are cleaner, the staff is a bit more friendly. But that's what happens when you stick it out in a smaller town....those Buford people take pride in this tourist attraction!!

My personal favorites here include the giant wave pool, simulating the ocean, and the big manmade river where I can chill out in a tube floating down a lazy river while catching some sun. I also like "The Great Gasp" that Justin B. mentioned - I only got brave enough to try this by like...9th grade and it still gives me the creeps just looking at it sometimes!

There are tooooons of kids and high schoolers here, so prepare yourself or stay away if that would bother you.

Okay, I am aware that this is supposed to be a place where kids hang out to have fun.  But I would have no shame in showing up to the waterpark as an adult, not supervising any children, and having fun by myself.

Lake Lanier Islands Beach and Waterpark has a ridiulous amount of awesome slides and other attractions that can make any individual lose all track of time for an entire day.  My personal favorite attraction at the park is "The Great Gasp," which is basically a gigantic slide, that has to be around 10 stories high, and starts you off on a off on a literal 80 degree vertical drop.  I could ride that slide 20 times and it would still scare the crap out of me.

There is also a man made river at the waterpark that essentially wraps around the entire place.  Most of the individuals who take a trip down the flowing river are parents trying to escape their kids for some R&R.

The Beach and Waterpark is open late spring and early summer.  Tickets are not very expensive, and the number of times that you can enjoy a particular slide is unlimited.  I suggest going to the park during the day before school gets out for the summer.  Otherwise, you are going to have to deal with kids who add an hour to the wait in line, only to then get to the top of the slide and debate whether or not they really want to go down.  If they only realized how selfish they were acting!   : )
