5 reviews for Lake Forest Golf Course
I have some obscenely rich white friends from the depths of Orange County. I wanted to join them at for a round of fancy golf, but they threw their bottle of grey poupon at me and said go to Lake Forest GC. "They accept your kind there." And what kind is that? The ghetto and noob golfer is what!
Getting a tee time last minute was no problem at all. I showed up with my oversized golf shoes, cut-off t-shirt and fringed camouflage shorts. Ready for action!
$8 bucks for 9 holes after 8pm on a Saturday. Walking only. Pitch and putt with a couple of par 4s. Lots of terrain features for something that's considered a learning course. You hit over or adjacent to a few lakes. On the final hole, you hit over a ravine. Hit too short, it goes into the river bed. Hit too far and it goes into the balcony of someone's apartment.
The course is fairly lit in most places. If you hit it off course, good luck finding your ball. In the shadows, you can see ducks catching some zzzz's by the lakes and bunnies prancing around the outskirts of the trees. Don't get too close to them because they'll rip off your head if provoked.

I am tempted to keep my mouth shut here. Golf in OC is usually very overpriced so if you find something worth playing that doesn't break the bank, you want to keep it secret. This place is perfect.
This is an executive course (aka smaller - here 9 holes only) but for $11 at 630 pm, its hard to beat. I actually grew up with a similar course to this by my house and played many a rounds there. The key here is to basically bring your putter and 9/wedge, you won't need much else. The course is also lighted, not that its needed with this record.
One particular hole which was painful was a par 3 that was only about 65 yds to the hole. Its so short, you almost don't know what to do. Chip? There is a driving range and plenty of space to practice your short game (for free).

If you are learning how to golf or practicing with your irons come here. It doesn't break the bank. 14 dollars day. 8 dollars after 8 pm. If you do the after 8 pm book a tee time. Otherwise you'll be waiting in line. Even if you do book a tee time you might be waiting. Nice course. Two ponds. Always changing the tee box and pin. Watch out on the 7th hole. There's a train that comes by frequently. Nice putting green for practice. Rabbits all over the courses. I love this place and will go back numerous times.
There is a driving range with real grass here, that is the biggest plus, but the grass isn't really well kept though. Price is reasonable for OC.
this place is pretty cool.
there is a fun and fairly easy 9 hole par 3 & 4 course there. definately a good place to loosen up for the weekend round.
and you can play at night. the course is lighted fairly well, so that was was a plus right there.
i found that regardless of the level you play, all i really needed is my 7, a lob or sand wedge and your putter , maybe even a 9. everything else was just extra weight. a 3 -4 fairway wood can come in handy for the 2 par 4's, but not really necessary. tonight was all about being a bit more accurate. basically concentrating on the short game and taking it easy. good times.
they have a practice spots for putting, chipping and bunkers and a lot of slots on the driving range. they also have a driving range with real grass. that might be for those taking lessons. there wasn't much people on there.
the fee for the 9 is more than fair.
so yeah. i like that place.
