Awesome place for a walk/jog/run in a semi flat terrain around a lake. During the weekends, early in the morning, I suggest you wander around and talk with the folks near the Senior Center. One of them is Sifu Charlie. He's a great guy- with Wing Chun skills (teaching martial arts in the park), and is centered.
Plus, the various Tai Chi folks that practice in the park early in the morning on the weekends are absolutely wonderful. I've learned alot from them thus far and appreciate their candor, understanding and patients. This place is wonderful in the weekday afternoons, but, if you want to check out Tai Chi or Wing Chun...then...drop on by in the early mornings around 8am Sat-Sun.2 Previous Reviews: Show all »

Review from Emmie L.
Let me just start off by saying... the pictures taken below are extremely beautiful - particularly the one on the far right - they just show off the peacefulness of this lake perfectly. I went here for the first time with 3 of my good friends during the summer, and it was boiling hot! Still, it was just very nice scenery all around. Since we brought our own lunches, we just sat near the picnic area with the cute but starving geese and enjoyed our lunches, people watched together. You'll see all sorts of people here, including runners and dog walkers to just simple meander-ers like us, and when we went, it wasn't very crowded. There's a pretty long trail that runs around the lake, and we decided to exercise our butts off next to any cool air that we could get from the surrounding waters. I wouldn't say the lake is on par with Lake Tahoe, but it's definitely nice for the Bay Area. It looks clean enough.
Maybe the memories won't just be memories if we go next time. Maybe. -

What can I say about this park? I had my 5th bday here back in 1988. It was at the picnic grounds located near the boat rental station. In those days, EVERYBODY went to the park. Every weekend it was packed with kids playing football, baseball, and biking around the lake. I remember chasing all the ducks and geese. I remember feeding wonder bread to all these geese lol. I remember the HUGE playground located near the lagoon with the tunnels that led underground. I remember the dirty lagoon that made my white clothing turn brown. I remember the female lifeguards..ahahahh. I remember trying to jump over the stream near the mini bridge. Oh man....it seems like everything was easier back then. HAHAH.
Now, the park isn't so much like that. Place is empty and all the old playgrounds are gone. The lagoon is gone and it seems like no one rents the paddle boats anymore. The only think I like about this park now is the trail that surrounds the lake. I run it almost everyday after work. I think it's about 2.2 miles all the way around. Good view of mission peak and there is a nice dog park right next to the police station.
3 stars for the memories. 1 one more for the smooth trails for running! -

It's clean, green and it's a pretty non-boring 2 mile circle. It's welcoming to families or people w/ kids cuz they have 3 playgrounds (that I saw) in the entire park area. For running, it isn't that boring cuz its a pretty big stretch. Also good for family & company picnics.

I've been here a lot ever since I moved to Fremont many years ago. The 2 mile jogging/walking path around the lake used to have a lot of duck droppings, but the park maintenance people have maintained it much better. I come here to run a lot, and I love the scenery to go along with my jog as opposed to when I was running on a dirt track behind a high school. The fences and the construction for the BART extension have diminished that beautiful scenery a little bit, but as soon as they've finished, it will be restored.
No matter how boring Fremont gets, this park is still the one place many people go to for gatherings and barbecues, ESPECIALLY during the summer! And year-round, many people come here for all different kinds of exercise, from walking to jogging to volleyball and even tai chi. There is a ton of space for kids to play on play structures and open field, as well as picnic tables that include barbecue pits. There are also 10 soccer fields and tennis courts nearby, as well as a small water park.
As long as I'm in Fremont, I'll always be here. -

I think Lake Elizabeth has gotten worse over the years, but not because of its own ecological problems. City of Fremont has launched for a bart line extension to stretch through part of the park - big mistake. You can smell the by-products of the construction whenever you pass it. Did they not consider that all of the hundreds of families visiting the park on a daily basis would be inhaling these fumes? I honestly don't understand the point of this mess.
Fremont is already boring enough. Instead of building useless bart stations and ruining the nature, they should be focusing on how to solve their economic problems by arranging for more local business to thrive here, rather than setting up Wal-Marts and corporate business centers everywhere. This rant should be launched towards the city as a whole though, I understand... );
Good thing about the park is ~for the most part~ the jogging track spanning the lakeside is even, the scenery is refreshing, and there are lots of playgrounds (I love going on the swings after a jog!) There's also tons of parking, especially by the water park. Best time to go here is on a weekday evening, when it's not too crowded. Jogging a lap always hits the spot. -

Lake Elizabeth brings back good memories. I grew up in Fremont so this was always the spot for bbqs, doggie walk days, jogging or taking a stroll, etc. I especially love coming here when the weather is nice. You get a good exercise from walking around the lake and also get a chance to soak up some sun. Definitely a very relaxing and refreshing feeling.

I was born here in the Bay Area but moved to San Diego when I was 7. I do have some childhood memories of this lake (running in the wide open areas, falling into the lake, chasing ducks and being chased by geese) Now that I've returned to the Bay, running around this lake always brings back those memories. This is a really nice place to be around, there's a community center, library, water park, dog park, soccer and baseball fields, tennis and basketball courts, skate park, vita course fitness stations and there's also a golf course and driving range. So much room for activities! I have a daughter on the way and I hope someday, she'll enjoy this place as much as I did when I was a kid (minus the falling into the lake and being chased by geese part)
Once the BART extension get completed, and the construction around the park is finished, this will be a 5 star park once again. -

Lake Elizabeth aka Central Park is a park that I go to often when I'm back in my hometown, Fremont. It's not really my place of choice to take a walk/run/jog but it is close to home. There's a lot of construction going on in the eastern side and thus a lot of trees were cut down. It gets pretty hot around the eastern side of the lake so be sure to wear enough sun screen and have your sunglasses on!
There is also a new waterpark where the lagoon used to be. I haven't been to it but you can definitely see it from the street. -

Lake Elizabeth is great for walking, running, kids, play grounds, picnics. It can a bit hectic with parking on warm days especially with the new water park which is also really great.
Things you should watch for is running late night (ladies) the lake does not have lights along it so the back side especially can a bit spooky at night. Weird people, stranger danger.
People are generally really nice you get a nice mix of young old athletes weekend warriors and families going for a stroll.
Watch out for bird poop! and mosquitoes later on in the evening!
Highly recommend. -

This park is HUGE.
Perfect place for long walks, picnics, barbecues, etc.
Summertime is when Lake Elizabeth truly gets crackin; every single area gets occupied by families and friends. If you plan on having an event during that season, make sure to arrive extra early to find a vacant spot. -

What can I say about Lake Elizabeth?!
You can boat, kayak, fish, run, bike, fly your kite, the list goes on and on...
They even have a skate park, dog park, water park, park playground, and parking lots... haha
Overall, the park is huge with plenty of BBQ pits to get your grill on... -

I love Lake Elizabeth. After a haggard, crazy day, this is my favorite place to get my fitness on. Anyone who frequents this place often will notice that you never really see anyone in a pissy mood here. Why? Because it is beautiful, how can you be in a bad mood at Lake Elizabeth?
Besides almost stepping in duck poopoos every 5 steps, this place is awesome. It is about a 2.5 mile walk around the lake, and there are plenty of picnic spots to just chill at. There is also an outdoor amphitheater that I've seen mini concerts take place at. I usually frequent this place around sunset and it is gorgeous. Big ups to the man who rides his tricycle around the lake and always says hi to me!
On Saturdays and Sundays parking is kind of lame but besides that this is probably one of my favorite places in Fremont. :) -

I come to this park for my ninja training.
Specifically, I train on my footwork at Lake Elizabeth, because the goose and duck poop all over the park provide excellent obstacles to avoid. The punishment for failure is quite high. One false step and you'll be known as "Poopy Shoes" by the other ninjas. -

Water park, lake for running, fields for play are only a few things I really love about lake Elizabeth. Pet friendly and always something going on here. Warning for those shoe-less hippies and grass-a-phobes (hey-they do exist): Goose poop alert!
Yea, I'm a total grass-a-phobe. If you didn't know, now you know. I am terrified of stepping on grass and this place has plenty of it, WHICH i can tolerate when well groomed and short. However, be forewarned grass-a-phobes the geese do NOT tread lightly here.
Love the overall appearance of the picnic area. I went here last weekend because the hub had an ultimate game meetup with the folks in Fremont. Lucky for me, the Kids N' Kites Fest was also going on so score for me and my little one who accompanied me. Dogs all around and the lake looked very serene. Trails around the lake as well which can be great for all the roadies and runners. Will be back for sure in the Summer for some water park fun. -

Fremont, CA
Lake Elizabeth has changed quite a bit since I was a child, but it's still one of Fremont's main gathering grounds. It's such a large park that it's actually divided into different sections, and includes the new water park (which is not that spectacular at all).
This is just a really great place to go to have a walk, a run, a bbq, or just a good time. :) And of course it's all free.
But yes... watch out for the poop-mines left by all the wildlife that frequent this park. Your challenge, if you should choose to accept it: do not become the next Mr. or Ms. Poop Shoes. Good luck! :D -

This park always brings back memories. As a kid, my dad would take my sister and I to bike around the trail while he went jogging. We would also stop to feed the ducks our old bread, even though I'm pretty sure that is illegal at this point. During my latter years in grade school, I'd play for my school's boys beach volleyball team at the sandy court close to the school for the deaf. We even won a championship there dammit. The park was also a location for occasional multiple family parties when I was younger.
This park is the ideal place to take your family, have a picnic, utilize the fields for soccer or football, basically just to chill on a nice sunny afternoon. There's also enough baseball fields, tennis courts, playgrounds, and plenty of space to bike/run/walk. There are 2 full court basketball courts, both side double rimmed. The surfaces kinda slope down from one end to the other, and actually one of the rims is messed up. Therefore, it'd be pretty hard to run 2 full court games. At least both courts have a 3-point line.
Plenty of things to do out here. I'd love to come out here more often if it was closer. Lake Elizabeth makes you appreciate Fremont a little more. -

I come to Lake Elizabeth almost everyday. I love to catch up with the bf or a friend while we walk around the lake.
There are so many playgrounds and large areas to fly kites and run around. This park is also an amazing spot to hold a party, as testified by the plethora of jump houses present every weekend.
My only gripe is the construction that has been going on lately. It kind of ruins the outdoor paradise? I have also been seeing more dead fish lately?
Anyways, this park is a treasure and surprisingly beautiful for Fremont! -

Lake Elizabeth is definitely a park I've been to time & time again, whether it is for a picnic, bbq, to play sports, catch some sun rays, or go for a run.
It does get crowded at certain times of the day/weekends & there is always plenty of bird poop all over the track. But the marked track makes it easy & safe for a good run! -

I have been to this park several time; Memorial Day BBQs, Birthday Parties, etc.
This park is great! There are lots of tables and BBQ pits to have wonderful family gatherings. There are several entrances to the park, and the bathrooms are surprisingly not as bad as some public bathrooms. (Though I would bring wet wipes just in case.) Make sure you get there early to reserve the table, otherwise they get snatched up quickly.
I have yet to make it a full lap around the lake but I'm sure its great.
See you again during another summer get together :) -

I have a lot of great memories of lake elizabeth. Growing up in fremont made it possible for me to go to lake elizabeth on a weekly basis.
My first serious bf and I spent lots of time at that lake, walking, talking and enjoying it...but the fondest memory is running around that lake with my best friend.
Many time, Lake Elizabeth has served its purpose to provide entertainment in a clean environment that embraces and encourages outdoor recreation.
Running around the lake, enjoying the sun with a picnic, or a gathering of people you love to eat good food....it is one of the best places to do it. -

One of our favorite playgrounds in the East Bay. It's so darn huge, and spacious, and the lake is pretty, and of course it's close to Sweet Tomatoes (grin).
Plus -- it's a pint-size United Nations. Where else can you hear Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Mandarin, Amharic, Arabic and Spanish spoken all in one place? -

Negatives:
1. Duck Poop, which I mentioned
2. Can get crowded
3. No Parking

After this last visit, I feel a sense of regret. I wish I would have spent more time at Lake Elizabeth before moving out of the area. But you shall learn from my mistakes!
1. Terrific new toddler play area. Turn in at Mission View entrance and it'll be on your right. Shaded picnic tables and bbq area.
2. Stretches of well-maintained green lush grass that my son loved to run through. Best part were the small patches of daisies that he and another friend liked to pick.
3. The distance around the Lake itself is perfect for a quick, short run. I've run it with my son in the jog stroller and my dog in tow and even on the busy weekend days it's still a great quick run.
4. Lots of parking all over.
5. Clean bathrooms galore.
6. Fremont driving range is next door! Yea, this doesn't have much to do with Lake Elizabeth but one time my hub went to the driving range and I went on a run around Lake Elizabeth.
Some things to note however:
1. If you're meeting up with someone make sure you have the correct entrance noted. There are tons of different little parking areas so it's really easy to enter in the wrong place.
2. Watch out for geese pucky. And since we're talking about pucky, watch out for dog pucky left by inconsiderate owners (they should get a ticket for littering!).
3. It's really busy on the weekends and around sunset so if you want to avoid the crowds, casual (slow-ass) walkers, etc. come during midday during the week if possible. (I am a fast-walker so slow walkers who walk in "walls" are one of my biggest pet peeves.)
Aside from these small things, Lake Elizabeth is a great community spot. -

I had to get out of the house and decided to take the dog out with me so off we went to Fremont Lake Elizabeth. Parking in the back is never crowded unless a big event is taking place.
I throw on the i pod and start my trek through the park with my rotti. You got families doing the party thing and groups of people hanging out ready to que and you got kids areas throughout the park
. As we pass by the snack stand on the side and in the back you got groups of asians going through the tai chi movements they have some with swords and most just going through the motions something to watch in which they were all graceful as can be.
The park has a calming affect in which you can see different things on any given day. On the way out i got to hear a group of guys in a picnic area doing some 5 part harmony and dang could these guys blow. maybe the next time i come down i'll bring some 40's and maybe they will let me sing a few chords with them lol. Just another day at the park. If you want to get wet they also have a water park during the summer time ! -

A great park in Fremont.
Great place to run around the lake, play basketball and to see dogs running around the doggy park.
There's always parking in the front area and always have plenty of people walking their dogs or enjoying the scenery. This is also a great place to have family BBQ's, but places are limited. -

Lake Elizabeth and I go back... way back.
In college, I came here all the time for picnics and retreats (read: beer beer beer!), and now as a working adult, I jog around this lake at least 2-3 times a week. Working in Silicon Valley takes a lot out of me, but once I've completed a lap or two (depending on the weather and how bad the bird poop smells that day), I feel good about life again.
There are also playgrounds and a snack bar on the premises. Before I figured out there was a park in much-closer Eden Shore, I would take my son here all time.
Extra star because occasionally I smell other people's awesome yummy BBQ while I'm jogging. -

A great park to hang out, throw some meat on a the bbq grill, or just have a nice picnic.
I came here a few times over the summer for UYEs and birthday picnics. The grass is nice and lush at places and there's lots of places to bbq, or if you are lucky enough to reserve a spot, you have guaranteed picnic space. Don't let those other large families try to crowd you out! (that happened to us last time. The mom of the family was upset and ended up kicking one of the dogs out of frustration. C'mon, be an adult and contain your frustration! Don't take it out on tiny animals! )
There's lots to do and you can set up volleyball/badminton nets. Or play some bocce ball.
Just be careful of the geese and their poo. And angry moms who kick puppies.Listed in: The Great Outdoors

I used to come here at least once a week when I was growing up. I started on the "blue toys" and grew up to the "dirty toys." Wasn't I cute?
Anywho, these days I enjoy Lake Elizabeth for it's enabling me to exercise. It's exactly 2 miles around the lake and it's quite scenic (as far as Fremont goes). Sometimes I walk, sometimes I jog and sometimes I take my dogs.
I most recently came for the Furry Friends Woofstock event which was fabulous!
There's a fairly new (2009, I believe) waterpark at Lake Elizabeth now that's big with the teeny bopper crowd. I mean, what's more fun than 13 year olds hitting on other scantily clad 13 year olds? Ew.Listed in: Fremont Treasures

A lake in Fremont? Yeah, there's a lake in Fremont but don't start packing your wake-boards just yet. You can jog around the entire length in under 20 minutes, it's a little less than 2 miles. It's a great place to take a quick jog with the pooch and feel like you've taken a small nature getaway. And I say this because there's no shortage of geese, ducks and every other water fowl. But be careful, some of the geese are as big as some small children and if they have young, they will be aggressive.
If you have a dog, be sure to bring doggie bags, there's markers for bags but they're always empty.
For children this place is great; multiple parks for toddlers to young children and enough room to play ball. The water-slide park next door is fairly new and seems to be a real city hit.
Parking can be somewhat of a bear during major holidays but overall there's no shortage of it.
If you're ever tired of always going to the gym, this is an ideal place to go and get a change of pace. Great venue to do a crossfit workout with the monkey and pullup bars. -

Great place for family bbq, days out with friends, to walk your dog or even get a workout. It's clean, its green and will keep you pretty lean.
The lake is great, kinda ehh with the water. They offer those pedal boats, but for some reason, they seem to always be closed (or at least when i go).
This place has a pretty huge playground(s) and LOTS of geese/ ducks.
Downside, the poop. It's like almost everywhere! gahh. -
