I haven't been back to this park since I was a little kid, when my sister had fallen into the lake trying to feed the ducks! Ha!
Our friend held her 27th b-day at Redwood Shores 2 picnic area and it was a perfect area, with just enough trees for shade, so your food didn't get spoiled, and so one didn't get tipsy too fast! We didn't stay for very long, but the weather was perfect, there was people of all ages, walking, biking, dog walking, or having a picnic.
Definitely a great place to go on a Saturday morning to get in some exercise and family time!

On weekends as soon as it gets hot, this place is like a Calcutta street market. Swarms of visitors love coming here to BBQ, party or walk the lake.
Is it me or if you're here for more than 1/2 hour you kinda start smelling like bird poop? I also find it often quite windy around the lake, even if it's not a windy day.
As a kid I loved it here. But now as an adult, not so much. It's too many people. As much as I don't prefer going here, my dog really loves the walk even though the distance is a little long for his little legs.
Oh another plus, boating, for when you're bored of mundane exercise activities. Pay $5 and you can row for a half hour. But it smells just as bad on the lake. Well, it's the only park in Fremont, so we don't have much choice.

So I rented a dog, and took IT and IT'S owner for a walk.
In my previous condition, I was a dog walker that specialized in bulldogs.
I am missing my bulldog. Can you tell?
Any who...
It was a beautiful Sunday afternoon, and I met up with my friend and his dog. I needed to work off the California Benedict I had just scarfed down. It was kinda windy, but this paved, "sorta a loop" path made it enjoyable. I say "sorta loop" because we wandered off the beat and path a couple of times and ended up almost in the middle of a softball game.
Not so busy, lot's of walkers, some bikers, 2 roller blader's, lot's of dogs and poop in certain areas. From what I understand, they have a great Thursday night concert series, but the traffic discourages me! Great place for a walk and to work off my yelp!

I attended a family event held at the community center yesterday. There was great weather and it was a Saturday so there were tons of people at the park.
Parking is definitely a problem off of Paseo Padre Pkwy, I tried two lots before I finally found a space and then I had a bit of a walk.
The community center itself is fairly small, but you can easily pull off a party with 100 people or so there.
The lake is kind of murky, even on a beautiful day. This spoils what otherwise would have been a great scenic view, with the hills in the back and a grassy area and lake in the front.
If you live in the area, this is probably a great resource. If you don't live in Fremont, I'd pass. There are much nicer parks around if you're going to drive; pretty much anything on the peninsula will do the trick.

Now that the weather is nice, I can throw out my gym card and hit up Lake Elizabeth again. Great place to walk, run, meditate or just people watch. They have BBQ pits, about 2-3 playgrounds, and a dock area to watch old folks fish for.... who knows what?
Overall, one of the best spots to relax in the tri-city area.

This lake is the #1 attraction for me in Fremont, besides Salang Pass. It's the perfect size around for a jog around the lake or a long stroll. It's right next to the library. It feels great, on warm weekday evenings, on crowded weekend afternoons, just all the time.
Who cares if there's bird poop?

As everyone said, there is a lot of Bird poop in the area. The only thing that really annoys me. At least it does not smell like crap their. I wish people would stop feeding the birds bags of bread! Dont you know that is bad for wildlife? No wonder so many birds are in this area.
Other than that it makes for a great 3 mile loop jog or walk and not generally busy during the weekdays which is great. On weekends thats a different story, so I avoid weekends.
All in all its a nice place to visit.

Again we lucky Fremonters have a great facility here for walking cycling rollerblading picnicing BBQ...birdlife watching...on leash dog walking .Again it tneds to be very busy at the weekends.
Besides the bird poop issue, it's often very crowded. Coming from a jogger's point of view, it's pretty inconvenient to maneuver around the rollerblading / skateboarding kids and parents with strollers. But in terms of availability for outdoor running environment near Fremont, this is probably it.
If anybody knows a better location for some running action, please do enlighten me.
Well since Amy is having a DYA event here on this Tuesday, August 7, 6:30pm. I figured the least I can do is rave about how nice this lake is.
I live close by and walk around the lake a lot. I remember first moving to Fremont about a year ago and spending my nights doing the walk around this lake.. thinkin' about things I have to do and what nots. I enjoyed every minute of it. This place is always full of people and you can bring your dog. There are lots of pooches here (there is also a dogpark located on one end of the lake) and if you love people watching you'll definitely enjoy this place. The weekends are full of get togethers and parties. You'll see kids running around playing and men playing football or kicking the soccer ball around. You can rent boats too. I can't say enough about the great times I've enjoyed here. It's a great place.. Everyone should come here and enjoy this awesome lake.

My moms' group and I really like Lake Elizabeth Park. We meet at least once a week to take a stroll around the lake. It's the perfect walking distance for (us) mommies trying to work out the baby fat (ours, not our kids'). Hahaha. The paved trail accommodates the strollers. Several playgrounds and picnic areas are scattered throughout the park, making it great for children and an ideal spot for get-togethers and family events.
I would've given it 5 stars were it not for all the geese (and other birds) that don't care where they drop their poop. Another rant is for the fact that they turn on the sprinklers in the middle of the day, making it hard for us to find a spot to lay down our blankets so we can hang out and our babies can crawl around to their hearts' desires.

My family and I love coming here for BBQ's- the weather in Fremont is a guaranteed great and the park itself is huge, meaning that there's usually a lot of tables and grills for everyone. Of course, the only drawbreak of the park are the giant bird turds that are everywhere. That's to be expected, considering the huge flocks of Canadian geese that wander the grounds.
The park is well-maintained by park rangers and maintenance, who come by and make sure that the garbage cans are not overflowing and that the toilets remain clean throughout the day. They also do a good job on making sure that the grill tops are clean- we noticed today that they've been replaced recently.
The lake itself is pretty and you can experience it either by walking/jogging/skating/biking around it or by being in a paddle boat on it. There are a few playgrounds sprinkled around so that the little rugrats have something to do other than eat and run around.
Overall, Central Park and Lake Elizabeth is our favorite park to have family outings. Weekends and holidays do get pretty crowded, so you might have to show up early to get the best tables.

Lake Elizabeth is the best park I've ever been to. Two miles around, it's the perfect distance for walking or running alone, with a friend, or with a dog. You can have a picnic, throw a party, rent a paddle boat -- the good times are endless. When I was laid off it was my favorite free hang-out. After running around the lake, I would walk over to the library and read magazines and then walk over to the Fremont Animal Shelter to say hi the cats and dogs. Go there this weekend!

Eh..it's OK, I prefer Vasona park to this place, but its all about location and vicinity. Absolutely cannot stand the geese and the bird dookie that laces the ground. And, my mom took me and my sister here when we were 4 & 5, and we were playing with some kid and the kid ended up stealing my damn toys. Parents need to teach their kids some damn manners and common rules and regulations.

Our pups love this lake! We like it too. Sure, the bird poop and inconsiderate dog owners who don't pick up their dog poop make it a little funky but, despite the poop mines, we have a good time. There is plenty of room for kids to play, people to run, and dogs to walk. The city keeps the park and lake looking very nice and I wish we lived closer so we could walk our pups there on a daily basis.
This park totally kicks most park's asses that I have seen around the bay. Have you ever been to Hellyer Park in San Jose? Lake Elizabeth makes that place look like a dump!
If you are looking for a place to relax or have some free fun this is the place. Man... I have so many memories here of parent's business picnics and bbq's w/ boyfriend. Break out the mini grill, rice, and galbi!
If your feeling a little bit adventurous, take a stroll into hobo jungle! Theres no hobos there but thats what we called it in high school. Its just a stream and random bushes/trees next to the railroad tracks off Paseo Padre.

OK - I'll get this out of the way now - yes, there is a lot of bird poop. Mommies, beware your stroller wheels - it's not easy to clean bird crap off the wheels before loading it back into your car, lest your trunk become strewn with goose droppings... but I digress.
Lake Elizabeth is a nice park in the middle of Fremont - not the best park ever, but it is convienient, has the nice lake to walk around, and has three or four playground areas, one of them being quite large. The two mile path around the lake is a great place to walk or run (although I would avoid walking around at dusk if there's not many people - they really did find a body back near the RR tracks about 4 or 5 years ago), especially with a stroller and doggie. Twice around makes for a nice workout.
It's best enjoyed in the morning, but is nice any time of day. I have been coming more often as I now have a toddler who loves to play on the playstructures (which are mercifully NOT fully of bird poop).
And I hope there is an act of God to prevent the city from spending $8M to put a water park where the old (admittedly disgusting) swim lagoon used to be - it's only going to be open 3 or 4 months out of the year, and the rest of the year, those of us that use the park have to look at the monstrosity...
Also a good place to have a birthday party for a kid - there are BBQ areas near the playgrounds.

this lake is near my office so i used to walk or "run" around it during the summer on my way home from work. the goose poop here is out of control. i hate birds. i wish i could ignore it but since i was constantly looking out to avoid stepping in -ish, i'm pretty sure i always had a disgusted look on my face.
still, the lake is pretty and not at all stinky. i wouldn't swim in it or anything but it's nice to look at.

Just a warning... Yes there is a lot of bird poop. Lake Elizabeth is still a great place to do a hike with all the wildlife around. It's a place where a lot of parties are held and the eating areas seem decent, i just wished they would clean the sidewalks with all the bird poop sloshed everywhere. Other than that... it is a park with a few playgrounds and bathrooms, and it is free. You can also rent a boat to visit the waters, and away from the poop.
Bottom Line:
Fun playgrounds.
Eventful setting.
Lots of bird poop.
This is a nice and cozy oasis in the midst of all these business in Fremont.
The bf & I brought some food from home here to eat during my lunch break on a Wednesday. It was so peaceful & quiet. There weren't that many people - some rollerblading, some running, some just laying out on the grass.
One thing we did notice was the huge flock of geese!! I wanted to see if they were deadly because he warned me that they would run after and bite me if I disturbed them. But they didn't.
Luckily, I didn't encounter too much dog or duck poop that the other reviewers wrote about.

Igor N. right this place is awesome but minus one star for the bird poo.
All shit aside the daytime is the best for me because there is boat rentals, and all sorts of people having fun to check out.

What a wonderful open space to enjoy some trees, birds, water, wind, and...POO! The geese leave big piles behind. Watch for the little flightless birds that look like they are from another era, have huge feet and orange eyes. When they all go running off the edge of the path into the water at sunset, it reminds you of how species go extinct.
Walking here right after the rain is best, less piles to dodge! Minus 1 star for the crowds.

Ahh the lake. Growing up in Fremont, one often frequents the park. Yes the piles and piles of bird waste...that lagoon full of swimming children and human waste..the fun boat cycling rides. The best is to come here at night to mess around and burn some calories gained from the night's drinking. However City hall is close by so watch out! Oh yeah the playground is awesome for kids too.

nice lake. few miles all around. i used to work on this lake doing manual labor. ive been everywhere. i was on the island in the middle clearing out weeds its called "duck island" because its infested with ducks. theres bushes on the south side of the lake where people have sex. you will find condom wrappers there for days. bums chill in the creepy area also on the south side. someone got murdered and their body was dumped in that area before. theres a creek over there where you can go crawdad fishing with hot dogs. you got some baseball fields, train tracks, a little snack bar to eat things, a boat area where you can rent a paddle boat. i wish the lagoon was still open.
Not only is Lake E just the right distance for easy runs, it's got cute little duckies, lovely trees that frame the lake, and a sense of community. I usually go running there on weekday mornings. It's perfect for a quick 2-4 mile run (I typically run along the the dirt side of the path, where it's a little better on your knees). When I was training for a half tho', it got really boring running around and around there 3 or 4 times. I think the best time is the lake first thing in the morning, with the sun coming up, the birds flying overhead (no excrements of any kind to dodge yet), and only a few early risers. There's nothing like the feel of fresh air coursing through you. If you go here on summer weekend afternoon watch out though, as all of Fremont comes out - dogs with their doo-doo's, tykes on their tricycles, grown-ups on rollerblades/bicycles, and older folks tai chi-ing. Then, it's less of the peaceful vibe and more of the people watching vibe.

This used to be my place to jog at. I loved it. Especially at night. At night, when there's almost no one there and the moon's reflection hovers over half the lake, it's the perfect spot to run at. Well, almost. Subtract one star for the goose dung that seems to appear in spades every summer.

I love how people actually use this park and bring their kids to play here. It's kind of unusual these days, just bringing your kids to the park and not being afraid of something. Yeah, the goose poop is pretty bad sometimes so watch your step. It's a perfect place for a picnic, and a great place to just sit and read. There are people of all walks of life here
I agree with the previous reviews. You can't walk for 5 seconds w/out encountering a humongous heap of goose or duck poop. Yes, even dog poop! Some people are SO inconsiderate! (Pick up the damn poop your dog lays!) Also there are huge clouds of gnats everywhere. I would have to say THOUSANDS which I'm sure I've inhaled a few while jogging/running.
Anyways, I remember coming here as a child and renting boats and feeding the cute little ducks. I havent done that in recent years but I plan to one of these days. (Maybe next summer since fall is now approaching)
There are plenty of geese, ducks, herons in the area. I was here the other night finishing my walk, and from the dark all I can make out was shadows which appeared (from far away) small children walking in a line but as I got closer I realized they were geese (they stood about three or so feet) that had flown here and was just walking in a single filed line into the lake. It was adorable.
Daylight savings is next week and due to the massive piles of poop (as mentioned above) I will not be doing my weekly jogs here when it's completely dark since I can't see what I'm stepping on. But I will be back for my two mile walks come spring time.

Pluses: I love to get out to the Lake early in the morning, when the mist is still rising. A really peaceful and beautiful time.
Walking twice around the Lake is a great workout.
I have never felt unsafe walking here by myself. There are usually plenty of other people around.
Lake Elizabeth seems to have "a litlle of bit of everyone" from Fremont here--the morning Tai Chi groups, the runners and skaters, the fishermen, the elderly, the little kids on their bikes, etc. That's a really nice thing to see.
Minuses: Yes, the bird poop is gross.
Walking around the Lake in the afternoon is usually hot.
There's a lot of picnic groups at the Lake later in the day, so parking and noise could be a problem.
