9 reviews for Lahori Kabob
Nestled in an unassuming strip mall in Falls Church (the one with the Magruders and Ba Le Bakery), one would never expect to find one of the best "Pakistan-Indian" restaurants out there. Yes, you heard it here first. Food has once again brought peace to the world through Lahori Kabob's declaration of "Kabobs & Authentic Pakistan-Indian Cuisine."
Kidding aside, you enter the place not expecting much. The décor... well, the lack thereof doesn't scream "explosion of flavors in your mouth." Small tables, randomly placed counters, a food buffet in the far back (see photo... coincidentally, where the cash register is, and where you can order take out). The daily buffet ($6.99, weekends $8.99) would make one think, you get what you pay for. However, my first impressions were wrong wrong wrong! It's a great deal, now that I think about it. You don't even have to pay a premium for Lahori Kabob's "100% Halal" preparation.
The nice young lady at the register helped me with my carryout order - Chicken Kabob and Lamb Kabob and it took about 15 minutes for them to make the lamb. Let's just say the fragrant aroma of the spices made me want a bib on my drive home. AKA don't bring your Sunday best here. After only stepping in the store to order, and to come back to pick up, my clothes still smell... well, delicious!
Each platter comes with a good helping of fragrant rice, side salad, and curried beans. Let's not forget the naan and that crazy green sauce that makes green Tabasco sauce pee it's bland pants. The chicken was succulent with an amazing array of spices mixed in. The lamb was the real star, though. Contrary to other places that advertise lamb, at Lahori Kabob, it tastes fresh and not at all gamey. It was juicy and perfectly cooked.
I can't wait to come back to try their buffet!
$6.99 weekday buffet until 10pm, $7.99 on weekends. This is a FANTASTIC deal since the food is actually really good here. I was a little skeptical when I entered and saw no employees. Finally one showed up and I tried to order off the menu but he said that it's better to just get the buffet. So, I figured for that price I'd give it a shot and I was pleasantly surprised. They had a variety of kabobs, rice, and vegetable dishes. I really enjoyed the okra. And the fresh bread that they brought out was good too. Of course everything suffered from buffet syndrome, where a vat of food sitting in a buffet pan for a certain amount of time starts to get mushy, but the flavors were still good.
I don't know if they were understaffed or if this sketchy "just get it off the buffet" attitude is just how they do it here. I wouldn't come to Lahori for fresh, made to order kabobs, but for surprisingly good food at a dirt cheap buffet price, it's definitely a good value. I'm hoping that they change up the items on the buffet from day to day. I'd love to see what else they bring out.
Lunch buffet, signs at gallows and 29 show its on graham inbetween 29 and 50, its on the corner on rt29. Ignore rt 50
Nice buffet, tandoori chicken, chicken meatballs, spicy chickpeas, potato and peas, Lentils, mixed vegs include tomato, potato, onions, eggplant, broccoli..,
One whole nan comes with buffet, 1.50 for more. Got there in between bread servings..
Was happy nobody was smoking, has separate smoking area.
Seeing as how there aren't any yet, I think it's about time for a review on Lahori Kabob's hookah! =)
Being coaxed one night into this little, dark place by a few friends who swear by Lahori's hookah turned out to be one of the best times I have ever had. That first time I went there we ordered some fruity mix of flavors (I don't exactly recall what) while the man serving us was very friendly and suggested flavors and noted their intensities without us even asking. The hookah came out very promptly and was enjoyed thoroughly. It took some working on the air valve(?) to get thick smokey hits like we wanted, but it wasn't a huge set-back. The shisha cost us around $13...reasonable for a place like this (and a really good time) in my opinion. The atmosphere is a little strange with VH1, MTV and, all at the same time, loud rap playing...but I can deal.
As a side note, for the food, the buffet is delish but I wouldn't go out of my way to get food here. However one thing that I really like from Lahori is their butter chicken- it is some of the best I have ever had. Too bad it's only on the menu one night of the week!
Overall, I definitely recommend going to Lahori Kabob if you want to have a nice hookah session and grab some pretty good food at the same time. Cheers!
I love this place!! The customer service is great and the vegetarian dishes are flavorful and addictive. I have not tried the meat dishes, so I cannot judge that. I always get the buffet, to go, and I have end up with enough food for about 3 meals. They are not stingy at all, at least not when I go. I can't get enough of the spicy chickpeas and fresh bread!!!!
Came here in search of Kabob. It was tasty and came with some delicious naan, rice, and veggie. Interesting atmosphere with the VH1 reality shows on the TV and rap on the sound system, but I'll be back.
This is my second time here in this month, I enjoyed the food. The buffet is decent especially the chicken tandoori, it tasted like homemade which was an A+!!!! This is another late night restaurant for those who have the munchies! Anywho, they do have hookah at this place but they serve it after 10pm I believe. I haven't tried the hookah at the place so I wouldn't know how their service is like. I'll come back and update my experience when I do hookah (whenever that will be :P)
Enjoyed our buffet there. Everything was very good (ok, the salad was a little tired, & could use a dressing but who goes to a Pakistani restaurant for salad?). Great veggies, great meat.
A bargain. You can go a little over $10 depending on what you order, but you are unlikely to go far over it.
No money wasted on fancy decor -- that's fine with me.
Next time we'll try some food cooked to order - can't wait.
You get only one naan with the buffet but it's hot and delicious.
They're open from 11 am until 4 am! Now I know where to go very very late. (There is a 24 hour Vietnamese place close by as well, in case you arrive at, say, 4:30 am.)
Lahori's Kabob is one of the best kabob places to go for lunch.
The food there isn't spectacular, but their buffet makes it worth the trip. Definitely a place to go to for cheap lunch.
But besides the lunch buffet, I wouldn't eat there. They are quite stingy on the kabob platters and side orders. One time I ordered fries and they gave me Taco Bell packets inside the takeout box. I wasn't sure if they thought it was ketchup or if they thought I was dumb enough to accept it as ketchup.
