4 reviews for Laguna Beach Inn
A great getaway spot from San Diego.
I had no idea the room would be so small, but it's right near the water, so I guess a lot of places have small rooms.
Walking to the beach was cool, and the beach almost seems private. I asked to have a fridge and a DVD player put in the room, but only got a fridge. The veranda with tables is nice for the afternoon and the cheese and wine was pretty cool too. The room we stayed it would be too small for any longer than one night. Hope to be back here soon!
The "sister" hotel where the breakfast is was good, but the day we went they were out of everything. The only thing they had was breakfast sandwhices- not even Iced Tea. Granola, but no yogurt.
If you go there for breakfast check out the view from their rooftop bar. It's awesome.
Ahhhh - finally a weekend away! We recently to away for a little QT - we didn't go too far from home, but we felt WORLDS away from Anaheim. (Thank heavens - that was the point!)
We found Laguna Beach Inn on a few different bargain-hotel search engines, and we both agreed it seemed like the best choice. Affordable, cute, close to the beach, and great perks and amenities for the price. We did get a pretty smokin deal, thanks to the diving economy, and our off-season timing!
The bed was so comfy, with nice quality sheets, comforter, pillows, etc. The room was very clean. The curtains blocked the light really well (sounds small - but a great perk!). Our room was very small - but small places are nothing new for us! The bathroom was huge, and nice, with a huge tub in it! The whole place is really cute - kind of homey-beach-cottagey looking, including a big patio with an ocean sunset view. The staff was very personable and approachable. The wine and cheese "hour" was so cool! The set-up was really cute, and the wine, cheese and crackers were good! The pool looked really nice (but it was cold when we were there, so we didn't try it). Their morning coffee was good coffee too! And I love the little candles lit around different areas - a really nice touch.
There were a few little things that could have been improved, but all were small things - and easy to fix. (I'm wondering if I stayed in the same room as Molly B... because our tub/shower had the same problems - exactly the same (I was laughing when I read her review)! And our wifi signal seemed to drop periodically.
That said - we thoroughly enjoyed our stay there - would happily go again, and will recommend it to friends. A really cute, pleasant affordable get-away find in Laguna Beach. How nice!
Seriously. This is possibly my favorite hotel.
And trust me, we stay at A LOT of hotels. We are a seriously vacationing family. But this hotel rises to the top and here are a few reasons why:
1. Ashley Ralph. From the time I was making my reservations through the duration of our stay, this individual paid attention to our every need. Ashley has unending patience which is very important for a front office hotel manager to have. The exemplary customer service she (and the other staff members, as well) provided made us feel totally pampered while still making us feel welcome and comfortable.
2. A variety of rooms. We went to this hotel for a week, and some friends joined up with us for the latter part of the week. The first several nights we stayed in a regular room with 2 large very comfortable beds. The last several nights we moved to the "bungalow", which is really a 2-story, 2-bedroom apartment with a gorgeous kitchen, living room and huge flatscreen tv--- the works. We felt like we owned the place!!!
3. Nice wine and cheese happy hour that actually lasts several hours. Crazy awesome cheese and cracker assortment and some fabulous wines.
4. TOTALLY AWESOME COMPLIMENTARY BREAKFAST at a restaurant in a sister hotel nearby. The food there was absolutely terrific.
5. Location, location, location. Cross the street, go down some stairs and---voila!--- you're on a gorgeous beach. Also walking distance from shopping, dining, massage, salons, you name it.
6. Beautiful decks for kicking back and relaxing.
7. Nice warm pool that is really beautiful and unique.
8. Wifi, of course.
This place doesn't come cheap, but it is not expensive, either--- I'd put it right in the middle, price-wise. It isn't the Ritz and it certainly isn't Motel 6. But it IS worth whatever you pay.
Tell Ashley Dele sent you. That's pronounced like "deal or no deal".
: )
SO close to five stars - this place is really cute. The price is right too - we paid around $100 for a jacuzzi room with a king bed. The room was very cute with wood floors and high end bedding, but was incredibly crowded. It was probably 200 sq. ft. When we arrived we were checked in promptly and offered glasses of red wine, which arrived in our room a few moments later. A very nice touch. Woods Cove beach is right across the street, maybe a 5 minute walk and is small but beautiful and secluded.
The reason I knocked off a star is because the bathroom fixtures in the jacuzzi tub made it nearly impossible to take a jacuzzi or a shower. The handle that turned the water on was so loose it was about to fall off and made it so there was no way to turn the water completely off, and impossible to control the temperature. The stopper for the jacuzzi tub did not fit correctly, so it took forever to fill the tub. The showerhead was also kind of dinky and made it so you had to hug the front wall to get wet. Sort of a waste of a huge shower! But other than those quibbles, which may even be fixed by now, we had a lovely stay.
