We received free tastings from Sycamore resort, the location that we were staying at. Came here and promptly received out four free tastings.
They gave us 5 tastings (normally $10, but they informed us that if you purchase the tasting and a bottle of wine, they will return the amount you paid for the tasting)
Though their "winery trail" is kinda lame, the location is beautiful. The winery is expansive and you can see vineyards surrounding you.
Their sparkling wines are not bad, but I like their cabs and blend the best (they're famous for their pinots, but those weren't my favorite).
Plus, I bought a large bottle of truffle oil for $15! Amazing!!! -

Awful, awful, awful!
Recently on a trip to the area, we asked folks at another winery if they had any suggestions for a place to taste some sparkling wine. They sent us to Laetitia.
Situated five miles north of Santa Maria, it's a little off the beaten path from the other wineries in the Santa Ynez, Los Olivos, Lompoc area...but we made the trek based upon the recommendation.
Now, I know very well that the region isn't known for its sparkling wine, but, again, we got this recommendation, so off we went. Our first clue should have been that the place literally has it's own exit right off the 101 FWY.
Long story short, the sparkling wine is awful...like mix it with orange juice awful.
On a positive note, the place was beautiful, very well attended, and they had live music. -

Not a bad start for the wine trip.
The GF was getting a little antsy o in the car. What a better way to walk and stretch out, then to get a tasting. Laetitia was the first sign we saw and stopped.
The inside was nice and clean. It was rather busy for a rainy day, but we were greeted pretty quickly.
The menu had some interesting choices. The tasting is $10, but waived at a bottle purchase.
Barnwood Grenache
Barnwood Tempranillo
Estate Pinot
Clone Pinot
Clone 828 Pinot
Les Galets Pinot
The Clone Pinot was the one that stood out for me. Big, bold and spicy. We walked away with a bottle of that and a bottle of Grenache Blanc for the GF.
Do I see us joining the club? Nah, but it's not bad for a wine rest stop. -

We stopped here on our way back from LA a few weeks ago. The grounds are pretty amazing. Cool place, nice tasting room. The wines???
The tasting room associates were very proud of their wines. A little too proud, if you ask me. They were bragging about having the most vineyards dedicated to growing Pinot Noir, to which I don't know if this is true or not. So they have the quantity, what about quality? I tried their wines, and I was not that impressed. I've had better Pinot elsewhere. A lot better actually. The Santa Cruz mountains has Pinot that beats this place anyday of the week.
One of the tasting room associates told us a joke while he was pouring for us. He said, "Laetitia makes wine, Napa makes auto parts." OK. I tried their flagship Pinot, which is actually grown in the Santa Cruz mountains, called Mt. Eden, I think. It was whatever. Nothing to write home about.
The Syrah was way too peppery. The Tempranillo was good. We left with a bottle, to waive our tasting fee. -

Absolutely gorgeous and so much fun. We walked around outside while tasting all the sparkling wines. Which were, by the way, all very amazing. The grounds are so pretty as is the interior and its cool you can explore everything while tasting. Would love to return here someday!

ILL NEVER GO BACK. ILL NEVER SPEND ANOTHER DOLLAR ON THIS BRAND. IF YOU ARE A MEMBER OF THE LBGT COMMUNITY SPEND YOUR MONEY ELSEWHERE. I WISH I COULD GIVE NO STARS.
Let me start this review by saying Ive been a fan of this winery for years. My girlfriends and I discovered the 2005 Pinot Noir in a resturant in LA and were hooked. A few of my (straight) friends took trips to the Winery, sang its praises so of course when in the area I had to stop.
I was excited to purchase a case of my favorite wines and bubbles, stock up if you will.
However upon arrival.. we were ignored, avoided and basically cleared the tasting room of any possible employee to provide customer service IF ANY AT ALL.
Finally we got stuck with Darlene.... who walked up and said "do u want a tasting? heres our list."
I brushed her distaste off, maybe she was having a bad day. I shared w Darlene my excitement about being a in the winery where the magical 2005 Pinot Noir came from. Her response was "oh honey... 2005 really? That was a long time ago. We are in our 2009's now."
With that she turned to 2 other (straight) customers and proceeded to give them a tour of the wines explaining EVERYTHING to them. With a smile on her face.
I wasnt going to let Darlene get to me. I wanted to taste the Rose. I did, loved it, and asked my girlfriend to take a taste. As the glass was to her lips Darlene barked "ARE YOU 21?!"
"yes I am, would like to see my ID?" after showing Darlene the ID, Darlene tossed it on back to her on the bar. Didnt even make eye contact.
Need less to say I still bought 2 bottles of rose, 1 bottle of Pinot Noir, and 1 bottle of truffle Oil as a gift. My bill came to $87 dollars even thought the bottles I bought were marked on sale. I asked about the pricing and Darlene insisted the bottles I wanted were not on sale, even though they were. I didnt want to argue, I handed her a $100 bill to which she examined as if I had just printed the money before I walked in.
I would hate to think that my friends and I were treated this way because Darlene Hates Lesbians, or Gays in general Maybe she just had a bad day and took it out on 4 lesbians who were really excited about spending an afternoon and money in her winery. Sucks for her and the winery, I was prepared to purchase a case as well as a Membership but I cant stand behind any business who could treat any customer this way. I had high expectations and left extremely disappointed. Thanks to DARLENE. -

Great Wines (luv the Pinot Noir), and the staff is up on all the information, one is looking for.
You might also want to try the BW Cab (their other label), great wine at an amazing low price too. -

Get over yourselves! After a great two days of tasting, we stopped in before we headed home. We had a coupon from our hotel, and were met with a sneer by the server, who had just announced that she'd been drunk since 11:30 (it was 2:00).
The 6 page tasting menu was overwhelming, and made me feel like I was at the Costco of wineries. When we asked for her advice on what to taste, she laughed and told us her taste wouldn't be the same as ours. Anyone who likes wine probably knows that, but a competent server should know enough to guide the clientele. The other server was a little better, but still not particularly helpful. We were so disgusted, we didn't finish the tasting. Really disappointing after having bought at least two bottles everywhere else we went.
If you're a wine-lover, and like to taste and learn about the wines you're drinking, this is not the place for you. On the other hand, if you're with a big party, or perhaps driving around in a limo or tour bus, trying to hit as many wineries as possible, then this would be a good place to end up. -

Beautiful winery, beautiful grounds, and wonderful wines... what more could you ask for? :-) The pourers were knowledgable and welcoming which was appreciated. We also enjoyed the outdoor area where a duet was singing and comfy chairs were set up for everyone to enjoy.

I've been a club member since 2008, so I'm not exactly the most objective, but I'm still a member and I still love their wine. Being on the pick-up list gives me a great excuse to go over and visit their stunning estate all the time, and very rare is the trip to the central coast that I don't stop in. They are so far my first and only wine club, and got me on my first visit.
Their specialties are a wide variety of sparkling and pinot wines, and they know how to do them right. Nearly everything, from the cheaper Barnwoods to the priciest single-vineyard pinots, are pleasing to my palate - I prefer strong, dry, earthy wines, and Laetitia makes plenty, though they produce some of the sweeter and lighter variety as well. La Colline is an absolute revelation, and everything is worth savoring.
A victim of their own success, in summer late afternoons the tasting room can often become full and boisterous, to the point that you lose the personal touch behind the bar, and even checking out will be delayed. The back room is always open for lounging and taking in the great air, and fantastic views of rolling hills covered in vines are just a step away. Some of the pinot can also be a bit heavy for those long hot August days, but if you love what they do, you'll get something out of it anyway.
If you're ever traveling up 101 in the area, stop in: it's worth beating the traffic.

This is ONE of our favorite wineries, and there are a few. The Pinot Niors are some of the best we have had.. All the wines here are excellent. The tasting room is beautiful, The grounds are gorgeous. The staff is friendly and very knowledgeable. My most comfortable Yoga pants are from here.
My only problem is that the wine is too good. I cannot get out without buying a bottle or two of delicious wine that costs more than I am used to paying but mmm-mm, worth it when I open the bottle. They are some times crowded but the staff always makes time to make us feel welcome.Listed in: Wine tasting

Didn't feel quite welcome when my gf and I first stepped into the quaint tasting room. Both of the tasting counters were crowded, but as we searched for an opening in the crowd and made eye contact with a couple different servers (both older), we were not acknowledged in any way and felt like it was going to be a wasted trip. I love wine tasting, but not purely just to drink the stuff...I like the experience of talking to the folks there and learning some things about them and the winery.
However, as we were eventually helped by a younger guy named Hassan, we had a really great experience. He was engaging, knowledgable and friendly..maybe it's because he had once lived in the Bay Area (why would you leave, man?!)
Wines to note:
Cuvee M is wonderful. Almost better than Mumm's. I could drink it any day, all day.
Pinot Noirs. There is entire menu devoted to them as much of their production is devoted to that varietal. I am personally not a big fan of pinot noir but there are a couple on their menu that are 90+ pointers and are definitely worth a taste if it's what you like.
The grounds are beautiful. We came while it was all barren but it still looked lovely. I can only imagine how amazing it looks during harvest season.
If you're coming from the north on 101, you'll have to turn left at a turn lane on the freeway and as a visitor, it sounds fricking crazy, but thankfully signage is great so it's pretty hard to miss it. -

I took a friend's only kid off to college, then I took the mom here to numb a little of the pain.
Had to play a little chicken crossing the 101 north from the 101 south to get to the other side. Snapped some photos of the seemingly vast vineyard before actually making it up to the tasting room.
Mom had never been wine tasting before, so this had the potential to be quite interesting.
We did a $10 5-taster from their sparkling wine to the pinot blanc to one of their pinot noirs down to their muscat. I was most impressed with their 2007 petit syrah and my friend ended up buying a bottle of the pinot blanc.
Erik was our gracious host juggling about 10 of us at a time most effortlessly.
I didn't drink everything that was poured for me. I actually TASTED most of my wines since I was driving. But I could tell proud college mom was easing a little bit of the empty nest sting as were some of the women there that were playing hookie from work.
This little vineyard seemed to have a lot of wines with big personality unlike some of the little wineries I've been to say in Edna Valley or the Willamette Valley.
Hopefully, next time I won't be the DD and I'll partake in quite a bit more. -

Laetitia Vineyards in Arroyo Grande is dedicated to Burgundian varietals and their sister vinyards under the name of Barnwood is dedicated to Bordeau and Rhone varietals. The "fruits" of this dedication come together here, at the Winery tasting room and shop, just off US 101 in Arroyo Grande.
True to the famed varietal of the region, Laetitia has some excellent Pinot Noirs, that delicate and finicky varietal so difficult to master, but perfect for the California central coast with its fog induced cooler weather. Laetitia has 413 acres of Pinot Noir grapes and 10 clones.
In the tasting room you can taste any 5 for $10, or the fee is waived with a purchase of 2 bottles. They also have a great wine club, with specials and discounted prices, with focus on a vareital or a mixed bag.
We tried the 2008 Estate Pinot Noir, rich and medium bodied, but with hints of pomegranate, cherries and an earthy cola and smoke. $25 retail.
The 2007 Reserve du Domain Pinot Noir (92pts Wine Enthusiast, retail $40) had boysenberries and smokey mushroom earthiness.
The 2006 Single Vineyard La Colline (93 pts Wine Enthusiast, retail $60) had bold rose and cherry flavors from its single vineyard bottling.
The 2006 Single Viineyard La Coupelle (retail $60) is complex with layered flavors of berries, pepper, mushrooms, with an effortless lingering on the palate.
We enjoyed the 2005 Nadia Red, a Bourdeaux blend from the Santa Barbara highlands, combining a Cab Sav, Merlot and Cab Franc. ($35 retail, a Reserve Grand Champion at 2010 Houston competition)
The Winery has a handful of dessert wines (Muscat, late harvest Riesling, Port), sparkling wines (Brut de Blancs, Coquard, Cuvee, de Noirs, and Rose), and white wines, including Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay Reserve, Roussanne, Pinot Gris and Reisling.
Staff is knowledgable and pleasant, in a relaxed atmosphere. -

We stayed at the Seacrest Resort for a girls weekend getaway and this winery had a display in their lobby boasting a shuttle picking up guests of the resort and taking them to their winery for a complimentary tasting.
We apparently missed the 3pm shuttle by ZERO minutes.. so we ended up driving ourselves to the winery.
The tasting room was packed. After some time we were finally greeted. We did get the complimentary tasting but weren't impressed with the wines like the ones we tried up in Paso Robles. Maybe it was the fact that we really didn't miss the shuttle either but that it just left without waiting during the time they said they'd stop by.
The grounds are beautiful and a nice place to have a picnic or some other event.
Unfortunately, chances are we won't be back. -

Laetitia is a beautiful winery in Arroyo Grande and is easy to get to on the way to SLO! We stopped by on our way to Pismo Beach and were glad that we did. The grounds are gorgeous, a smaller winery but it was very quaint. We enjoyed the tables out in the lawn area. The tasting was $9.99 for 5 wines and we were given 5 tickets which I thought was a bit cheesy but the guy said they were doing that since it might be busy due to the holidays. I liked how the Pinot Noir, which they are known for were being poured outside.
The staff inside the tasting room was very friendly except for an older guy who didn't say anything to me and opted to serve the older people that were next to me. yeah, I'm young but I know my wines! All in all, if you don't feel like driving into the wineries in SLO, this is a very nice winery to visit. -

This place was on the last stop for the day, and it was really nice to step in to this winery, ample parking and just outside their door they had a live band playing and a few tables to have a glass of wine and listen to live music and great scenery of the Arroyo Grande Landscape.
Tried the following Sparkling Wines:
2005 Laetitia Brut Coquard - Really Smooth/Lovely Sparkling Wine
2005 Laetitia Cuvee M - Tried it but never noted how well it was
Laetitia Non-Vintage Brut Cuvee - Cannot wrap my head around this one.
2006 Laetitia Brut De Noirs - Dry, just too dry for my taste
2006 Laetitia Brut Rose - Ok but still dry for me
Laetitia Non-Vintage XD - Nice as can be for sure...
Laetitia & Barnwood White Wines:
2009 Barnwood Sauvignon Blanc - Good
2009 Laetitia Pinot Gris - Good too
2009 Laetitia Pinot Blanc - Good as well, but I think by this time I am buzzed again
2008 Barnwood Merlot - Dry
2007 Barnwood Petite Sirah - Good and light
2008 Laetitia Syrah - Very Dry
2008 Barnwood Cabernet Sauvignon - It was okay.
This place has a real good size tasting room and gift shop all in one. So if your come across this place, stop by and enjoy it if you get the chance. -

Quite impressed with this wine tasting room and a few of the varietals. I'm glad my Mom and I were able to get a little tasting in on our way home from SB. There were 2 tasting menus with the Reserve for $10 - 6 tastes and 6 Complmentary tastings of their wine that is availble at markets and restaurants. My Mom opted for the Reserve list as she would and I opted for the complimentary tasting. This way we would be able to try 12 wines...
I was impressed with their single vintage Pinot Noirs and Chardonnay. My Mom loved the Brut de Noir 2004. She picked up a few bottles and I picked up soe locally made beef jerkey. Good times! -

A great place to stop in the summer along 101 with an extensive array of border flowers along the road leading to the nearby winery.
Purchase a chilled 2008 Laetitia Estate Pinot Gris.
Sit on a wooden bench with the sun on your back.
Open a box of Trader Joe's Multigrain Savory Thins.
Slice your favorite cheese.
For an extra treat cut up a chilled watermelon plum from a Farmer's Market.

For my first every wine tasting event @ a winery, I enjoyed myself. They had a huge wine list to choose from which was good for me b/c I only like the sweet wines. Don't do reds and didn't know which ones to try.
You get to taste 5 wines for $9.99. We arrived on a Weds afternoon so it wasn't crowded. We were able to meander the premises to view a real wine press and old photos of the wine making process. Nothing really caught our attention as far as a memorable, must purchase wine but we appreciated the knowledgeable & pleasant staff. -

Do you love sparkling wine? I like sparkling wine A LOT.
Laetitia is one of the only sparkling wine producers on the central coast with roots that reach all the way to France (the original winery was Maison Deutz owned by a Frenchy).
As a central coast lover, I rarely spend a weekend there without making a pilgrimage to Laetitia. I love the sparkling tasting and leisurely enjoy my 5 sparkling wines in the comfy Adirondack chairs on the grassy patio. Their friendly cat enjoys hanging out there, too!
Laetitia also makes the "regular" central coast non-sparkling wines (Pinot, Chardonnay, Syrah) and has another label (Barnwood) with some great wines from Santa Barbara County. I can't speak to those very well as I prefer to imbibe the sparkling. It's likely that I've purchased over 20 bottles of their XD. I wonder if that means something?
It can get fairly crowded on the weekends, but the staff is so friendly and accommodating that you needn't worry. -

Came here on my way to Avila Beach, and did a little wine tasting. I was with a member of the place so wine tasting was free, if you are not a or with a member its $10. The $10 fee is waived if you buy 2 bottle of wine. You were allowed to sample 5, but the worker there kept pouring me wine, so I had about 8 samples. Ended up getting a bottle of Brut Champagne, cause it was on a summer sale, originally priced at $34, I got it for $17. The place is beautiful, great wine, helpful staff, its a great place to visit.

This is a great little stop if you ever find yourself driving up 101 North from Central/Southern California.
Although, getting here can get a little tricky since there's no real exit. You have to drive on the emergency lane for a quarter mile before the entrance.
Otherwise, you'll miss it or have to careen into a crazy right turn. I've done both.
Not fun.
They have a very good selection of reds but their pride and joy is their Pinot Noir. They had several Pinots to choose from and I liked them all. I ended up buying one of each just to be on the safe side.
What was surprising was the bubbly (which we got a couple of bottles).
If you ever find yourself out there and like Pinot Noir, this is a nice place off the beaten path to try.
Don't do too too much tasting since getting back on the "Freeway" can also get a little tricky.

Contrary to the earlier reviews of this winery, they have now instituted a minimal fee for tasting: 5 wines for $10. For a case of wine purchased, they will credit part of the fee. We heard the tasting room manager tell one couple that if they purchased a case, he would credit them $10, leaving them with $10 unrefunded since they had to pay $20 for two people.
On the other hand, my wife told him that she did not want to taste the wines except for a particular pinot noir that she wished to purchase. We had been introduced to this wine by a relative who bought it at a Southern California Costco. Because we were unable to find the same stuff at our local Costco, we were both surprised and pleased to discover the winery as we were driving up Highway 101, returning to our Northern California home. She was allowed to taste the wine without a fee; she purchased a half-case and everybody was happy.
The tasting room is large, with vinegars and olive oils for sale in addition to a wide range of wines, both red and white, some with the Laetitia label and some with Barnwood and Nadia labels. Wine tours stop here and if you are there when a tour arrives, don't expect personalized service or attention. Lovely views, picnic tables. First class place to stop if you like wine. -

The last stop of the day, we stopped in for a quick tasting on the way up to Paso last Friday. On Fridays you get a list of five wines you can taste at no charge, so that was a nice surprise. The tasting room was extremely busy, but the friendly pourer managed to take care of us and even let me taste a couple of different options. The n/v Brut sparkling wine was really good, the pinot gris was solid, the Pinot Noirs were excellent. If this had not been the last stop I would have definately bought something.
The winery and vineyards are very scenic. Tons of hillside vineyards and wonderful views. It was the type of place you really want to slow down and spend some time at.
My only critiques are the list of wines being a little much. With the sparkling wines, the multiple pinots, chards, pinot gris, pinot blanc, barnwood wines, and nadia wines... the choices are a little overwhelming if they don't lay it out for you. Also, with the winery being on Hwy 101 I'm sure it is always busy. Probably a little hard to get an intimate experience in the tasting room unless you book something in advance. With those things in mind, this could easily rate five stars... I'll look forward to coming back. -

The service was excellent - and I walked in the door for a taste 30 minutes prior to closing and on the evening of a winemakers dinner. They did not rush me out and let me have a double taste on the $60 Pinot Noir so I could be certain I wanted to purchase.
They definitely got my business and in the future will be given my recommendation whey I have discussions with others on wines of that area.
Alternatively, avoid Wild Heart Winery in Los Olivos. I had the absolute opposite experience there earlier the same day. I was alone in the tasting room with the owner and had terrible customer service and the smallest pours (so small I actually could not taste the wine). Suffice it to say, even if their $34 wine had been really good (which it was really just okay) - the owner's lack of attention ruined the experience. Stay away from Wild Heart - spend the extra time at Laetitia. -

I love the Les Galet and La Colline here. $60 bottles, but they are uuh-mazing! I enjoy wine tasting here. Me and my friend come out here to taste, buy, and even picnic. Their picnic spot has a beautiful view of the vineyard and hwy 101. the staff is usually friendly and helpful, except for the last time we were there. They usually let us borrow their wine openers for us to take out to the picnic area, but this time the guy helping us said he had to open our wines for us. When I showed him my bottle, he practically threw the opener at me and said I had to do it on my own because it wasn't a Laetitia brand wine. Then he practically ignored me after. Me and my friends have spent $$ here in the past few years. My best friend even has a membership there. This one time we didn't buy a bottle, but did have a group wine tasting, we get treated this way. Unacceptable! Well thanks for the souvenir (wine opener) ass!

Laetitita is a nice place to stop while driving on the 101. It's situated right off the freeway in Arroyo Grande, near Edna Valley and about halfway between Santa Ynez and Paso Robles if you're wine tasting in any of those areas. Laetitia's focus is on Burgundian varietals, particularly Pinot Noir. The way the Arroyo Grande valley runs east-west channels in cool air from the ocean, making it an ideal climate for these types of wine. However, they also produce Methode Champenois sparkling wines; historically this vineyeard was Maison Deutz and sparkling is all they used to do. Now that it is Laetitia they still produce the sparkling although this is no longer their focus. I think their pinots are OK, but I actually like their sparkling the best. The brut rose and the extra dry (XD) are my favorites.

We stopped off the freeway to visit this winery. The tasting room in nicely decorated and there is relaxing patio seating to drink wine or have a snack. Rosa helped us and she was really nice. If you like full body wine I wouldn't recommend there whites are reds. The taste a bit watered down or that the grapes have not fermented long enough. There sparkling wines are Yummy! Go for those! Tastings were only $10 and the wine was moderately priced.
