11 reviews for Lady Luck Hair Parlour
So, I walked out of there thinking that it was the best haircut I'd ever had, but I wanted to wait a while before writing this review to see if the haircut held up and my impression remained. Well, it sure did!
It's been 2 weeks since my cut and it's still the BEST cut I've ever had. I don't know how Sarai did it, but she was able to cut in layers in such a way that I can style my hair to look smooth yet it still has tons of volume. My hair appears so much thicker! It's such a versatile cut, too. I can style it all different ways and it's so much fun to work with. The color was also fabulous. I was able to just describe what I wanted and she delivered.
OK, aside from the cut and color, which is the most important aspect of a good salon experience, I must say that I just loved it here. It's like no salon I've ever been to before, and I mean that in a good way! It's just fun, quirky, eccentric and magical...sort of like an old Wild West saloon/brothel that also does hair. Really great staff, too. I just loved Sarai. Hilariously funny, irreverent and outgoing--she will keep you entertained!
And the price? I just moved here from DC and for only $20 more than I was used to paying for JUST a haircut I got a haircut AND partial highlights. That made me very happy. But really, nothing made me as happy as how my hair looked when I left the salon. I can't wait to go back to my crazy, favorite hairhouse!
When my ex-stylist moved to Texas three years ago, I wanted to cry. She was perfect and I thought I'd never find anyone again that was as good as she was. Since then, I've tried out several salons and had many bad haircuts from mediocre stylists.
I tried out Lady Luck on a whim--I'd driven by it several times and was intrigued by the cool artwork and decor. I finally tried it out and I'm so glad I did! Sarai is awesome--she knows her stuff! She suggested a cut and also color that was great for my type of hair. I haven't been this happy with a cut in a long time. I dig the dry haircut--your hair is heavier and longer when it's wet, so when it's cut dry you know exactly how it's going to look.
The salon has an awesome retro feel to it and features photos from a local photographer. I felt right at home as soon as I walked in. The prices are reasonable, the hours are accommodating and they sell unique product lines that I haven't seen in many salons.
Finally my search for the perfect salon is over. If you're looking for a new stylist then definitely give them a call! And if you're really lucky, you may get to meet Loki, one of the cutest dogs in KC! ;)
Don't go here. Unless you want an unprofessional staff and butchered hair.
My mom asked me to find a hair salon and make an appointment for her cuz her stylist moved to texas. I'll try to keep my review short since it's based on her hair cut, not mine.
*phone call is impossible cuz the background noise is so loud (they shoud turn the music down or something)
*easy to find
*they don't wash your hair before cutting it (strange... i mean isn't it easier to cut when it's wet?)
*the cut was good - chic and simple
*salon is small but cute
it was impressive for KC
If I need to, I'll come here for a hair cut but only if i don't find anyplace better
Luckily for me I have many hair stylists in my family but like any other thing in life sometimes when you need something done and done right now your family may not be so reliable, especially since I am an instant gratification type of person.
I live right near Lady Luck so the convenience is great. Its a really cool salon on the inside. They feature local artists on their walls that you can actually purchase. The atmosphere is cool and laid back, kind of also reminds me of a tattoo salon also. The stylists are really alternative and can do some really funky styles. Whatever you dream up they probably can do. Also the cuts are really affordable, I don't know about the color though. Someplace you should definitely try out if you are looking for a new salon.
I moved to KC a few years back, and I went through a LOT of stylists at quite a few different salons. I guess I'm just picky, but nobody was working out for me. If i liked the haircut, i didn't like the professionalism or personality of the stylist. If I thought the stylist should be my new best friend, the haircut sucked.
Then one day I went to Lady Luck, and I had found my new home. Kelley Blonde has cut my hair for a couple of years now, and she always does a great job. I'm one of those people who have a hard time describing exactly what I want in a hair cut, and she is great at interpreting my ramblings into an awesome look. She also does an awesome little neck massage thing when she's washing your hair.
I can be a difficult client. I never want to make an appointment, prefering to just try and get squeezed in once my hair is impossibly shaggy and I have a few free hours. Kelley always manages to work me in.
The conversation is always good, and typically more than a little salty. Everyone on staff is insanely friendly and sassy at the same time, and drinking beer while getting your hair cut is definitely a nice bonus.
I love love love Lady Luck!
I love every minute of this place, from the cute, trendy name & location to the name of my hairdresser- Kelley Blonde (she was practically born into the industry ;) ), yea!
I met Kelley at my restaurant when I mentioned I was in dire need of a new hair stylist...she came to the rescue, big time! I have long long long hair and was only charged 40 bucks for a cut AND blow dry. I'm use to paying 65 for those kind of services, so it was a very pleasant surprise.
I also went in one day to get bangs and she didn't charge me at all, and did a great job! The good conversation is also a bonus. I look forward to my next visit- maybe layers!? ;)
Having just left Pittsburgh, where the same girl cut my hair for three and a half years, I've been a little lost in KC. Fortunately I met Kelley (the owner) through some friends, and made an appointment with her.
So I might have had a few reservations about being a guy and going into a place called 'Lady Luck', but they were erased as soon as I walked in and was offered a beer. I mean, how sweet is that? Then Kelley did a great job cutting my hair, using a straight blade the entire time. However long I end up staying in KC, I think I know where I'll be getting my hair cut.
We've been in KC for about 8 months now and hadn't found anywhere really suitable. A bad hair day forced us to finally find somewhere local and this place certainly fits the bill. I had my hair cut by Sarai, a striking, tattooed & razor wielding bundle of energy with blue streaks who also happens to do a very fine hair cut. The beer on arrival is a nice touch, and the next day I found myself recommending the place to friends and colleagues.
Not a barbers shop or a supercuts, gents start at $30 and the ladies at $40.
Tip: get your cut right before a big night out as this place will energize you.
Men or women this place can make you look like a star. Excellent staff of friendly and fun stylists. Fun atmosphere and always good music playing.
There's a fine line when writing a bad review where one can cross into personal slander territory. I'll try to stay away from that and I have nothing against the Lady Luck establishment just how my last haircut turned out. I'm not a regular there so when setting an appointment I was given whoever was available and that was my mistake. The guy I was stuck with had only been working there two weeks and among other things had a buzz cut which in my opinion is tantamount to having a blind optometrist. The fact that it felt like he was taking a hatchet to my head will (unjustly?) lead me to never get my hair cut by a straight guy ever again. The place has a very cool vibe and I'm sure they have plenty of talented stylists but I'll never go back as it seemed they aren't setting the bar high enough for employment requirements.
