10 reviews for La Torta Sabrosa
This place by far has the best tortas I've ever tasted. I stumbled upon this gem when my roommate brought one home and I nearly fainted from the waft of deliciousness strolling my way.
I get the Pavo (turkey) with everything on it and they have a special going on when u buy a torta, you get a free agua fresca.
Of course the lady was effing rude when I A) didn't know about the promotion.
B) she didn't offer it to me
C) I asked her about it and she lied by saying she handed it to me
Then she says that I should've asked for it... um, how can I ask for something I don't know about?!
She seriously needs an attitude adjustment and customer service skills.
Jaime, the owner, is just the latest reason I love my neighborhood and my city. It starts, but does not end, with his seriously good tortas. I mean really good. My boiled chicken with lettuce and tomato packed between two slices of grilled bolillo pretty much earned him five stars already.
It was his attitude and attentiveness that has me looking for the sixth star. Loved, loved loved how he took my cues of no mayo or avocado to ask if I wanted butter on the bread. I smiled as I said no, and thanked him for picking up on that. That got us talking, and he told me about how he'd offer beans (the one thing missing) but that requires another permit, and how he has some ideas for new ideas. You could tell his heart and soul was in this place.
Before leaving he asked if I wanted to try a chicken specialty he was working on. I was warned it was spicy, but I went ahead anyway. Yep, spicy, and when he saw my reaction he raced to get a bottle of water out of the fridge. No charge he said. I thanked him but couldn't take that, he should sell it, so instead he poured me a little glass of milk to alleviate the lingering spice. Worked like a charm.
Excellent tortas, humble, genuine and friendly service, and even a remedy for a burning mouth. Jaime and Torta Sabrosa are a true gem.

I'm really surprised to see only 7 reviews of this place. The owner is so nice and the food is really fresh, inexpensive and tasty. None of the portions are tiny but the Torta Cubana is huge, and can easily be both your lunch and your dinner. If that's not your thing there are plenty of fresh juice choices and meal choices that even include traditional American sandwiches. I think these tortas are definitely some of the best I have ever had.

I have to give this place 5 stars, since it's my first torta...mmmm, tortas! I ordered the carnitas and it was HUGE! and yummy; could only eat half and save the rest for later. The folks working there are very nice and everything is fresh and made to order. Next time, I will try an aqua and get the cubano torta.
Gracias, from a gringa

My coworker said "Torta", and I had a flashback to my childhood. Those were the only things I would eat at a mexican restaurant back then. Only I remember them being tastier.....
Not that this place was bad. The food was fresh, and the service was good, but my carne asada torta was lacking in flavor. I had to add hot sauce to make it interesting.
It's not a great place for groups, I came with 3 of my coworkers and there was pretty much only bar space against the wall. I felt like we were all in trouble and standing in the corner, as the bar space only gave about 10 inches of eating space.
I may give this place another try in the future in hopes of higher flavor content.

Not the best tortas I've had, but they're pretty good. I ordered the carnitas, and husband got carne asada. Huge sandwiches for about $5-7. They come with tomatoes, onions, jalapenos, lettuce, cheese, and mayo or sour cream. Make sure you get the oaxaca cheese. It has a similar texture and taste to string cheese. I remember taking my first bite into my torta, and as I pulled away the cheese stretched to maximum length. A customer in line saw this occurrence, and I immediately saw envy in his eyes. I really liked the bread, and it was grilled in a panini press leaving it slightly crispy on the outside but soft and chewy inside. La Torta Sabrosa gets 3.5 stars from me. It would be 4 stars, but I had to bring it down a notch for their meat. I like my carne asada to be a bit more flavorful, and carnitas didn't seem fresh. Both meats were pulled already cooked, and reheated on the grill.

I've been here a few times and I'm addicted.
The decor is bright and cheerful, the prices are great, and the tortas are fresh and delicious. Why pay $2 extra for crema and guacamole on your burrito when you can get it on a huuuge torta for no extra cost? $4.50 for the pavo makes a good cheap tasty meal.
The fruit salads and fresh juices also look delicious but I regret to say that I have not tried them.

Dios Mio for me this my 1st restaurant review so here goes.
I discovered this place during the Summer when I was chilling with my friend Victor (Rastrillo) and passed by there and had a great selection of authentic Mexican Tortas here in La Mision. I think we might have been this Restaurant's Torteria's 1st customers.
Being a frequent vistante Here is a review from Mexicano/Chicano. The tortas I had were de Pollo and the second time a Torta Cubana, their aguas (Waters) such as de fresa (Strawberry) y Melon are pretty good, but have yet to try the ice cream.
I went to the original La Torta Loca in S. San Francisco and like it's small franchise branch it lived up to expectations.
To most of the gente out there I would highly recommend this Restaurant
especially those who want authentic or close authentic Mexican Tortas in which most of the Mexican Taquerias seem to disappoint, because their Tortas are all mushed up, not toasted, y grasoso (Greasy)
Since then me and my carnal (Brother) have returned repeatedly to this place that we hold dear in our heart.
Ah, the first review of a new restaurant! These guys just opened shop a few days ago -- I discovered them on my afternoon stroll to the 23rd BART station.
The main feature of this restaurant is "Mexican Style Tortas" (sandwiches), and they also feature a wide array of fresh-squeezed juices. The ebullient owner intercepted me when I stuck my head through the door, and insisted on showing me the different types of food they were making and walking me through how they make their food, and generally doing his best to convert a curious visitor to a customer. Smart guy.
I ended up getting a Carne Asada sandwich, and it was exactly what I was looking for -- a cross between a burrito and a deli sandwich. Satisfying, a little greasy, good. It reminded me of the sandwiches I enjoyed during my travels in central america last year. Definitely not health food, but a good indulgence now and then.
Enthusiastic management, good food, and a somewhat different offering than the other fast-food spots on mission add up to a 4-star review from this Yelper.

i'm pro torta, and anti panini.
seriously, what are paninis if nothing other than bourgy tortas. take a look outside of tartine on guerrero and you'll see what i mean. nothing but camel toes, cat balls, fixies and paninis.
the cubana has been a solid choice for nfl sundays.
