First, let me say THE FOOD IS EXCELLENT HERE. It is in fact the best homestyle Italian cuisine I have had in the North End. La Summa is a cozy, exposed-brick room with a fireplace. When you walk in there is a bookshelf filled with family photos, which I loved. It has a slight feeling of being in someone's home, which is not entirely superficial - La Summa is family owned and operated. I much prefer this kind of Italian restaurant than the more upscale nouveau trattorias and definitely more than the overpriced tourist traps with lines down Hanover Street. It's on a side street right off Hanover, easy to walk to.

We made a reservation, but didn't need it, though we were there early-ish (7 pm) on a Thursday. It got pretty crowded around 9 and stayed that way.

I've lived in Boston eight years. Not very long, but long enough to know to choose restaurants in the North End based on reviews of the food.  Randomly choosing a place to eat has never gotten me a good meal in the North End or any Italian neighborhood in the US, and restaurant websites are often misleading. Additionally, I try to stay off Hanover Street unless it is for pizza.

At La Summa, the sauces are fantastic. The only time I order pasta at a restaurant is at a place like this. It's all about the sauces! I highly recommend the pappardelle e melanzane (wide semolina noodles sauteed in a tomato-based sauce with eggplant) and the gnocchi was the freshest I've ever had - you could taste the potato, and again, the sauce was fabulous.

The wine list is small but has a decent selection of Italian wines in a varied price range ($28-90) from all different regions. It would be nice if they would add a more affordable Piemonte option, like a Barbera d'Alba.

The waitstaff was cheerful and attentive. The only reason I don't give La Summa more stars is that the kitchen was very slow. We got our appetizer fairly quickly (the arancini, which was ok but a bit overcooked) but then waited 30-40 minutes for our main course. Not being a weekend night or an occasion to have a long, drawn out dinner, this was not good for us. Luckily we had a good bottle of wine and some bread and evoo to tide us over. Other than that one glitch, the positive reviews I'd read were accurate, and it was nice to dine in a place where the four of us could hear each other well enough to talk and catch up, and the North End is always vibrant and a lovely walk with lots of beautiful buildings and history.

I highly recommend La Summa.

We went to La Summa after reading great reviews on yelp, and were highly impressed! The last couple of times we went to the North End, we went blind, with no restaurant recommendations--big mistake. We got overpriced mediocre food. Thanks to reading the reviews on this place, we had a much better dinner.

La Summa is a step above in taste, and lower in price than many other neighboring restaurants. I had the manicotti, and it was incredible! The pasta was made fresh, and the sauce and cheese filling were delicious (I assume they were also made fresh).

As you walk into the restaurant they have a bookshelf filled with family photos, instead of the usual hostess station. It was a neat touch. It's not super fancy, but the food is awesome. I'd wholeheartedly recommend it!

If I had a Nonna that cooked food for me, this is what I imagine it would taste like.

I like La Summa because it doesn't try to be trendy and modern.  It's good, old-fashioned food made by hard-working people.  It doesn't try to be a tourist spot and I appreciate La Summa for that.  I can go there when I want and get a table.  I can hold a conversation without yelling.  I can leave without my wallet getting emptied on some modern interpretation of food that is beautiful and delicious the way it has been for years.

I love that I feel like the people there really have pride in their place and stick to good, solid dishes.  They are always full of flavor, authentic, and delicious.

Great service, great prices, great food.

The food was excellent!! I got the fettuchini alfredo.. Best pasta and sauce that I have ever had. They actually make their own pasta. It is quaint and family owned which i also love. The staff is really nice. There was also a guy going around playing the guitar and singing in italian to tables which was pretty cool. Also, a plus is that if you pay in cash you receive 10% off the bill. There was one downside that i noticed. When my boyfriend and I were finished eating we had to wait more than 10 minutes for the bill and then once we received the bill and were ready to pay we had to wait more then another 10 minutes for the waiter to return which was frustrating. This is why i rated 4 instead of 5 stars. Overall great place.

A lovely, warm little place off the beaten path in the north end. Food was fresh and delicious, especially the arancini and manicotti. YUM.
We were not rushed, well-attended and very happy with the whole experience. And the prices-very reasonable. Worth a  try!

I took my parents here last time they were in town. I was expecting great things after reading the reviews here, but I have to say I was disappointed. The prices, service, and atmosphere were all good, but the food was average at best. It wasn't bad, but I have definitely had better in the North End. Only 1 out of our 4 dishes was memorable in any way. That was the eggplant pappardelle, which was tasty I must admit. I won't be going back here, there's too many places in the North End with better food.

Comfortable like your grandma's house. I mean literally. There's a random bookshelf full of old-looking photo frames right in your face as soon as you open the door. Why can't they move that back like 5 inches?

Anyways. Despite the old-ish decor, and old-ish crowd to match, this place has what everyone looks for in this part of town - some good-ass Italian food. I came here with the parental units who were in town, as well as the bf. We got 2 apps and 3 entrees (2 of which my mom, dad and I shared) and this was more than enough food. We also had a great, inexpensive bottle of Chianti - a must-have with Italian, of course.

The food.
-Caprese was large, very good cheese and decent quality tomatoes. Yummy basil.
-Stuffed mushroom app was awesome. The bf even liked it and he doesn't prefer to have mushrooms most of the time!
-Pappardelle with eggplant...oh yeah, this is where it's at. What a unique meal. The pasta was made and cooked with perfection. I typically don't love larger pastas, but this wasn't dense like fettucini can be...it was light and complimented the eggplant wonderfully.
-Fusilli was also cooked well, and although a simple dish with just their homemade sauce, it 100% should not be overlooked. The sauce with the pasta and wine all joined forces in my body and I thought for a brief fleeting moment that I was in Italy.
-bf got a seafood dish that he really liked.

No room for dessert, but that's what Vittoria is for. In any case, a great place to take parents, and a place to share food as the portions are huge. Will I be back, or will my propensity for being hip prevent me?...TBD.

My husband and I are native Bostonians and grew up taking great Italian food for granted---that is until we moved to the DC Metro area!  We discovered La Summa about  5 years ago when we made a return visit to Boston.  Now it has become a must-do restaurant when we're in town.

The pastas are homemade and always very fresh.  The sauce is also homemade and very flavorful.  Twice we've ordered the soup of the day and both times have been quite impressed.  One time it was chicken soup which featured big pieces of white meat, plenty of vegetables and flavorful broth.  This time it was pasta e fagioli and oh my!  How delicious!  It tasted truly homemade with lots of stock and a great, peppery broth.

One of my favorite dishes is pappardelle e melanzane.  It has thick, wide noodles with large chunks of eggplant.  My only complaint is the portion is huge!  My husband likes the Gamberi.  It consists of large shrimp and linguine in a tasty tomato sauce.

I wish we had room for dessert after eating one of their delicious meals.  After all, I've heard that they have delicious desserts.

This last time we were pleased that we got a chance to let the owner know just how much we like the food.  We also let her know that we always recommend her place to others.  She was pleased to hear that.

So...in conclusion...I think that living in the DC Metro area has taught me to never take great Italian food for granted and to truly appreciate it when I find it!  Give La Summa a try!

A comfortable, not so trendy place, where what really sold me was the meal. The stuffed mushrooms appetizer was to die for, and I don't even like mushrooms. I ordered the Pappardelle con melanzane for an entree and it was amazing, blew me away. Also the Falesco Sangiovese was the best wine I'd had in a long time.

Only thing that put me off was we felt like we were being rushed out, but I was tipsy so I didn't care too much.

LOVE La Summa. Always my first recommendation when people ask me where to go for dinner in the North End. The food is delicious, the prices reasonable, the staff friendly, and it's not on Hanover Street, which is a bonus.

The first time I went here it was with my college Italian class. Our professor was from Rome, and hand-picked La Summa for our "field trip" out of all the other restaurants in the neighborhood. I figured that had to be a good sign.

More recently, I went for dinner with my dad and ate the most delicious stuffed manicotti I've ever tasted. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive, answered all our questions about various menu items, and even gave us tips about which wine to get. I only wish I had eaten there more, especially considering I used to live right across the street. Regardless, I will definitely be going back!

One of my favorite restaurants. I haven't been in awhile - took my parents. They loved it!  Very reasonable; we all had veal which at $19.95 is the most expensive item ( I think).  The veal special is outstanding- the sauce really makes the dish.  As others have mentioned, the portions are huge!  Each veal dish was enough for 2 ppl.   The rice balls are not to be missed.

Not sure if it's a regular thing, but on a Sat. night they had 3 musicians strolling around the restaurant as well.

Um, I am not sure if it's because my fiances uncle always takes us to amazing restaurants in the greater Boston area and I have high expectations for places he suggests, or if I couldn't taste as well because I was catching a cold, but... I really was not impressed by this place at all and I am fairly shocked by the high rating here on yelp.

It wasn't that I had a particularly terrible time there, it's just that I didn't really enjoy anything I was served. It was completely without nuance and bordered on flavorless, in my opinion. The manicotti I had tasted like the Lasagna I can get down the street from my house at very simple cafe and looked sort of like Italian enchiladas. There was no richness like I am used to in manicotti, it was just very one-dimensional.  The bruschetta appetizer was nearly soggy everywhere except the crust, the deep fried risotto balls (I forget the technical name), had cheese in the center which was kind of interesting. It didn't taste good enough for me to be overwhelmed by that idea though, they were also kind of mushy.

We were practically the only guests in there and the service was fairly slow. This didn't contribute to my unenjoyable experience, but worth noting I guess. However, our waitress and back waiter were both very nice and accommodating.

I've definitely had much better Italian food though, sorry La Summa.

I have been going here for years, and have recommended it to loads of people. I love everything on the menu.

The key feature is the home-made pasta. The meat dishes are great because they all have perfect gravy, you can tell everything is cooking in broilers for hours. My only problem with it is the bread, they need to get a better bread in there and serve it warm.

Nice warm, dark interior, loads of fun to knock down a bottle of wine...

enjoy

I came here because of the reviews on yelp.  I have been to the North End multiple times, but this was beyond my expectations.  The family operated restaurant makes you feel warm and welcome, the decor is elegant, but not stuffy.

The food was by far the best I have ever had in the North End.  La Summa feels like a hidden gem as it's tucked down a winding street.

My party and I had the Caprese Salad and Stuffed Artichoke for an appetizer and both were mouth watering good.  For dinner I had the pasta with stuffed calamari and it was so delicious.  The other two in my party had the fruiti del mar, and a pasta special.

We loved it so much we kept talking about it all week.  I can't wait to go again!

Lovely homey place to eat dinner!  The service is excellent, the food is awesome and the portions are great as are the prices.  Ravioli and Arincini appetizers were excellent.  Their sauce is very nice and not just a simple red sauce of tomatoes and spice.  More subtle and packed full of taste.  The veal chop with mashed and veggies was amazing.  Asparagus was just right, not mushy and not hard, tend snap when you bite in to it.  Just yummy!  OMG, the homemade blueberry cannoli's were the perfect end to a lovely meal.

When you walk in you're immediately greeted by a small bookcase with family photos.  That's when you realize you feel as though your dining in someone's personal dining room.  Barbara is a fantastic host and you'll have a wonderful time eating here on any occasion.  If you want a unique place that isn't part the the generic hanover street places to dine, this is it!

Wonderful place! Most tourists are distracted by all the restaurants on Hanover, so this little gem was wide open when I went with my parents on a Saturday night at 7pm. It was about half full when we came in, and slowly filled up over the course of our meal.

My mom got the House Special, which she raved over, and my dad got some sausage dish that was very tasty. Being a simple girl, I ordered spaghetti and meatballs-- and damn, all Italian restaurants should be judged by the quality of their meatballs! These were fracking incredible. All of our portions were so large that we had to box it up to take home.

Service is decent... Hostess (owner, I think) is a doll, quite friendly. Server was pretty good, and there are lots of guys running around to refill your water glass. There is also live music, where a couple of guys scoot up to your table and play guitar and tambourine. They play for a little while, then music is quietly played through speakers.

Nice ambience... dim but not too much. A good date restaurant.

Visit La Summa! Support a family owned business in Boston.

Decent place for standard Italian in the North End.

There are so many places to choose from in the North End - it's often hard to actually choose. Plus so many to me are just boring and unimaginative.

Anyway North End last night was a mad house with confetti littered everywhere from a feast and hundreds of locals and tourists alike trying to get into a restaurant, or Mike's. Navigating the street had gotten treacherous, and we were all getting cranky hungry. A friend suggested this place because of it's fresh made pasta and we decided to check it out. Luckily no wait - we sat right down - a welcome oasis.

Bread definitely could be better and the olive oil bottle may have had a bug floating in it (we couldn't tell). Our server was really nice though and took our order quickly. Food was pretty good, not the best I've ever had, but certainly decent. The homemade pasta was very good.

The one thing that kind of annoyed me - one of the folks we were with didn't get their order for a good 10 minutes or so after everyone else. I think they forgot or something. The waitress initially came over and said anything else as she put down all the other plates? and we said yea this other meal. She said oh yes right sorry about that - I'll be right back. But then we didn't see her for about 10 minutes as plate after plate came out of the kitchen for other tables. It was torture - we were all so hungry! I mean maybe they forgot, but just let us know there was a mix up it's coming out right away or something.

I visited La Summa with a friend a few weeks ago and we loved it.
It had a great atmosphere, it was quiet and mellow away from the busy traffic of Hanover Street.
I really enjoyed learning about reading the backstory behind the rest.
The hospitality was awesome.
The food was wonderful. The portions were large and the prices were reasonable. We ordered ravioli and chicken parmigiana, both were excellent.
If I have the chance to dine in the North End again I would definitely visit this restaurant.

really good place. I'm half Italian and always so disappointed with the North End scene. This place was a nice change: no wait, good size dishes and ok prices. We got the stuffed peperoni but it was nothing special. Entrees and dessert were very good though. I really felt as if I was eating something I could not cook myself. On top of that, the waiter gave us great advice throughout the night too (wine/ dessert). Will def go back.

I took my family here on Friday night after learning that the wait at Giacamo's around the corner was an hour and a half.

To be honest, we chose it because the main courses were less than $20 each and they had a table for us immediately.

Minus 1 star for the waitress who made a loud and angry sigh when my sister told her that she wasn't ordering anything for dinner (though i understand it is less of a tip, she just wasn't hungry).

My pasta spinaci was delicious, my boyfriends pappardelle was great, some of the best eggplant i have ever tasted!

The restaurant has a nice atmosphere and fantastic sounding specials, I would definitely try it again!

Hidden gem right on Fleet Street, away from the major hustle and bustle (i.e. tourists en masse walking slow and taking pictures) on the main drag of the North End. This one is worth finding though!

We went with a large party and our server was very attentive. The caesar salad was good (dressing to die for, croutons looked stale and out of a box but were ok), arancini was delicious (more of a croquette than a rice ball), and the pasta fagioli was wonderful (with ditalini and cannelini beans). For the main course I got the pork chop which came in bone, cooked perfectly, was really tender, and, most importantly, moist and juicy. Roasted potato wedges, steamed broccoli, and marinated peppers came alongside. Everything was really tasty, it hit the spot exactly.

Great ambiance. This would be a great place for a date or a family dinner.

We were the "Worst Diner Ever!" and we still got great service.

"Hi we don't have a reservation."  "Oh Thanks for the table, but we have a couple more joining us, can we move to a bigger table?"   "Oh thanks, we have some more people coming, can we have them disturb you other diners?"  "Great!"  "Can we get the check quick so we can catch the plane to Italy?"  "Wonderfull"

Belive it or not they did all we asked.

We had a 4 hour layover in Boston around dinner time on a Saturday.  On the recomendation of the guy working at the taxi stand, we went there.  On the way I called my sister.  She came to join us w/ her 1 year old.  Then my other Sister and her Husband and 3 kids came by.  We we pandemonium.

They handled it remarkably well considering that we did not have a reservation.

The food was pretty kick ass too!
Arancini, hmmmmmmmm.

What a hidden gem! We stumbled upon La Summa looking for a bite for lunch and were immediately drawn to the simple, delicious menu & the cozy looking interior. It was a sunday around 2 and the place was empty so we sat in a lovely little table by the window. The place is decorated with tons of pictures of family & the smells coming from the kitchen were amazing...
we quickly ordered Arancini to split while we decided what to order after hearing the specials, which all sounded de-freaking-licious.
The Arancini were DELISH! as was the dipping sauce that came with them..
I ordered the gnocchi pomodoro which were tasty & perfectly prepared...freshly made pasta is delectable & I can't wait to chow down my leftover gnocchi later tonight! My friends got the Pollo con broccoli & the special, which was meat lasagna. Our forks certainly migrated all over the table as we couldn't help sampling (again & again) each others yummy dishes.
The prices were perfect, we didn't run into any ridiculous tourists, and the food was scrumdiddlyumptious. I will absolutely be back to try out the rest of the wonderful options on the menu. I think the Pollo Limone is calling my name...

La Summa was stunningly empty on a Saturday night at 7:30, which was clearly a result of its location (tucked away on Fleet Street) rather than its food or service.

The party of seven I was with was treated well and fed like kings.  The salads were delicious, the arancini was flavorful and moist and my sausage and penne dish was absolutely excellent.  Everyone enjoyed their meals very much.

This is a place I would indeed recommend.  You may have luck here if other North End spots fill up.

I've taken several friends here over the course of ten years and never been disappointed.

The arancini are fantastic and the menu always indicates which pastas were made fresh that morning.

The waitstaff can be pretty annoying on busy nights trying to turn over tables, which is very-unItalian as anyone who has been to Italy can attest.

It's a little out of the way, but worth the trip.

Lasumma is a great old-fashioned italian restaurant.  The food is orthodox but absolutely delicious.  Unlike many of the restaurants in the north end, it is completely homey here, they aren't trying to be flashy or fancy or anything.  As a result, the atmosphere here is refreshingly mellow and tourist free.

When I went there we had the arancini, a couple of veal dishes, and ricotta cheesecake.  All standard, classic recipes, but all executed perfectly.  I'll be back again.

Food is amazing. The stuffed pasta is great. The atmosphere adds to the Italian experience.

Seems rather casual. More like a family-run restaurant. Prices seem very fair for the amount of delicious food.

I find the cream rather heavy so I recommend going with an appetite!

By the way, parking is annoying. I usually just park in the lot down the hill towards the piers - it's not a long walk.

I trusted yelp on this suggestion and the food was really good! Doesn't top Antico Forno or Mamma Maria but not at all a disappointment. The staff was ultra nice. I ordered pasta with shrimp and broccoli and loved it.

The only complaint would be the wine. Not good. I had white wine and the rest of the table had red. Not at all good. And wine is really an important part of a meal to us so that put a damper on the overall experience.

I wavered between three stars and four stars on this. The food was good. The ambiance was good. I just can't get past the wine situation. So it's up to you, yelp reader. If you don't care about wine, it's a four star place. If you do, it's three.

I wonder if a lot of people know about this place...  Maybe they do and I just went on a quiet night.

If you haven't been here, you should go.  It is romantic, dark, quiet, and completely unpretentious... which I love!

I have one of the veal dishes.. can't remember which... it was fantastic.  In fact, everything we tried was delicious!

When I lived in the North End, this was one of my favorite places.  The critics call this a great "red sauce" place, which I realized is a way to look down at places that serve fettuccini alfredo and chicken parm.  Nonetheless, this place is generally pretty quiet with decent prices and huge portions.

I wouldn't stray too far from the pasta or staples.  I had the gnocchi tonight, which was great and left enough for another meal.  I recommend the arrancini, which is  a classic Italian dish you can't get at Olive Garden.

I also like the photos of the owner's family in the front. Makes it feel like someone's home.  Of course those photos could be of people these guys whacked, or they came in the frame.  Either way, I like it.  I'm slow that way.

Even though I was determined to love this place, it just let me down. I went in expecting it to easily be a 5 star yelping, yet two stars it is.

They committed a grievous sin in my book...the appetizer was COLD. We got a plate of stuffed peppers. Should have been piping hot with moist bread crumbs and melted cheese, but it was cold and pasty (as if taken from the refrigerator). Making it go from 3 stars for average fare to 2...sorry.  There's a lot working against them.

The rest of the dinner was delicious. I got homemade pasta and my date got lemon chicken. Both of these were lovely.

They were busy, so the service was infrequent. And we got stuffed into a back room, with barely enough room for 2 people at the table. Our seats were blocking a large party into their table, so we had to get up for them to leave. eh.

If you go on a  weekend, make a reservation.

My coworker recommended this restaurant as the "non touristy"  authentic italian place. My dish somewhat o.k. because it was the daily special. Mu husband's dish was from the regular menu and it tasted like it came from a jar. He had to keep sprinkling it with parmessan cheese in a futule attempt to make it taste like something (he ordered the sausage and broccoli pasta) At one point I tried it, thinking that he was joking....but  unfortunately he was right. Thank god I ordered the seafood. My husband left greatly unhappy, which of course did not make for a nice night out.

I used to live down the street from this place  ( which is dangerous if you try to watch your weight)  i have always been hesitant about restaurants in the north end because i find allot of them to be tour-est traps.  this place is far from that and has great Italian food.  the chef/owners are from the almafi coast of Italy.  he cooks great seafood dishes.  my recommendation the stuffed calamari.  the last time i was there it was a special but i think it is on the regular menu.  they will make you anything if you ask.  Sunday was always my favorite night not crowded and you always got the personal touch in regards to service.  great wine list and just a true gem.

a round of meals, no appetizers, one bottle of wine, handful of beers - $240

guess that's not bad - but sometimes paying $15-$20 for pasta and tomato sauce feels like a total con.

still, it's not nearly as crowded as Hanover St - the wait service has been fiarly consistent - and the taste, while occassionally heavy on the EVOO, is still pretty solid.

and atmosphere - functional rather than funky.

are there better places in the North End?  definitely

are they all worth fighting through the tourists to get a seat - probably not.

This is possibly the best restaurant that I've been to in the North End. I just went here with my parents on the recommendation of my roommate. We had a great time as a group, but I would also recommend this place for couples as well. It was pretty packed when we went on a friday evening. They put us in the backroom, which initially I was unhappy about because it seemed out of the way and was noisy due to an old air conditioning unit. But, my attitude quickly changed as the service was fantastic. The waitresses were very attentive and friendly, which was amazing given that it was a busy night. I had a nice glass of chianti and a fantastic plate of homemade pasta with eggplant. Overall a really great experience. Now, when someone asks me for a North End recommendation, I will definitely recommend La Summa.

La Summa is a small gem just off Hanover St in the heart of the North End. Its off the main path but easy to find. Its in a quieter part of the north and and you truly feel like you're in Italy when you walk down the street and enter the restaurant. It is usually not too busy here, and even when it is it is easy to hear yourself think and carry on a conversation with a friend or family. There are a good variety of menu items to pick from and everything is brought to you within 15-25 minutes depending on the size of the order. Every time I go there I want to try something new, but I can never get enough of the FUSILI.
The staff are friendly, knowledgeable and professional and cater to you! You feel like you are part of the family from the moment you walk in the door. The italian music adds a nice touch to the North End feel. Best of all the prices are not outrageous like some of the North End establishments. They also have take-out/call ahead so grab a menu on your way out. On your way back from La Summa stop in for dessert at Mike's Pastry or Modern Pastry on Hanover St. or Bova's Bakery on Salem. La Summa's closest "T" stop is Haymarket Station (Orange/Green Line) or the Haymarket Bus terminal. Don't even think of parking in the north end. Take public transit or walk.

We visited this restaurant on a Saturday night and thankfully managed to get a reservation for 8 people. Our reservation was for 7:30 but we got stuck behind a procession and arrived 5 minutes late. The waiter seemed very annoyed. When we ordered, my 13 year old daughter and her friend decided to share a dish. My wife also asked the waiter if she could change her order. When the dishes arrived, the waiter brought an extra dish, the one my wife had canceled. When we tried to explain that there was a mistake, he yelled at us that we must order one dish per person. If this was the rule, why didn't he tell us this when we ordered, then at least we could have ordered something different. We mentioned this to the hostess at the end of the evening, at which point he came by and yelled at the kids, "you were supposed to order one dish each!". Unfortunately, the gratuity was tacked on to the bill, else he wouldn't have got much of a tip from us. It's a shame because we did like the food, but the grumpy waiter spoiled our experience so we won't be going back there.

Sorry, fellow yelpers who love La Summa. Maybe it was because we were the only people in the place and the server was still pushy. Maybe it was the dry appetizer or the salad with brown around the edges. Or perhaps it was what I ordered: lemon chicken that was mysteriously dry AND astringent while the accompanying pasta was anything but al dente. I don't know, but I can't muster up anything better than 2 stars. Unless Dolce is swamped, I probably won't return.

Nice little place tucked away in the North End. I had the stuffed calamari (ordered it spicy!) and it was divine. I ate every last bite. We also ordered the mussels as an appetizer and loved those, as well. The sauce from the mussels was perfect for dipping their yummy crusty bread! Very reasonably priced to boot!

Finally, a place in the north end that I can call home.  With all of the other places requiring either the patience to stand in line for an hour with tourists taking photos all around you, or a second mortgage to pay for a bowl of noodles, this place provides a simple and nice decor with good food and no crowds.

I went there with two other people and we split the bruschetta and arancini between us as appetizers (both extremely tasty).  The pasta dishes that we got were all very tasty.  They weren't any better or worse than the places on Hanover street, but they were moderately priced and in an uncluttered environment.  After having spent numerous dinners at Cantina Italiana and G'vanni's, I now know that I don't need to be on Hanover street to have a good Italian meal in the North End.
