So my sister bought this huge mansion and she needed floral arrangements for her mausoleum dining room. After spending 5 figures for the table alone, I couldn't stomach paying another fortune for flowers. So I talked her into going with me to the Sunday Swap Meet on Hwy 29.

Of course she just loved what was available and she had custom arrangements promised within 2 hours and for less than $200. Of course my sister wouldn't eat at one of the many vendors at the Swap Meet. Kinda made me wonder if we were split at birth? Some of my favorite foods are right here.

So I took her to La Strada to cool her heels while we waited. Although we looked like we'd been rode hard and put away wet, the host didn't bat an eye. We were promptly seated in the dining room. A visit to the "Powder Room" proved that cleanliness was observed everywhere.

We really enjoyed our lunch, including our soup and salad and entrees. Everything was freshly prepared and served promptly. Our bread was replenished frequently, as was our ice water.

While the prices were a little higher than a "chain" restaurant, they often have coupons in the paper, so you can keep it budget friendly.

And the flowers? Beautiful!

Sideways heading back to frisco, I stopped here because I was extremely hungry after tasting some different wines. I wasn't expecting Italian or even in the mood, however La Strada proved to be the choice move. The menu has variety and the prices are reasonable. the calamari was cooked perfectly and I enjoyed the garlic live oil spread. For my meal, I had the chicken marsala which was excellent and offered variety in taste from the marsalas my palate is accustomed to tasting. Their sauce was a bit sweet but not overpowering and the dish came with a side of what looked to be mashed potatos but tasted like cheese infused grits mixed with potatos. The meal here was excellent. Usually I feel a little wierd when the service is at my table to fill up my water cup before I set it back down on the table, but here it was appreciated. I give this place my recommendation.

I like this place for date night, quite, soft lighting and cute decor.  The service here has always been good as well as the food.  I love the osso bucco or the pork chops.  The antipasto platter is yummy too.  They give you plenty of bread with great dipping sauce.  Its weird but I've never tried any pasta dishes here.  This place is right on highway 29 next to the flea market.  I've tried this location and the one in San Pablo and prefer this one.  This is a good choice in the area for a non chain restaurant.

Returned, expecting a repeat positive experience.

Party of six...Mother's Day 08...food and service a big disappointment this time.

antipasto platter and desserts were still very good....all entrees and we had six were mediocre...maybe it was because it was a busy day?

We will go back and report...OK

PROS: Decent to good interior.

CONS: Average food, terrible location, mediocre service, seems like they care more about catering to tourists than being a great restaurant.

We've eaten here several times ( I like to before writing anything here, it just seems fair) Each and every time was really good!

The food is good, the service is good, the prices reasonable. We have gone with 2, 4 and 5 people  everyone has loved their entrees. Minestrone actually looked and taste homeade as did the pasta fagiole. The mushroom risotto was really good!

The pasta dishes are good! It is  blah looking from the outside, but pleasant enough inside. Lord knows Vallejo/ American Canyon area has very little to offer in t he way of fine dining!

The restaurant from the road side looks a 1970's cocktail bar. In any case, we gave it a try. The interior is actually pleasant and the staff nice. The complimentary bread came with this amazing olive oil/garlic drizzle. I ordered the risotto with blacken chicken. It was truly OK -- not bad, not amazing (though my husband liked it). My husband ordered a cream based, sun dried tomato pasta dish which he says was "solid but not spectacular". It's definitely a step up from the Olive Garden, Applebees or the Red Lobster. For the price though, I'm not sure I would go back.  (Oh, and no crayons or paper for the kids.)

I had the Lasagna Special (made with Veal). I also had lots of bread and some of their house wine. I thought the place was good and so was the service but I wasn't blown away. My gf had a linguine Seafood dish that didn't blow us away either. I don't know if I will come back here unless it was for a party.

Who knew?  I bet I've driven by La Strada a gadzillion times on the way to Napa or Sonoma, and was put off by it's Route 66ish looking facade.  Recently, a friend took me out for my birthday, and we ended up at La Strada.  What a find!  The outside faces the raging highway into wine country and the empty flea market next door, but the inside is quite decked out, almost overdone, in soft pinks and Italianesque murals.  The food was quite good...fresh bread, good dipping oil....  I had the salmon, which was really tasty, and we shared some chocolate cake.  The prices were reasonable, and service very good.  The place was packed, which surprised me.
Don't let the outside fool you...check this place out.  It isn't San Francisco, but it's local and pretty good overall.

I have been to this restaurant at least 5 times over the last year and each time we have had great service and food.  I love the bruschetta -- bread is crunchy and tomatoes on top are deliscious!  Cesear salad is great too. My hubby loves the steak and polenta with vegetables.  We have gone just the two of us and gone with large birthday parties.  They have a separate small room that holds about 12 people and is perfect.  Big square table that you can actually talk to everyone at.  I know they have another room for even bigger crowds, but 12 is enough for me :)  We aren't big wine/alcohol drinkers, so our bill is very reasonable.  We've gone to sizzler and paid more (ugh.)  We will be back.  Great location, too.

Mediocre, at Best...: This place is a disappointment, given the proximity of great Italian cuisine in Napa. The dishes, while showing a bit of imagination, are executed without enthusiasm, and sauces are heavy handed. I get the feeling that there is not a single Italian among the kitchen staff or management, and that the menu is largely mimicry by people who don't truly understand Italian food. The ambiance is pleasant, if somewhat cheesy, and waitstaff was friendly and efficient. On the whole, however, unless you really don't care what you are eating, drive on...

I'm not sure why this place is getting good reviews.  The food is JUST edible and the portions are small- I ordered one of the prawn dishes (their menu either changes or is different from what they show online) and it only came with 4 tiny prawns and really poorly prepared vegetables on the side (I'm almost certain they were frozen).  Did I go on a bad night?

Although our sever was very good. The food was up to par with stoffers frozen dinners. We had the veal parm. very watery sauce and flavorless. We also had the NY strip special that was supposed to be blackened. I think they forgot the seasoning it was bland with a watery gravy on top. The prawns had a horrible fishy smell that stunk up our table. When the busser or another server came by ( I don't know who he was) he asked if everything was okay. I said I didn't care for the veal, but that we were fine. Meaning I wasn't looking for free food. Then he asked if I wanted it wrapped to go. I again said no it's fine. (Why would I want it to go I just said I didn't like it.) When he was leaving I asked that he remove the prawns from the table as well,  That they had a smell. I said think there is something wrong with them they shouldn't smell fishy like that. He then insultingly asked if I would like to go in the kitchen to see that all their food was fresh. Now believe me I was in no way rude or tacky in my behavior. I have managed restaurants for over 10 years and know good service and good restaurant etiquette I still can not believe that I was actually insulted by the busser.
