3 reviews for La Serena Inn
We check out yelp and other online reviews extensively before booking our anniversary holiday here. We cut our 3 night stay down to 2 because with weather was crappy, there is not much to do in MB without sunshine and the hotel was merely a place to stay.
Negatives:
-crappy bed and pillows. We could feel the springs and the pillows were super floppy and without substance.
-Moldy shower with very hard water
-the worst continental breakfast ever. I know you are getting it for free but the stale bread, orange colored water passing as OJ and undrinkable coffee majorly left something to be desired
-our "partial view" room was right on top of a bank. You could only see the ocean if you stood on a small sliver of the patio
-endlessly running toilet
Positives
-refrigerator, freezer and microwave in room
-friendly staff
-centrally located a few blocks from the water and right in town
-big room for a cheep price ($80 on Thursday, $130 Friday and Saturday)
An excellent value overall. The partial ocean view room actually had a great view of the water and the rock, when the town wasn't fogged in, that is. The room was exceptionally clean, and although I normally avoid having anything to do with shiny bedspreads, this one had obviously just been washed. Although the decor is very dated (mauve predominates), the mattress does sag a bit, and the continental breakfast is ghastly (with coffee that tastes like instant, and nothing healthy to eat) the hotel is a very well-maintained property with pleasant staff in an excellent location. For $99 in summer, you can't go wrong
What a steal! Even though we just randomly picked this place while driving down the road, we couldn't have been more pleased! The room was extremely inexpensive, and felt more luxurious than the spa room for which I had paid triple the price the night before in Paso Robles. A four-poster king bed that was actually super comfortable, free wireless internet, a microwave and refrigerator in the room, and basically all the amenities I could have wanted or needed, all for the price of a cheap motel. As a hotel guest, you can also freely enjoy the amenities available at their sister hotels in town. We even had a partial view of the ocean from our balcony, and hurrah for 12:00 noon checkout time so we could wait until the last minute to keep sleeping in that comfortable bed! Next time I am in the area, I will strongly consider staying here
