Hidden on the side of a Brewster's in a dumpy strip mall... this place can be missed in a blink of an eye. No real sign out front, only a banner that sez Pupuseria Y Taqueria. I knew this would be good when I saw the jalapeno slaw in a ziplock baggy and man, was it tasty.

The menu is very simple and to the point... Pupusas, sopas, tacos, tortas, burritos, quesadillas, tamals, various apps and some combo dinner plates. I don't think it gets any more authentic than this joint. Two old ladies working their magic in the kitchen and the place filled with ex-pats. The owner was the only person who spoke Spanglish... she said that her brother doesn't speak English so don't call in an order if he picks up. LOL.

Papusas - Pollo and Meat w/cheez... I really don't care what's filled inside, these thick ass handmade corn tortillas were pretty damn tasty hot off the griddle. The onions and cilantro gave it that fresh crisp to it. I better watch how many I eat because my FUPA will become a papoose!

Tacos - Al pastor (roast pork) was flavorful and tender. Lengua (beef tongue) was moist and tender unlike some other places which are dry and chewy. Both were cut into small cubes. No filler... just a nice red and green salsa to go with. Corn tortillas tasted handmade but I ate it so fast didn't really have a chance to inspect it closely. Crunchy need not apply... goto Toxic Hell if you want crunchy with hot sauce packets.

Tamal de Pollo - Wow, this was really tasty. Nice chunk of chicken w/ a bone in it to give it that extra flavor. It was a nice surprise to eat a tamal that wasn't dried out like saw dust.

There's a few more things I need to try especially the tortas b/c they look very good. It's nice to see more mom & pop shacks opening up and doing their grub right. No one likes tacos from a box or burritos from a burro's backside. One other thing... this place is cheap! $1.50 papusas and tacos... oh crap, too late, I just grew a papoose.

Yippee Kay Yay Mother Pupusas!

Ole!
