I almost want to give them 5 stars - seriously.

Their food is damn good and very fresh.  I usually have the cheese enchiladas with Charo beans.  The guacamole salsa is to die for, and now you can even buy large containers to go.  I have always gotten my food rather quickly and the service is wonderful.  The manager guy who is usually in there is so nice and helpful, he always has a smile and you can tell he is glad to have your business.  It is a bit on the pricey side, but it beats the total hell, and then some, out of nasty Taco Cabana.

Yes, it is a chain.  But it really is very good.  Better than Zuzu's (too greasy) and way better than Taco Cabana. I'd put it up there with Changos.

I hate to sound like a broken record given all of the other reviews, but count me as another one of the many chili-lime chicken salad lovers out there.  It's really one of the best places to grab a quick healthy salad when you are on a short lunch run for work.  You can ask for it without the dressing, cojita cheese or the avocado if you are really going skinny.  I actually never get the dressing that comes with - instead I get a few different fresh salsas and use that as the dressing instead.  Love the salsa bar.  Really excellent.

Everything comes with good chips - good if you like good chips, bad if you are trying to cut down.  Here's the little game I play to cut down on chips intake - 90% of the chips are regular yellow corn, 5% are blue corn, and 5% are red (probably dyed, but I'm sure it's safe - the FDA says so).  I eat all the color chips and leave the rest.  Voila - a built-in chip limiting process.  Hey, whatever works, right?

Only problem at this particular La Salsa location is that the parking is tight, spaces are small, and I've seen several near accidents with people backing out and in.

I received a coupon in the mail for La Salsa, and I decided to try this place. The place is small and cozy, but well-lit and nice. The service was very good and the cashier/cook was very polite.

This location did not have the Veracruz sauce, which the coupon(buy one get one free) was for, so the guy allowed me to pick whichever burritos I wanted and use the coupon for it. I chose a shrimp and a fish burrito. Each one is served with chips.

The shrimp... was rather low quality tasting. In fact, you can't really taste the shrimp... or the fish in the fish burrito. Overall, everything here is dependent upon the sauce that they slather inside their burritos. It's one conglomerated taste. My taste buds were not stimulated. I was hoping this place could defeat Wahoo's fish tacos/burritos, but that was not the case. Don't get me wrong, the sauce was fine, but it was too one-note. It was not a plethora of tastes or experiences that were able to strike the perfect chord amidst my taste buds.

The salsa bar, I found, was really really cool. I'll rate each salsa by itself, at least the ones I tried.
Avacado: green, slightly creamy, did not taste like avacado; tasted rather generic.
Pico: not bad, but it's just lime, tomatoes, onions, and cilantro
Roasted Tomato: this one had flavor, and somewhat smokey as my girlfriend kept pointing out on how it "should" taste. this one did taste like roasted tomatos.
Habernero: spicy/hot, but that's all you taste. I love hot sauce, and I LOVE it HOT. However, I do not like to eat fire. That is not very tasty.
Mango: chunks of mango with a hint and splash of oniony/pepperiness. Surprisingly not bad, but really it just tastes mostly like mangos.

The best part was the unlimited salsa. At least they live up to their name.

La Salsa is definitely fresh.  I used to go here all the time just for the Baja Fish tacos but that was when fish tacos were hard to find.  I still really like them, but since they aren't the only show in town, I don't frequent La Salsa as much as I used to.  But the Baja Fish tacos are really delicious and served correctly with two corn tortillas.  The Chile Lime salad is delicious.  The first time I ever had Cojita cheese was in this salad.  It's a nice big portion, too.

Of course, I love the salsa bar, mango and avocado being my favorites.  They also have good chips.

Much better than what I expected. I thought  it's just a boring Burrito place. But their burritos are pretty creative.
I hate rice and beans in Mexican food. Here they offer The NO Rice NO Beans(tm) Burrito. It's mixed with a lot of vegetables and chicken. I like it a lot.
I also had Three Pepper Fajita Burrito. It's a little bit spicy. And grilled vegetables and meat flavor are very strong. It's the best burrito I ever had because of the grilled taste.
They also have mango sauce with big piece of mango in it.
Overall is beyond my expectation for a burrito and taco place.

So, this place has my absolute favorite salad in Austin.  It is called the Chili Lime Chicken salad.  The basic components are grilled chicken, avocado, cojita cheese, tortilla strips, tomatoes, and this divine chili lime dressing.  I absolutely adore this salad and I get it every time I can get near La Salsa.  My only caveat on the salad is that they make the dressing at La Salsa, and sometimes it is "off."  That doesn't mean any of the ingredients have gone bad, but sometimes they don't make the exact right combination of ingredients.  Other than that, it is just fab!

This place scores major points with me for a variety of reasons.

1.  A short equidistance from my residence AND office (most likely of no consequence to you).
2.  When they say fresh, they mean fresh.
3.  A hearty, ample amount of shrimp on their Los Cabos Shrimp Burrito, so I would assume so on other items.
4.  Their salsa bar is to die for!  Fire-Roasted Pepper, Salsa Negro, and Habanero are my favs, but there are also several other salsas and whatnot.
5.  It's a healthy alternative for lunch with many seafood items (Baja and Sonora style fish tacos, the aforementioned shrimp burrito) and a damn fine Chili Lime Chicken salad.
6.  Quick service, even during the busiest times at lunch.  I've never had to wait more than 5 minutes, usually much less.

The only thing I wish they had was a frequent diner card, to crowd and cramp all the other half used cards in my wallet.  Nonetheless, they still rate up there in my book.

La Salsa is a chain from California, so it's like healthy, CaliMex food.  I'm into that.

I get the guacamole burrito and it's delicious.  I ordered it the first time went, and never changed after that, because it's delicious.  I prefer it over other places' guacamole burrito (like Changos, for instance) because they don't overkill it.  You can still taste the other flavors throughout.

Their salsa bar has mango salsa!  That alone brings me back.  This is good for a quick lunch, and good also if you like patio seating.  The interior is brightly decorated, kind of a la Jamba Juice.  So cheery.

la salsa reminds me of a chain that never really took off.  it's kind of hidden away in a shopping center, next door to austin's pizza and quiznos.  they have excellent, healthy mexican food selections.  the baja fish tacos are a personal favorite.  try their salads....the chipotle grilled shrimp was delicious!  the salsa bar is filled with many choices of salsas and dips.  they also carry cold jarritos in most flavors.  mmmmmm jarritos!

Normally I try to avoid the chain places, but this one is an exception.  Why is that?
First of all they make good burritos and tacos in many flavors with many meats.  Their detailed menu explains th joys of each burrito.  Although the base proces on these burritos are higher, You know your not being nickle and dimed for the extras like gucamole or sour cream.
The ingredients are fresh, healthy, and well balenced.  There is a consistent and good texture to my burrito.  It doen't explode or drip too much like they do at a lot of other places.
The Salsa Bar is seriously top of the line here. I have never seen so many delicious salsa flavors in one place.  There is serious variety and quality, that far surpasses that at any other burrito joint in town.  You can fill up as many of those little plastic cups as you want when you order here and then take them to your friends house and have a muti-dip chips and salsa party.
I never spend more than 10 for a very satisfying meal here.
