Review from Kevin N.
A bit above par for a La Quinta. Staff was prompt and attentive. The pool and deck area looked nice, though it was 40 degrees when I was here. McDonald's is next door which appears to be the only thing open past 9 in this horrible town. (and even that was drive-thru only)
The breakfast seemed to be missing a few of the usuals. It had only one cereal, no donuts, but it did have hard-boiled eggs.Listed in: FloridaTrip, DestinationCA

What a horrendous hotel experience. The ONLY reason they get a second star is because the attendant at the desk that I dealt with was as understanding as he could be under the circumstances. But I cannot recommend this hotel to anybody. The problems were numerous.
First off, the toilet in our first room was completely non-functional. One flush, and it overflowed, completely flooding the bathroom. So they moved us to another room. In the new room, there was some kind of animal feces on the carpet, and this toilet barely worked any better than the one in the first room. Let's just say that if I had taken a "number two" odds are I'd end up with water up to my ankles again.
During the night, the hallway our room was in reeked of smoke. I understand that the whole property is not non-smoking, but it somewhat defeats the purpose when the whole place smells of smoke anyway. There was some kind of disturbance during the night, lots of yelling and screaming, enough to draw the attention of police. Needless to say it was not a pleasant evening.
I canceled the second night of our stay and made reservations at another hotel. I would advice anyone thinking of staying here to do the same. Spend the few extra dollars and stay someplace nicer. There are a few things worth spending money on. Peace of mind and a good night's sleep are two of those things. -

Note: we stayed a couple of nights at the La Quinta Inns & Suites at 1500 Hickory Drive in Las Cruces in January 2011. Both La Quintas are apparently under the same management, but it can be confusing figuring out which one has your reservation as they are separated by almost a block. My family and I stay at a lot of LQs as they are all pet friendly--and my canine brother, Oscar, is not a service dog so we need pet friendly for him. Very well run motel and a nice breakfast for a LQ with boiled eggs and waffles. And, of course, eggs are among my favorite foods, and my Mom always gets me some when she has them! Definitely among the top five LQs that we have stayed at and a very good value for the price.

Walking up to our room I noticed the hallway floors hadn't been vacuumed in what looked like weeks. The same could be said for our room. That should have been our cue to leave...
The toilet had to be babysat, otherwise it wouldn't flush.
The tub didn't drain well, so our legs bathed in our shower water.
Night two we found roaches in the bathroom and spiders next to the bed. Needless to say we checked out early.
While checking out, we weren't offered any sort of compensation. The guy just said he'd have all those issues addressed.
Next time I'll pay an additional 20 bucks a night to stay at the Hampton Inn across the street. -

I got to give them 4 stars because on the way back from Corpus Christi back in 2002, we got into New Mexico at around 12 am PST ummm 2 am central. The front desk guy gave us a suite, which was a bigger room with a coffee table and couch if I remember correctly.
On the way to Texas, it was just a regular room. -

The La Quinta sign in Las Cruces is an especially welcome sight. This is the half way point when I drive home. After 625 miles of desert highways pulling into the parking lot here is great. The swimming pool is behind the front desk with two stories of rooms surrounding it. Great rooms like being home.
La Quinta started in Texas with the headquarters still there, in Irving. But it is now a national chain with over 600 signs up welcoming the traveler. I trust them and they have never failed me. -

I was pleased with it for the price. There were water spots on the counter and the bathroom floor had some stains on it. The window curtains had some rips.
But besides that the room was clean. I wanted a cheap place, that would be quiet and I would feel safe at. It provided that. -

Clean rooms, decent rate and ample parking, but they have the worst free breakfast ever. I woke up and made it to the lobby with about 20 minutes left, and all I could get were mini-bagels. All food seemed to have run out, and nothing had been replaced. If I'd known breakfast would be such a searing disappointment, I would've stayed in bed. Never staying here again.

Came in late, forgot to call to tell them we would. Since I didn't call they marked us as a now show, as they should, when I arrive, this didn't slow us down at all. They stay was great, an exceptional hotel. Small Breakfast though. Very Clean

Stayed here while in town in February 2009. Room was clean, staff very nice. Breakfast not so stellar, but I usually skip the continental breakfast anyway. Price was good, so no complaints from me!
