4 reviews for La Quinta Inn Suites-Hayward Oakland Airport
Perfectly decent place to spend the night next time you find yourself needing a place to stay in Hayward.
Ok, maybe that's not super plausible. (I was in town for a 3-day swim meet.) However, it's not too far from the Oakland airport, which is a much more likely draw for anyone to be spending a night in Hayward.
From the phoned in reservations, to tracking down the housekeepers, all of the staff I encountered were welcoming and helpful. I even got a phone call once I'd checked in, to make sure the room was alright. That's a nice touch for a relatively inexpensive hotel. ($74/night on weekends)
The room was clean, though the hideous view of the parking lot and dumpsters was pretty unappealing. I appreciated the microwave/refrigerator as I'm realizing that these are important necessities to quell the ravenous beast I become on swim meet weekends. Bed was a little too squishy for my taste, and pillows were not very comfy. The included breakfast was rather scant, but a good "pre-breakfast" before breakfast, which is the appetizer prior to elevensies . . . and so on.
All in all: decent. I'd stay here again if needed.
My friends and I booked our trip through Expedia, packaging airfare, hotel and rental car all together. We picked La Quinta because it was fairly close to the airport and freeway and was one of the cheapest options.
I was actually surprised when we walked in to check in. It was definitely much nicer than I had expected. We arrived several hours before check in time expecting to be told that they couldn't get us in. The girl that checked us in was very friendly and informative and even found us an available room.
Our room had a wonderful view of the parking lot but that was the only drawback (okay, plus the ice maker didn't work that well). It was clean and well appointed and conveniently located between the elevator and the emergency exit.
The hotel had a lot of amenities that we didn't use and even offered free breakfast. Unfortunately we were up and out before it opened at 6:00 so there was really only one time we had a chance to even see what was offered. It was a bit limited on choices and it appeared that some things needed to be re-stocked, but it was nice to be able to grab a cup of coffee and some fruit before heading out.
I would definitely recommend this place.
We had a last minute fly-out...sorry I could not get hold of you all. Landed in Oakland, and made our way to Hayward. "Just need some place, where I can lay my head...hey mister can you tell me where a man might find a bed...he just grinned shook my hand La Quinta was all he said"...so we checked it out. Not bad at all..clean, coffee maker, fridge, good cable and decent price for two nights. Not the Taj-Mahal, but definitely okay for a good nights rest.
We stayed here because our daughter was spending the night at UC Berkeley for "Student Orientation"......we needed a hotel room close by: all the decent hotels in Oakland or Berkeley with pools wanted $200 or more for a room....
Careful shoppers.....we decided to try Hayward (only 10 miles south of Berzerkeley). The Oakland airport side of Hayward is quite reasonable, with lots of bargain motels & hotels to choose from.
La Quinta Inn is not fancy, its rather ordinary but the property has been remodeled. The bathrooms have been re-tiled, but the carpeting could use an upgrade. Maid service is very attentive and prompt. We got 2 free continental breakfasts (the breakfast bar is extensive and tasty, lots of fresh fruits and juices, and even french toast, scrambled eggs & sausage & make-your-own waffles with strawberries/whipped topping). Amenities like free chocolate chip cookies, free internet access in the business center (most SF hotels charge $30/hr for internet access), the value piles up!
For $93 (including Alameda/Hayward room tax)....FREE PARKING.
Less than $100 for two people, a large king size bed (comfortable) and the pile of free amenities (worth at least $50).
A great hotel value, downgraded 1 star for the noisy location and the shower head that was "stuck" in the pulsating massage mode.
