2 reviews for La Quinta Inn
So here we are, it's Thursday night at 7p on the way to Mammoth, me and 2 of my friends (both guys.) On the way my friend asks, so do you want to drive all the way to Mammoth or stay at La Quinta Inn in Bishop and drive to Mammoth in the morning, we'll save about $30.
Fuck it, let's stay in Bishop and drive in the morning. It's just us and we're gonna be in the room for less than 7 hours.
So my friend who is driving tells me to call and reserve. Because they had a vacancy, It was so easy to reserve the room. Just have your credit card number handy and you're good to go. Right after I make the reservation, I think to myself ... let me check Yelp and see what the ratings are for La Quinta, guess what I see?
1 review 1 star. Damn, why didn't I check Yelp first?
Oh well, that was probably and isolated incident because I didn't have any problems with La Quinta, but please believe the first thing I did was check the bed for any bugs. I'm happy to report there were no bugs.
Easy reservation, easy check out, free continental breakfast, 2 full size beds for about $76.49 with per night with AAA discount split between 3 people.
Key learnings from this trip and stay at La Quinta Inn:
- Free Internet
- Use your card to reserve. My card, my bed ... you two share
- Ask for the AAA discount, they didn't ask for my card
- Ask for the 2nd floor so you don't hear the people above bumpin' uglies
- Decent continental breakfast: cereal, waffles, bagels, fruit, juice, etc
- Much less luggage and less time to get ready when traveling with guys (I already knew this, just confirmation), one of my friends only brought a toothbrush and lotion
Nicely renovated and large, well-appointed rooms, free breakfast, reasonable rates for summer season, good location.
Too bad about the BEDBUGS.
Also too bad that they think a $10 discount is fair compensation for exposure to bedbugs. Almost paid for the trash bags, insecticide, and a few hours of hot washing and drying. Didn't pay for the hassle and time lost. Not sure how much my blood is worth these days, but it's more than $10.
