4 reviews for La Quinta Inn & Suites
This location is La Quinta Reloaded.
If you must hotel it in SA, and want better than average, but not the Ritz, this is the place. We all know what La Quinta is all about. But I was pretty impressed with this new concept. I know its basically a brand new hotel, but so what. The price points are about the same. It doesn't feel like yer grandmother's La Quinta. And there's no Denny's next door.
There is a reason why this La Quinta has been reviewed a bunch, over other locations. --- Super clean and modern rooms. Comfortable beds. It's a high rise in the middle of tall Texas trees, so if you are up there, you get a nice view. Bonus!
It's funny. There is an old school LA Quinta a few exits down, but I wouldn't even consider that pit anymore. They might as well bulldoze it. This is the place! Stay here.
Its a few extra miles from Downtown, but well worth it.
I've got to echo lots of the good things that Jill K. said about this "newish" LQ. I first stayed here in Oct 2007 on vacation and again last week due to the Hurricane Ike evacuation for me and my parents.
This is not a typical LQ starting with the fact that its an 8-story building, facing the freeway on one side and a thoroughfare lined with apartment complexes on the other. The general area feels young professional (think doctors, nurses, etc.) so its a safe area. The freeway noise is not very noticeable, either.
The complimentary breakfast is huge and bountiful - everyone will be happy with it. Served M-F from 7 AM to 9 AM and on Sat/Sun from 8 AM to 10 AM. Pool. Free internet in the rooms. Most rooms have both a mini-fridge and a microwave. Free abundant parking around the hotel. Granite or similar countertops in the bathrooms. Hotel is 100% smoke free - awesome!
They accept pets which may be something to note if you have allergies. On my first visit, I saw none. This time, there were a lot more pets but I chalk that up to other evacuation needs.
Great contemporary southwestern decor and color palette. Luckily, the decor was not carried through to the bedding. Instead, they used nice neutrals - crisp white linens, dark hardwood headboards and side tables with clean modern lines, and firm supportive mattresses. The carpet is not that horrible "hotel green" - it is a nice beige. Towels could use upgrading to full 100% cotton but this is a minor quibble since I know that they take a beating.
A supermarket and Target are both within 5 minutes of the hotel. Lowe's is down the street (I had to have keys made for post-evacuation).
The staff are all very eager to help and accomodate any requests. Of course, what you put out is what you'll get back so be nice and you'll get it back in spades.
Kudos to the breakfast area and housekeeping staff for keeping up with a fuller hotel. Special thanks to Lisa R, the manager, for keeping me and my fellow evacuees informed on the latest developments. She really cared to make our stay less stressful. I made sure to leave tips for the breakfast crew, housekeepers, and front desk staff - their hard work should be rewarded (literally).
Whether on vacation or as a refuge from a crippled city, this LQ is a great selection. I'm due for another vacation soon and I think I'll return to this location if I hit the state parks again.

This hotel is brand new-- it opened in March 2007. Normally when I think La Quinta (sadly) I think "enh." But woot, this one is awesome.
Huge rooms, super-clean, verrrrrrrrrrrry comfy beds, friendly and super-competent staff, speedy elevators, everything works, plenty o' parking, *huge* and tasty free hot breakfast, and free wireless. Also a plus (for me, anyway): it's a 100% non-smoking hotel. Rock!
You can also get suites and rooms with fridges / microwaves.
I'm hoping they keep this place in great shape as the building ages.
I'm a business traveler, and I'm on the road pretty much every week. I know my hotels, yo... and this hotel failed to suck.

Wonderful! We arrived at about 12am after a day of flying. The lady at the front desk was super friendly and far from the normal night shift desk clerk. Our reservation was for a standard king room...much to our dismay, we were told all the king rooms were booked. You can imagine the disappointment...but we were pleasantly surprised when she offered us a king suite for the same price. We took it! The room was very nice and the bed was really comfortable. Non- smoking room (really!!) and the thermostat actually worked. While we only shacked up for the night, it was a very nice place to stay. Everything was very clean, nicely decorated and very reasonably priced...fabulous value!!
