i rarely go this south, this west of miami. but my parents decided to meet at la perla for lunch last weekend. this small peruvian restaurant is located in the middle of a generic shopping center. parking was somewhat of an issue as there is a super market, a million dollar stores and a supercuts and so many other busy businesses around.
we went in, the decor is cute, seafood themed and their menus are thick. lots and lots of yummy plates here. i ordered a 'causa de pulpo al olivo' as an appetizer. this is a traditional peruvian dish, mashed potatoes filled with octopus in olive sauce. it really was delicious. my parents had ceviche and leche de tigre, leche de tigre is basically just the ceviche lime juices with chunks of seafood served on a glass, like a cocktail. order this and you wont get a cold for the next four months.
then my main course meal got to the table. i had lomo saltado. this is a delicious stir fry dish, with beef, tomatoes, onions, and fries, served with rice. ive had this plate at almost every peruvian restaurant ive ever been to, but nothing compares to the one i had here. hands down.
i cant quite remember what my parents or sister had, well i was much too busy munching away my plate. portions are pretty generous but of course, i finished the whole plate. i believe i licked the plate and silverware. true story.
i was also very surprised to see how much our check was, about $80 but we all ate as much as we could (4 people) and each one of us had a drink. pretty amazing for such delicious food. i strongly recommend you come to this place when feeling really hungry and adventurous. this place is far, i know, but its soooo good!
