This is a great library. The staff is very friendly and make you feel welcome the minute you step foot inside. They are willing to go that extra mile for you when you need to find books or other materials.

The building may be a bit old (something out of the 70s), but it's very functional and holds virtually everything you could want to find. When you can't find something they're quick to suggest requesting it for you or referring you to another library system that has it.

If you live in the area, you should check this library out, especially if you're a parent who wants to take their kids to preschool storytime. They have it every Wednesday at 11. In the summer, they offer a reading program along with performances. So, check it out sometime (No pun intended, but funny nonetheless).

Great Library! My wife takes my daughter to the open read time, and my baby girl loves it! They do a lot of different activities for the youth, which is nice. Not to mention they have more books than the Smithsonian (does the Smithsonian have books?) Hmm maybe I need to spend more time at the library instead of yelping about it!

Memories...like the corners of my mind.
I love walking into this place and taking a big giant whiff of old books. You know what I'm talking about. Old BOOKS. Its a smell.
They should bottle it.
Anywho...

Great staff, usually seniors that are super fabulous and friendly.
Great selection.Beautiful area in La Mirada right next to the park and across from Biola.

Ask about when the next book fare is...you don't want to miss those!

In a past many of us probably never knew, the local public library was a magical place, a happy peaceful place where you'd get a warm fuzzy feeling everytime you walked through the doors. Whether it be to sit down and study for an hour or two, discover a fun new book to read, or even find a classic movie to watch, the library was the place to be, a place where the librarians knew your name (and borrower information) and greeted you each time with a gentle smile and quiet how are you today.

Perhaps you are thinking or saying out loud, "That is nice, but you can't find that anymore, well at least not in Southern California. Libraries here suck ass! " Then clearly you have never been to the County of Los Angeles Public Library in La Mirada.

In this small well-kept building right across the street from the soccer field of Biola University, you will find a blast from the past, a genuine community service organization who cares about books, about each other, and most importantly, about you. You might not find the book you are looking for when you walk in, but you will always find a smile on your face when you walk out.

If you've never been, you should check out the La Mirada Resource Center and Regional Park. The "Splash" water park is now up and running and the city does a lot of nice things for it's citizens. The library is across from town hall. Moderately sized book collection, lots of great and current movies to rent (only $1), friendly and helpful staff, and fast and free wi-fi for residents. The lobby always has an interesting display; the 1st time I went there it was a Mr. Potato Head collection. The water drinking fountain is real cold and the bathrooms are kept clean. I still haven't completely pieced together the connection between large book collections and #2.
