Let me just say one thing: I LOVE their chocolate macarons!

Like a perfect macaron, it has a delicate shell. When you bite into it, it crumbles and melts in your mouth.

While Laduree does make the best macarons, La Maison Du Chocolat makes the best chocolate macarons; hands down. Actually, try any of the chocolates at this place; you won't regret it.

    Fine Chocolates Indeed.

Whenever I visit La Maison Du Chocolat, it's always a bit of a madhouse. Things seem disorganized. Eventually, I am able to grab someones attention but none of the employees I have encountered at THIS location have been helpful. I enjoy their chocolates and this location is more convenient for me, so I just deal. The customer service is much better at their UES location.

Their chocolates are smooth, clean, not too sweet, and have a beautiful finish. Their Champagne Truffles are lovely. You can taste the champagne cognac but it's not overwhelming. The outer shell is coated with cocoa powder. The center is made with creamy dark chocolate.

Yes, you will spend a mini fortune here, but they are definitely worth trying.

I first fell in love with La Maison Du Chocolat in its country of origin - France. I couldn't stop falling in love with their chocolate covered fruit. Unlike most chocolates, La Maison Du Chocolat does not hide the flavor of their chocolate under grams & grams of sugar. And the coating of the chocolate doesn't overbear the flavor of the fruits they cover either. Amazing.

And one other MUST: Try the dark chocolate macaroon... I was floating on cloud 9 after my first bite. Imagine taking a bite of fluffy chocolate filling that tasted like the softest chocolate brownie that you've ever had in your life. Now imagine that in between two soft & luxurious macaron cookies. I love Laduree for their macarons but I think La Maison Du Chocolat has definitely exceeded them in terms of producing the chocolate macaron.

The service is excellent & the decor truly reminds me of Paris.

If you do not go to La Maison Du Chocolat, you are TRULY missing out.

My first experience with La Maison was receiving a variety of tiny chocolates in an ornately wrapped box as part of a larger care package. I didn't think much of it at the time (the brand, not the chocolate. The chocolate was amazing.) but when I first moved to NY, the harpies in my office would not shut up about macarons. Cough, I mean they (lovely women, all of them) insisted that I had to try macarons from these five places and tell them which was best. Now, as someone who makes his own macarons on occasion(say something emasculating, I dare you), I really didn't understand the hub-bub. Then I went on this (ig)noble macaron quest. Let's just say there's a reason I don't make macarons professionally. (That reason is it doesn't pay enough. Zing! But seriously, they are a massive pain in the ass to get right.)

I saved La Maison for last, and it didn't disappoint. While it wasn't my favorite, it was a close call. The chocolate filling is an interesting (and understandable) twist, but it does sometimes mask the base flavors of the macaron.

That said, you don't come here solely for macarons. I mean, you could, but that would make you a massive pillock. The hot chocolate varieties are fantastic, as is really any form of the chocolate itself. I don't think there's anything here that you shouldn't try at least once. Obviously a lot of it depends on what you're looking to get out of a chocolate, but trust me when I tell you they have pretty much anything for you. Unless you're a weirdo, and want some flash in the pan fad flavor that is questionable to add to chocolate in the first place, like yuzu or something. In which case...shove off, weirdo.

This may just be my favorite chocolatier in NYC.

Rich, luxurious hot chocolate. Dark chocolate. Orange. Macaron. I love everything about everything in here.

    Friendly staff.

You can never go back to Godiva after this.

From my previous reviews you may know that I date a chocolate lover. So what better way to get points last Valentine's Day than a box of chocolates from Le Maison du Chocolat?

Well...she thought they were good but had I spent the money on an English made Cadbury chocolate bar or a bar of Lindt milk chocolate at Economy Candy and the rest on tickets to Hawaii, I would have scored a lot more points!

CHOCOLATE HEAVEN! chocolate stores know all too well that giving you samples of chocolate will surely lure you in (although i'm not sure if they only let you sample if you make a purchase)

came in to get a chocolate macaron w/ "orange notes"... the filling was RICH & divine but the chocolate was so melty good it lost the chew of the macaron (i like my macarons a bit chewy)

as we were paying they let us sample the bresilien chocolate w/ espresso ganache YUM!! SO, i think i'll stick to the chocolate pieces here, although i've heard tall stories about their hot chocolate!

Sweet beautiful baby Jesus in the manger YES.

I've never had macarons before and all of a sudden I started seeing them everywhere. After doing a yelp search of macarons near my office, I was directed to La Maison Du Chocolat.

Let's just say La Maison set the bar pretty high for my first macaron tasting. I was unsure of which flavors to get, so I ended up getting the variety box of 6 for the price of $16.50.

I brought them back to my office, sat at my desk, bit into the vanilla one with the chocolate filling... and I swear time just stopped. The texture was perfect - very soft but not at all crumbly, complete with a rich chocolate filling. As a bride to be, my first thought was "OMG get these away from me" but luckily they were quite filling and I was pretty sated after my third one (don't judge me!)

My favorites are the vanilla w/ chocolate filling and the chocolate with the hints of orange. Worth every penny and highly recommended for splurging, a bad day at work, or times when you're happy to see me.

I am always on a search for the best macarons.  But I am beginning to thing that while there are really bad macarons, there is no one BEST.  I think that there are best macarons for many catagories.

La Maison Du Chocolat clearly has the best chocolate macarons.  Between each macaron from this store is some form of luscious chocolate ganache.  Regardless of the shell, whether vanilla, chocolate, etc., there is chocolate involved.

The macarons are moist and richly filled.  They are not nearly as brittle as the macarons at Laduree. This can make them a bit more perishable.  The moisture can permeate the cookies resulting in a lack of crispness after 3 days.

What I like about these macarons as opposed to Laduree's is the "in your face" chocolate flavor.  In my opinion, La Maison Du Chocolat's macarons are much better than any of Laduree's chocolate macarons.

In general, I even prefer the texture of the La Maison Du Chocolat macarons.  I don't like having little pieces of cookie fall on me as I eat the macaron.  This doesn't happen with La Maison Du Chocolat.

I hate to be a dissenting voice but .....
I have chocolate in my veins.  I was born into a family that adores chocolate.  My mother would go so far as to hide her best chocolates from her children (a habit I must confess to not only understand but indulge in myself as an adult).  I've eaten chocolate all over the world so my chocolate experience is quite wide.
Today I sampled a dark chocolate truffle.  It was creamy, melted nicely on the tongue and had a pleasant afterglow.  But, in my teenage son's words (mind you he is a utter chocolaholic as well -- in our family tradition) .."The French Truffles at Trader Joe's are just as good."  And, he is right...nor do they run $90 per pound either.
This is a boutique chocolate store, with a toney address and pretty ribbons on the presentation box ..  but it really is all about the chocolate.
While the truffle is very good, it is not extraordinary.

I promised my 5 yr old niece that I would bring her macarons when I went home for Thanksgiving. I intended to brave the line at Maison Laduree the day before flying out since those were the ones she had her heart set on. Serves me right for showing her the website. The day before leaving unfolds and I find myself in the midtown area with very little time to get to Laduree and finish everything else needed that day.

I couldn't go home without macarons hoping she'd forget. That 5 yr old doesn't forget a thing and I couldn't stand the thought of her looking at me sad with those big blue eyes. Then my friend suggested I grab some from La Maison Du Chocolat since we were only a few blocks away.

Walking into La Maison Du Chocolat from the tourist mob outside was like stepping into another world. The space was warm, calm, and beautiful. Everything looked amazing. I had to remind myself I was on a mission for macarons only. The woman behind the counter was helpful. I was able to get what I needed and go on about my evening quickly. My niece loved the macarons and since she can't read that well yet she didn't notice they weren't Laduree. They were a bit pricey (almost $50 for like 18), but she's totally worth it.

Anything to take out is good; getting a table to sit down and eat is not so good.

The first time I came here to buy a box of chocolate and macaroons, I was completely BLOWN away.
The texture of the chocolates and macaroons are superb, and it really does put all the other brands of chocolate to shame! After having Le Maison chocolates, Godiva and Jacques Torres all tasted mediocre, never mind Hershey's etc...
But did I mention a SMALL box of chocolates cost me 50-60$??

The macaroons here differ from Laduree and other places, because of the fillings which are all chocolate based, instead of being the flavor of a particular macaroon. (raspberry filling, vanilla filling...) So if you're a big fan of chocolate, you will love the macaroons here!

Dining in at Le Maison is a different story. My girl friend and I came here totally psyched to try out their in-house desserts, but were disappointed by the quality and taste, considering the price. I ordered the Rocher Lait Chocolate Bouchees which essentially turned out to be a slightly bigger version of a Ferrero Rocher chocolate ball. WAIT, except at 8$ + TAX AND TIP a piece....
My friend ordered an individual slice of something....after being told her top 2 choices were not available. We couldn't even remember what she ordered, because of the mediocrity. Tea was pretty average as well. Just keep in mind, you WON'T be picking up a MEDIOCRE BILL for what you get.

Four dollar signs for a chocolate shop? Sheesh. This must be where the billionaires buy their chocolate. When you first walk in, you'd think you walked into a high-end jewelry shop. Nope. But seriously, $80 for 1lb of chocolate? Definitely baller status...which is not me.

My co-worker decided to splurge and buy us the mini macaroons.  The result? A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. It was chocolate like I had never tasted before. It was SUPER rich, creamy, and left us all speechless. No wonder it's $2.75 a bite. However, I'd say it's definitely worth the splurge because this puts all other macaroons to shame.

    Luxurious French Macarons & Chocolate
    A Brilliant Gift For Chocoholics

When you can't fly to Paris or Tokyo you can certainly stop by this delicious midtown location. Cocoa and ice skating nearby? What a romantic way to spend an afternoon!   Delicate delicious macarons (egg whites, icing sugar, granulated sugar, almond powder or ground almond, and food coloring) and yummy ice cream.

My personal favorites from La Maison are Pistachio, Coffee, and Chocolate. The chocolate ice cream is to die for.

WOW this place is amazing.  Very quaint, small and cozy place, perfect to stop in and warm up after walking around Rockfeller Center on a cold January day. The service was amazing, the treats.... amazing!!.  I love chocolate and my kids love chocolate also this place was heavenly.  I had an espresso, with a mini macaroon..... okay macaroons ;)   Pistachio was delish! I also tried mango and chocolate.  My hubby had the hot chocolate which he said was like he remembers having in Paris. The boys had hot chocolate and both said it was too much chocolate, I guess at their young age they are not as adventurous as I thought when it comes to good chocolate.

A family of four came out of there with a $35 tab, but it's NYC and it's all about the experience, the great service and excellent quality of chocolate.

Too funny. Walking home from work, I had a hankering for some hot chocolate. I was on the phone with my sister, hung up and checked my Yelp app for the closest place, and this came up. Done and done. I went in and the man told me I could do the milk chocolate or the bittersweet and I opted for the milk because I knew it would still be dark. I thought it was so cute, he gave me a little wrapped chocolate with it... so cute until he went to the cash register and said "that will be $8.71."

    HFHDINKBKNJ^*()j!!!!????

I have gotten HAIRCUTS cheaper than that!! Almost nine dollars for a small cup of hot chocolate? Lord almighty! I tried to look rich and gave him a twenty but inside I couldn't wait to call my sister back and tell her about my 9 dollar cup of hot chocolate. She was pretty jazzed. It was really good but I would have been more than happy with a cup of crunchy mini-marshmallow Swiss Miss with chocolate powder chunks floating in it.

The macarons were surprisingly disappointing. I had the Quito (chocolate) and the Rigoletto (salted caramel chocolate). The Quito tasted like an average chocolate macaron, nothing special. I appreciated the flavor of the Rigoletto a little better, but again, nothing that blew me away. My expectations might have been too high, but what else would you expect from one of France's premier chocolatiers? Maybe I should have stuck with the famed truffles.

The hot chocolate on the other hand, was rich and luxurious. Very strong in flavor without being too sweet or sickening. The thickness and texture of this hot chocolate doesn't even begin to compare with those sugary, powdered "hot chocolate" mixes. It's pretty much what I used imagine the children drinking on the train in "The Polar Express." A childhood fantasy come true, at a steep price of $8 for a super small cup.

my first stop on my NY macaron tour.  i tried their caramel macaron and holy canoli!   it has the perfect combination of crispness on the outside shell and tenderness inside.  i was so astonished maracons can be like this.   it was a too little sweet for my taste, hence the 4 stars instead of the coveted 5.  if they dial down the sugar, i'd gladly give them a 5 in a heart beat.

i'm sure the staff looked at me and thought, "what a poor bum" as i stood there in my sweater, jeans, and sauconies, but service is polite and friendly.  the man behind the counter was kind enough to offer me a sample of chocolate and it was oh so delicious and rich.   my friend had gifted me a bag of their champage truffles.   to die for.

the only true downside is the cost. with obvious quality and care which goes into their products, comes the cost.  it was $3.75 for a small macaron and $5 for the larger macaron; the most expensive i've seen for macarons.  would i pay it again to indugle?  hell, yes!

When I went there at night, they only had a large caramel macaron. I guess I should have been there earlier if I want to try their regular sized macaron and their various flavors.

The large one was $5, which is reasonable considering it was at least twice the size of the normal sizes. The filling was a chocolatey caramel, but there was a little too much. The proportion felt off. However, it was still delicious and I'll have to return when they have their usual macaron options.

Yes, I do feel ashamed spending $35 on chocolate and macarons while hungry people could use that money to feed their family for a month. Trust me, when I get richer/famous, I'll make sure I do a lot of charity to pay back! For now, I need to enjoy the macarons while telling you how amazing the goodies at La Maison Du Chocolat are. Again, very shameful but it does worth every penny!

Macarons here are the traditional size like everywhere else yet they are $2.75 each, one box cost $16.50 (6 pieces). They qualified everything I expected from macarons: soft, melt-in-your-mouth, bursting of flavor from the shells. Then, when you hit the filling, the rich & darkness of chocolate will keep you coming back for the second piece! Just amazing! While other places usually distinguish the flavors (vanilla, hazelnut, coffee, raspberry etc.) by the fillings, the shells of the macarons at La Maison Du Chocolat are the difference and the fillings are all chocolate. I thought this might have overpowered the flavors of the shells because the chocolate is so strong and original already. Nevertheless, I had no problem eating them all! ^__^

I got another 5 or 6 pieces of chocolate and they were all heaven in your mouth. I cannot remember what the names were because they were so fancy! I just picked whichever one that sounded like it has alcohol, such as: Cognac, Whiskey...etc. You should follow my principle too, worked out pretty well for me!
Oh, no photo is allowed in this store. Don't know why they stress this! Are they that exclusive?

You get what you pay for, and from the service to the decor to the chocolate, this place is heavenly.

With a craving for macarons that I couldn't satisfy while in Washington, D.C., I tried La Maison du Chocolat. First, the presentation is so elegant. I almost didn't want to eat my box of macarons so that I could save them in their picturesque form indefinitely.

Five minutes later, they were all gone. I tried extremely hard to practice self-control, but after one bite of decadence, I became insane and gobbled up all six in one sitting. And I don't even like macarons with a ganache filling, so these are really something special.

My favorite, by far, was the Salvador: Chocolate raspberry macaron with a raspberry flavored chocolate ganache. Just wow.

Damn this store is hard to find!  There are no directory maps in Rockefeller Center and asking security and the staff of other stores, no one knew what I was talking about when I asked where Maison Du Chocolat was.  The storefront is next to the NBC entrance on the 30 building, I think it was the 49th street side.

Upon entering I was given a half piece of their coffee macaron to sample and also a ganache when I checked out.

I love the dark chocolate orangettes sachet and their ganaches are always a treat.  I've been craving the orangettes ever since I left Paris a few years ago.  If you're buying by the piece on the ganaches, they are $2.10 a piece.   Yes the chocolate is pricey.  It's about $105 a pound for the chocolate, and $73 a pound for the covered nuts.

There is a reason why they are arguably the best chocolatier in France.  These are chocolates you enjoy by the piece.  One a day, after your meal or with your drink, any more than that would be splurging.  Have a piece and you'll understand why.  I cringe when I see people eat French chocolates like they are popcorn, hurriedly stuffing their mouth with piece after piece.  These chocolates are like a beautiful woman, enjoy her presence, no need to rush.

If it's a hot day and you have some walking to do, ask for an ice pack with your purchase.  They are free.  My eyes bugged out when the lady came out with my ice pack because it was at the bottom of very cool looking cooler bag that looked like a purse.  Everyone has a Birkin these days, but who has Maison Du Chocolate bag that can double as a purse or lunch bag?  That's right... Me!

Like the chocolate. HATE the service. This ONE star is solely for this store at Rockefeller Plz. I will go to to other stores for La Maison du Chocolate because I DID enjoy the macarons and chocolate, but I will never return to this store again.

I was SO excited to buy some macarons and chocolates, and I read some good reviews about LMDC. Service started out fine, but ended horribly. I picked out all these chocolates, and instead of finishing up with me, the person who was helping me was assigned to the next customer, and no one replaced her... SO... I was standing there, waiting to just pay, watching another person who came in after me get helped. When someone finally noticed me, just twiddling my thumbs, she came to help me but she didn't know my order because she wasn't the one that originally helped me, so then chaos and confusion ensued.

I ask... why... WHY would you just not finish ringing me up and leave me, just standing there? What was the point of that? Was the guy who came in after me worth more of your attention? Illogical AND rude action on their part.

Even though I may go to another LMDC again eventually, it still brings back bad memories, so it'll be awhile before I make a return trip.

Came here specifically for the macarons. My friend and I are obsessed, and had to give these ones a try. There is variety to choose from- lemon, hazelnut, rapsberry, passion fruit, salted caramel, pistachio, light chocolate, milk chocolate, and dark chocolate. All of these are filled with a chocolate filling- which is actually the downside for me since I am not much a chocolate person. I tried the lemon and the salted caramel. Lemon was tart and the sweetness of the chocolate filling complemented it well. Cookie was delicious, comparable to those from Laduree. Salted caramel was interesting- was expecting a caramel filling, but instead was a chocolately caramel filling. Good- but I still prefer Laduree because not everything is filled with chocolate.

Also ordered the semi-sweet hot chocolate, which is veryyyy rich. It's like drinking liquid chocolate. It was good, but very decadent. I'm amazed that I was able to down the whole thing. $8 for a cup. Would've prefered some white chocolate- but maybe that isn't considered "real" chocolate....

Eight Stars! I was going to give them only five but aside from the place's ambiance and the quality of their edibles and drinkables, the way these folks go above and beyond in the customer service department far exceeds anything I've ever experienced anywhere in NYC.

    In a nutshell:
The chocolates are exquisite, delicious and extremely high in quality.
The ambiance is inviting, relaxing and comfortable.
The variety of what they offer is quite impressive.

All the above you can read about further in others' much more eloquent reviews, but now the reason for the highest rating I've ever given on Yelp so far - the staff:

I was brought here for the first time a while back by some visiting friends whom I hadn't seen in an lifetime who now live in Texas. This is one of their favorite places in NYC and they wanted to introduce me to it. The person at the chocolate counter was extremely friendly, patient, informative and helpful. After we'd made our choices, the salesperson brought the chocolates over to the register where my other friend had ordered us up three drinks, we were rung up and I paid. I took Hootie H's advice from her great review and didn't look at the price when I was signing.

We sat at a table for well over an hour talking, reminiscing, eating our chocolates, sipping our drinks and just having the best time in the world. Never did we ever feel rushed or pressured to give up our table even long after we had finished. After reading our minds and bringing us water before we were getting ready to finally leave, the most gracious lady who seemed to be in charge thanked us and another wonderful lady put what I thought was an itemized receipt for the original bill I'd paid on our table. I grabbed the receipt, left some cash as a tip and they all again thanked us and wished us a cheery adieu.

When I got home and looked at the receipt I'd stuffed in my pocket in order to get the info from it to write my review, I was aghast. It was a separate bill for the drinks! It was then that I realized that the bill I'd paid was for the chocolates only and we had walked out without paying for our drinks!!! I quickly called the number on the receipt, to give them my credit card info so they could then ring up the drinks we'd inadvertently skipped out on.

After explaining what had happened and how I wanted to pay over the phone with my card, much to my surprise, the kind lady (I believe it was the aforementioned head lady) told me not to worry about it, the drinks would be on the house. After I insisted a few more times, she still would have none of it and was incredibly nice about the whole embarrassing affair. She also managed to take away about 60% of my guilt (I'm Catholic) with her utter charm and grace.

Talk about class. They taught me a very important lesson that day about what class truly is: something that I and a lot of other people sadly seem to have forgotten and let slip by us in this dog-eat-dog city and world. As special as the comestible treats they served up were, the dessert on top of the dessert was a valuable reality check and a humbling yet very meaningful one, at that.

Needless to say, they won themselves over a very enthusiastic repeat customer that day with their most admirable class and graciousness (not to mention with their incredible chocolates in both solid AND liquid form too!).

This is the 2nd "spot" where I tasted some of those delicious macarons during my latest NYC trip.  (Check out my 1st review on macarons @ http://www.yelp.com/bi... )

Here, all the macarons are filled with guess....(Hint: it's in the name) CHOCOLATE!

I bought a box of 6 various flavored macarons.  My faves included green tea, coffee, & passion fruit.

It is a little expensive here (probably due to location), but if you are a chocolate and macaron fan, you might really enjoy this spot!

Maison du Chocolat looks like a jewelry shop. The chocolates and treats are encased in glass cases and presented so exquisitely, they might as well be jewels considering their pricetag!
But Maison sure does know a thing or two about presentation, which definitely lives up to the gooey, decadent chocolate filling that is the centerpiece of their amazing macaron. Looks good, but tastes even better.

conveniently located near one of the entrances to NBC headquarters! I stopped by and scooped some macarons up. I like that they all have rich chocolate inside them. Passionfruit was my favorite because it was tangy and mixed nicely with the chocolate. Raspberry was so-so, the chocolate overpowered the raspberry taste. I think since the chocolate filling alone is so strong, the chocolate flavored macarons would be too much chocolate. Definitely pricey, so I can't come here too often, but once in a while people deserve to spoil themselves right?

One of my absolute most favorite places to visit in the city! Best truffles ever. Such a special place to grab a warm coco and the most delicious chocolate. The macaroons are soooooo good! Mail order is just not the same as going in and picking the pieces out that are flown over from Paris. Ah-mazing! I need to bribe someone in our NY office to stop by and pick up some goodies to FedEx to me ;) very, very soon. Not all locations serve beverages or have tables to sit down, but this one surely does.

located on the outside of rockefeller center.  very rich, super concentrated chocolate (they give you a piece after you buy something).  tried a caramel and a chocolate macaron.  a bit different (less delicate) compared to laduree and pierre herme.  denser ganache, light outside, super rich, thus the highlight is really the chocolate.

La Maison du Chocolat has spoiled me in the sense that I will not eat macarons from anywhere else.

Their macarons are soft, creamy, and ultimately melt in your mouth in a chocolatey mixture.  What more can you ask for?

Pricey?  Yes.  Small quantity?  Most definitely.  But it's worth every bite.  I've tried macarons from many bakeries/pastry shops and I haven't had one that tops this one.  But then again, Laduree might change my mind.

I just went there this afternoon and this place impressed me more than Laduree did. The hot chocolate was heavenly and I completely forgot about the calories. Macarons are on par with Laduree and you get table service and no waiting time! Highly recommended!

Up until now, I always walked into La Maison Du Chocolat and walked out empty handed. I felt the environment to be too stoic and the chocolates too grand for my weekly paycheck.

"You should try the hot chocolate," my Parisian expert Stacey C told me. On her last visit to Manhattan, we just stared through the windows and kept on walking. Actually, I think LMDC was closed.

Winter hot chocolate excursion. I had a conflicting engagement and could not make it into the city. The hot cocoa was sold out and Helena H settled for some macarons and truffles. We failed to connect soon after and I missed out on the chocolate. She also couldn't wait and ate all the macarons herself.

On my walk heading downtown before dinner, I stopped over in Rock Center to kill some time. After utter and complete boredom clothes shopping, I decided to stop into LMDC for a macaron. I wanted to try something new and one macaron couldn't do much damage.

I walked in searching for the macarons and of course did not see them immediately. I also felt the same feeling of distance from warmth in the store. Perhaps this is due to the temperatures kept to preserve the chocolates. I asked the saleslady about the macarons. She pointed to the shelf on the wall and proceeded to explain the flavors to me. Of course they were stored behind the counter and on a shelf. Don't even ask how much they cost. Instead of getting just one I gave in. I threw my wallet in the air and walked out with a variety pack. I figured I would share them with the ladies for an after dinner dessert.

One bite of the Romeo and my senses went into overdrive. It was as if the light bulb above my head went on. About a year ago, Mister Dessert Atif I taught me the basics of a proper macaron. LMDC was indeed proper. In fact, I think it is the best macaron I've ever had. It is better than Bouchon's and more refined than La Maison du Macaron's. LMDC's macarons are simple but rich and indulgent. They are free of cracks and bumps, have the perfect ratio of ganache to cookie, and dissolve elegantly in your mouth. You won't have to worry about them crumbling into a thousand pieces.

The dessert portion of our meal that night took a slight detour and macarons were passed up. Lucky for me, I got to enjoy the macarons for another two days. I understand why Helena H ate all the macarons instead of sharing. When you have easy access to something so decadent, it's hard to have will power.

LMDC is slowly warming up to me. I think the next time I visit I will pass on the macarons and try a bonbon instead. While the saleslady was going on about raspberry and dark chocolate ganache filled macarons, I was hypnotized by the $8.00 chocolate praline bouchee. A bouchee is a larger bonbon.

I want that baseball sized bonbon.

    Found my chocolate haven!

Bored and down at work I decided I needed a mood booster and went out to get some chocolate ice cream.  Decided to come here since I've passed it a couple of times and it looked pretty good.

Inside this place, it's decorated with really expensive chocolate and seemingly knowledgeable chocolate connoisseurs behind the counter.  Though it looks expensive, from the inside, it seems rather inviting as long as I asked whether or not I was allowed to sit.  But I decided to take my ice cream on the go.  $4.90 for each of the self serve cups.  As I was paying the person who was assisting me handed me a full size sample of one of their chocolates and surely it was supremely decadent.  I think that drew me to their establishment  more than their ice cream did.

Not that the ice cream wasn't good. Its chocolatey flavor excellently exceeded the sweetness of the ice cream which I hardly find in chocolate ice creams.  Its just that I crave ice cream so rarely that I don't expect to think about buying it very soon.

Yes it is super expensive (Like $2.50 per truffle and $16 for 6 macaroons) but definitely worth it.  Actually now feel ripped off when buying convenience store chocolate.  Tastes like 99% sugar, 1% cocoa much compared to Le Maison's.   Will definitely come back to try a few of their truffles!

Do you know the difference between Le Maison and regular chocolates???

             Le Maison                                                       Others
    - Expensive                                                     - Affordable
    - You don't share it with friends                      - You give it away
    - You eat one piece per day                           - You finish it within 5 minutes
    - You moan.........                                            - Just Ok Satisfied
    - You will go back again                                  - You'll just think about it
    - You make people to buy it for you                - You get it yourself.

I personally love the Truffles and MACARONS!!
$ 8.00 for the hot Chocolate. TO DIE FOR! (thick and trust me, you should "sip" it instead of Chugging the drink.

    Macaron: 5/5

Came here with Tiffany D, Hans H and Janice C. for Macaron Day NYC 2011.

OmFG, the hazelnut macaron was just like ferrero rocher.
The Chocolate macaron was soooo soft and melted in my mouth. I still liked the hazelnut better.

There isn't much of a flavor selection and the macarons are SMALL compared to La Maison Du Macaron. They do have a giant macaron in very limited flavors.

I deducted 1 star because the lady delivering the macaron ignored all the guys and gave macarons to all the ladies. I stood there for 30 seconds hoping that she'd notice me and give me a macaron.

Would I come here? No, my heart is set on La Maison Du Macaron.

Deliciously smooth chocolate, but a big dent in the pocket. This storefront is really cute, looking especially European compared to the other shops surrounding it. I went early morning so there wasn't anyone but me and my boyfriend in the shop, but that's okay.

The chocolate and macaroons all looked so delicious, but I honestly wasn't expecting it to be that expensive (even though it is $$$$ on Yelp, I kept thinking--how expensive can chocolate get?) I ended up just buying a small 4-piece praline milk and dark chocolate assortment for $12. And when I say small, I mean SMALL. The chocolate pieces were bite sized--expensive bites if you ask me.

But, I have to say, it melted in my mouth and tasted (pretty much) like heaven :) Also, at checkout, the lady gave me and my boyfriend free tastings. Yum!! I would give 5 stars, but the price tag left me a little more struck than I thought it would.

    Daannnngggg!

Pricey! $2.50 / truffle?!?!?! $8 for a small hot cocoa?!?! This student can't afford to raid this candy store BUT she can come INHALE the deliciousness that is La Maison. Come SAVOR a piece of chocolate or inhale their hazelnut macaroon. You might want to skip out on a few Snicker bars and save up to splurge on a truffle or two. :)
