My first visit was in 1987. Yep. I've been coming here for over 20 years.

For me, the lounge "Next Door" is new and yet its been there for years. It used to be the parking lot...

This place has been consistant since the day Frank opened the place.

La la loveee La Loggia! Great, friendly service and amazing food. Their tapas are excellent as well as their full menu. La Loggia is one of the best restaurants in the Valley!

Meh, there are so many other restaurants that are just WAY better!  The food is decent, but hardly memorable. I personally thought the calamari breading was far too heavy and perhaps overcooked. If you are eating in the are go to Firefly or Spark.

The decor presents a warm and inviting ambiance that would be perfect for a date or a casual business meeting.  Combine the two and choose this spot to start up that tawdry office affair.

The problem is that I live in North Beach, the Italian neighborhood in San Francisco.  My benchmark for Italian food became inextricably skewed.  The bar is now set very high.  La Loggia falls squarely in the middle of what I'd consider fine Italian cuisine.  Better luck with the secretary.

Mini hamburgers.

That is all.  They are NO JOKE.

Steak tartar app is pretty good, and I'm  a fan of the salads served in stemless wine glasses..

I love people watching "Next Door" at the lounge...drinks flow easily, crowd is a mix..if you get bored wander up the street to Firefly.

This is a charming/classy place. You must have the mini hamburgers. If you're in the mood to keep partying after dinner, move one over to the attached lounge. Good music, drinks, and sexy decor.

I had heard of this place from a friend - no recommendation, just that they had eaten there before - so early Saturday evening, on a whim, me and the wife dropped in...
I was wearing a Hawaiian shirt ( a classy one - LOL) and shorts, the wife was dressed to the nines (as always) - so when we walked in, I was a tad underdressed.  HOWEVER, it was early, and it was an older crowd. By the time we left, I ended up being better dressed that 1/2 the men who stumbled in....
We ate on the patio (a small table off to the side) and had a great time.  We started with the pizza and chopped salad, the main course the pork chop, with Peroni's and martini's throughout.  The food was solid, with the atmosphere and service wonderful.  The other customers appeared to be having the same good time as us.  We will definitely add La Loggia to our list....

The Next Door Tapas Lounge is a separate but attached room which is connected and entered through La Loggia Restaurant.

It is a dramatic space of dark browns and glowing red lights, with soaring ceilings and seductive low leather benches arrayed around a central fireplace. From the exterior, there is no sign on saying "Next Door Tapas Lounge". You have to know it's there--behind the blank opaque glass window.

The architecture is tactile, seductive and inviting. This is where you go when you want to have a quiet conversation with a beautiful woman, while drinking a glass of Spanish red and munching on a low calorie kabob or cheese plate.

The waiters are as appealing as the decor, basically beautiful young women in their 20's. The bartender, who was named David, is one of those six foot tall, blue eyed guys with a firm handshake and broad shoulders, who earnestly puts forth his hand when you sit down at the bar.  He looks like he just came from an audition, or perhaps the gym.  He knows his drinks and can impersonate empathy if you feel like talking.

There is a second floor, suitable for parties, artfully hidden behind a wall of chains. The style of the room recalls the sixties, with rectangles and squares, dark woods and sophistication.

Some of the tapas includes: Baked scallops, chicken skewers, garlic bread with Spanish ham and cheese, tortilla omelette with scented mayonnaise dip, lamb stew kabobs, salads, and Ahi tuna noshes.

The crowd varies, but often includes groups of young women, or couples on dates. It is mostly straight, but sometimes you will spot a gay person, or think you do.  The cardinal rule: just look good no matter who you are.

Well, I've driven by this place many many many many times and always wondered what was behind those twinkly lights and greenery on the building. It looked so cute and swanky and purdy and I thought it was one of these pricey places that were super dressy and niiiiiice. So on this past rainy Friday, my friend invited me to join her and her friend for lunch and I couldn't pass up the chance to finally give this place a go.

I walked in and it was kinda cute, definitely not as adorable as I had hoped for but it was put together nicely and there was a beautiful fresh bouquet of flowers which offered a nice whiff of awwhhh as I walked in. Once at the table we enjoyed our warm buttered flat bread with the balsamic and oil and fresh herb dip and looked over the menu. Nothing really jumped out at me as WOW, but everything looked okay.

The waiter then came over and told us the specials and the homemade linguini with filet mignon, spinach, mushrooms and garlic sounded yummy so we ordered that, along with the calamari. It arrived in a nice and timely manner and the presentation was lovely. The taste however, hmmm, just okay really. I really was hoping for sensational, but maybe my expectations were too high. I did end up finishing the dish and was definitely satisfied, it just wasn't of the OH MY GOD variety, ya know.

I would like to come back and try the tapas side of the restaurant at some point, but it won't be at the top of my list.

Amazing bread/amenities.  If you judge restaurants by the opening bread, this is your place. And, get the bone-in pork chop.

There are only six items on the menu.  There are specials but our waiter didn't mention them any of the few times we were able to corral him.  In all fairness he was the only waiter in the restaurant.  He handled both sides despite the fact the owner was there and didn't seem to do much but be the owner.

Get the bone-in pork chop!!  It was so damn good.  If I was Jewish I would have converted just to eat this pork.  Stay away from the Pentelone. [Funkiest meatloaf I have ever had].  Get yourself porked.

There wasn't an opportunity to test a chicken Marsala dish since they don't have that here.  But that's o.k.  This was a second choice for us -- Spark had a 1.5 hour wait despite the fact that no one was waiting.

The crowd was the White Wealthy Whale crowd that buys the best seats at the Hollywood Bowl and then doesn't go.  At least I fit 2 out of 3 according to Captain Ahab.

Dessert was o.k. - chocolate souffle a la mode.  BTW - everything is a la carte and that adds up real fast.  The place loses a star for not being more responsive and the hit and miss menu.  At those prices the taste buds better be tappin' ass every time.

Oh Yeah - did I mention to get the bone-in pork chop!?! Mmmmm. Tasty!!!

The entrance is confusing.  I walked in and wandered into the Next Door Lounge by mistake.  Had to flag down a server to find out whether it was La Loggia; it wasn't.  The actual restaurant is mood lighting, white tablecloths, earnest servers, pretty good food.  The polpetone (meatloaf) sounded much more tasty than it proved to be, while the accompanying spaghetti was pure garlic heaven, but the filet was well-cooked and delicious.  A solid Chianti made it all all right.

Afterwards we went into the Next Door Lounge for a whiskey.  It's very LA fleshpond swanky: leather couches and brown square blocks for seating, a central beaded fireplace and lighting fixtures inspired by Design Within Reach, a cute male bartender and servers whose tight tops display overly large racks (I'm all for breasts, but I value proportion in purchases and architecture).  The crowd was Valley-hot (clean-cut, trying a bit too hard) rather than Hollywood (smokin' grunge). Despite the thumping club beat, we managed an intimate conversation.  After one drink, though, the artifice wore us out.

Jose the bartender said that they had a mini-burger special that night.

I think I had five orders of them. (They were really mini.)

The carpaccio and ahi tuna here is delicious too.

Atmosphere here is nice and service is not snobby like other places in greater LA.

The Next Door Lounge

Great during off times. On the weekends, its packed, which is fun sometimes. Great wine selection, and desserts are good so far. There is usually some fun celebrity spotting (passions cast & scrubs cast to name a few). The Tapas are ooooook. I haven't been blown away yet, but other than that, they have good tunes playing, and great people watching.
A good place to start your night.... or maybe finish it.

Solid food in the main restaurant, but right next door at the aptly named "Next Door" they have their new tapas restaurant and bar that's certainly one of the coolest new spaces in the Valley. The tapas are more traditional than at MiniBar up the street, but certainly no less tasty. If you're not hungry, it's worth stopping by just to have a drink in the bar. Enjoy..................G

I live within walking distance and go there rather often.  Most of the time, it's wonderful.  The pastas are especially tasty.  However, our last meal there was not so great.  I was happy with my entree but my wife was highly disappointed.  She ordered the prawn special and the prawns were overcooked and scrawny.  All in all, stick with the pasta and you won't be disappointed.  The wine list is very affordable but the desserts could be better.  Not bad for a neighborhood joint.

Came here with a customer.  We were a bit early for lunch but was seated immediately.  I had the angle hair pasta with shrimp and the goat cheese salad.  The salad was excellent but the angle hair pasta was not as fine as I hoped for.  In any case, the seasoning (garlic) and flavor was nice.  Oh and the steak tartar appetizer was good!
