Delicious!

The burritos are absolutely awesome here, as is the horchata. I'm not a huge fan of the enchiladas in red sauce (too tomato-y, not enough chile flavor), but have never, ever had a bad burrito here.

My only complaint is, I wish this place were a little bigger! I never seem to be able to find a table during my lunch hour, so I always end up having to get takeout. :(

This is one of my bf's favorite stops when we are in the area.  I have to say that it's not bad, just that I wasn't feeling it that day when I had it... until I had the nachos.  I was iffy at first when he ordered it since I thought it would have been just beans, cheese, bits of meat thrown around on the plate until I actually saw the waitress set it down & I was like "holy sh*t".  The portion was really large & I have to say they weren't stingy on anything; lots of meat, cheese, sour cream, guacamole, chopped tomatoes. YUM!  Washed it down with the horchata; not bad since some can be watered down.

The dish I ordered was the tacos alongside with the rice & beans.  Eh it was okay... I became pretty full from the nachos.  I've had better tacos.

The added star for four because of the friendly service. They are really consistent and are there to make sure everything is going along well. Great service & a good amount of food to fill up on. Not bad prices.

I recently ordered the chicken super burrito, and it was delicious.  Its girth was most impressive, and a lot thicker than what I am normally accustomed to from taquerias.

The shredded chicken was amazing, seasoned to a juicy perfection that gives it a unique texture and flavor sensation from the standard chunks of whole chicken meat in traditional burritos.  The most striking thing about the burrito was the incredibly fresh guacamole that they used in the filling.  Those not used to such freshness will undoubtedly be a little surprised when they first bite into one.

The only minus I give this restaurant is that they could use a lot of improvement in the chips they serve (at extra charge).  Other taquerias I have been to fry their complimentary chips fresh all day long.  The chips at La Hacienda tasted like they were from a store bought bag.

Overall I am impressed, and they have an expanded menu which I am looking forward to trying in the future (especially the chicken mole burrito)

Let me start by saying the food here is great!  I live right around the corner and this place is a good place to dine-in.  However, if you DARE to do take out then beware.  In just the course of a week they have messed up the order 2 times.  The most recent experience the manager took the time to explain the mistake to her employee all the while my food just sat on the counter getting cold.  I understand the need to teach employees to do things correct but they attempted to overcharge me in the process and my food was cold by the time that they sorted this mess out.  I recommend dining in as the food is good but do not do take out or you will never want to go back.

I have been going to this place now for the last five years on a regular basis.  there are some negative  reviews on here and that is okay.  Everyone has a bad day, but you shouldn't take it out on an eatery on yelp just because you are having a bad day.  You should go to a place to eat a couple or a few times before you hand down final judgment.  the burritos are awesome.  The servers are always friendly.  Great spot for lunch in the summer time at an outdoor table.  Me and my wife both get burritos and drinks here and spend a whopping fifteen dollars.

I was pretty impressed that they threw in chips and a couple of different types of salsa with my to-go burrito without my having to ask. That seems to be more and more rare at taquerias these days. Honestly, I wasn't a big fan of their Al Pastor, but it was a good burrito otherwise, and I think with a different meat it'd be great.

This is my second favorite burrito place that's north of the Golden Gate and not only happens to be in Novato but ALSO on the same side of Grant Avenue as Mi Pueblo III!
The burritos are definitley quality and full of flavor and the prices are definitley right! The salsa was very good, too.

When we first moved to Novato this was our dinner spot almost every other night (because it is close to our house and we didn't know where else to go). The food is good and not to pricey. Once in awhile I would get a little bit of a 'tude from the lady placing our take out order but nothing to major. They are a bit stingy on the to-go chips and when I ask to BUY another bag they get a little annoyed. All in all the place is good.

We're repeat customers. Great food, always served hot, with generous portions.  Fast friendly service. Nice decor. Homey.

Great cokes, love their cokes here. Not sure why, but they are just always so delicious and thrist quenching.  And love the complimentary chips and choice of sauces, red, green, and fresh chunky picante.

I do have to honestly say that fish entrees here are not their best menu item. But everything else I've ordered has always been really good, and I've always gone away a happy customer.

These burritos are OK. Taqueria Del Pueblo down the street are much better.

These tacos are OK. Taqueria Del Palmar (next to Marvins) are way the hell better.

Skip this place. It is mediocre. At least Fernando's has a bar if you are going to have mediocre Mexican food.

Great burritos? Please.

Okay, I am a burrito master... let that be known.  Novato is lucky enough to have many great Mexican Food joints, and IMHO this one is the best in town.  La Hacienda has great prices, a great selection, and their meats are top notch.

The service is perfect, and I have never come away not LOVING my meal, and also loving the second meal which is the other half of my HUGE 'super burrito'.

For the kids the have awesome cheap quesadillas, and for mom and dad they have some beers, and such.

La Hacienda wins 'Best Burrito in Town' from me.

One of the few things I miss about living and working in Novato. This place covers all the bases a taqueria should cover - cheap food, fast service and big portions.

My favorite was always their shredded chicken quesadilla. Oh man, I need to visit my parents soon so I can grab lunch here.

Chicken super burrito was mediocre, although not bad. It just didn't make my taste buds tingle. The prices were fair and the service is excellent - the servers were at our table all the time asking if we wanted refills on water or asking how our meal was. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here, but if I was in the area, I'd most likely stop on by.

6/18/2008 3 Check-ins Here

One of my favorite places to grab lunch in Novato. Out of all the places to get a burrito in Novato, this is my spot. They do a really good carnitas here that I can appreciate. Outdoor seating is really a plus and sometimes I mix it up and try other things and it's been good so far. The only thing I didn't love was the fajitas, but that's ok because I can always go back to the staples. Prices are reasonable, service is usually good. This is the spot.

deliciosa to the max. huge plates of delicious, hot food. all the bags of hot chips and tasty salsa you want (to go.. in the restaurant it's all-you-can-eat) at great prices.

one weird thing.. when i ordered to-go, i twice was charged the wrong price that i signed for.

$6.37 signed the receipt.. yet $7.87 on the bank statement? i'm wondering if they are slipping a little 'extra' on the tips, hoping no one will notice, and reap the benefits at the end of the day? i'll bring cash.

This is a really good place. The food was fresh and delicious. The portions are huge. The price is right. My fellow Yelpers have bestowed five stars on La Hacienda and, IMHO, their exuberance has the best of them. This slightly nicer than average hole-in-wall Mexican place, which has attentive service if you eat-in, may be deserving of the "Best Burrito In Town" designation, but for my fifth star they have to improve their salsa and clean-up the place a little more. The salsa is not bad, but it is awesome down the way at Tommy's Salsa. The place is generally clean, but they need to attend to a few minor details to be worthy of star number five. In the meantime, I expect to be a regular.

Consistently reliable when you have a burrito craving and need a "fix". Service can be spotty, but all you have to do is flag them down. And for these prices, what do you expect?

Excellent Burritos! Fast service, Great salsa, Friendly empoyees. beer and wine selection. I had to give it a four becasue my all time favorite burritos come from a different restaurant. But you have to switch it up sometimes, so I should really give this place a five.

La Hacienda Taqueria
This place cost more than the average taqueria in the area, and not necessarily worth the extra money. Although, they do have a great green/guacamole mix salsa that is served with thin crisp freshly fired chips, not from a box. Today, I had to change it up, so I had Caldo Siete Mares. My wife had a chicken taco and a carne asada taco with rice and beans. If you haven't had Caldo Siete Mares, this isn't the place to experiment, I wasn't counting but I think it had only three different seafood's and very little of the three at that. The broth was bland and the flavor was absent.  The tacos were just below okay. The meats on both were of ground round consistency and crispy on the outside with no inside. They were done Sonoma Style, but way overdone. The rice looked great on the plate, but was tasteless when tested. The pinto beans faired a little better; in fact they were the best of the day. They were soft, yet firm, not really watery not too starchy, and just right on the saltier side of beans. They could use a lesson in QS&C. Especially in the bathrooms. It could be because they pack in a lot of chairs in this small 69'x15 foot location and the place does not facilitate cleanliness. I plan on giving these guys another chance, it had a nice atmosphere and I read a lot of good things about them. I just don't think I'll be going back too soon.

I came here on other people's recommendations.  The first time, it was good, pretty tasty.  The second time, wasn't the same.  It was sub-par.  The enchilladas were amatuer and the black beans were tasteless.   It tasted like boiled beans, not even salt or any flavorings.  I don't know if it's an off-day for them or not.  So my experience of this place has been inconsistent.

Sorry to be the party pooper here but I'll never go back to this place.  I ordered the seafood plate and received a disgrace.  I paid $10.95 for two small clams, some scraps of fish, two shrimp with the shells on and gnarly back veins intact, and one crab claw that I had to battle with to produce two bites of crab meat.  The rest of the plate was filled with your basic beans and rice.  I can go to Boca and get a huge pot of excellent mussels and clams for half the price during happy hour (4:30pm to 6:30pm, the menu is supurb and reasonable).
Service was terrible.  I had to flag down the waitress for lime for my beer, another beer (again, no lime), the check, and a box to go, which turned out to be a paper plate with foil on top.  Funny thing is I watched another table get a freakin' box.  What's up with that?
Maybe you only go to this place for burritos, tacos, a general aura of uncleanliness, and lack of service but I'll never know.  I'm done.
On a positive note, the salsas are good.  They are what garner the one star rating.

I don't know what keeps pulling me back to this place... The service is far from great, the food takes forever to come out, and there's nothing exciting about the location or interior atmosphere. Somehow all of the negatives seem to be outweighed at the first bite of a massive super burrito smothered in a red special sauce. It must be the sauce...
