Review Highlights
I don't have to say it over and over again, but I guess I'm going to because I completely believe in full disclosure: I am not a lover of the Tex-Mex.
As usual, however, the company took us out for lunch, chose another Mexican restaurant and since they were footing the bill, who am I to complain? I'm not! I love free food almost as much as I love free alcohol and free samples at Costco.
The ambiance is, um, interesting? It's like a cross between staying at a log cabin, visiting a hunter's house, and a bunch of really, ugly, cheesy interior design. Or wait, are those all the same things?
In any case, the margaritas are delicious, and surprisingly so was the food! I had the brisket tacos and they really hit the spot. I normally don't eat the rice that comes on the platters (more of a fan of the beans) but I gobbled the rice up too.
All in all, everyone seemed satisfied with their meals and I quite enjoyed my experience. Especially since I didn't have to pay for it! I would definitely take my husband here for a nice, cheesy decor event, and a yummy meal.
Their food was fantastic and the service was great. The salsa is REALLY spicy though. I couldn't even handle more than a tiny bit on a chip. I ordered the enchiladas without the jalapeno and onion relish, and it wasn't spicy at all. The queso was also excellent.
My girlfriend ordered their cheapest margarita, and it wasn't good, but my friend ordered a more expensive one and liked his. I would have given 5 stars, if not for how hot their salsa is.
We went to this Tex-Mex chain for dinner. I asked what exactly is Tex-Mex, but the locals weren't able to pinpoint it. I can't speak for the authenticity, but it seemed to be a very family friendly place (very big). Cheesy decor.
I went with one of their Tex-Mex combos--a cheese enchilada with chili, soft cheese taco, crispy beef taco, and a guacamole filled tostada. It wasn't great, but it was okay. Lots of cheese. Pretty reasonably priced.
In terms of the dessert, the pecan pie (drenched in syrup and ice cream) was good, but it was definitely a heart attack on a plate (or, in this case, a sizzling plate). I need to do a little more research next time on Yelp and make sure I find the best Tex-Mex place around Dallas.
In addition to Tex-Mex, I will have to try their BBQ place nearby (Hard Eight). It sounds interesting. They slow cook meat over open pits, and you order by the pound. It is all about the meat there--sides are limited.
I was pleasantly surprised by the food at this chain restaurant and also by the good service we received. The under 19 hostesses aside, everyone was very responsive to our needs during our meal service. The gigantic appetizer platter was good, especially the deep fried jalapenos. Those that ordered tex-mex did well and the lone steak eater ended up sharing bites with us all...well done La-Ha.
Consistently good food and of course great margaritas at the home of the frozen margarita machine. Their fajitas are always superior. We recommend the fajita feast because the grilled shrimp adds a delicious extra touch to the standard steak and chicken skillet.
We are told the deserts are great but we don't know - so much good food and appetizers that we never have room to try any!
All of my friends who come to visit absolutely love this place and look forward to returning. I'm not quite sure why. They say it's very "Texas" with the saddle barstools, ranch-style rooms and great steak fajitas.
Is it my friends who are lame? Or is it just Texas?
One word: AMAZING. We JUST got home and it was so good, I felt the need to immediately yelp it!
This was the best tex-mex food I have EVER had. The steak fajitas were so tender and perfectly cooked -- the veggies that came with it were still crisp and not mushy. The tableside guac was heavenly -- excellent flavor. The margarita was incredible, and the chicken enchilada was so moist and tender -- and the cheesy sour cream sauce that was on top of it literally made me shudder with delight.
Last, but not least -- you HAVE to have their blackbottom pecan pie. It literally is like crack. It comes sizzling on an iron plate with a chocolate/caramel sauce underneath, and a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top of what is the BEST pecan pie I have ever had. It was creamy, not too painfully sweet, and the pecans were perfect.
My stomach hurts SO bad from forcing all that food in -- I just couldn't stop! Thank god I don't live near here otherwise I would be about 500 lbs.
The damage to the wallet was as expected: For two entrees, one app, two margaritas and one dessert, we were out the door at $75.
When I get back to Denver tomorrow, I am heading straight to the gym. I am one stuffed dude. Was looking through Dallas Yelp for a Mexican place I've been to in or near Euless. Found the reviews to this place along the way.
A bit apprehensive of the size, we entered, greeted by the friendly host & hostess. Seated, I went for the top shelf frozen marg, and the tableside guac. I would have liked a bit of heat to the guac; otherwise, it was fresh & tasty with neverending basket of tortillas.
My main was the Sundance Steak, medium. It was covered with a slightly spicy sauce, accompanied by rice, beans, pico & an enchilada! Talk about overstuffed! The steak was cooked to my specs, and was excellent.
Too much food!
The fajitas are always a treat at The Ranch. The fajita platter feeds four, says the menu, but we've always had plenty to eat with groups of up to 8. You CANNOT skip dessert at LaHa. They have the best skillet apple and pecan pie in DFW. Save up your calories -- this is definitely the place to splurge.
Went in for Tex-Mex, but somehow ended up having the filet. I'm more of a rib-eye type of guy, but this filet was FAN-TAS-TIC. The Double Diamond Filet was recommended to me by the bartender as the best dish in the house, and it truly was one of the better steaks I have had in a while. Definitely on par, if not better, than most high end steakhouses. Surprisingly, at a moderately priced Tex-Mex restaurant. Cooked and seasoned perfectly, unlike the bone-in rib-eye that was too salty at JR's, just right next door (which was unfortunate for such a good piece of meat). The skillet potatoes that came with the steak was pretty darn good too. The chips and salsa (it IS a Mexican place) was also great.
Will try the fajitas the next time I'm in town.
I quit eating here a long time ago for the following reasons:
1.) The food quality at the specific Restaurant is nothing like it is in Frisco
2.) Customer service is below adequate
3.) Nothing they sale I can't get some place else for equal or less in price and twice the quality
4.) Way too pricey when you consider points 1 and 2.
Yes, yes, yes.
La Ha is the way to go. I have enjoyed their chips and freshly made salsa for quite a many year. There has only been a handful of not as "normal" service. Due to some other tables requesting something beyond normal for everyone else OR somebody is just new to working there and needs some seasoning.
There is a lovely little gal that works there that (last time I checked) is in the Catering part now that is an AWESOME server! 0 complaints when she is there serving the food. She is there placing more chips/drinks/salsa till your food arrives. When she does it, the food is there HOT & QUICK.
There has been a method of madness when you go to La Ha and that is get a La Ha CARD. And go every Tuesday, its double punch Tuesday and when your card is punched out...Free meal up to $20!!! Then you can enjoy one of their Steaks and devour it to your hearts content.
My ex hated it, but I and some of my former co-workers loved it.
Dear La Hacienda Ranch
I miss you so much. I had a loyal relationship with you for so many years then I moved to Austin and I have been unfaithful. I am sorry; but, I promise to come get me some food every time I visit my family who still lives in Colleyville and just minutes a way.
I fell in love with you at first sight - I love the log cabin hacienda exterior and hard wood and leather interior.
I admit I was a bit boring in the beginning of our relationship always ordering the same Chicken Fajitas that were so perfect and always left me satisfied. Then just before I moved away I got curious and started ordering other items. The King Ranch Shrimp - shrimp stuffed with cheese and jalapeno wrapped in bacon (I peel off the bacon so I can keep my girlie figure but all the flavor is still there) with refried beans (instead of rice) and grilled veggies - blows my mind. And the slow roasted Brisket soft Tacos leave me limp and in need of a nap..
I love that you let me be creative and invent my own Margarita with a good selection of ingredients and tequilas.
And your pecan praline knocks my socks off...........
I promise I will drop by next time I am in town
Love,
Tara
A piece of trivia for you: the frozen margarita was invented by the founder of this place!
Maybe I'm really lucky, but I've only had good food and service here. Mariano's is a lot closer to home, but I prefer the atmosphere at La Hacienda. If you have out-of-state company coming, this is a good place to take them for a tex-mex experience. The log cabin atmosphere gives this place a cozy quality without seeming contrived. It doesn't seem overpriced, really--you get a lot of food, and the quality is excellent. I particularly like the fajitas "sundance style." Noticeably absent from the menu--chimichangas. I can forgive that though because there's plenty of other good food.
Yep, I like Tex-Mex and this one is another hit! Never had a bad meal in this place. Good food, good drinks, nice staff, good service, friendly atmosphere, comfortable seating... this place is all good!
Sucks for you Karen...
I haven't seemed to have any bad experiances here. Yes it is pricy... but it's worth it in my opnion. The Salsa is quite good. I have never tasted anything like it. This place is known for it's mixture of Texas BBQ and Mexican food... and it works very well. I had the fajitas which were great. I recomend it if money isn't the only thing driving you to eat.
Good food, pretty busy all the time, semi loud.
When we lived in DFW, we would dine here several times a month. It was always great for groups because the dining areas are spacious and the menu is varied. The service was attentive and if you drink, the margarita's are first rate. Parking lot is ample too!
Similar to what another reviewer wrote, the prices are a little high, but I don't think they're *that* outrageous.
My two favorite items there? OK, I'm weird. One is free, and the other doesn't exist anymore!
Chips & salsa. Their salsa is excellent, a nice smoky flavor without overwhelming heat. Good thing that they'll keep refilling it for you...
And, sadly, the buffalo burger is no longer on the menu. And it's not a "hidden" item either, I asked, but it's just not available anymore. It had a good meaty flavor without being too "gamey", and was quite lean too. Now, they've got "angus beef" burgers instead, but everybody's got those, so it's nothing special.
If you want something other than steak, the fajitas are good, and so are the salads (and they're HUGE).
WOW! great steaks and a SUUUUPER cozy atmosphere the only bad thing is ITS REALLY EXPENSIVE!! the prices a re a little high, its steakhouse prices even if you aren't getting a steak! hey.....if you got 20$ to burn on yourself for dinner, go for it, especially if you're a carnivore
