This is a good Mexican restaurant in Springfield. I have not found a better one yet. This is why I gave it four stars. The prices are between $6 and 10 for an entree. The food is delicious. The refried beans actually have more flavor than those you get out of a can. Better than Mexican villa by far. The ambiance is not that nice so don't expect fancy accommodations.

I'm seriously not picky, but their iced tea tastes watered down. Get water or a coke, don't bother with the iced tea.
I think the best deal is to order #10 on the lunch menu (even after 3pm it's only a dollar more) for fajitas with rice, sour cream, lettuce, tomato, three tortillas and guacamole (I am picky about my guac, and this one should not have been served. If it has browned to the color of poop, it should not be on a plate-- it should be a nice bright green like an actual fresh avocado or thrown out).
The salsa was ok, but nothing to go back for. They add too much black pepper to the salsa, and the tomatoes taste old or canned.
The atmosphere was uniquely latino. Who else can have a mens room door that opens in the entry way? When men exit the bathroom, they hit unsuspecting patrons in the face who are standing in the entryway to be seated (that was my entertainment throughout dinner this evening).
Lavender painted walls and chile pepper curtains. Gotta love it. It has charm. ... I should mention, I usually get a stomach ache after I eat here...why do I go back? -

After La Mex went out of business I went on a search for a new favorite mexican restaurant. La Hacienda is it. The chips and salsa are excellent, and they give you large portions too. The drinks come in huge glasses, so you don't have to wait for refills. The food is cheap, and I recommend the side chicken or beef buritto.
