Normally we do not take risks this big but something was telling us this time we are doing the right thing. We decide to have La Hacienda De Roselle cater our wedding. And we were right on the money!!! Prize was great, food was awesome. All of our guest love mexican food, so we were hoping that the food would be decent(knowing that we didn't sample the food nor have ever ordered food from there before) there was plenty of food, everybody loved it, everybody talked about it, everybody WENT back for MORE!!!!!!!!! that's a sign for me that the food is good.
They brought the food on time, they picked up their stuff on time.

if you are looking to cater a party in that area, your money will be well spent

I've been to this place quite a few times usually with just my husband but have gone with larger groups of friends as well. I've always really enjoyed my food, but I'll admit--my favorite part is the banana at the end!

There are a few down-sides in my opinion. They have a really tight parking lot. My car is a mid-size crossover, and I'm scared to leave my car in some of those spots. They're so tiny!

Also, they have these parrots hanging from the ceiling. Honestly, they're creepy. And dusty. Not a good combination when I'm eating.

I called in a pick up order and spoke to a nice gentleman. I repeated my order several times since he kept asking me about the type of meat and how many tacos:

"May I please have 2 tacos, 1 shredded chicken and 1 chicken breast, with a side of rice and beans. Also, chips and salsa with a small guacamole... Yes, only 2 tacos. 2 tacos total... 1 chicken breast and 1 shredded chicken"

Mind you, I'm calling this in from the car so I don't have a menu in front of me.  I've been there a few times before and ordered this platter so I thought I was all good.
I get there and my bill was $24.25... WHAT?
I noticed that he charged me for 2 taco platters which consists of 3 tacos in EACH platter... come on.

I pointed out the simple mistake and didn't think anything of it. I was dealing with the Host or Manager and he was very understanding, said it was probably just a miscommunication. No problem.

An older gentleman comes over to me and starts telling me that I told him 2 taco platters. Clearly, there IS a misunderstanding. I tried to go over it and explain that I ordered 2 tacos but he kept bringing me his menu and pointing out the platters.
Ok, I get it. You only have platters, but wouldn't it be easier to tell me that over the phone? ... That I can only order a PLATTER of 3 tacos with rice and beans that costs $8.95 rather than charge me for 2 taco platters (6 tacos TOTAL)???
The old guy was super rude. I've dealt with him before and although he wasn't extremely pleasant, he was fair. This time, not so much.

He went on to rant that "this isn't a taco stand". Again, I understand. But I repeated my order with him at least 3 times.
He took my order back and left the room. Yep, you read that correctly. He did not want to correct the order. He took it back and left the room. I left with no food cuz this cantankerous old man had a hissy fit.

No sweat. Your restaurant was a last minute option that I will NEVER rely on again. Just do me a favor and work on your listening and customer service skills.

Cute little hole-in-the-wall Mexican joint where's you'll go bananas for the birds and buffet, or is that birds for the buffet and bananas?  This is what I imagine it's like to have Sunday Dinner at home in Mexico, so wear your stretchiest clothes and enjoy!

Came in with my wife and mother on a Saturday night. we were sitted in the side room where there was a guitarist providing live music and playoff baseball on the TV's.  Each of which were pleasant. General ambiance is alright, there appear to be a lot of weird, oddball things scattered about the dining area, though feels a little tight, quite a bit of people in there.

It is very American Mexican. It has all the normal food that would make it a Mexican restaurant. Chips and salsa on the table, marinated spicy vegetables. Meals come with ordinary mexican rice and refried beans. I got Chicken Enchiladas which were ok. Felt like it lack great taste. Sauce seemed like something you could get anywhere. Had a touch of my wife's taco and found it bland with cubed chicken breast in it.

Overall, I enjoy more authentic mexican cuisine and this place just lacked the flavor and spice that I love so much. Worth going to, but not a place I would recommend.

It's 7:45pm and I'm on the way home from work. My wife had already eaten dinner so that meant that it was going to be another night of dining alone. I decided to try La Hacienda de Roselle since it was right by the train station.

I walked in and checked out their expansive menu. There were a lot of items of choose from and some that I haven't seen at a Mexican restaurant. The interior was cozy with live music. I turned to the left and immediately noticed a buffet. I was shocked when the host informed me that the buffet was only $8.50 - the decision was clear.

Not only was the price reasonable but the buffet also had a wide variety to choose from; various braised meats, spinach/chorizo and cheese chimichangas, tacos, enchiladas, and fresh fruit. To finish the meal, I was given a complimentary fried banana with whipped cream.

I was disappointed to find out that they don't offer items a la carte but it wasn't a deal breaker. For the price and variety of dishes, La Hacienda de Roselle does a great job of offering Mexican food at affordable prices. Although the food wasn't spectacular, you simply can't beat their prices.

How did I forget to review this place?! We went here earlier this year for a birthday...or something like that. It was flipping fantastic. Service was great, like really great. The food was soo much better than I expected it to be. Not that I had low expectations, but it blew me away with deliciousness. And then, the fried banana. I had two, because I stole my husbands. I decided he didn't appreciate it enough and ergo didn't deserve it. Now, I was starved, so maybe their food isn't as good as I thought it was at the time, but I'll never know unless I go back again.... which I hope to...soon.

Only been here once. Stopped by at the last minute to order take out; a burrito, fajitas and queso fundido. It was a Saturday night during the December holiday season and the place was packed to the roof with people.  The food was OK, not great. There was no where to park in the tiny lot, so I parked behind someone and was lucky that they didn't wasn't to leave before I did. I had a margarita while I waited but there is no bar and there was no where to sit while I waited because all the tables were full. The host was very friendly. All said and done, not bad but not great food, tiny parking lot, don't go on a Saturday night. Reservations only for parties of 5 or more.

My most recent visit marks my second time eating at La Hacienda and I have to say that I have mixed feelings in regards to writing the review. My best guess is that the quality of the experience depends upon the night you go... My first time was great, I would have given 4 or 5 stars, the service was ideal, the food was delicious it was quiet, and the decor was ridiculous (in a good way); the second time we went on a Friday night and seemed to be forgotten by the server, it was very loud and our fried bananas were less than fresh...Its a shame because I really enjoyed my chicken tacos (shredded chicken in crispy corn tortillas). Essentially I do plan to return to La Hacienda de Roselle, I think I will go during a weeknight with hopes to update my review and bump up my star rating for them.

I like.  The barbacoa enchiladas with tomatillo sauce are outstanding, probably the best tomatillo I've ever had.  Portions are really generous and if that's not enough, the chips are fresh and crunchy and the salsa choices are all great.  The host and server were very nice, almost over the top, but they were genuinely pleasant so no complaint there.  To top it off, the complimentary fried banana w/ whipped cream dessert was delicious (even though I had hardly enough room for a couple bites).

Okay, let's just get the starting point straight okay now follow...

Have ordered off the menu (Ala cart) and also the lunch buffet.  However the experience with the menu is limited to the form of the glorious Chile Relinos (a stuffed pepper with cheese deep friend and served with the traditional Mexican staples (rice and beans baby!)  Mind you I had a few to drink before stopping by and I was thinking it would come as a burrito so I was a bit surprised at the $12 price I was being asked to fork over but it was my fault for not specifying I wanted it in "burrito form."  Even at $12 and not in the form I had envisioned it surpassed by expectations.

Now moving on to the Buffet review (lunch buffet).  Normally I'm not a buffet guy, and if you saw me you'd know what I mean.  I was surprised how many different options they had, how fresh it all was.  They even had some great fruit (about 6 selections) at the tail end of the buffet.  And to top it off a deep friend banana is brought out to you after the wait staff has determined that you can hold no more!  Then the bill comes and it's $7 - GOOD GAME!  leave a 10 spot and forget about eating dinner that night!

Note: If you're afraid of parrots you might not want to walk into this place, not sure what they call that phobia but pretty sure there's a word for it so if you find it out let me know (yea I know I have the internet but seeing I wrote this review and you got all the way here don't you think it's fair to do something for me?)

Three words you need to know: Spicy pork tacos. We think this should be their signature item. Order them as suggested: with cilantro and onions on soft corn shells. Spicy, but not overwhelmingly - Absolutely delicious! This is a place you can get a lot of tasty food for a very reasonable price. And if you get there when the chips are freshly made and warm you are in for a treat. They have a mild and hot salsa - beware because although the mild always remains mild....the hot can range from hot to insane! Yum!
This is a family owned business. Don't let the reviews about poor service deter you - there are times when it might be a little slow, but over the years we've watched the family that runs this business work their hardest to please the customers. It's no wonder there are so many long time regulars of La Hacienda!

Very good.  I think I need to eat here again and get something from elsewhere on the menu before I award that fifth star, but I was impressed with what I had.

It was another manic Wednesday, so I stopped here to grab something to-go. I went with a Combinacion Uno, which is a taco, enchilada and chimichanga. I went with chicken for the meat, and since they had horchada, I had a cup of that to go.

First of all - my goodness, did they give me a ton of food. $9 gets you about 3/4 pound of food, what with the combination platter and a giant bag of chips. The salsa was fresh. The cheese (oh my God the cheese) was plentiful. Somewhat unsurprisingly, the three items sort of merged into one during transport, but there was big chicken flavor, great refried beans, and wonderfully seasoned fried rice. This is what I want in Mexican food.

And the horchada. Strongly seasoned with cinnamon, but the rice flavor is prominent. Sweet, but not over the top. Definitely better than anything in a box.

I'll be back, maybe to eat in sometime.

Oh La Hacienda de Roselle. You could have had five stars, but your service blows. It just blows. It blows a whole 2 stars worth.

It's a shame too, because I think that La Hacienda probably has the best Mexican food in the area- it's very tasty. Also, the decor is hilariously awesome. I have never seen so many paper mache parrots in my life. Or hand airbrushed Mexico-themed seats. I love it. They also have really great margaritas.

However, while we are on that note, make sure you don't go there after a cruddy day at work and say "I'm just gonna have a margarita for right now." Not even if you are going to order some food a little later. Why? Because the owner (at least I think he is the owner- he is there every day and serves almost all the tables) might tell you "no." He might tell you morosely, "This isn't a bar. You have to order food." And then he might just walk off.

OK, well, if you don't want my money, I will go elsewhere too.

While that was the worst service I've gotten from that establishment, it wasn't the only bad service. The bussers are all about getting you going, and keeping your delicious chips maintained, but the servers are nowhere to be found. I had to order through a busser once. No one checks up on you to see if your meal is OK or even correct, and getting a check is like pulling teeth.

Still, if you are willing to tolerate the nonexistant or rude service, the food is wonderful and absolutely worth going back for.

I am completely confounded by these 4- and 5-star reviews; are these people taking bribes or something?

This is extremely average Mexican fare - huge plate, slop a bunch of sauce and rice and beans on top. I could have given 3 stars except it was so salty that I woke up still thirsty the next day.

The salsas were excellent; they far exceeded anything else so I have to assume they are buying them from somewhere else. If this is the best Mexican food in the area, I will just avoid Mexican until I move.

Last week a friend of mine had her bday party catered by Hacienda.  What an amazing spread! I felt as tho they supplied the whole restaurant! Chicken n steak fajitas, carnitas, enchiladas, chips for days, salsa, guac....so impressed! Authentic, delicious food had me stuffed like a pinata! I couldn't stop... have never been to the restaurant, but they have my bring-home vote!

It's hard for me to objectively review a Mexican establishment since all Mexican food eaten anywhere but in my parent's kitchen is automatically inferior to what comes out of my parent's kitchen. But then again, my parent's kitchen never had a bazillion parrots hanging from the ceiling, so La Hacienda De Roselle wins in the kitsch department, hands down.

The food is decent. The salsa was okay but I guess my familial prejudice prevented me from seeing what all the fuss was about. The mango margaritas were yummy but pretty weak, and this is coming from an extreme lightweight when it comes to alcohol. I ordered a Combinacion Cuatro. My half of a ribeye steak was perfectly grilled, juicy and tender. The cheese chile relleno was cold though, and the cheese enchilada was just sort of meh. I most definitely wished I had just ordered a full ribeye steak because that was the part of the combination platter I really enjoyed.

I ate my fried banana, and my sis-in-law's too. Hey, don't judge me.

So why am I giving 4 stars to a place where I describe the food as only decent? Oh come on man, the freakin' PARROTS. How could one NOT break out in a huge grin looking at those things? The ambiance is definitely kick-ass. The live entertainment was a nice touch, although the guy didn't have enough songs in his repertoire and sang the spanish version of "Just the Way You Are" twice while we were there.

Also a huge bonus factor was how they fit in our party of 8 on a Saturday night with no reservation. And, my coat was checked for free and my chair was held out for me, little touches like that go a long way in making me happy!

Being from Texas, it has been extremely hard to find good mexican food in Chicago area. Finally after 2.5 years I found a place that is just like being back home! Food was wonderful, good prices and we had good service. The only downside was they are not very kid friendly and do not have a kids menu, other than that we will be repeat customers.

Another Mobil Yelp find..I am def a fan (Of Mobil Yelp and La Hacienda) . The chips and salsa were sooo good. They had a really hot salsa which was righ up my alley. I could probably just eat chips and salsa as my meal.

I tried my bf's carnita enchiladas and did not expect them to be as good as they were. My friends got chimichangas, which I'm not a fan of but they really like them.

As for me, I had tacos, yea kinda boring but they were good, the pastor was dry so I wouldn't get those again.  But the carne asada was great.

Thankfully all the parrots and birds hanging around on the ceiling are fake, we wouldn't want anything dropping if they were real ;) They had a live singer when we were there. For a restaurant in a strip mall I have to say...not bad.

This place is our favorite for Mexican food.

There is no "kid menu", but if you ask for the chicken tenders they make up plates for the kids -no problem.  I would say they are pretty kid friendly and seem to enjoy having little patrons in their restaurant.

The steak tacos are delicious!  They also have a red mild salsa that comes with the chips before the meal.  It is so good, that we ask for more to add to the food we order.

This is probably my favorite Mexican-for-non-Mexicans restaurant in the burbs.  The clientele was mainly white, though I wouldn't label this place Tex-Mex.  They did in fact have a lot of food outside of your typical Tex-Mex burritos, tacos, and quesadillas.  They even served pozole, which is usually a promising sign for me.

That being said...yes; the decor.  Very, very peculiar.  Along with the...say 40 parrots they had, they also had a collection of like 20 roosters just hanging out on a shelf.  Perhaps the owner is some Ornithological fetishist, I have no idea.  All I know is that it's a buttload of birds.  Refer to my pictures.  In fact, the signs outside promoting the specials were also parrot themed!! WHOA...

The service was fantastic.  Chips out immediately.  Along with the two salsas they also had a "mexican giardinera."  Cemitas Pueblas in the city also does this as well, a nice authentic note.  For any Middle Easterners out there, this taste very very similar to Turshi.  Also, the salsas were all put in this rather deep containers.  Don't you have when you go to Mexican restaurant and they give you the chips and salsa and the salsa bowl is soo short?  And you can't get in there and really get a good dip out of it.  DRIVES ME CRAZY Anyways...

The burnt orange colored salsa was wonderful.  Couldn't stop eating it.  Also, they were very prompt about filling my water glass.  That's a HUGE plus for me, I tend to drink a ton of water.  And I get very cranky when I go thirsty in the middle of a good meal.

I ordered a regular margarita.  It was very good; but not the best I ever had. A little pricy for the size at $4.25.

For my entree, I ordered the Chicken Huatzuqueno on the strong recommendation of my server. The dish was very interesting.  It was a huge SLAB of chicken covered in a spicy, smokey, and tart sauce.  Very fresh cilantro was sprinkled on top and provided a nice zesty touch.  The chicken was really good, unfortunately; as is the case with many Mexican places, they tend to overcook these thin pieces of meat.  It ended up being a little dry and tough; but very good nonethless.   The dish costed a very fair $9.95, but it was enough to feed two people.  Or one hungry ass mofo.

The entree came with a side of rice, refried beans, and tortillas.  The rice was fluffly and more delicate that your typical "spanish rice"  It wasn't nearly as red, and the flavors were much more subtle.  Plus it had pieces of tiny vegetables in it.  I feel they actually make the rice from scratch here.

THE REFRIED BEANS WERE GOOD, AND I HATE REFRIED BEANS.  They are usually gooey and rather tasteless.  What was that movie where the dude says "why don't they just fry them right the first time?"  Anyway I digress, the refried beans were so incredibly smokey.  I could even see some scorch marks on it.  The flavor was rich and deep...hot damn.  I've eaten a lot of refried beans at a lot of different restaurants, and this one was just in another realm of tasty-awesomeness.   It rocked my world..it was like listening to the Sgt. Pepper album for the first time

Also, fried banana at the end of meal is a tasty surprise

P.S  They have a selection of like 5-7 hot sauces on the table.  I love hot sauce.  I was pretty stoked they had my fave Yucateca.  That's some hot ass sauce.

Pros:  Great chips and salsa, great service, great food
Cons:  Although more authentic than most Mexican places, I'd like to see more Mexican clients

I will definitely go back and try some more food. I highly recommend this place.

This place has been here forever. They have their good days and they have their bad. I have been disappointed more than I have been pleased, I'm sorry to say. It's a shame too, because they give you free dessert!

The decor is the first thing you see when you walk in. It's really a great lookin' little place. In fact, it's not THAT little. There is really a lot of space considering they are in a strip mall.

My sister likes to drag me here on Thursdays when they have buy 2, get one meal free nights and we bring my boyfriend along too. My sister and I are pretty picky eaters and we order things just the way we want them. My sister, for example, she wants white meat only in her Chicken Enchiladas; No cheese anywhere on the plate; and finally if you put sour cream or guacamole on the plate she WILL send it back. Seems simple, right? She asks for these things when she orders, so there is no complaining later, but it never fails. Something is wrong with her order. Now, I can understand not wanting to waste food, but what if she was allergic to one of these things she asked to not have on her plate (ie. Guac, Sour Cream, or Cheese)? These guys just take the plate to the kitchen scrape off the sour cream and/or guac and put some rice over the place where these things were originally placed. After she gets down through the rice a little ways, she finds a guac/sour cream paste at the bottom and this is just plain and simple- disappointing.

I could care less, in fact, pile her guac on my plate if that helps. My biggest complaint is because of the layout, and the servers running around to so many places, they never seem to notice that I need a refill on anything but water. I'm starting to think that they are intentionally not refilling my soda because they don't want to give that "free" refill.

Enough complaining- The white meat chicken is always moist and very delicious on my tostadas, flautas or enchiladas! They do not skimp on the meat here- pork, beef, or chicken...they are not shy when piling that on your plate. That is a crowd pleaser. Perhaps, this is also why I come back.

I secretly love this place, even though I complain....ps. don't hesitate to tip the bus boys- they kick a#% and work super hard! You'll see....

I have to agree with all the previous reviews. This place really blew me away.

The decor is a bit kitschy, if not downright frightening in some places, but it adds to the charm and certainly makes for humorous conversation. Wait staff is prompt, attentive, and thoughtful.

I had the super burrito, which was a huge mistake -- and a huge meal. It'd have been fine if I hadn't had any food the day before, or if they hadn't dropped delicious chips and salsas to snack on upon being seated. I made the best of the portion mistake by taking half home and snacking on it throughout the day. Gigantic margaritas are well worth the money, though at La Hacienda it seems almost everything on the menu is quite a good value.

The fried banana was a nice, unexpected treat at the end but didn't help the post-feast waddle back to the car.

Definitely on the short list of quality independent restaurants serving good, authentic meals in the 'burbs. (Yes, it happens from time to time)

Chips and salsa, chips and salsa, chips and salsa.  What the heck!  I'm clicking my heels together.  Why am I still at my desk?

Love the chips and salsa.  Yeah, I think you get it.

The other dishes are pretty good too.  I usually get the combo and spend under $15 with tax and tip and if I eat lots of chips, then I sometimes have one of the items on the combo plate left over and it's breakfast the next day.

The atmosphere is not really there.  The decor is trying to be tropical with all the birds but instead, it's a little scary.  The servers are polite and attentive.

We haven't had any drinks there since this is usually the "time to sober up" place after Lynfred Winery.  Some day, I may go out there and have a drink with my combo.

Oh yeah, you get dessert on the house.  This is definitely a nice touch.  There aren't that many places that do that is it's appreciated when it does happen.

I'm bumping up my initial review with two additional stars.  I went to dinner here last night with my mom and girlfriend. We had a great time.

A few reasons for the extra stars:

The restaurant is much cleaner than I remember. Nowhere near as dusty as I mentioned in my original review.

Since it was Thursday night, we benefited from the buy 2 entrees, get 1 free deal. Awesome stuff.

I ordered the barbacoa enchiladas with mole sauce. Amazing. Flipping amazing.

Waitstaff was friendly and quick. No problems whatsoever.

The giant Coronas I had were well priced (~$5 for a 48oz, I believe), ice cold and totally hit the spot on a hot summer's evening.

Post-meal, we sat at our table for a good hour and weren't forced to leave. If anything, we were welcomed to stay and enjoy our conversation.

So yeah, there ya go - five stars. It's better than I remember. Check it out, friends.

I will have to agree and give it a solid 4 stars because it is so hard to find the basics anymore. Homemade chips, gardeneria, and fresh HOT salsa - as well as many true Mexican specialities (mole, red snapper, ceviche, coctales de camerones).

We shared some queso fundido with the chorizo as a starter, along with an 1800 margarita. I had the camerones con nopalitos which said it came in a spicy sauce, and I'm glad to say they were NOT foolin' around. Nose tingling, serrano-laced spiciness with perfect little plump shrimp - even some sauteed squash con queso on the side.

My dining companion had the Chile Rellenos con queso and was very pleased with her choice. The little fried banana was a nice end to the meal.

Great to know a Mama and Papa mexicano place is here in the northern 'burbs. We'll be back!

If you want authentic Mexican that will have you believing there's cocaine in the food come here. O.M.G. My friend recommended this place and I simply cannot say enough great things about it.

The deliciousness and plentifullness of the food aside, the servers are all REALLY nice and QUICK. These guys are on the spot, nice people, really excellent and generous. I was actually really surprised at the level of quality in service here.

As far as the decor, I am laughing at the pictures because they're right on. This place is covered, I mean COVERED, with decorative parrots hanging from the ceiling everywhere! I love parrots. And I love that these are here because it's such a crazy situation that you can't help but laugh the whole time. There's no way you'll be able to have an argument with anyone in this place, let me tell you!

It's a bit on the old side. You'll have to get past the dated decor and enjoy the wall art and colorful parrots coming at you from every direction but you won't regret coming here if you love Mexican food.

I love the beef tacos with corn tortilla with refried beans and rice and an horchata to drink. Get the guacamole! You also get a fried banana dessert afterwards that's included in your meal (if you can fit it.)

Pricing is great. You'll come out spending about  $25 for two people and be very glad you tipped the great servers a substantial amount.

They have some of the most authentic and tasty Mexican food in the area! I'm always impressed with the service and value. Personally, I'm a cheese fiend, and I HIGHLY recommend the queso fundido (add some Poblano and onion for a truly outstanding taste - they also have another queso which is similar but lighter on the cheese).

Wow. this was a very big disappointment. Based on all the wonderful reviews, my husband and I decided to try this place for some good Mexican food.  We didn't mind that it was in a seedy little stripmall - and we were prepared for all the parrots (although, I'd call them tacky, not scary.)  But we were not prepared for the very inefficient service or the just "so-so meals."  Additionally, the place was very dirty.  Chef Ramsey would eat this place alive on Kitchen Nitemares, that's for sure!

We waited a VERY long time for anyone to even stop by our table. Usually, I understand if people are busy - and would not have minded in the least if someone had stopped by to say they'd be with us in a few minutes - but we were there for a good 15 minutes before anyone even acknowledged us.

The chips were very, very greasy.  The salsa was good, but my husband's is better. My husband ordered the spicy shrimp dinner (based on somebody's review) and while he agreed it was spicy - the shrimp were WAY overcooked and chewy like a rubber ball.  I ordered the 2-small burritos and found it to be very bland. My margarita, which I mistakenly thought would be freshly made (based on other's reviews) was nothing more than some ice and a LOT of strawberry syrup.  YUCK. I also ordered the tomatoe salad (I LOVE tomatoes) but was disappointed because it was supposed to come with Cilantro and the house Oregano vinegerette.  Instead, I received a LARGE plate of tomatoes with maybe 1 leaf of cilantro and the vinegerette was nothing more than a bunch of oil.

We walked out of there spending $50 bucks and it certainly was NOT worth it.  If this is the "suburbanites" idea of a good Mexican restaurant - I'm in shock and disappointed that we have nothing better to look forward to.

I really enjoyed the chips and salsa.. delicious but that's where the good ends. I'm not crazy about the crappy decor of the restaurant and I really thought it would be much MUCH cleaner. I don't even want to think about what the kitchen looks like. I ordered the supreme steak burrito and it was at least 3lbs of stuff rolled in a flour tortilla topped with cheese and some kind of red sauce. I got about a quarter of the way before I gave up trying to swallow the chewy beef. I've had better, MUCH better.

Love. This. Place. For lunch, I love the buffet -- great healthy options in  Mexican restaurant are hard to find. For dinner, my hubby and I are big fans of their tacos al pastor and guacamole. Delish.

Decor is lacking and it's in kind of a dodgy strip mall; that's the only thing keeping me from giving it 5 stars.

Well as the curent Duke I guess I should write a review. After all, I would seem to be in here quite a bit.
The reason my wife and I come here is that it's cheap, filling Mexican food with great service and a free cheeky fried banana at the end of it all.
The chips and dip at the start of the meal are always good, and the attentive staff will switch out the dip as soon as they see that you need a refill.
The combinacion meals are great value and the cheesy decor just adds to the unpretentious, local feel of it all.
It's not high end, and doesn't claim to be. It's just great for those evenings when you can't be bothered to cook and you know you'll get a cheap, quick and pretty decent meal from this place.

Big fan of this place.  I have been going here for years with my family and have tried many things on the menu.  I'm not Mexican so it's not up to me to decide if it's authentic or not, I just know that I like the way the food tastes.

This was a great place to eat! Plenty of chips with three different salsas. The service was prompt  and menu extensive. Ordered my steak tacos with onion and cilantro and added the green & red habanero hot sauces. Plenty of mmmmm-mmm goodness. Forgot the name of the dark beer I got, meh. I will be back more since it's close to where I work!

Americanized Mexican food!  Bleh!  However, I do like the fried banana dessert at the end which comes free with your entree.  This place is full of dirty stuffed parrots hanging from the ceiling which is kind of distracting when you're trying to eat your meal.  So yes, I have a big problem with the cleanliness of this place, especially when it looks like they haven't dusted the place in weeks.  Gross!  While they're at it, they should dust some of the ragged looking customers that come into this place.  Double yuck!

I freaking hate this place. They either hate gays or Asians. My girlfriend and I went there, I walked in ahead of her and the first thing old-man-behind-the-counter said to me was, "can I help you?" as if I didn't know where the fuck I was or why I was there. I was able to ignore that and told him I had a party of two. He then proceeded to seat us in the empty side of the restaurant -- away from everyone else. I was fine with that as well. It wasn't until the waiter came around to give us our free salsa and chips that I got pissed. You see, the dude set down the chips and eveything but then old-man-behind-the-counter yelled something at him and he picked everything right back up and just stared at us like we were diseased - WTF? Then old man came to us, angrily set down our water cups and poured us water from a pitcher that appeared to have been sitting on the counter for A WHILE. And it was...because it was warm...he never came back to us after that. I think we waited about 20 minutes for them to come around to take our order even though the restaurant was practically empty. By then I was seriously pissed anyway so we decided (for the first time EVER) to walk out...I freaking hate this place.

I can't say much about the food, though.  Primarily because I never got to order.
