I just want to give this place the reckoning it deserves. When you have an early day and have to eat on the run. I order only two, one flour, one corn and get three. Do the math. ;). No cheese for me.

I wish we have something like this in the Bay Area. Heck, they have it in Hawaii.

So I found La Guera Taco Truck on an early Saturday morning and was really impressed with how this little deal on wheels was able to satisfy my breakfast taco appetite!  Based on the reviews, I went for the egg, potato and cheese (very hearty and filling) and the egg + chorizo for $1.50.

Extra items only $0.25!?  Two potato egg and cheese + 1 egg and chorizo for a meager $4.25?!  Now that's what I call an extra value meal!  And no complaints on the quality - it was very good, just needed a little salt n' pepper n' sauce and all was gone.  The potatoes were large marge, the cheese was plentiful, and the chorizo was spicy!  I'm also a flour power boy, but this time I went corny tortillas and was pleasantly surprised to see you get 2 of them to secure your feast.  I think I'm going to be corny from now on.

And the sauces - they've got red and green, they run on the thin side, a bit bland, but they pack some heat.  That green sauce was HOT-HOT-HOT!  Almost similar to Taco Deli's green jalapeno n' garlic sauce - kind of like a cool demon that sneaks up on you!

So if you're ever driving / biking / walking / running / busing / skateboarding / rollerblading down S. Lamar, keep an eye out for the litte red and white La Guera Taco Truck and stop on over.  You just might find me wallowing on my hammock nearby recovering from my corny breakfast taco binge.

I just discovered this taco trailer a couple months ago.  And it is my new favorite place to get a breakfast taco before a run at Lady Bird Lake.  My first time here I ordered the egg, cheese and potato on corn tortilla and was surprised I got 2 tacos.  It was explained to me that you get either 1 flour taco or 2 corn. OK, I thought I got more than I payed for.

La Guera is cheaper than Torchy's and Taco Deli just as good and about 5 minutes from Auditorium Shores.  I can grab 2 breakfast tacos for 3.00 with a 100% tip and be on a bench at Auditorium Shores off leash area eating my tacos while my Pup runs around sniffing butts and completely ignoring the deliciousness I am indulging in.

FYI: I usually prefer red sauce but the green sauce here is very tasty - try it even if you think you do not like it.

I love La Guera. In case you've never ordered from her, here's the system. Order. Step away. She calls out your order. Check it. Pay. I love the mexicano tacos. She only serves them for a little while in the morning. Good stuff and great vegeterian. My co-worker thinks they're pricy, I just think it's because he's a fatass and the add-ons add up. $1.25 [two toppings, do you say toppings for tacos?]and on mornings when Im running late its great cause if I walk I get there in about 1.35 min. Sweetness. I love you Ms. Guera!

I figured as a Friday morning regular (and okay, sometimes a Wednesday regular as well), I have to say that this place is great!  Super affordable, fantastic breakfast tacos, especially the potato, egg, cheese, and the warmth and hospitality you get from people who truly appreciate your business.  Definitely give this place a shot.  You'll be glad you did.

OK, here's the deal.  This little truck has the best tacos al pastor EVER.  They come with a choice of corn or flour tortillas (you get two if you choose corn) and either red or green salsa (the green is soooo yummy - reminiscent of that green sauce at TacoDeli only much, much, much more mild).  And they are $1.50.  A dollar-freakin'-fifty for the best tacos al pastor I've ever had.  Better than the ones at Guero's, which cost like $3.50 for one of their regular-sized tacos if you order it a la carte (not the tiny ones on the appetizer menu).

Not sure when this place opens, but I do know that they're open till 2:00 pm M-F and till 1:30 pm on Sat - so you can eat here for lunch, too!  As the name implies, this is just a little truck perched in a parking lot, so there's no seating, no climate control, no tables...just you and your tacos, mano y mano.

For the moment, I'm convinced that La Guera is the best kept secret in Austin.  I'm movin' down south so I can eat breakfast here every morning!

Yum.
