What a find! Have you been here?
You have to drive past that really cool looking restaurant with the nicely lit wooden deck into that decently lit grocery store parking lot. Then look for the sign "La Galleria" and hope for the best... I did. And now I'm hoping I can put your mind at ease.
Opened by two brothers from Montana who know a few things about ranching beef and who share a love of Italian food, La Galleria is a true gem among the plethora of Italian options in Edmonds.
Adorable, dimly lit, and dripping with chandeliers, the intimacy of the space only adds to the romance. The bread is freshly made every day. A delicately crispy outer crust and a soft inside speckled with delicious Italian seasonings. The salads are simple, such as organic spring greens with a sprinkling of gorgonzola and toasted walnuts, but the dressings are amazing. The house dressing has 21 ingredients including a balsamic reduction and cayenne. They really need to bottle it. It's so good!
Now, on to the steak. This is where it comes in handy to be a Montana man. Josh, the owner/manager, gets his beef from a rancher friend who pastures his cows out in the open grassland and finishes them on a special blend of grains. The taste is phenomenal. My husband and I ate ours medium/rare with gorgonzola sauce drizzled on top. Whereas usually steak leaves me feeling sluggish, I actually felt invigorated.
Josh also has a great selection of wines. I had the El Mirador Zinfadel. It was very nice. You can't really go wrong with anything that comes out of Walla Walla. Of course, if you do wrong you might end up committed there for a very long time.
Meanwhile, back in Edmonds, I highly recommend a romantic evening at this quaint little strip mall restaurant. Easy to pass up, but not easy to forget.Listed in: Seattle's Best, Romance In The City

I love this place a lot actually but the price was surprisingly steeper than I had hoped.
My wife and our 2 kids went here for dinner. Kids splitted a meal so we only ordered 3 meals total with two drinks. It cost us $89; we had a living social voucher for $40 so technically we paid $49 out of pocket but I was expecting maybe $25 at most; especially since we only had 3 meals total.
The surprise was when the waitress said the meals come with a house salad but you can upgrade to a spinach salad or ceaser. My wife and kids took the ceasers while I took the spinach one. But when we got the bill it was $8 per salad for the upgrade. What a rip off; I expected $2-$3 for an upgraded salad.
I do have to say though the spinach salad was magnificent (the best part of meal hands down). Me and my wife both liked the pasta a lot too.
So in the end I will never bring my family here again since it is pretty pricey but I may use it for date night with the wife every now and then because like I said it was really good just surprisingly expensive. -

Food was very good, service was great. It's great when the owner stops by your table to make sure everything is OK.

Been going to the La Galleria for the past 17 years under various owners & name changes. Josh has created a nice gem of an Italian restaurant.
Dependable good food, excellent & friendly service. Highly recommend. (don't let the strip mall location fool you!) -

Great dinner, Josh the owner, really makes you feel at home and the food was great. I highly recommend going to visit them. It's located in a strip mall, but don't let that fool you.
Good food, good ambiance, good staff. -
Review from Sarah M.
I had been excited to come to this place for SO long and was so bummed by my experience.
While I was surprised that this restaurant was located in a strip mall, it was instantly made up for by a server who came running to the door to open it for us. It was great to be greeted by such a friendly guy!
Unfortunately, our server was not quite as friendly. My friend and I both agreed that while she was cordial she was not particularly nice. Everything seemed very rehearsed and she could not care less that we were there.
We started with the bruschetta which was not what I was expecting at all. It came with pita-like bread that was baked (pretty good) but then there was a giant mixture of capers, tomatoes, and olives (mostly capers) that we were supposed to put on the bread. Not typical bruschetta and it was salty! Neither of us really touched it.
Then, we had a main course - my friend had the pasta with artichokes and chicken in a cream sauce with gorgonzola and I had a chicken dish with tomato sauce, cheese, and vegetables over polenta. I did not really like mine. The chicken had a lot of fat (the gross kind that when you bite down, it's a combination of a cartiledge-feeling) and the consistency didn't taste right. The sauce was just mediocre. I must say that the presentation was beautiful but sadly the quality of the food just wasn't up to par.
On top of that, the service here was SLOW. A "big" group of 5 right after us but we were probably at dinner for about 2 hours or so...luckily I was with good company but even with good conversation, it was SLOW.
I really wanted this place to be good...but I will be sure to skip it the next time around. -

Where is the staff? Saturday early evening, 7:30pm-ish and they are empty save one 2-top and one 3-top (so with us, 7 customers). From the time we are sat down until we order, I counted 3 floor staff, a host and two servers. Until we paid and left, I can honestly say that there was more time without floor staff in the front of the restaurant than there was with. Why no floor presence? Why all huddled in the back until you have to come out? I could see that our server was spending a lot of time watching TV, but the others? It was very odd. That said, when we did interact with the host and our server, they were all very nice, efficient, and proud of the menu and specials.
Our dinners were OK, much better than some other Italian-esque we've had in the neighborhood, but not something we will be going out of way for in the future. Vegetables for the salads were bright, crisp and fresh -give the Caesar salad a go as it was very good with a just-right anchovy tone. The salmon we had was OK, a little under-done in some spots and over-all under-seasoned. The special came with a fettuccine carbonara that had a nice bacon content and a lovely addition of asparagus, but was a little heavy even for a carbonara and the over use of cream blanded out the egg and bacon subtleties of the dish. We lastly sampled a house-made lemon/blueberry cake, which was tasty and fresh but a little overdressed with too much lemon icing. All and all not a bad dinner, but over-priced for the end result. -

This was good food and great service! My husband got the seafood pasta and thought it was very tasty and I ordered the pasta bolgnese. It was not as good as I am used to... it had more sausage than meat and the sauce was just a tomato sauce instead of a creamy pink sauce like I am used to but it was still good.
I will definitely be back! -

Stumbled on this quaint, cozy, and absolutely fabulous restaurant during happy hour. OMG it's amazing! Had the Mango Penne with a little glass of Cabernet and it was heavenly. Under $10 later and I had a great dinner and a greater experience. The staff was friendly, the service was fast, and I'll be going back as soon as possible.

Among the best Italian restaurants outside of Italy! The ravioli was delicately flavored & scrumptious, the gnocchi with slivered toasted almonds was rich & delicious, & the tiramisu was to die for! Anyone in the Seattle area must try this restaurant!

This may be my favorite Edmonds restaurant. The flavors all burst with freshness and intensity. Since the food has so much flavor it tends to be very satisfying. It is reasonably priced for the quality. Service has always been good. As others note there is a strip mall bit of atmosphere but at least they don't try to be pretentious. Their lasagna is memorable. The salads are very good.

My friends and I went here for brunch this morning; the food was amazingly delicious and ridiculously cheap. For three people, including tax and mimosas and everything, it barely topped $30. And the food was GOOD.
I am flabbergasted that the three of us were the only people in there; I can only assume the location must be some kind of an issue, because I had never heard of it or noticed it before finding it on Yelp, despite driving down 5th frequently. There's even a convenient parking lot, so I have no idea why the place wasn't packed.
As everyone else has mentioned, it's super cute, a little small, and the waitstaff is extremely friendly. We'll definitely be going back. -
Review from Amy B.
I recently had the opportunity to enjoy the wonderful brunch menu at La Galleria. This smallish Italian restaurant in a grocery store strip mall hidden just outside the main drag of Edmonds.
A group of seven of us descended upon the restaurant on a recent Saturday morning to enjoy the Brunch menu. We took our time with a leisurely brunch - it is a THREE course meal that is really rather impressive. You start with yogurt and granola parfaits (really yummy with lots of almonds!) and berry scones, then move to eggs, meat of your choice, fruit, and for the final course - pancakes! Brunch drinks are $3 and are delicious - we all went with the mimosa but there were several other options.
The service was kind, quick, and gracious - they didn't even seem to make a fuss about splitting the check seven ways using seven cards. Something for which they were tipped generously.
I hope to go back for dinner soon! -

I was very happy with the staff's service from the very first few minutes of being there. They continued to please by offering wine choices, an entree special, and personable service. It must be a great place to work because I could tell the staff enjoyed their jobs. They even sold up their pancakes for their breakfast/brunch menu if I we would ever like to stop by in the mornings. I think we may just do that!
The food was savory; the Rosemary bread and olive oil was soft and a great starter. Good wine selection and good for families. Parts of the restaurant are partitioned so if there is a large group (which there was on Prom night) you still have privacy for a family with a child. The outside doesn't look fancy, but I'm glad I stopped in. -

I've been here 3 times so far. I've tried the
Medaglione di Feleto-Grilled, prosciutto-wrapped beef tenderloin with a three pepper seasoning served with Gorgonzola gnocchi and vegetables.
Rigatoni Positano-Rigatoni pasta combined with spicy Italian sausage in a tomato sauce with a touch of cream
and a salmon and pasta special. Each dish was worthy of 5 stars. Definitely one of the best restaurants I've been to in the Edmonds/Lynnwood area.Comment from Josh C. of La Galleria 7/29/2009

Lovely dinner - great service! Had Saltimbocca. Veal tender, tasty polenta, wonderful bread. Great house wine. Portions perfectly sized.
Will return - probably this weekend to try the brunch! Highly recommended.

We have been to La Galleria several times for dinner. We return because we always know the food will be outstanding, and that our guests will be happy with that choice of restaurant. The service is excellent, and the food is, too. The ambiance is wonderful, except for one thing and that is that we wish they could play some soft Italian music in the background instead of the pop music we heard last night. It's so Italian in there .... except for the choice of music.
Try this restaurant. If you love Italian food, this will be a hit. -

Had a wonderful dinner here...can't wait to go back. If I lived closer, I'd probably go in a couple times a week for a small plate, at least...and the bread, which is to die for! Anyone who rated less than 4 stars...I'd encourage you to try again.

Have been in here for dinner several times and it has always been a wonderful experience. Today I took my son and his fiancé to breakfast and we were headed to the Pancake Haus, line was too long and we had always talked about trying La Galleria, we are very glad we did today! The 4 course breakfast is wonderful and more than filling. We will definatly be going there again for breakfast! Service was excellant as usual!

Review from Ann W.
La Galleria needs a better location--it's a fantastic place but there was nobody in there at 10am on a Saturday morning. It's right next door to Pancake Haus, aka Haus of Geriatrics. Anyway, it's a very cute and classy joint with a nice compact brunch menu that will surely please anyone. You can order the "all inclusive" brunch, which has three courses, or the "a la carte" brunch, which is one or two of the three courses. I ordered "a la carte"-- course 2: toast, 2 eggs, meat (sausage, ham, or bacon), and potatoes; and course 3: homemade pancakes with real maple syrup, and whipped cream/strawberries on the side. A very hearty meal--I couldn't think of one thing that I didn't like. I asked for the eggs sunnyside, and for once, they weren't greasy. (Usually when I get sunnyside eggs at other bfast places, they are drippingggg with oil and don't taste like eggs anymore.) The pancakes taste very differently from other places' pancakes... they must have a special recipe. They're very light and fluffy, and not too sweet at all. My favorite thing was the potatoes--homefries style, seasoned perfectly and very crispy! I only wish there had been a larger portion of them!
I'll definitely be back to bring more people there. Next time I'm going to go for the "all inclusive" so that I can try the yogurt parfait and pastry. -

The food here is as delicious as any restaurant in Edmonds! We love the bruschetta and the vodka ravioli, but everything we have tried is delicious. The owner is friendly and knows us by name. He always has good suggestions for wine, and the desserts are delicious, especially the tiramisu and spumoni. The decor & atmosphere match the strip-mall location, but if you want excellent food for a reasonable price in downtown Edmonds, La Galleria can't be beat.

So, as we were reluctantly going into Pancake Haus today we noticed this place is now open for breakfast. We were going out with some friends for their anniversary and checked out the brunch/breakfast menu here and thought we would give it a try. Sure it cost about 5 times more then going to the ol Pancake Haus but it was 10 times better. For $16.00 you get a 4 course breakfast starting with a wonderful parfait, then onto homemade scones (which normally I dont like), the a plate of eggs, a slection of meats, potatoes and a pastry selection, then ending with an amazing pancake. I have to say one of the best breakfasts Ive had in a long time. Edmonds SO needed another breakfast place. Plus $3 mimosas you cant go wrong.

I have been in here several times for dinner and have always had a wonderful meal. This is a nice family-run place that serves solid (but not haute) Italian food. Think great homemade pasta and veal scallopini as opposed to something you need to know Italian to pronounce.
Tried the calamari fritti tonight and it is a totally different dish than just about anyplace else makes. Pan-fried, rather than deep-fried, so you actually taste the calamari rather than the inch of batter surrounding the calamari made everyplace else. Plus about a bottle's worth of excellent capers to top it off.
The owner (whom we've always seen in there when we've gone) is very knowledgeable about wine. The wine list is small and may seem generic when you first look at it. However, all of the wines are carefully chosen. When we've asked Josh for a recommendation, he's always come up with something we've liked. He once had a Swiss (!) wine as a special, and we were bowled over by it. Not to mention that the wine prices are really reasonable.
As another reviewer noted, this is located in a "strip mall" (or about as much of a strip mall as it gets in downtown Edmonds). Don't let that put you off, though. Ambiance is quiet and low-key with large, wide-spaced tables so you can actually have a conversation.
Highly recommended. We always go here or to Olive's whenever we eat out in Edmonds. -

Wow - great brunch! Found it through Yelp. Four course brunch with fruit and nut parfait, homemade scones fresh from the oven, eggs/bacon or sausage/potatoes/toast, and a wonderful sourdough pancake with whip... and yes, $3 mimosas! Wonderful. Reservations taken. We hear that it is packed for dinner and got a very positive on-the-street review form a local while asking directions. We had difficulty finding it because it is in the same building/complex as Petosa's grocery and the pancake house. Pleasant environment, and the staff was attentive, but not overbearing. My wife and I and her parents felt it was an amazing little find. Thanks Yelp (and AJ R)!

Today we decided to take our chances in trying a resturaunt that we have often seen but never sampled. Boy, were we happy that we stumbled upon La Galleria for their wonderful Brunch menu. We didn't like the long lines at the Pancake Haus and wanted to enjoy a quiet intimate breakfast. We were not dissapointed.
We partook of the full 3 course breakfast. Seldom do I feel compelled to write of a dining experience, but this was food unlike anything I've tasted in a very long time. The care that was taken in preparing each course shined through in every bite we took. From expertly prepared granola and buttery scones to perfectly cooked and seasoned eggs It was without a doubt a wonderful eating experience that will keep us coming back. We enjoyed the brunch so much that we will make it a point to return for their dinner service in the near future. Yet again, a home town business reminds this writer why small businesses are such an incredible and valued member of our community. -

Based on yelp reviews, we decided to have the 3 course brunch...we were hoping for something more special given our splurge (too pricey for an average weekend). Yes, we did enjoy the scone and granola parfait, as mentioned in other reviews...as well as the hearty wheat toast in course two. However, we felt that courses two and three were just average in taste...and did not warrant the price of $45 for two. Coffee was good, and service attentive.
We wont be returning for brunch, but we will give it a try for dinner. -

We had brunch here on Saturday and it was really great homemade food. I loved the scone thing and the pancakes! Real maple syrup too. Service was great too. Friendly folks there who didn't mind too much when we only ordered water to drink. My only complaint... $16 each is a bit steep for us for breakfast or else we'd go more often. If brunches were $12.95 each, the place would be packed!

I recently went here for the brunch with a group of friends. It was really good, the three course is well worth the $16. You get a yummy parfait and berry scones first, then a potato, meat and egg platter. You finish with really interesting pancakes. Very filling!

Don't be fooled by the unattractive strip-mall location, this is a very good little Italian restaurant. Unfortunately, there's another Italian place a stone's throw away with a nice location on a busy corner that people will see before they find La Galleria set off the street at the back of Petosa's parking lot. It's unfortunate if they pick the other restaurant because it's miles below in quality to La Galleria though the prices are commensurate. And La Galleria is actually quite attractive inside. Good service, great food, fair prices. Recommended!

This place is amazing. Delicious food and lots of it; great service, good price. Went for brunch with a large group and it was a wonderful experience for all, including the kids. The bar looks like it would be a nice place to go for a glass of wine in the evening. Then again, most places tend to look that way to me. Highly recommend you try the brunch here!
